Real pub, real pints, real cool staff. Drinks are really well priced. Happy hour is even better! Specials and events throughout the week. No judgement. Seating out the front is popular all year round. Note: if you're not sure, bring a jacket! Love this place - don't ever change.

Really good bar with a really nice vibe, good place to go with a small group maybe no more than 5 especially if you sit outside, the outdoor area smoke free which is a bit of a downside but you can stand up and smoke just 'off the premise'. The outdoor area has pretty limited seating but I don't think a lot can be done about that, it is fairly comfortable, most of the tables don't wobble but is roullete. The pricing for drinks is what you would expect in Perth around 9 to 11 dollars a pints. They use to have good specials on but not sure of they still exist... Like $10 Wednesday jugs. It's has andark wood/ bluesy bar feel that feels old in an authentic way, not trying to hard. The staff are friendly and helpful with selection and overall pretty quiet and reserved, a downside is the bathrooms are pretty old and dated and make for a pretty average experience, with graffiti etc. The food here is pretty good, not my go to for my Lawley but what you.would expect for a pub. Good chips ha, to fit the large beer selection. A downside might also be you.can see into the kitchen which is great for promoting cleanliness and such but there is a large stained wall behind which isn't very appealing as a customer. The security at this bar in my many experience is on average really good. They're friendly and usually inviting.overall would recommend.

Typical pub. Has a decent enough range. Hop Hog was cheap compared to other places. Has a Big Buck HD Wild arcade machine which is in excellent condition with very accurate guns.

Good beer choices at decent value. The food is surprisingly good and they have great specials like the cheap pizzas on Sunday. You can also grab food or drink and take it up to defectors. It can be a bit hard to get a table outside and can be pretty noisy inside.

A Perth institution, this venue has been a favourite of mine since my early 20s. Sundays are the day to get their Pizza & Pint special ($12 last I checked) for great value. The pizzas are good, but so much better when you get a full-price version. Worth trying: slow cooked lamb shank or the ribs. Big, hearty pub food downstairs with a swanky upstairs (Defectors) and a craft beer place out back. Just remember: sit to drink, stand to smoke.

Amazing place very lay back and enjoyable venue to chill and relax , I love this place very much never had a bad experience.The venue good for all people of different age groups to enjoy. Good atmosphere and professional staff. Matured people after a good day or night out no dramas. They also sell delicious pizza that will satisfy your taste buds. This place will not disappoint U at all, your probably go back again and again because of the positive vibe and chill atmosphere.

It's a nice pub. It's popular in the afternoon for people to come and sit outside at the tables on the side-walk and enjoy a drink. You can order a coffee here as well as alcoholic beverages and there is a range of food options and 'quick-bites' if you need a snack while you enjoy your drink.

Too hot, grumpy service, but great 'proper pub' feel and had both indoor (open to the outside, on a 39° day hence "too hot") and outdoor seating with plenty of room. Didn't have any food, but the kitchen was in plain site (a good sign for cleanliness?) and the kitchen staff appeared to be taking pride in their work. Could still taste like @r$e obviously, but I would be willing to bet it doesnt and I hope to go back soon for a non-business reason and try the food.

Food is average but is standard pub grub, which is what you should want and expect when going to a pub for a feed. Great all year round for a beverage, classic pub that is a staple for the ML crowd. Always a good vibe.

We had a table of 5 on Tuesday night 14/05/19 we all had supposedly the Scotch Fillet 2 out of the 5 enjoyed their meals .<br/>The other three had very sinewy fatty steak that did not even look like Scotch Fillet for $34 that I paid I was extremely disappointed

I love the Scotsman for its great, and a little gritty, vibe. There might be a few hipsters hanging on the fringes but it’s a very down to earth crowd inside. We were stoked with our meals and the drink prices were reasonable.<br/><br/>The Thai beef salad was actually perfectly pink and rare as the menu attested. The dressing was subtle but it worked so well. My husband liked the fish and chips although they were pretty standard pub fare.

Just visited this place couple of hours ago for a drink. It was their closing time and as the staff advised us about it we finished our drink and my friend a girl was decent enough to go and had our beer glasses back to bar. As we left the barman who served us follows us down the street asking us if we took the beer glasses from the venue and even asked my friend if she had in the hand bag . How disrespectful one can be to a girl , this person did not think of checking the bar first before following us , what a turn off how they treat their customers here really shocking . We are hospitality staff ourself working on the same street. It was just shocking . If the management at all cares about this review please do contact me.

