Wow wow wow!!!! Celebrated our wedding anniversary here while up on a weekend away. Best food I have ever eaten with service and view to match!! Compliments to the chefs and our waitress Monique who was more than accomedating and helpful 💕 we we're so happy with everything and would recommend to anyone who wants spectacular food 💯
I concur with previous comments the meal was amazing one of the best venison I have ever had, the views are spectacular and staff do everything they can to make your experience special - totally recommend and we will definitely be back can’t wait
Everything about this restaurant is amazing! The food is absolutely delicious, the views are stunning and the staff are incredible. This is easily the best restaurant I have ever dined at! Bistro Molines is a delight to the senses.
We had planned this birthday lunch for weeks and were looking forward to it so much! It certainly didn’t disappoint on any level! The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We all chose different menu items and the food was outstanding in each case with a lovely touch for the birthday girl for dessert! The view was beautifully picturesque and our table was perfectly positioned to enjoy it. Thank you Team Molines for a wonderful day!!
Once again, we had a lovely lunch at Bistro Molines. I don’t believe there is a prettier view of the Hunter Valley. The food, staff, wine and view are perfect! Thank you all for a fabulous afternoon 🍷🍷
What a wonderful experience it was to dine at Bistro Molines! The food was outstanding and the service was exceptional, not to mention the beautiful view over the valley. Can certainly recommend Bistro Molines for an unforgettable meal.
Our favourite place to dine at the Vineyards...the view is spectacular and the food is amazing!!
Brilliant- always is ... As a local we go here all the time , the cuisine by Robert is simply amazing traditional with an Aussie twist , pure art on a plate .. They are always busy and that says it all really .. Sally and her team are kind professional and caring and that's why we go back time after time .. It is an a stand alone institution in the hunter valley and a must go dine destination... 5 Stars
😘
Lovely start to our lunch, greeted by Sally and a champagne overlooking the stunning view down to the valley. Superb food and wines, absolutely delicious and hard to choose from an incredible menu. Fantastic service too. Thank you Sally and Robert for another wonderful lunch
Beautiful ambience, brilliant food, out of this world view, top notch chef and great staff. I’ll be back.
Celebrated my birthday here & what an oustanding food experience. BM has been on my restaurant bucket list for a long time and exceeded my expectations. Delicious food & wine and the service was impeccible - Monique our waitress wss so attentive & friendly. We will definitely be back soon. Thank you!
I was most impressed! A all round great experience. The food and service were impeccable and on point not to mention the stunning location. The wait staff were attentive and accommodating without being over bearing. All courses were brought out exactly at the right time, and our party of four were not left to wait for drink top ups or replenishment either. Even my mother commented as to how efficient and well run this restaurant was, considering there were only two wait staff and a restaurant full of people ordering multiple courses.
As for the food, it was well presented fresh, well portioned and tasteful as depicted by the photos. A classic French cuisine. So pleased I chose this restaurant to go to for my sister's 40th birthday.
Thankyou

Thanks for the meal!
Amazing food, service and environment. Love the views. Such a peaceful and relaxing experience. Definitely worth a visit when visiting Hunter's Valley!
This is one of my favourite places. I fall in love every time I visit. The food is amazing, the setting is beautiful, staff are friendly. Not one thing I could fault. Have a helicopter pad so you don’t even have to drive from Sydney
The view was amazing and the food was delicious. The staff squeezed us in for 30min even tho they were fully booked for lunch and dinner. We rushed the whole experience and crammed 3 entrees in 30mins!!! But it was totally worth it. We inhaled our entree and got out of their way. Loved it!! Next time we will book in advance
Great service and good food overall. Had the fillet mignon for my main and was overall satisfied. The duckling was also really good. Cute decor, shame we visited after the sunset so didn't get to enjoy the view. Would love to visit during day time next time. We had a 3 yr old with us as well and the waitress was really helpful and accommodating.
Service was excellent. This was my third time here and I recommend strongly recommend sitting outside if the weather permits.
The linguini was delicious. The pork chop was perfectly cooked. The sides of carrots and pear complemented the meal perfectly.
The lamb cutlets the chorizo and the beans were all a perfect harmony.
Then came along the highlight. The desserts was absolute heaven. The panna cotta was amazing. However the creamed rice pudding with muscat poached prunes and vanilla ice cream was my favorite.
