Review Zambrero Mt Lawley - Mount Lawley

Swati
I so much like their veg burritos but invariably some staff in the eve not doing their job well and putting very less beans making it overall dry, lacking texture n taste. Whereas, during the day the burritos r mostly excellent. I also think the beans dry up by eve too and arent as fresh for some reason. Hoping quality is improved and consistent and can give better rating.

These guys make the best gluten free burrito. It always fills me up, I’ve tried some of the other Zambrero stores and had issues with cross contamination of which I addressed with Head Office. This store is all over Criss contamination. Well done Zambrero...you’ve successfully retained a customer. Definitely will eat here again!

So the burritos here are a 10/10, my favourite place to get a burrito BUT sometimes the workers can make the burrito smaller than it is suppose to be. Like I'm not about to pay $10 for a burrito that is the sized of a $6 burrito, but still, good quality burritos

Terrible customer service. Ordered through uber Eats. They missed out the guacamole on the iQ bowl, and also didn't supply the burrito I ordered. Rang them after the uber app wouldn't give me the option to replace the food. The guy on on phone was no help at all. Said I could come in and collect the correct food order. But they couldn't pay for delivery. Even tho it was 100% their mistake. WTF

Love watching the guy behind the counter checking his phone then touching all the salsas and cheese etc without changing his gloves. At the best of times this would be gross, given what a Petri dish of germs a smartphone is - but right now it’s downright sociopathic.

Me and my friends walked into the mount lawley zambreos to find pigeons eating out of the salad containers, which they fill with our burritos! Very unhygienic and lost customers. Won’t be going back ...
Serge Riso
The person behind the counter was too busy talking to his friend, and didn't notice that I was waiting for a while. Next time I want a burrito, I will just stick to Guzman y Gomez just across the street .

The young lady that served us this evening was outstanding. Her positive energy & polite manner was awesome, the food was spot on. Great customer service 👌

If you like franchised food joints that bastardise foreign cuisines and do so in a thoroughly soulless manner then this is the place for you. I dunno what to tell you bout the food - it's corn chips with stuff on top (I don't accept that 'nachos' constitutes a 'meal') and tortillas wrapped around stuff. Mostly bland homogenised stuff but there it is. Why is there rice in a burrito anyways? Why would you wrap a starchy carb in another starchy carb? Makes no sense. Staff are super friendly & im pretty sure I even heard the term 'coolio' bandied about. Not even joking. I'd have been happy to sacrifice a little friendliness for staff who pay attention to diners who've just left and wiped down tables without having to be asked 3 times. And to the 'lady' who gave me the death stare coz I dared ask for a clean table to sit at, to you I say get thee back to Sizzler where u belong.
I've been to few of the zambrero branches and I think this is my least favourite. Firstly I didn't know where to stand as the place is really awkwardly set up. People were standing wherever not knowing who's first to be served. I ordered my usual burrito and the service was quick and friendly. When I bit into my burrito the tortilla was still cold and hard. It wasn't fully heated up which spoiled the texture of my burrito. May be I was just unlucky but I'm not too sure if I'll be quick to return here.
Homerj
Really disappointed- my wrap was not fresh and I didn't enjoy mine at all ! I normally go to Tuart hill and always have a fresh tasty meal
Will not be returning to this branch !
The Go Go Mumma
A great little place and consistent in my experiences coming here. The staff have always been friendly and up for a chat. No complaints from this diner.
Small Girl, Huge Appetite
YUCKKKKK.I had two beef tacos and two pork tacos, the meat was like a cold mush, not juicy and tender and the taco shells came out of a packet and tasted stale. Very over priced too.
Jocelyn
Love the service in here the staff are really nice and friendly and make good burritos which are also tasty. only thing that's a bummer is the price.
ZZQ
The burrito tasted good but overall it was poor value for money at almost $15. The burrito itself was small and there was very little meat filling inside.

I'm sure there are other much better options out there in terms of both quality and quantity.

On a positive note it was not excessively salty, which I usually find to be a problem with Mexican joints.
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
Probably my favourite Mexican chain. The ingredients are always fresh, I love the addition of rice in the burrito's and the burrito bowls are a wonderful idea too. Fast food but a healthier option.
Ryan
The taste of the food isn't too bad, the black rice and pork is quite tasty, however the price ruins it. 2 superbowls and taco for $42 odd? From a franchise? With 33% of the bowls consisting of lettuce? No, I think I'm done here.
Bek
this is for the new midland store, not a patch on the Mount Lawley one

miserable servings, nothing like Mount Lawley Zambrero's
Not very friendly staff at all , inflated prices too

super disappointed...
J Smith
Guzman y Gomez is way better. The chicken isn't marinated in anything too tasty and not as fresh as Guzman. Just drive a lil longer for a better burrito.
T122
It was good but they've been gradually pushing up their prices by about 20% over the last couple of years. It has gone from $11.90 to $14.40 for a burrito with guacamole. As a local, I know it's made me think twice a few times lately and now I only go occasionally. Friendly Japanese place across the road is much cheaper.
The burritos are reasonably good though to be fair so that's why it gets 2 and a half stars.
Malcolm
So far so good...staff are young but friendly and the food has never failed to be good and tasty. Generally prefer to go without rice but the black rice is tasty and an occasional treat. Paid extra for the avocado but only received a tiny smear, no more than a tablespoons worth so probably not worth the extra $$.