Pizza and a pint Sundays are where its at. Great price fantastic location oh.... and the pizzas are a hit in my book. Good place to let the weekend wind up.

I've been going to the Flying Scotsman back since the 80s when it was a nightclub called Bubbles! How scary is that? I can even remember legendary Olympic swimmer Neal Brookes having fisticuffs outside. <br/><br/>I still go there for the juicy mansized steaks. For a while I think they changed their cuts and it wasn't as good but it seems to have resolved itself. Yummy. Only thing is that sometimes it can get really noisy in there which makes dinner and conversation difficult but that's why it's a pub I guess.

It's a familiar pub with laid back service. We've been coming here for years, stoping in for a drink or two on the way to something. It's nothing fancy it's a pub. It's reliable, you can get a decently priced drink and move on or stay for a bit.

The small, blonde haired chick with the big.... glasses is a perfect example of exceptionally adequate customer service. We can all learn a lot about from her not only in the hospitality industry but also in life. What a genuinely good egg. Just so great. Good job on the hire

had dinner here tonight (friday) and had a bit of a mixed experience. cool, unpretentious place. lamb shank ($19) was really good and well priced, chicken wings were pretty disappointing, not very tasty. music and atmosphere were great. we've been to defectors upstairs as well which i really liked, so i wanted to like this... not quite there but this is our local so hopefully we can be back and have a better meal next time!

Not the best food around but makes up for it with a good atmosphere for 18-25 year old uni students. Sunday pizza and a pint is a good deal for those strap for cash (don't expect the pizza to be superb) as well as Wednesday $10 jugs of beer.

Not your classiest pub, more of a boys zone with arcade games. However the pizza and pint/spirit specials are great value and the pizzas are really tasty, especially after a few drinks.

Great little sot with friendly staff and not bad food. We came here for lunch and weren't disappointed. No frills pub food, flavoursome , filling, not that expensive. Not cheap either.... a few of the people about are a bit rough around the edges but that aside fantastic. Not bad for an impromptu casual beer and lunch

The location is great and the openness of the bar to the street works well. The tables outside offer a great spot to sit a people watch. I had been before and didn't like it too much but have since returned and had a great time. Instead of the rough Sunday arvo crowd it was more diverse and eclectic, very much like the pubs in Melbourne I loved for many years. Looking forward to going back.

Bloody great feed. Great pub. Deffinately would be back here got the fried chicken and the brisket sandwhich. Both were excellent. Friendly staff. Great spot. Sweet potatoe wedges are great.

Really good wood fired pizza. Unfortunately we were too early for the pizza and pint special (starts from 3.30 pm on Sunday) however took advantage of the Clipp app free pint. Great local pub

A reliable local. Good atmosphere, nice and laid back. Good parmi. Even comes with a nice mash and veggies if you don't feel like chips and salad. Hard to go past the pizza and pint nights. Can get noisy inside on busy nights.

Fairly nice spot in Mount Lawley. Nice ambience, not too noisy which means you can talk at a normal volume and not have to struggle to hear what people are saying. Beers are reasonably priced, for Perth at least. Food is just average, don't set your expectations too high. I had the Scotto Burger which was palatable but certainly not great. It came with a rather watery and blank patty, and a bun that was thick was tasteless. The fries were rather nice however.

We went for lunch and admittedly the place was empty. However in some places that hasn't stopped the service being awful... Here the food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious. I had a burger and chips and my husband had a steak sandwich and chips. The chips were awesome!

I came to this place today for lunch with a friend. The atmosphere around this place is very nice. Calm and relaxed. Plenty of seating available as well. <br/><br/>I ordered the chicken parma and my friend ordered fish n chips. My chicken parma tasted delicious. Beautifully crumbed and crispy chicken with tasty Napoli sauce topped with ham and cheese. The parma also came with well cooked chips and salad with a dressing. My friend loved his fish and chips as well, he was very pleased with it.<br/><br/>This place has lunch specials so it's decently priced for selected items which include pizzas, fishnchips, burgers and more. So it's not very expensive from my point of view. Even though my chicken parma costed $26, it was worth it. Decent portion for 1 person who can finish it and tasted superb. <br/><br/>Plenty of parking available around this place so no trouble there. The service was fast and prompt. The staff were lovely as well. An excellent hotel/pub located in Mt Lawley which I'll definitely come to again. I'll most likely try the pizzas next time ❤

A pleasant enough spot for an afternoon drink. A simple but good wine list and good beers on tap. Drum and bass nights remind one of when they were young...

