Review Regal Crown - Mount Lawley

Been here four times now and it’s not much too look at when you walk in but by god it the best and most authentic north Indian food I have had in Perth ever !
Ross West
Dined using a Groupon. Warmly received by waitress and all smiles by rest of staff. Food was tasty and plentiful. Other diners who arrived just after us had a similar dining experience. Job well done and definitely will be back.

The two stars are exclusively for the service, as the waitress was absolutely awesome and sweet. Everything else is nothing short of appalling. The butter chicken was likely the worst I've ever had, out of many dozens. It tasted like honey with a barbecue tomato sauce, and was thin instead of creamy. The malai kofta was only marginally better. The mango lassi is some cheap mix, the seekh kebab could have been directly from the supermarket, the ice-cream and dumpling desserts were so disgusting we couldn't finish it. Peering into the dim and grubby kitchen while paying made me feel more sick than I already was. Yes the groupon deal is bait and looks good, especially when combined with a 4.3 rating. Don't fall for it, the rating has to be mostly created by people who don't know the first thing about indian food or how it should taste. I wonder how the chef can call himself by that title... For heaven's sake, go taste some real indian food and learn from them!

Went for dinner on Tuesday night. The seekh kebabs and chicken tikka were very good, tasty, tender and juicy. For mains we ordered vindalo, rogan josh and tikka masala and it was also very good. The naans were very soft and fluffy just like bread. Compliments to the chef.

The “For Lease” sign appearing above this establishment really won’t come soon enough. Came here on a groupon voucher recently which I thought was an invitation in itself. However it is not, too many rules and ridiculous questions on arrival was really not worth entering this rather dull and shabby looking establishment, staff member as cold as the atmosphere here. So sad as the food was great but really, we won’t be returning for more of these complicated time wasting Groupon arrival rituals. July 2019 update. As predicted, for lease sign has appeared...this was inevitable and well deserved.

The food was very very nice, and so were the staff. As far as I'm concerned, its the best value Indian restaurant in Perth. Sorry that I didn't take any photos. Very pleasant surrounds, and clean.

Amazing food, great service, nice staff and fair pricing! We'd definitely come back!

Very nice Indian food. Coupon deal of $60 for 4 includes entree, main course, dessert and sift drinks. The restaurant itself is not flash.

Absolutely disgusting! Me and my husband went there for dinner. We have just sat down, the lady comes in to take an order. I mean seriously? Like get us some water or ask us if we ready to order yet! Anyways after a while we ordered samosas for entree, And I found a hair in one of my samosas,it was terrible. We told the hostess but she didn’t take it too seriously. Her response was not the kind we expected. It ruined the dinner already. We wanted to get momos as it was chefs recommended but they didn’t have it. Couple more items we asked for they didn’t have it. We had got some Currys. We asked for mild but it was soooo hot, couldn’t eat it. We emailed them about our experience and the reply we got was just stupid.
The experience overall was horrible and wouldn’t recommend anyone to dine there. First reason the customer service is bad , and the food is not hygienic. Also the menus have changed with increased prices.

I love this place. No fuss, tasty and old-school food which ticks all the yummy Indian boxes. Great naan and the entrees are solidly good. It's one of those great local eateries.

Curry for two with entre, softdrinks, rice and naan for only $39!!!! Absolute bargain. Almost half price to other places ive been to lately. Was really tasty too. Definitely worth a visit

That's been a hell restaurant.. No one knws how to talk with their customers.. giving non vegetarian things to vegetarian ones.. Never ever suggest any one to be there😡😡.. Hope they get down with their arrogance and false attitude nd look forward to move with positive attitude.. gud luck guys👍👍

First of all, excellent customer service! Always service with a smile!
I've been there twice and will always go back, the food is fresh and tastes great!

Ordered a butter chicken, a paneer masala, rice and three serves of garlic naan through menulog for delivery. Decent sized serves and the first order discount was appreciated as it negated the $5 delivery free. The butter chicken sauce was a little on the sweet side but still enjoyed it. The garlic naan was disappointing though, of the three serves, two were cold, dry and chewy. Only one serve was warm and fluffy.

It's changed hands recently but food is still great. The nicest service- lovely lady made us feel right at home even though we arrived late and were the only customers. BYO. And good selection. Great for takeout or casual meal

Allegedly open until 9.30, just turned up at 8.45pm to order takeaway. Front door locked, person at counter knelt down to hide but left her hand on the bench top so I could see her. Poor show.

In a word.. disappointed.

Delivery was late, but not massively. Driver had zero change what so ever (we ordered online with cash as payment type) the change would have been less than $4 but that isnt the point, we tip happily but having no change when cash is selected is unacceptable.

To our order.

Our deep fried chicken in Nepalese sauce, frankly tasted & looked like soggy sweet n sour from a chinese. Our onion baaji were raw in the middle. Our potato dish was replaced by another with cauliflower. As it was unavailable. It wasn't particular appetizing, nor awful. The saffron rice was fine. The garlic naan (touted on menulog as best in Perth) was dry and flavorless. We didnt recieve our mango chutney at all. Overall Subpar is being kind.