This Zambrero is one of the worst ones I have been to compared to the others all over Perth. They always get the orders wrong. We are a few colleagues from work who write our orders and give it to them but there is always one or two orders that are not correct. Today we got Nachos for $12.90 with just beans, sour cream and tortilla chips. All the other items ticked on the order were missing. Kids quesadillas is missing from their menu! The other time we ordered power bowl and they did not put the black rice because rice had not been ticked on the order. Why would anyone order power bowl if they did not want the black rice - they could order the ordinary bowl! Staff need to be trained thoroughly!
HannahG
I liked it. Quick friendly and delicious! Need I say more?

Just lovely service. Here with my 4 children tonight and ordered a burrito, nachos and taco. All the food was lovely and fresh. Meat was cooked beautifully but the standout was the lovely young lady who served us at 5.15. Service with an absolute smile. How refreshing.
Pris
Hey there!. Had the black rice bowl with chicken. It was pleasantly spicy and rice had a very lovely texture and favour. At below $14 it is your typical cost for a mexican bowl or large burrito. I would return if I could not decide what to have for lunch.

I wish zambrero had fish burrito though.
Amy
Served by a real sourpuss when I came to Zambrero the other night. What's more, all of the food is reheated and not fresh. Sloppy burrito with not much flavour! I much prefer Salsa's across the road since they've stepped up their game!
Ryan Anderson
The best Zambrero In Perth, probably best Fast-Mexican too!. Nothing comes close to these burritos in Mount Lawley. Salsas, as many have said, is brutal. The burritos weigh more than a newborn, packed with flavour, a superb chipotle sauce and hands down the friendliest staff you could wish for.
Beefpaddy
Incorrect opening time. I went to mt lawley zamberos on my lunch break today and arrived there at ten to twelve. I opened the door and was informed by a young woman that the store was not open yet despite the opening and closing times on the front door stating it opened at 11 on Wednesdays. Now I know this is a rather trivial complaint but I did find the whole experience incredibly inconvenient
ShadyLady
Overpriced, inconsistent, stupid music, slack staff, tasteless and consists of about five ingredients... Trying to promote health but selling coke? Okaaaaaay
Adam Co
Stopped in for a late lunch, not busy so served quickly.. Staff nice and chatty.. I had the beef burrito which was great.. Meat was tender with good flavour and all salads were super fresh which made it that more enjoyable.. Will definately be back again..

YUM. I love this place. Their bowls are delicious. Always taste so fresh; the portion sizes are excellent and it's the cheapest Mexican I've found yet!
Rickbigc
Stopped by for an impromptu dinner and fell in love with the beef (hard shell) taco. Mmmmm, taco. Will definitely be back soon.
Julia
We order a beef and a chicken burrito- both were tasteless! The meats lacked flavour and the salsa we had were just as bad. The plus side was the size of the burrito and they didn't skip on the filling, which was nice to see. Won't be going back- salsa's down the road is much better...sorry
Martyool27
Great. Had the chicken Burrito a few times now
always packed full of flavor and has not disappointed
highly recommend trying this place if in the area!

Temperature never hot enough. Always wish the food could be hotter in temperature. Maybe use a sandwich press like kebab places do. That would add a bit a of crispness too (which everyone likes) yes that lacks authenticity but Zambrero doesn't have pork on the menu with is very lame considering it's meant to be mexican.
Good Food Gal
Good food....quick. Fantastic, quickly and tasty burritos! Will be back time and time again
Believeinyourself
It's quick Mexican fast food, nothing to rave about but if you're after a quick snack on the go, it's definitely the place to go.
Maria Carciotto
Sloppy joes????. The meat they use was pureed slops. The Nachcos and the burrito were soggy and the flavour was not Mexican. Not worth the $25 spend. Its a shame, has potential.
Rofl Harris
More 'Meh' than Mexican. This is bad.

It doesn't taste Mexican but they really don't give you much of a chance to find out what the food tastes like - the majority of each burrito is lettuce.

