Best sushi in Perth by far!, their set menu is pretty great but customising you’re own rolls is so so good. The price fits the quality and the Astro boy painting on the wall is super cool
The sushi was amazing, a large serving was hard to finish but you didnt feel like leaving any leftovers because it was THAT tasty. The sushi is hard to eat though due to its size it falls apart as soon as you pick it up. The gyozas are tasty but could have had more fillings. Every sauce and side extras were provided on each table which makes it convenient. Staff are friendly but service is slow considering its just sushi. The astroboy theme is cute and nostalgic and is a great place to take your best friend or date.
My entire review here is based on the takeaway mushroom roll. IT IS AMAZING. If you're a veggie and you're sick of no real veggie sushi options, you will love!
I took off one star because, to be honest, the service isn't that great. I'm only in there briefly and in that time...errrr...could be better! I wonder if I stayed longer it would be worse? Who knows. All I know is I love those mushroom sushi rolls and will not endanger my love for them! Fleeting visits only.
Love their chicke karage and philly roll. Both are so good! They do other sushi rolls or even design your own. Their teriyaki chicken is ok too.
Delicious Satay Sushi Roll - would recommend and very filling! Large selection of yummy Sushi Roll options as well as being able to make your own.
Very delicious and fresh Sushi. Our family usually dine in. Small but cosy place. My favourite is the teriyaki salmon. Fast and friendly service.
A fantastic selections of sushi and rolls, I love a possibility to pick up the ingredients and decide how to make your own roll! great place, very small but good service.
Came in for a quick meal and had awesome sushi! The place is quite tucked away as it is at the very back of an alley in mount Lawley. The place is quite casually done, but a little warm on that day, perhaps can turn up the aircon a little next time. Quite a good fusion or combination of flavours - please do note that they’re not your traditional sushi place. Anyway, we were quite impressed by the sushi and the prompt service we got. We had Katsu kilpatrick roll, spicy tuna roll and miso fried chicken wings as they’re the special dish for the day. They’re quite tasty and couldn’t decide which one is nicer than the others.
Went here for lunch. Great rolls.. we had turf and surf. Was really good. Accompany by karage chicken bowl. Was good too.. though think would have been better if the mayo was on the side and not all over the chicken.
Came for a quick dinner. Sushi was good, lots of options to make your own. The pork gyoza was yum. Only feedback is around bringing out the meals together. My partners chicken katsu curry came out way before we received the other 2 meals.
Good quality sushi and hand made in front of you very nice, but fair shake of the sauce bottle mate $26 for 8 pieces of sushi in a take away plastic container, it’s not at the crown nor are you nobu please go back to your older pricing
Quick stop for quickly wrapped sushi- it was delicious yet hard to manage into your mouth in one piece. Maybe it was rush hour?
Good value for snack sushi :)
We managed to sit on the floor like the traditional style Japanese. I ordered the bento box the service was nice and organised the food came out in time food tasted fresh I really enjoyed the meal the atmosphere and everything. Thumbs up to me
This place was pretty good for a quick bite if you're busy. We ordered the grilled salmon sushi and the chicken lover sushi (katsu chicken and chicken teriyaki). The sushi was okay, but not the best I've had. Good value for money though!

+3.5
Standard sushi prices, well presented, delicious flavours, and friendly service. Would recommend getting in early as the restaurant is small.
Food is great, service is fairly quick. You can order ahead to pick up which is really convenient! Can get very busy some nights for dine in, but only because it's so good!
If you want normal average sushi this is not the place to go. There sushi pushes the boundaries on what sushi should be honestly they do it so well. Every option can't be faulted and I just loved coming here!
Loved the sushi at Mr. Munchies Sushi. Was a little busy, however it was worth the wait. I'm not really a duck person, however it was pretty good. Great spot to catch-up and share a meal.
Had really good sushi here for lunch. Freshly made and not overly sweet with ripe avocado and crispy chicken. Yummy. Looking forward to trying more!
I was pretty amazed and surprised by the customised sushi that we had ordered. Totally is in love with Mr Munchies! We ordered smoked eel with pepper sauce, chicken karaage with japanese bbq sauce and crabstick with miso sauce. The customised sushi comes with the option of 4 pieces or 8 pieces. Prices are reasonable when you don't choose the special toppings or food ingredients that cost extras. The atmosphere is friendly and the service is fast too. We will definitely be visiting Mr Munchies again, with the hope that they will add soft shell crab as an option in the customise sushi menu.
I really love everything about mr munchies it's my FAVORITE sushi of all time. The chicken one with the potato salad and the chicken one with the avo is the best. The only thing I don't like is the price. I think it's RIDICULOUSLY priced it's actually nuts
Personally, I love Japanese food. I reckon this restaurant is one of the best sushi-roll restaurants in Perth. The atmosphere is nice. Additionally, there dishes are delicious combination of a variety of ingredients, and makes for a healthfully nutritious meals.
