One of the Best coffees in Perth. Bespoke artisan pastries and savouries by the French owners. They make everything on site, not just an outlet. CASH ONLY

Ordered the chocolate caramel tart for my birthday and it was the best! The gentleman who served me was so lovely and helpful, letting me know the best way for the tart to be served. I can't wait to try everything else in the store!

We got a pain au chocolat and a plain croissant to takeaway. The texture of the pastry is more like a bread and not good quality puff pastry. It doesn’t appear to be made with the correct ratio of butter (or not enough folds) as there is little to no lamination. We bought it on a Saturday at about 9.00am and both tasted a bit stale and dry. Not sure if we were sold products from the day before or if this is the usual quality. As a first impression it was not good enough to try again.

We tried profiteroles from all over Perth, trying to find the best ones for our wedding croquembouche. Hands down these guys make the best ones and everyone at our wedding was raving about how good it looked and tasted!

Wonderful! Gourmet countryside taste, rich pastry and tasty filling, I’d say it’s homemade cooking! The service was kind and attentive to our needs. Hidden gem kind of atmosphere 🎀

Worst Bakery I remember to have been in Australia. The two french persons working were very rude and not kind at all. We got one crossaint and one danish, both of them were not good at all but we decided to dont say anything. We also ordered a cappucino and a chai latte. The cappucino was not good at all and cold. The chai latte was also cold and not good. I asked for Cinnamon for the chai latte and they didnt have it (who doesnt have cinnamon in an bakery?? Especially selling chai latte). Then we asked for another cappuccino because it was cold and the guy did a new one which was actually good, which proves they can do good if they want. Then the worst part comes: when we got the new cappucino, the guy waited in the door, looking at us with bad face, waiting for a positive feedback which we gave. Then he looked to the other worker and did a gesture on the throat saying like "we kill them". Not recommend at all, We have passed 5 bakeries on the way there and I am sure we could find a better one.

My partner & I love going to this Patisserie for Sunday Breakfast’s! Great Food, coffee and staff! we especially love the homemade sausage rolls! They are dog friendly and can park right out the front :)

Lemme tell you something about this place. I’ve walked past it many a time, never going in as I’ve never had the chance. DO NOT skip this place. The customer service is warm, and lovely, and their Chocolatine and escargot are some of the best I’ve had. I don’t usually write reviews, so take this as a sign. Love this place. I will be back for more.

LOVE LOVE LOVE! The food here is all hand-made, fresh and DELICIOUS. Sometimes the only downfall is that it is so small, so if you want to eat in sometimes it's so busy you can't get a table - but then we just order take-away and go to a park. The coffee isn't up to the high food standard, but that doesn't worry me; after all i'm not really there for the coffee. The savoury chicken and mushroom tarts are AMAZING!!

This is my absolute one stop shop for beautiful desserts and pastry fixes. Every time I bring their 'lemon lime brûlée' to a celebration, people don't stop talking about it for weeks. The quality is the best you will find in Perth, no competition.

I have been coming here for few years. Love all their food! Must come early to get chocolatine and all the baguettes are so yummy! My fav one is the turkey baguette

Beautiful! Bloody iiNet was down at home again so I needed something to lift my spirits. "New York" did the job!
The owners are absolutely wonderful, cheerful and so easy to talk to. I admire people that take pride in what they do. Everything looks delicious in display...I want to try all of them!