1/4 of an iceberg lettuce in a flour tortilla? No thanks.
S.Slayer
The Go to Place. If there wasn't a quick burrito place nearby, I am not sure what I'd do. If ever in doubt at what to eat for lunch or even a quick dinner, Zambrero is always the place to go for something yummy.
Staff are accomodating with small adjustments to orders and try to make sure the orders are right, even when busy.
Bonus scores for their Plate4Plate scheme as well.

Had the chicken burrito, it was fabulous! Fresh and tasty salad and salsa and succulent meat! Friendly and fast staff who were happy to serve! Makes a change from a lot of the other places around town.

Ahy Caramba!. Its great!

Mixed Feelings. I'm a bit unsure how I feel about Zambrero. I kinda like the concept...but the execution of it (for me) failed slightly. Now...don't get me wrong - it's not a bad place - it's just that my first experince with this kind of "Mexican Subway" concept was with The Flying Taco in North Perth and that (still - to this day) was probably what set the bar so high for me.

The food is VERY filling and given it's location (right near the Flying Scotsman) I see this place doing amazingly well. My only disappointment was with the food preparation process. A lot of the meats were pre-cooked and kept warm until you ordered it - which kind of put me off a little bit.

I wouldn't say no to going back there if I were asked again...but I wouldn't be going out of my way to go back either.

Not worth it. I had been wanting to try this place for ages because a few people had told me it was well priced, tastes and healthy. I guess this goes back to that old joke, you can tell its healthy cause it tastes bad!!! My partner I got 2 of the burritos and the chips and dip. The chips and dip were so horrible! The guacamole was so lumpy, the avocados had literally just been cut up and mixed up a but. And the burritos were honestly tasteless. I live 5 minutes away from the mt lawley shop and by the time I got home it was stone cold! I wouldn't say it was bad, it just wasn't good, not worth paying money for. The other issue was the service. It was not busy at all, there were literally 3 people inside eating, all in the one group. It took the girls at least 5 minutes to come out, we were the only people there wanting to order, and they were just standing their talking not even acknowledging us. Probably the worst part of it was as I said I'd been wanting to try it, but I didn't really know what they had or what I would want and I was ordering for my partner as well so I rang him quickly to ask him what he would want on his burrito, and the two girls there looked at each other and smirked and I felt like such an idiot because I didn't know what I wanted on these bloody wraps. How stupid is that. Had everything else been perfect however the food just wasnt good!

Very tasty quick meal idea. All ingredients was very fresh and the final product was a thumbs up.
You can eat there on little stools etc or take away for a meal on the run.

Staff were nice, slightly over priced and food was nice & fresh but seriously lacking in chilli. I'm not a huge chilli fan but guacamole should have at least a hint of chilli. We got the pedros chips & dip and although everything was nice and fresh, the most flavoursome thing on it was sour cream. Very little flavour and was a little disappointed.

Fantastic food...pretty well priced...$2 for guacamola is a bit excessive, but nonetheless..awesome...mexicans version of subway...very filling and extremely good food...
Eyes On Perth
Unfortunately there was no lime rice available for our burritos so we had to do without. They still charged us a whopping $2 for a smear of guacamole. The steak burrito was nice, as we're the salsas that accompanied it. My burrito wasn't exactly memorable though. Zambrero is a healthy alternative to a dinner-in-a-hurry kebab, but that's as far as it goes for me. A few more smiles from the staff wouldn't hurt, they are free!

Deliciousness. Like others have mentioned this is similar to a mexican "Subway" style restaurant. If you order a burrito($10) you will not walk away hungry! Burritos are packed to the brim with deliciousness! I like that there are so many options in terms of fillings and sauces, it's nice to be able to customise your own mexican flavour.

Zambrero is good for an on the go snack or for those late night stragglers stumbing down from the Scotto!
I will definitely go back for quick take away meal (this is not really a place to "dine", it has as many tables and chairs as a Subway would)!

Perhaps as others have suggested - a few more menu options/sides would be something to consider for the future development of this business.

Not any more.. Burritos are well-priced and very filling. They can easily accommodate vegans. Friendly and very fast service. So glad there's some new and tasty food in Mount Lawley :)

***********Revised: After asking for a "dairy-free" meal and apparently getting it for months, on my most recent visit I was told there's butter in the rice and the beans. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. How hard is it not to put butter in RICE?!!! WTF. The worst.