My Local. I LOVE this place for the weekday happy hours and its beer and cider on tap! This is my office after work when it's time to have a debrief or deep and meaningful with friend(s). The bar staff are grungy and laid back, and the location is perfect for a pre-dinner drink. The sweet potato wedges are to die for! The Scotts is a Mt Lawley institution.

Solid pub food. However, my fave aspect of the scotto is that it is a pub for everyone. You can always walk in there and feel welcome. Noone judges you at the Scotto

Great for a beer and Beaufort St hangs. I really like the Scotto. Great burgers and the Steak Sandwich is perfection. The vibe is always very chilled, the staff know what they're doing and the addition of Defector's Bar a while back has made the place even cooler.

Good pub grub - even better during the week when there's specials on. A good in-between option for Beaufort St dining when you don't want something $$$$ but takeaway Mexican doesn't appeal either.

A great old-style pub in the heart of Mt Lawley. A good selection of beers on tap, knowledgeable barmen, quick friendly service. The food looks good but we weren't there to eat. However we'll make a point of going again - I want to try their pizza.

This establishment has a really great selection of lunch specials - most for only $10! A great spot to catch up with a mate and have a pint (or two!)

The Flying Scottsman is my local and I love going along to Wednesday nights, the staff are really friendly and considering how busy it can get they're good at keeping up the pace.

Tuesday steak night a winner. Went for the Tuesday steak special. Went with 4 other lads and we all got the steak special which is steak, salad, chips and pint for $20. Can also upgrade steak/chips to mash/veggies for extra $2.<br/><br/>Steak was good size and everyone enjoyed - great casual atmosphere and one of the better steak special nights I've had around Perth.

Great venue but security staff ruined the night. We were having a good night with friends (3 pers.) till security crew start harassing us, pretending they saw us drinking standing in the non-designated area whereas it was not the case: we were all sitting outside at the table. It seems that security staff enjoyed kicking people out for no reasons and we were not the only people who had to leave on that night . I have to say that the bar staff was great and food was nice but it was such a shame to finish the night in such way because of the security staff. I've been a recurrent customer of the Flying Scotsman over the last 5 years and always enjoyed this venue but such behavior from the security staff is just not acceptable. This is a strong WARNING to the manager board to solve this issue asap before it starts impacting their business, Personally I wont come back to the Flying Scotsman after this issue.

$5 entry fee for the privilege of queuing at the bar for 20 mins at a time. Went to the upstairs bar last night. It was $5 on the door which I figured was ok. But then it was a 20 minute wait, 5 people deep, to get to the bar! To add insult to injury, the barman was wasting time taking pictures of people downing shots on their phones for them....whilst the rest of us could only watch...whilst getting all the more thirsty...!

I had the gnocchi with chorizo and I've never had gnocchi like it before,so light and will definately be back for more,keep up the good work :-)

Those who love Brie cheese wouldn't even like it. The chicken was dry. I don't like dry chicken but that wasn't the issue. The 2cm thick Brie Cheese they put in was rediculous. The whole burger was this Brie cheese, which I like on crackers and could work but not thick like that. No exaggeration. Take a bite and all I can taste is the cheese. I thought it's a chicken burger? Everyone agreed on the table who ordered it. Let's just say it didn't get eaten. <br/>It wasn't busy and the waitress was hopeless! <br/>Won't be coming back for food.

Perfect pizza. Was here with a couple of friends for drinks and needed something to fill a hole in our bellies so ordered a couple of pizzas between us. Crusty base, fresh tasty toppings, but the cheese, omg they got the cheese so right, it was so stringy and yummy. I wanted to order so much more to take home for the rest of the week, and I don't even eat pizza that often!

Gnocci....... OMG, home made gnocci melts in ur mouth! was soooo good. Been thiking about it ever since. Vegie burger was pretty good, but over shadowed by gnocci. Will definatly go back to try more..... and more gnocci. Also drinks pretty well priced.

Was not impressed at all by the food. I had an unfortunate encounter with the 'scotto burger' the burger patty was still raw on the inside, the salad wasn't fresh, the burger tasted bland and lacked flavour and the bun was burnt. I ordered two one for myself and one for my partner and merely asked for one without betroot and the other without relish and tomato sauce instead... I got two burgers without beetroot and sauce and a side of tomato sauce for the chips... After sending it back once I gave up. I also ordered garlic bread which had no garlic flavour whatsoever and was burnt and considering the price you think they would make the food a little better. Was not impressed whatsoever.