Packed on a Saturday lunch time. Either build your own sushi rolls or choose from some on their menu. You won't find your typical teriyaki chicken or California roll here. Very creative options that you won't have seen elsewhere like lamb or duck sushi. Had the seafood roll and tried the salmon teriyaki bowl. Both were delicious. Love that they have ginger on the table too. Oh and 25% off with the entertainment book helps!
Brilliant sushi!
Not overly expensive and very filling.
Quite a wide variety of food for both people new to sushi and people who eat it regularly.
But overall it was just Yum!
Ordered my own sushi which cost $12.50 and my boyfriend had the salmon along with soft shell crab. Tasted great! Best option is to share or make your own as it's a little cheaper. Very expensive to add cream cheese at $5 extra to your own sushi roll.
Ordered the $45 platter set through UberEATS. Sushi was nice, miso soup was good, but we didn't get side salads. Maybe they got mixed up since the driver delivered an order before ours?
Went to Mr. Munchies Sushi for lunch and it was delicious. The sushi was made on the spot at the counter and everything tasted fresh! We had the Spider roll, chicken lover roll and the surf and turf roll, which was very pleasing. The price was also reasonable and inexpensive for the quality of the sushi. One thing that was disappointing was that the sushi kept falling apart every time it was picked up so that was a bit annoying but overall I would recommend trying it out if you like some sushi in da belly. ❤❤
My boyfriend and I come to Mr munchies quite often and it is the only sushi restaurant we dine in at. The menu has great options and the sushi are made fresh to order. My favourites are Chicken Lover Roll, Seafood Roll & Mr Munchies Roll. Best Sushi in Perth and the prices are cheap, most restaurant would do $20+ for a spider roll. I would definitely recommend checking this place out.
Love this place!
Mr munchies is always so good! It's completely different to regular sushi and way more exciting. I wish they would bring back their beef curry sushi... It was so good!
Not your average sushi roll combinations that even sushi haters can get on board with.
Tricky to find but head to Grill'd and Gelare... Walk past I to the arcade and it's in the right back corner, after Bossman (who make a mean coffee, but that's another review).
It's tiny so you might not get a table, but you can do takeaway. Or even better ring ahead, place your order, waltz in to pick up and waltz out.
As with all Japanese places the prices seem high. But at Mr Munchies you get your fill for that price and the sushi combos are different and delish - bacon and melted cheese anyone? Or today I tried a new one, the Bogolgi with steak strips and a spicy sauce.
The Mr Munchies Sushi Salad is a mighty feast that would fill any red blooded male's stomach. A big bowl of rice, salad, egg, avocado and sashimi or tuna and salmon. Then covered in your choice of suave (wasabi aioli all the way).
Or you can build your own sushi... Say what? Choose your protein, then up to three fillings, a crunchy topping and the sauce.
Get into it and bring your sushi naysayers to change their mind on non deep fried Japanese food.
Fun, casual vibe here. The sushi is delicious! There are some pretty adventurous combos on the menu. We went with the crunchy spider roll and crunchy chicken roll. Food comes out really quickly and is super fresh. Portions are generous. The edamame needed more salt but other than that, can't fault this place.
A refreshing twist to sushi, Mr Munchies adds interesting and tasty combination to your sushi. They also give you the option of creating your own sushi - but this should only be done if you know what you're doing. The food was very flavoursome and fresh. I definitely recommend this place for sushi!
Love love love this sushi place. Defs my number one sushi restaurant. Everything is made fresh to order. All the girls there are nice and was really helpful with the menu as i wanted to make my own 5 sushi rolls.
Fun, Fresh and Creative!
From the cosy decor, to the bubbly staff and creative menu bursting with unique flavour combinations, Mr. Munchies is a fun casual dining experience.
The portions are generous, and the sushi rolls are large and densely filled - this makes them tricky to eat delicately! I have a few favourite dishes when I come here; the Agadeshi Tofu, the Japanese Potato Salad, the Two Way Duck Roll & the Crunchy Chicken Roll. They're all fresh and flavoursome.
I do, however, avoid Mr. Munchies at peak times as it's a small venue and easily becomes crammed. I also wish that the sushi rolls were a bit smaller to make them easier to eat. But other than that, I love this place.
An extraordinary place, create your own sushi - it's the best sushi we have ever tried in this city. I love this way you get to create your own sushi. Fantastic!!
Haven't even left yet and can't wait to come back, so tasty and zingy. So many other items on the menu I wanted to order, always a good sign for me, Everything I expected and wanted 🙌🏼 Tuna was seriously perfect.
Its definitely a unique place where u can create your own sushi. Although it can be considered as pricey for an 8 pieces of sushi, i do think they deliver in term of flavour. My friend loves the duck while I love the soft shell crab sushi that I selected myself.
I've always been a fan of places that experiment with flavors, it also helps that I love sushi. Which is why I thoroughly enjoyed the eclectic interpretation of what went into the sushi. The majority of sushi on offer is in no way conventional, it almost seems tongue in cheek. The highlight for me was.
We ordered the Katsu Kilpatrick, Mexican Roll, 2 Ways Duck Roll and Mr Munchies Karaage.