Scents of Taste, you just got SERVED. Went to Scents of Taste twice on my way to work (that would make me a potential regular customer). The rudeness on display here DAZZLED ME. My first transgression was presenting my debit card only to be TUTTED and TOLD OFF for not seeing a tiny, badly written sign indicating the EFTPOS minimum. Sheesh! Anyhoo I spent enough to get over the minimum and got coffee and pastry items that were semi-decent, hence my fateful decision to return. I called in to get one of those heart shaped pastries, no one was at the counter, I was in a rush so I absentmindedly grabbed one from the basket on the counter. All of a sudden I was bamboozled by the same guy who served me before, and proceeded to chastise me for contaminating his food with my filthy disgusting hands. Well buddy, how about serving people when they are waiting at the counter or keeping food behind a glass display if you want to keep it untouched by human hand? Best of all was when he served it he wasn't wearing gloves so I guess his hands aren't a problem? I have never written an urbanspoon review before, but as a Mount Lawley local since 2002 I love the place and seek to protect it from interlopers that DON'T BELONG HERE. Mount Lawley is a place for good times, good food and good people who treat each other with love and respect. From the sweet peeps at the Sunshine cafe to the friendly bouncer at the Scotto who sends you off with a smile even if you've had a few too many. It is a COMMUNITY that you should feel honoured to be part of, and with any luck the urbanspoon thumbs downs will keep coming for this place and they'll be moved OUT ASAP. Like I said I'm not an "urbanspooner" but I am so disgusted by the service at this place I had to speak up about it.
....
Scents of TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!. After walking in with a couple of friends only to be greeted with a blank stare by the two gentlemen opposed to a smile and a hello things were not off to a good start. We then asked for two large coffees as we saw there were two options stacked at the front counter (a small and a large cup size). We were then told we could not have the larger option and when we asked why as we saw the two sizes we were rudely told they only do the smaller option and he could not do it??? We thought wow he must be joking but he then he proceeded to say no we could not and just stared at us, we began to reconsider ever coming into this café and could not believe the level of rudeness. He then changed his mind saying we could and rudely asking what we would like then.... We decided not to order anything as we were very disappointed at the unbelievably bad customer service we were receiving. We would have spent $20 each there today but we refuse to support people with such a lack of common courtesy and customer service. There are plenty of other small businesses in the Mount Lawley area who deserve our money and who would go above and beyond for their customers or simply treat their customers with respect. I will never return to this "Scents of Taste Patisserie Mount Lawley" and as I work in this area I will be informing all of my colleagues and friends that this place is not deserving spending a cent of your hard earned money on.

Overpriced for what's offered. Not overly impressed with the service nor selection of cakes when first tried two years ago. The Danish pastry was good.
Yesterday, finding ourselves in the vicinity we decided to try Scents again and bought a trio of sweet pastries.
The almond croissants, over browned rather than golden were still enjoyable. The little raspberry almond tart ($7) was disappointing. The tart bowed in my hand - pastry was limp as though refrigerated and lacked the faint crispness of a freshly served tart. There was a decent raspberry flavour but rest of the filling was bland.
Service still lacking in warmth - and that's what lingers long after the pastries are gone!

Great. Alway received great service fabulous coffee and tasty food

Mixed Bag. The biggest disappointment with this place is its inconsistency - some of the sweets on offer are simply delicious, while others are nothing more than bland.

Given a great coffee would compliment any patisserie, it is also disappointing theirs is simply passable.

The one time we ventured away from our usual choice menu item, the food was average.

However, we have been back several times and it is all due to their quiche lorraine - a fantastic choice for a cheap and light breakfast/lunch and I'd recommend trying this place for this alone.

But until they lift in both consistency and service, which is also lacking, I can understand why this place is often empty.
Perthy Diner
Best patisserie in perth!!. OMG i LOVE this place!! the spinach ricotta roll and chutney is my all time favourite, the chocolate strawberry mousse birthday cake i ordered there was one of the most amazing desserts ever, and over all the coffee, pastry's everything is just delectable!!! only shame is the loco i wish it was on the main Beaufort st strip but the food more than makes it worth your while to visit there! plus the french owners are gorgeous!