Tried a bunch pizzas..really enjoyed the potato pizza. Drinks made and the extensive list you can choose from is fantastic but the wait on a Fri-sat night is ridiculous, so much so we move down stairs so all friends are not missing in action at bar

$10 PIZZA & PINT?!....maybe next time. ..Wanting to pop out for a quick blat on the bikes we went to The Flying Scotsman with the sole intention of trying out the $10 pizza n pint Sunday deal.<br/>However, upon arrival & whilst ambling through the bar area we noticed an interesting/inviting variety platter being consumed at a table of four.<br/>Checked the menu ( then confirmed with the delighted patrons) that it was indeed the "Share" Scotto Platter.<br/>Forget the pizza this looked so good we HAD to try it! <br/>Service was quick. <br/>Food fantastic. <br/>Price =$30 for the two of us!!!<br/>Sensational!!!!

GREAT END TO A WEEKEND. I had a busy weekend full on in other terms then had a birthday party to go to we waked in and the atmosphere was great as always I was hungry so I got the pizza and pint deal on a Sunday I had the veggie pizza only one that took my liking but OMG this pizza was fantastic I will be back Sunday to try again and will keep you all posted

$10 pint and pizza... Well with Perth prices it's like getting a free pizza with your drink. I don't even drink beer, but order one for someone else, just the value for money! That, and largely that alone, is why I like this place and come back.

Delicious cocktails, good food. Having been to Defectors a couple of times for drinks, I was excited to sample more from the food and drinks menus when coming here for an office function.<br/><br/>The espresso martinis are delicious. All other cocktails I tried very good. We ordered a few platters of food and the servings were very, very generous. Everything was very tasty, especially for pub food. The meat platter had some great options, and trying a wide variety of pizzas most were pretty good.<br/><br/>I would go back if only for the espresso martini.

Pub. Best PUB in perth, not for the food , or service , but for the fact is i can walk in all ways feel comfortable get a cheap pint of fosters, 10 dollar jugs on wednesdays and pizza pint sundays, upstairs for a change or velvet lounge. plus i can walk home

Went today on public holiday - understaffed, waited over an hour for a simple fishermans basket and a taste plate. Food was ok but the wait wrecked the experience

Very average experience. Waited nearly an hour for a cold, partly uneatable meal eg. Chips tasted like cooked in old dirty oil. Hideous!

Not recommend their chilli mussels, it's so salty and relatively small. We got ours replaced with even saltier ones.

I followed the new manager here from the last place he looked after, and i have to say his drinks are still amazing! And the venue is also very comfortable and reminds me of a prohibition style place! Defo one to check out!!

Generous portions and very tasty. We've ordered the chicken parmigiana meal several times and find it consistently delicious. Generous portions and always hot.

Don't order the squid!. Had dinner on the 30th of August. Was looking forward to the salt and pepper squid because I had had it before and it was amazing. This time however, it was so salty that I had to peel the batter off each piece. Even though this is my local, I won't be coming back for food!<br/><br/>However, bar service is friendly!

The special aint special.. Ordered the 'special' of satay with rice. The satay sticks were in a sauce that was ridiculously salty, obviously to hide the quality of the meat which tasted off and was over cooked. The rice tasted like it had been cooked a couple of hours ago and left out to be shoved onto the next plate. To be fair a mate had the fish and chips without complaint, he got lucky.

Been here for breakfast many times. Not sure what's happened but the food was not good this time around. Bacon was burnt no muffins with our order. Eggs were over cooked very disappointed.

Nice Greek burger and chips, but the fish of the day was a disgrace, easily the worst 'barramundi' we have seen or eaten, if in fact it was barra. First and last time we will eat there.

Always good service. As a family, we eat here regularly. Now, this is basic pub grub - filling, fatty, hot and great with beer. No point going all Rob Broadfield over the menu! But it's homey. Case in point: we were there 2 weeks ago and my 11 year-old bemoaned the fact that there were no nachos - just their (famous) nacho pizza. We asked the chef (the kitchen overlooks the pub) if he could just do straight nachos. He happily agreed but said we should test the spicy sauce first. The barmaid brought over a tasting plate just to be sure it was mild enough for a child. Take note The Royal on the Waterfront...service and a friendly attitude! <br/>This place is great for a midweek glass of red in the scruffy but familiar surroundings as well!