I called to give feedback and the lady was apologetic and suggested our next order would be better.

Sadly we wont be going back.. or recommending others on that front..

We've eaten here several times after discovering one month ago. Quality, authentic food, lovely service, simple and delicious, decent pricing.

We have used this place several times in the past for takeaway, but won't be using again. We placed an order that cost $70 and was told delivery would be an hour. After an hour and forty minutes our delivery arrived (9.50pm)
We had ordered sheek kebabs (which were dry and salty) tandoori chicken (tasteless) Lamb Madras (this was not a madras and seemed to be just lamb in a butter chicken sauce) and the naan tasted and looked like one you d grab from the freezer at Coles.
Extremely disappointed and won't be going back.
Not sure if this place has changed hands or chef, but something is different.

Have been here twice and had different experience each time.
The first time the food was amazing, easily one of the best Nepalese / Indian food we had in Australia. Ordered a masala naan, which was sensational and also an aloo Sadeko which was devine.
Next visit, a few week later, we ordered Bhatmas Sadeka, which was no were near as nice as the Aloo Sadeko. We ordered the masala naan, which I believe was a completely different dish this time and was below par. Also had the chilli aloo, which was just boiled potatos coated in ketchup and paid $14 just for this dish, just unbelievable!

A quiet Saturday night in was in order after a hectic week at work. The only problem, Mr. T and I were too exhausted to cook, so we had to leave my comfortable bubble of an apartment and went in search of food. After a few minutes of driving around aimlessly and me scrolling through Zomato to find a restaurant that would accept us in our pyjama-like outfits. We made a decision to try Regal Crown. I'm not saying they attract badly dressed customers, they just looked cosy and welcoming. We were totally right, the waitress did not bat an eyelid when she saw two under-dressed zombies walking in, instead she welcomed us warmly and seated us at a comfortable table.

I go to Regal regularly as it is just around the corner from me, mostly for takewaway. The meals are absolutely delicious, plentiful and of a very high quality - every time i have been it has been consistent and the service at the counter is always personable and friendly. Have tried lots of selections from the menu and pretty much can't go wrong with any. Love it.

This is our favourite local! Best curries in Perth!! The tikka masala and goat masala curries are amazing! Such friendly and prompt service. Definitely worth trying!!
Brian Parker
Yes, great indian food. Quality and priced right. Great friendly service. Stop in and give it a go on Lord St. Parking is a bit tricky, but worth the U-turn. Order the goat !

Beware BYO corkage!!!!. Had dinner here for the first time a few weeks ago on recommendation of friends who had been there a couple of times. Good ambience, great food, attentive service, however was extremely surprised & disappointed at the corkage fee, charged on the basis of $2.50 per head. There were 10 of us, with each couple sharing only one bottle of wine (5 bottles), which we opened ourselves as they were screw caps. I wonder how they charge this fee if there are any diners not drinking???? Wouldn't mind so much if it was charged per bottle. Will probably return, but be very wary of corkage if there is a crowd of you!!!!!

Delicious food! We had 6 different dishes & all were so yummy. Service was very attentive. Only thing on the down side was it was a bit bright in the restaurant, would be more ambient with dimmed lights.

Have been 3 times and love the decor, the Staff and the food is fantastic, naan bread is sublime, it has just renovated and sometimes quiet but yum food BYO

Beautiful indian. Best indian I have had in a very long time. Have ordered takeaway x5 times, and very consistently good. Love the goat curry, the butter naan and the chicken curry

Tasty food, good service and great value. Recommended

Great food, very reasonably priced. The homemade chicken momos were a real highlight with a delicious filling and silky wrapper on the outside. We will be back.

Amazing!. Probably the best Indian we've tried in Perth. Get the chicken tikka masala, the lamb kadhai was excellent as well. Absolutely delicious and streets ahead of competing Indian restaurants in Mt. Lawley. We will be back!

A great local restaurant with delicious food. Love that it's BYO. Goat curry and lamb sarg and mixed naam breads were the standouts. Have been 3 times.

Reasonably-priced lunch menu. A nice spot on Lord Street helped by the convenience of parking out the back, Regal Crown is a good place to sit down for a curry'n'rice lunch.

We had the goat biryani, chicken tikka masala and and a tandoori chicken wrap. All were tasty and not too spicy. I think the food here is a good bet, both for people like curry and also those who aren't that experienced in subcontinental cuisine. Those who like it hotter can always add a hot pickle or cut chillies to their meals. Being a Nepalese restaurant, you'll find some dishes that aren't on your usual Indian take-away menu; including momo's

A nice, clean, air-conditioned, well-appointed, friendly restaurant with tasty dishes.