Sushi was all very nice, our favourite was the Katsu Kilpatrick, the melted cheese on top was something different! The highlight was the chicken karaage which was very tasty, crispy and juicy!
Dinner in 15 minutes is one thing, a fresh handmade, personalised meal in that time is something else. My meal was made with enough time for me to sit down and eat it before racing off to a show at the Astor. I loved being able to pick my own base, topping and sauce, how could I not have the salmon. Fluffy rice and a rich sauce made the meal so good I'll definitely be going back when I have more time to really enjoy it. Perfect place for a pre-show meal
This place is a little gem. The teriyaki chicken is superb and the MYO sushi is a nice touch too. Consistency is an important part of any hospitality establishment and this place is very consistent - it's easy coming back here!
I’d wanted to visit Mr Munchies for some time and suggested that we give it a try. The popular little Japanese spot is tucked down an arcade on Beaufort Street. Jen and I found it difficult to choose what we wanted to eat, so we decided to share a few things, to try as many fillings as possible!
My boyfriend, mum and I came for lunch today. I didn't really know what to expect but wow. What a wonderful menu with such unique flavour combinations. The food was all amazing, such great flavours, fresh, cooked perfectly. Very happy, we will be back! #goodfoodofperth
One of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Perth for casual dining. The standard has slightly dropped since it first opened but the sushi is still amazing as always. The specials are always unique and I love the idea of being able to create your own sushi.
Definitely must have. Can make your own or get one of their inventions. Something for everyone on the menu with out being tight on their delivery. Food looks amazing with a cute decor to go with. Food is only made fresh and comes out reasonably quick even when the place is packed. I have known the line to be out the door but you will get served, just maybe not a seat sometimes, but that's ok they don't disappoint with take aways.
Love love love the sushi here!!! You can never go wrong with the cheesy potato sushi and cheesy chicken bacon sushi ! Karage chicken is also a must try :)
Always a great place to go. Munchies is always so busy, packed with pumping music, watering mouths and great smelling food.
Food made freshly in front of your eyes with exciting twists to your normal sushi like cheeseburger or Kilpatrick.
Friendly staff add the cherry on top of your experience. Highly recommend for a quick, super tasty casual eat!
I love this place. Mr Munchies does a great job of making big unique flavoured sushi which really stands out against the small poor flavoured sushi you can get from sushi trains or shops.
While their prices are a little steep, I can assure you that their sushi sure fills you up (coming from a guy who are 4 sushi rolls).
The place is quite small meaning it can get crowded and occasionally lines form outside, also being such a small space means it gets bloody loud as people's voice bounce off the walls!
The sushi is served brilliantly and every sushi roll is uniquely plated looking like a modern western take of the usual Japanese sushi. I love how many different flavours you can get including 2 ways duck which is by far my favourite roll! However their bento boxes don't look too appealing and look like kids lunch boxes in my opinion!
The service is great...even though the waiter totally judged me for ordering a sushi platter for myself. They're always happy to serve and look after you which makes a great experience! And it's fun being able to watch the chefs hand roll the sushis while waiting to pay!
Always so delicious and fresh! Favourite that I order all the time is the cheesy potato roll 😆😆 The sushi bowls are great too. We had the new mango chicken roll too and was good. Go try it all!
Some of the best sushi I've ever had in Perth! Extremely tasty and fresh. I'd definitely recommend people to pop in here if they were around Mt Lawley.
Love this place ! You can go for your usual sushi order or try something new. I love the sushi salads they do and they always have really fresh ingredients!
I absolutely loved the food here. I experimented with new foods and was not disappointed. The ingredients were fresh and the sushi was very tasty. My friend and I had a shared plate for two and I couldn't decide which sushi was my favorite. Will definitely be eating here again!
I love mr munchies when I'm keen for some non traditional sushi that's flavoursome and different. My favourite is the spicy tuna roll, it's not that spicy which is good. Love the cute place and they've really improved since they opened with their timing of making the sushi.
Not just ordinary sushi. Sushi with pizzaz in a trendy, casual, bustling atmosphere. We had only sushi rolls tonight although this is not all on offer. Our favourite rolls were the seafood and soft shell crab. Food is fresh, tasty, nicely presented and good value. Staff are neatly attired in the same shirts... Iove it when people preparing food wear hats! Efficient operation. Do try!
This is one of my go to Japanese places! Love building my own sushi salads, especially because the produce is fresh and you can customise to your own preferences. I usually try to avoid the soft shell crab but end up indulging in it.
Pictured: spicy tuna roll – marinated fresh raw tuna and avocado topped with tobiko and spicy mayo $17.50. Sushi with a twist. Mr Munchies is worth trying for the different flavours and it is also decently priced. The ingredients are fresh and the portion sizes are quite filling. Although this place is tucked away (behind Grill’d in Mount Lawley, down the corridor) it can get quite busy and loud. I have only tried the sushi here but they also make bento boxes, teriyaki chicken and salads. Out of the two flavours I tried, the Spicy Tuna was my favourite; the tuna was fresh and had a nice sesame taste. Would definitely come back to try other flavours.