Cant wait to go back.
The view was extraordinary for sure. We ordered almost every main on the menu; the food was full of surprises, in both good and bad ways.. but in general it was a very pleasant experience.
Amazing view with outstanding customer service. Their platter, bread and sticky date pudding were all outstanding. Would have gave 5/5 for these things alone. Unfortunately the mains were a miss for all of us as they were all slightly over cooked or the sauce was not punchy enough.
I loved every moment of my anniversary dinner from the time I walked in the front door! 23/9/2017 and I remember vividly just how beautiful the entire experience was for my husband and I. The consideration of having warm blankets around, the beautifully set out tables. The friendly and efficient staff, the food was absolutely amazing. The only fault of the night was that I didn't take pictures of the beautifully presented dishes. Definitely a place to visit again soon! Thank you for such a wonderful and memorable night to all staff and chefs 👍❤️
We went here for lunch for my wife's birthday and what a great experience we had. You MUST order the bread for an extra $1 per person. OMG. The best bread I've ever eaten. So light, fluffy, yet crunchy on the outside. Along with some olive oil and pinch of salt, just beautiful. The meals were fantastic. I ordered a the Barramundi and couldn't fault it. The service was great. All staff very friendly, attentive and prompt. This place is one of the best in the region. Put it on your list.

Bistro Molines sits atop Mount View with one of the most spectacular views of wine country. We were here as part of a large group with a set menu. Our lunch started with the most incredible entree of New season leek and gruyere tarte with baby leeks and basil hollandaise...it literally melted in your mouth! If I could have licked my plate I would have! The main was braised lamb shanks, lyonnaise with roasted chat potatoes and green beans. This was where they lost their half point unfortunately as I would have loved to have given them a 5 star rating. While cooked well it wasn't to my or most of our groups liking...it wasn't a bad dish though, just more a bad choice for this particular lunch. The desserts were complete show stoppers! The brûlée had a great crack to the toffee top but the Honeycomb parfait, peanut biscuit and salted caramel stole the show! This dessert was mouthwatering good. The staff were very attentive and did I mention that view!
We drove up to the Hunter Valley for a quick overnight stay with the family and booked ourselves into the one-hat Bistro Molines restaurant, which is located down a gravel road in the aptly named Mount View. The elevated position of the restaurant at the top of a hill over idyllic vineyards makes for a gorgeous setting at dusk – which was around the time we arrived for our dinner.
The peaceful vineyard view, exceptional food and service made our meal experience very delightful. There was hardly anything to fault about the food and I hope their mouth-watering bugs have a permanent place on their menu.
On our last day in Hunter Valley, my boyfriend and I wanted to have a nice Sunday lunch date. Even though the place was a bit of a drive from where we stayed, we decided to go ahead anyway and I’m glad we did. It was amazing (I believe it’s a family own restaurant). Having lunch overlooking the view of the hills and the vineyards was spectacular. We did not make booking but luckily, we got the last available table. We had an entrée and a main each, and we shared the dessert since we were very full from all the food.
Before we started our entrees, we were given corn and coriander soup to awaken our tastebuds.
For entrees, we had Pan Fried Potato Gnocchi with Pork Ragout and Amatriciana Sauce, and Mushroom Tarte with King Brown Mushrooms and Porcini Cream. The gnocchi was good but a little bit oily for my liking, however, the pork ragout and the sauce made it light and refreshing. The humble mushroom tarte stole the show for sure. It was definitely a celebration of mushrooms from the tarte itself to truffle essence. The porcini cream was so creamy, light and tasty. The asparagus gave the dish another texture and flavour (a break from mushrooms in between bites).
For mains, we had Squab with Tortellini, Mushrooms and Game Jus, and Veal wrapped in Prosciutto with Roasted Jerusalem Artichokes, Cavolo Nero and Champignon Sauce. We decided to go with the meat we don’t usually eat and we were not disappointed at all. Both the squab and the veal were perfectly cooked (still a little bit pink – just how we like it). The squab was definitely my favourite out of the two. The tortellini was packed with so many flavours and the meat melted in our mouths.