***********Revised October 2012... They have taken the butter out of the rice and beans! Cant'wait to go back :)

Firstly, this place has sassy womens working there mostly. Germaine Greer probably would say I'm an idiot, and for all intensive purposes she'd be right, but let's just say at this point that it's merely a plus for a young man/lesbian/creepy old man. But let's talk about food! This place is great to duck into for a simple quick and scrumdiddlyupmtious feed. Sometimes all you want is a small $4.50 chicken taco for dinner, so you don't end up looking like a tubthumping chumbawumba. It's the perfect portion size for when you're hungry, but not feeling like you can tackle a six inch subway sandwich, or if you're too ashamed to eat cereal for dinner three nights in a row. I recommend softshell tacos because hardshell ones are unstable, and if you're taking a lady on a date you probably don't want your crotch resembling a jackson pollock painting. Unless she's into art, but I daresay arty ladies would frown upon chipotle sauce pants as much as the ones that want to go back to your house and watch scary movie 4. I also suggest familiarising yourself with the subwayesque menu ordering system. I always assume that people working at such places get mildly annoyed when you fartass around ordering, as much as the people lining up behind you. It's like being stuck behind an old person at a checkout. How did supermarket queues not blow out im 1952? Anyhoo this place is pretty darn tops when you're in the mood for this kinda thing!

This place has been needed for a long time. Finally a cheap healthy alternative to subway that actually has flavour. Amazing

YUM. This place is great!! the girls serving are very nice and chatty, they are also quick and efficient which is good!

Now to the food, its simple and yummy. I had the burrito with chicken and it was huge. I get worried when i order food and it seems a bit to good to be true but this was very surprising and very tasty, and its fresh! I love mexican food and it is about time more of it popped up in perth!

will definitely be going back

The mexican likes the mexican. Strolling down beaufort street with my padre's and we stumble across 'zambrero'. not the biggest menu ive ever seen, not exactly traditional mexican either. however, for what its worth this pace has some good fake mex take away. the disco paper that my burrito was wrapped up in was a tad over the top(nearly had a seizure) but otherwise it was quite tasty. Recommend the vegetarian option. TASTY. all in all, for a quick hit of fake mex this place is the zebra in the sombrero.

Mixed opinions.... We tried this out last week, great location on Beaufort. We had taco's and burrito's. It was delicious but my only complaint is they are REALLY scummy on the meat portions... My burrito was 90% lettuce and only had a few shreds of chicken in but the verde sauce was delicious and it was a good size overall. My kids had taco's and given they aren't fans of lettuce, they had near empty taco shells with a few shreds of beef... They used a measuring cup to portion out the meat and it looked to be around a 1/4 cup size. Even with the grated cheese it was only a small sprinkle. Was $8 for the burrito and $4.50 for the taco's (each).

Dont go on Mondays. I've been frequenting this place since it opened. Me and the misses love the strange kebabs they offer.

The staff have been amazing. Except on MONDAY. Portion was half the size as usual.

Chipotle sauce 4 lyf!

Flavoursome, filling and great value. Popped into this place twice already and have tried the beef burrito and a chicken burrito. I've been impressed both times. Fresh flavours, good combination of toppings and some sauces that pack a punch.

Nice and easy. Great location in the middle of Mt Lawley. Nice fresh salads and delicious sauces.
Seating is good for the size of the venue.
The line can be a little long, but hang in there its worth the wait
Holly Doll
Pretty Fresh. I like this place, to me it dosnt seem like traditional mexican, but it is still pretty tasty.

I had the beef burrito and I was a little suss when they put white rice in the burrito, but the end result was lovely.

It would be my first suggestion for mexican, but I will defiantly try again.
Justin Giudici
Fresh, delicious, wholesome. I'm really impressed with the burrito, decent size(as big as a kebab) with healthy salsa fillings! I don't feel guilty eating this as opposed to other takeaway - I feel it's a good balance of protein vegies carbs and fats- and at around $10 for a good feed i will come again!
Dotty Queen
New and refershing. I stumble across this new mexican place late in the evening. We came to try the next evening. At first we didn't know what to get, but they had the new opening special with Buritos and Tacos + Drink for $15 which is decent. Me and my gf shared the meal and it's fantastic. Very refereshing taste of mexican food and also healthy. I will absoutely come back again to try. Aparenlty, i find out there are other branch as well.
The Chefs Wife
I love Mexican food – a lot. It stems from when I was a kid. In my parents’ house (circa 1992) anything other than “meat, mash and 3 veg” was considered adventurous and exotic; so having Old El Paso tacos was a real treat.
The Ponder Room
Faced with a choice between Salsa's, Zambrero and Pancho's Mexican Villa Restaurant we pondered the following: How hungry are you, are you after a plate of beans, tacos and burritos, potentiall swimming in cheese, or a delicate health inspired morsel? Do you want to scoff and run or linger longer? Do you have a hankering to see and be seen by the passing parade? How's your balance, lower back and
Taste Test - Food.Life
A bit expensive for fast food BUT $10.50 for a burrito that was so well endowed, I didn't mind paying the price. Also when you consider that they are working with the organisation Action Against Hunger (