Second visit, still fantastic. I stopped in here a month ago attracted by the promise of Nepalese and Indian food. I ended up grabbing a takeaway, but it took me forever to order as the selection of dishes is significant and they all sound delicious. The final order lived up to the promise and was fresh and tasty, with generous serving sizes (and plenty of meat and veggies in the curries).

I came back again tonight with a group of friends to dine in and had a great experience. Everything was delicious, including fluffy naan and paratha and fragrant curries. Service was great and we were very comfortable throughout dinner.

My favourite dishes have included the dal makhni and palak paneer, but everything we had was great. The butter chicken is one of the best I've tasted and the gravy was unreal. Very reasonably priced too!

My partner and I are devout foodies. The Regal Crown is the best Nepalese Indian in Perth bar none. If you don't come and sample their tantalising dishes then you are truly missing out on the most amazing flavor & cuisine served with kindness and genuinely considerate, prompt service. Lighting perhaps could be softened but this is the only negative but I had to dig deep to find a -ve at all.

A fresh, delicious, and value-for-money addition to the Maylands area restaurant scene.. My wife and I always wondered how the erstwhile randomly situated curry place on Lord St kept going for so long with no apparent customers, but we never had a desire to try it out. We always thought maybe it would make a nice fish and chip shop. So when we saw that it had been refurbished and was under new management we were intrigued. With the wife out, tonight I decided to give it a go...

To put it simply: I am very satisfied and will definitely be returning. I LOVE their sauces. On their website they say they value local, organic, seasonal produce and you can taste it in every mouthful. The chicken momo were so fresh and perfectly steamed. The momo sauce was absolutely delicious, and in the absence of my more refined half I was free to be as uncouth as I wished and scooped out the remaining sauce with my finger. This gave me great delight.

A lot of the curries looked standard Indian fair, so I was interested to see how they would stack up against the Maylands Indian Curry House (which when it first began was outstanding before the chef was snapped up to Grill 'n' Chill, but still holds its own rather well). I tried a curry I haven't had before, the Lamb Kadhai. You know that rare curry where every mouthful is a pleasure because the sauce is so delicious? This was one of those curries. I loved the sauce. A beautiful combination of herbs and spices, rich but not too oily. And talk about value for money. There was almost too much lamb here! The takeaway container was full to the brim (the momo were excellent value too) and even though I'm a guy who can pack away a heap of food, I couldn't finish it. OK, that could have been because I also ordered basmati rice and roti, and they gave me free papadums too...

Which brings me to the 2 negatives. The lamb in the curry was slightly overcooked, but only slightly. And as you can tell it didn't do much to dampen my enthusiasm for the dish. Also the roti wasn't as light and fluffy as I'd hoped, although I'm prepared to slightly reserve judgement as I was 5 minutes late to pick it up, plus the 5 minute drive home, which could have diminished its lightness and/or fluffiness.

Overall though, I would go back tomorrow just to try more of their sauces and condiments (the butter chicken at the Indian Curry House when it first opened was sublime - I'm very keen to see how the Regal Crown's stacks up.) Couple that with the outstanding value for money, and I'm very hopeful that this will be a new staple in our takeaway repertoire. Given the difficult location I sincerely hope that these guys succeed, so please do give it a go!

Regal Crown - A little Gem!. Great little restaurant for all aspects of accessability, friendly family service and generous serves of fantastic food at awesome prices. Well done to the new operators a shining example of what Perth needs a lot more of.

Great Value. We dined here last Saturday evening and are heading there again tonight. Really, really impressed and terrific value - $40.50 for two (BYO). It helps that we can walk to the restaurant but they do have a parking area at the rear. We opted for chicken korma, rogan josh with cumin and coriander rice and garlic naan bread. Delicious.
The new fit out is a vast improvement and while they still have a little fine tuning to complete all in all we think that the Regal Crown deserves to succeed and is a very welcome addition to the area. Give it a go, we're confident you won't de disappointed.

We tried a few takeaways and the quality, price and flavour was excellent. The butter chicken has that real smokey tandoor flavour, not bland like a lot of places. The naans and parathas are top notch too. Look forward to trying more of the menu.

Great flavours and taste. Excellent newcomer to the local scene - obtained take-a-way and very impressed with flavour, taste and price. Well done.

Very Tasty Food. I had entry shami kebab and chicken tikka which are so delicious and tasty. For main meal I had goat curry, Naan, rice and veggie. I like all kind of food that was served to me. Cool service and tasty food in reasonable price was really amazing. I will go back regal crown with my family next time soon. Thumbs up chef for serving so tasty food.

Good start. Got a few dishes today for a work lunch. We ordered some chicken, lamb and goat dishes. Great choice of naans and rices too. No complaints from anyone. The bonus was quality ingredients at a really reasonable price. Huge menu. Links to website and Facebook not working yet but still a good start. Good luck guys.

Early days but two thumbs up. Having received a menu in my letterbox I thought Ill support this newly opened restaurant. We had a butter chicken and dal pancharanga - both were tasty and beautifully fresh and with good portion sizes it represents good value for money.