Plate & A Pint. There is nothing better than spending the weekend with a pint in one had and a tasty dish in front of you - this is what I always expect and get when I eat here.<br/><br/>I have tried so much, from the pizzas to the starters to the burgers and the salads. Always fine fine eating and the atmosphere is awesome. Will always come back time and time again

Nacho Pizza. I've been here twice in the last two weeks, I keep going back to their nacho pizza here as it's just amazing. It's a cool little late night hang out spot during the week. Everyone else on their table seemed quite happy with their meals as well. <br/>The bar staff here are always friendly and the place has an over all nice atmosphere with it.

Upstairs at the cocktail lounge bar... The staff are brilliant... Remember orders from previous visits & make drinks with ease... Brilliant place... Brilliant drinks... Great price... Super friendly & helpful... Highly recommended to stop by and sample the atmosphere and drinks!

Really didn't like the food. I had barramundi special served on basic goreng. Basic goreng was too peppered there was a chilli salsa on top. Just ate the barra which was cooked beautifully. Partner had bangers and mash. Bangers over cooked and mash dry. We won't come here again.

Nice Pub. The Flying Scotsman is always one of the "go-to" destinations for my group of friends. Reasonable prices, quick service, good location.<br/><br/>$10-12 pizza and pints on sundays is always a winner, and its location is convienient for those using public transport.<br/><br/>My ONLY issue with this pub is that, if sitting inside, the music tends to be that little bit too loud, meaning that holding a conversation can be a little difficult, unless you are happy to be constantly shouting over both the music, AND the other people whio are also shouting over the music, it can be really loud sometimes.<br/><br/>Other than that the "Scotto" is always a winner.

I go here most Sunday's for the $10 pizza and pint. Pizzas are top quality even on Sundays. Make sure you wear your best Hipster outfit.

Head upstairs to Defectors and experience food porn!!<br/>They have a chicken , avocado and brie cheese pizza that is out of this world.<br/>The 2 guys behind the bar are great and make a mean cocktail.....

One of the last great pubs left in the area. Great people and refreshingly simple and not sickeningly glossy or shiny. Aka the new hydey. Great bar staff and great food mostly. Never Change! A last post for non chumpy pubs

$10 pint and pizza sundays!. I Always hit up this place for the ten dolla pint and pizzas. Pints have to be a local beer and the pizzas are not huge but for $10 whos complaining? Choice of pizzas are a nice bbq chicken, a spicy jalepino and a margarita with fresh tomatoes to name a few. <br/>Good hearty burgers too with a good selection including a Greek lamb burger which is nice, but just dont get the vegitarian one.<br/>Also a hit is the $10 jugs on wednesday nights, as of that this place is responible for a good few hungover days at work. If I were to have one real pick at this place it would be that it packs out way quick and finding a table after 7 is not easy usually.

Check your change. I have been there a few times recently, but won't be going back in a hurry. Every time I've been there the bar staff has tried to short change me. When challenged they did not hesitate and gave me the proper change from my purchase. Sign of guilt or admission? But for it to be a recurring event, you make up your own mind. But be aware the hapless drinker, for who checks their change after a few!

You get what you pay for.... Tried the $10 pizza and pint on a Sunday and I guess you get what you pay for. Pizzas extremely average with fake chicken and jarred olives but can you complain for this price?<br/> <br/>Busy on a Sunday afternoon so difficult to find a table and attracts a scruffy crowd. <br/><br/>I would recommend to those who are looking for somewhere to get drunk and have a cheap bite to eat but not to those who like their food and are looking for somewhere with some atmosphere.

Just spent a lovely afternoon at the scotto, marred only by some vile "ladies" (in the very loosest sense of the word) smoking and hiding it under the table, very mature-slags, otherwise delightful, delicious drinking & dining:)

Best pub in perth. Gotta love the Scotto on a sunday. Ten dollar pint and pizza, how can you go wrong. The Scotto crowd is always great, and the pizzas are bloody awesome.

Simple pub food cooked well. The pizzas are great and the winter menu has unpretentious hearty pasta and bangers & mash.

There was a lot of options under $20, and $8.50 for a delicious meal. My only complaint is that there were meat pizza for cheaper than the vegetarian options. That just doesn't seem right

The Scotto is a bit like the scruffy, charismatic cousin of the Queens and (being what we understand to be the only viable drinking alternative up this end of Beaufort) was packed, while still maintaining a friendly and informal atmosphere.