Before dessert, we were given friands as well. For dessert, we had doughnuts with Quince and Vanilla Ice-cream. It was amazing. The ice-cream was full of vanilla bean flavour. The dessert had different layers of complexity, and the nuts and the fruits added different textures to the dish.
The service was great and the staffs were so welcoming. I’m definitely coming back the next time I’m in the wine country.
$250 for 2 entrees, 2 mains, 1 dessert, 4 glasses of wine, 1 coffee and 1 tea

What an amazing place! From the view over rolling hills & vineyards, friendly, attentive service & beautiful, delicious food, its s little treasure in the Hunter Valley. Classic French dishes, fresh local ingredients, cooked to perfection. The mussels mariniere was one of the best I have had - juicy, plump mussles in a tasty broth full of chilli, zesty lemon, white wine, garlic & herbs. The linguine was creamy yet light, fresh & generous with diamond clams. Generosity of servings continue into the mains with half a twice roasted Hunter duckling. Tender, juicy, gamey & covered in a well balanced orange glaze that provides sweetness & acidity. The veal fillet wrapped in prosciutto is cooked perfectly & tender, with autumnal tumble of buttery mushrooms & jerusalem artichokes. The pomme frites are handcut chips that are golden, crunchy on the outside, buttery & creamy on the inside & well seasoned. Desserts are a must as they are beautiful to the eyes & taste buds. Vanilla pannacotta is perfectly wobbly, full of vanilla beans with crunchy meringue kisses. The steamed orange pudding moist, fragrant & a touch of exotic from cardamom ice cream. If you have room, go for a coffee which comes with daily house made petit fours like mini lemon meringue tarts. Perfect ending to your meal with that short, buttery pastry, sticky soft meringue & tangy curd. Bon appetit!
Bistro Molines was a recommendation from one of the local wine makers who urged us to take the time to drive up the hill in Mount View to dine at Chef Molines' restaurant. Open since 2008, He has a reputable past in the Hunter Valley harking back to 1973! Since I am an avid foodie, how could I say no? So I booked for four people so we could sample lots of dishes and enjoy the amazing lookout from the restaurant. This was one meal, that definitely did not disappoint... (Note: The photos added here are from December 2015. More photos are available on the blog).
Agree with the recommendations that this is one of the best spots in the Hunter valley for a fine dining French style lunch with a view. Wonderful friendly service and delicious food which came in very satisfactory portions. We shared the charcuterie platter to start and found the prosciutto wrapped melon the highlight. The pate and other sliced meats were quite rich, so the accompanying colourful pickles helped cut through the heaviness. For mains the filet mignon was superb, it was a bit over the medium rare line but was saved by the juiciness of the meat. The twice cooked Hunter duckling had lots of sweetness from the orange sauce and a lovely crispy skin but the meat I felt was a tad dry in some parts. Pomme frittes was absolute hot chip perfection. The lunch service was nice and leisurely (close to two hours) but it allowed us plenty of time to enjoy the views. One of the most special meals I've had to date.
A taste of France in the Hunter!!! Beautiful setting perched on the hillside with stunning views and a menu of classical French treats to match!!! Great staff, amazing experience... A must do in the Hunter!!!
Excellent ! The location, the staff, the menu, the ambience - just loved it ! Highly recommend this Bistro for any occasion. Remember to book in advance due to high popularity !
Beautiful setting, scenery, food, generous servings all 6 of us loved our food. Friendly service owner is hands on you feel like you have visited a little piece of the French countryside
Beautiful setting, exquisite meals and great service. If you only have 1 night in the Hunter, then look no further. Fine French dining at its best- oh la la!
My partner and I have dined here twice and enjoyed it both times. The first was at night and after reading all the comments about the lovely view, we wanted to see it in daylight. The second time, we came for lunch to celebrate my birthday. The food was amazing and the service excellent. We sat outside and I was unprepared for the breezy cold so Sally offered me a pashmina straight from Turkey. We couldn't decide on a dessert to share and were pleasantly surprised when a complimentary second dessert came out. If you go, save room for dessert, the waffles are hands down the best dessert I've had in recent memory.
Very impressed. We ate here on Saturday night. We had high expectations and they didn't disappoint. The staff were very attentive and accommodating of all requests.
We all ordered something different so we could taste as much from the menu as possible. At the end of the meal we couldn't decided who had ordered the best and what one we would eat again next time, they were all exceptional.