Delicious. Tried a coffee (Soy Cap) this morning and found it to be delicious! Almost better than my favourite at Voyage in Sorrento. Also tried a Fruit Tart. This was sensational, custart perfect and creamy, fruit fresh and sweet, tart base was crunchy but moist and also easy to bite. Not overly sweet but perfect in flavours. Also just had a Turkey, Cranberry, Brie, Avocado and lettuce baguette. Best Baguette I have had in ages. Bread was fresha nd crunchy, its a little more than I would usually pay but its worth it and worth going there for a nice way to treat yourself.

We Loved It!. These guys make the best Croque Monsieur I have ever had and I lived in France for 5 years. The best. Also, they are a really nice couple:) I took my friends in and they all think I am awesome now.

Scents of outrage!. Price is generally not a concern to me, as long as what I'm getting tastes good. But $6!! for a truly awful sausage roll is a disgrace. Soggy greasy pastry, and a filling, that even being kind, was of poor quality. This coupled with unfriendly service, makes a return visit out of the question.

I cannot comment on their sweets other than they look decent, however I cannot be as kind to their coffee which was below average at best. The thing however, that really ticked me off, was that the baguette i purchased tasted and appeared like it was a supermarket product. For my breAd needs I will stick to the subiaco farmers markets or jp sancho. However the almond croissant that we tastes was fine. Nothing mind blowing, but still tasty.

Best H&C croissants and chocolate macaroons in town by some distance. Tres bien boys....

Love this place! The coffee is sime of the best in Mount Lawley and is never bitter. The food is very decadent, everything is made by the 2 owners & I've seen them in there baking at 4am (walking home after a big night out ;) I also love that they're open on Sundays now.

Bad Service. Went to scents of taste this morning Saturday 23 June 2012 to buy a cake. Waited at counter to be served and both staff completly ignored us while serving other people who came in after us. Won't be going back.

Raspberry tart was nice, coffee a bit weak, seating area was a few car bays separated off, not very flash. Really disappointing that the area became filled with smokers - even think one of them was a staff member from the shop. Not a great experience, won't be back :-(

Long live scents of taste from local 8yo and sister. The Paris Brest is just fantastic! I cant say anything bad about the delicious food, even though its a small range its fabuloso! Sometimes better to just do what you do well rather than try and be everything to eveyone.
My mum has the coffee and likes it. My sister has the caramel eclair and Dad chocolate eclair.

Cakeeee. Well my bf heard that this place is good so we thought we will give it a try. Anyways, we wanted to order the lime tart thing but they sold out and when we went it was only like 1ish... anyways... so we got the hazelnut cream cake and the passion-choc cheesecake instead, along with a cup of flat white and earl grey.

so the hazelnut one is pretty good.. the cream is light so it's not that filling, which is really really good. The flat white however, according to my bf.. it's probably one of the worst coffee in Perth.

my passion-choc cheesecake was yummy but too rich... i was full half way already.

i recommend to go early and choose a sunny day to go.. because the seats are limited and it's a very small place... well unless you get take away.

Lemon Brulee Tart. Great tasting dessert - perfect with a latte or cappucino!

A Little Taste of France. I go here every Saturday morning to buy a sourdough baguette - the closest in taste and texture to the baguettes I have had in Paris. The quiches and pastries are also delicious and the two French gentlemen that run the shop are delightful and friendly. I haven't tried their coffee, but can highly recommend dropping in and purchasing something to take home.

Great coffee (strong & never bitter) and a mouthwatering selection of savoury and sweet delicacies. Very friendly service adds to the French charm, whether eating in (outside under umbrellas) or taking away.

This patisserie uses a her poor brand of coffee. Just go here for the cakes

Given I love pastries, I stumbled upon this place while my cousin and I were searching for a restaurant to go out to for a birthday. French restaurants in particular. If you love to indulge in French pasties every so often, try this place out.

Who makes the best pastries in the world? Is it the Italians? Maybe the Danish with their world famous "Danish" pastries? Or perhaps it's the French with their extravagant and rich range of treats? Whoever it might be, I can't believe I'm sitting here wit