I think it is exceptional value for money considering the portions and quality served.
I would love to go back for lunch next time to take in the stunning view, can't wait to return
A maizing!. It was truly like the movie "my best friends wedding" because it really was! We stayed the night before in the cottage on site and enjoyed the most amazing wedding day in the resturant!
No need for decorating yourself! Sally put so so much live into making the resturant look delightful! The food was the talk of the day..... From freshly shucked oysters to scallops and gnocchi! Kangaroo, rib eye roast, and canapés to die for!
The view is another story! Wow!
I am a but of a home cook and I up must admit meeting Robert moline himself was for me like meeting the queen!
I would highly recommend visiting this resturant for any occasion! But weddings they also amaze!!!!
Well done!
De-vine. Service: friendly, helpfull but not in your face. Nothing was too much trouble.
Food: the Fillet Mignon, gratin dauphinois, Red Wine Jus, with Bearnaise was 'outstanding' & certainly the standout dish for the night. All of the sides, great. The special dessert of baclava cigar was tasty but a little crumbly & dry for my liking.
The waiter recomended a Pinot Noir from the region which although pricey at $125, was gorgeous.
Atmosphere: a liitle bit French, a little bit quirky country Australian. In a word, homely. It could have done with an openfire place to make the atmosphere even more perfect.
I prefered this restaurant over the hat awarded Muse in Pokolbin a 20 min drive away. Next time we will try lunch so we can check out the view.
Though the service was a bit slow, I won't complain too much as the view was to die for and the food was AMAZING. We started off with a bottle of Tyrell's Semillon (one of the white wine varieties the Hunter Valley is known for). Our server also brought over some ridiculously tasty fried Gruyer cheese puffs courtesy of the kitchen. My mouth is w
Picture speaks a thousand words, and you wonder where this wine region got its name from. Mount View is only 20 minutes south of Pokolbin, it is a wine region in Hunter Valley that is less frequented by visitors, including myself. This is actually my first visit to Mount View and I think I have fallen in love with Hunter Valley all over again. Seriously, with a view like this, I don't think I need to put much effort to convince you to come and discover Hunter Valley yourself. Follow the windy road up the hill and down the gravel tracks, you'll find boutique cellar doors and award winning restaurants are dotted along the beautiful Brokenback Range.
Amazing view, with Amazing scenery & Amazing Food! This French themed restaurant will make you feel that you are in the French countryside! Food was amazing and Staff went out of their way to accommodate us and were extremely friendly. All in all one of the best places to stop off for lunch or dinner if visiting the Hunter Valley!

Great place!! Service was perfect, the food was really good authentic French cuisine, the lamb brains is a must try!, reminded me of my mum’s one when i was a kid. The duck was great, the fish cooked to perfection, the portion are very generous, definitely worth the price, will go back there next time we are in the Hunter :)
Wow, wow and wow.
Absolutely stunning location and amazing food. Excellent service.
A unique menu you won't find anywhere else.
Very good value and high quality country style French cooking. Beware the size of the charcuterie plate - amazing but huge. The Pippi linguine was exceptional as was the lamb breast
WOW! Such a breath taking restaurant, didn't even feel like we were in Australia anymore. Came here for a friends bday and I decided to order some of the items from the special menu. I had the mushroom and spinach lasagna which was to DIE for and the beef cheek which was so tender. My fiancé had the sirloin and we shared the tiramisu for dessert. Only negative was it was a bit too pricey for such a small entree, main and dessert but the view and service and overall vibe of the restaurant made you forget about the money.
Was a beautiful lunch! the food was amazing. Super fulling and delicious. it was our anniversary so they gave us the best seats and a free mini cheesecake dessert! so lovely.
I would highly recommend for a special occasion
A definite favourite of ours - Bistro Molines ticks alot of boxes. They have decent service, they have some outstanding food and plenty of variety as well. Their menu has changed few times, including seasonal additions, but there always seems to be a good coverage for all tastes. They have a great wine list, reasonably priced given the style of restaurant. And they have a damn decent view for the most part, so that's great for the lunch or long day dinners.
Good food, Okay service, Fabulous location and decor. We didn’t have a booking and yet we were seated after few minutes.
Definitely worth visiting again
