Review Stanley Cafe - Mount Waverley

Cameron Moon
This place was great, friendly staff, food that tasted like it was made to order (because it is) and a good atmosphere. Ordered a variety of food for brunch and while it took a little bit of time for the food to arrive the drinks came out quickly. I have no complaints with the food that I ordered either, just on the whole a good experience.

it’s nice to sit outside on a warm day! the food is all presented very beautifully and good to take pictures of but i feel like they are lacking something flavour wise (maybe the fig salad would be good with some vinaigrette or prosciutto? just a thought :) ) it’s a bit on the pricy side (regular latte was $5.50 and mango smoothie almost $14)

Nice hidden cafe in the suburbs. I just had coffee only and it was well made and the waiter was friendly. Would like to come back and try the food next time!

Absolutely loved it! Stanley is a fantastic cafe in the whole of Melbourne. They make amazing food and the best coffee ever. The staff are amazing, super friendly & the best. I would highly recommend this cafe

I've lived in Mount Waverley for the past 3 years, and I can't believe I only learnt about Stanley now! Gosh. It's a nice corner cafe, comfortable, clean, friendly and attentive staff, and most importantly yummy coffee and food. I ordered the Chilli Scrambled Eggs, and it was one of the yummier version I've had. Definitely recommend this place.

A nice hidden secret in the suburbs. Lovely coffee and a beautiful place to have brunch or lunch. Relaxed environment and a great chilled vibe. Plenty of parking around and an outdoor sitting space for those wanting some fresh air out the back. A special shout out to Jono who served us, you made us feel super welcome and your service was exceptional. Thank you! Highly recommend and would definitely come back again for seconds.

Nice and clean space. In my opinion the menu is somewhat limited. The food was delicious. Quality produce is reflected in the price. Staff were very good.

Ordered Prawn & Kimchi Omelette which Came with lots of beansprouts and asian salad which was bit too much for my liking. It was overall decent but taking the price into consideration, I’m really not sure if it’s worth it 🤔 however ive dine here so many times and change their menu since ive been here and its still one of the great cafe in melbourne

Stanley is always a good local brunch cafe of mine, and very busy in a good way. Their staff are nice and inviting, we were told we needed to wait 10-15 mins on a weekday during lunch but they offered for us to sit outside, which I liked. <br/><br/>This was before lockdown 2.0, but they had really good service throughout. <br/><br/>I enjoyed the waffles, but honestly expected more... such a small serving for almost $20. <br/><br/>The 'banh mi' was also kind of disappointing, the portion was very small and it just looked like it wasn't worth the ~$19 pricetag, finished in ~4 bites. <br/><br/>

Rate: 3.5<br/><br/>I enjoyed the nutella waffle which was presented beautifully with flavors that tasted fantastic together. However, the smashed avo and heirloom carrot dishes looked very plain and had very little on the plate so I think some of the items are quite overpriced for what you get.

What a hidden Gem in Mount Waverley. Stanley serves delicious brunch with our favourite being the nutella hone kong waffles! The fluffy waffles topped with fruit and nutella is a must try!. We also loved the Heirloom carrots which was a unique dish to the brunch world. <br/><br/>Cant wait to check out more at this cute cafe!

Food was great! Staff were friendly. Just a bit disappointed by the coffee, maybe because it was busy so the coffee was rushed

One of my favourite cafes! I’ve been coming here since it opened. I’ve tried different things on the menu and liked everything (Heirloom carrots are my favourite if I had to decide). Coffee is always great too! I’ve only got one suggestion to make; It’d be great if there were some special seasonal dishes - the menu is great but as a regular it might get a bit boring after a while.

Unfortunately, Stanley is the (dis)honourable recipient of my first one star review. Unsure where to begin but perhaps it was the confused, annoyed and borderline rude treatment by the service staff, the wait in getting our menus, the loudness of the overhead music in combination with the screaming baby next to our table, the actual water glasses being dirty (?? why) or the lack of cutlery until after we got our food... Seemingly very simple baseline service standards that Stanley has somehow disregarded. The food was also left on the counter for some time before being served. Similar treatment with our coffees - left on the side until the barista finished texting and decided it was time to bring it over. I ordered an ice chocolate with ice cream, however the ice cream had almost entirely melted when it was placed in front of me.<br/><br/>The food was well cooked, however disproportionate to nearby cafes’ price and portion size. Food maybe better if it were served at its proper temperature...alas, we will never know. <br/><br/>My friends had previously warned me about the lack of quality at Stanley but I was fooled by its 4.0+ Zomato rating - hope others take heed and avoid this cafe and its astoundingly poor service until an overhaul in staff attitude at the very least!
Big Fat Layer
Tiny portion, undercooked eggs, stingy hollandaise (extra cost if you want more). Flat, weak cold brew, no aroma. Unhappy wait staff. Beef burger was the only saving grace.

Quietly located in the suburban streets of Mount Waverley, Stanley is one of the popular cafes from the brains behind Bentwood, Winter, MOB and Clubhouse. <br/><br/>We arrived on a weekday for brunch and were immediately welcomed by the staff. As it was a nice day, we opted to sit in the courtyard <br/><br/>The Chilli Scrambled Eggs have to be some of the best chilli scrambles I’ve tried to date. The texture of the eggs were so silky and creamy. I loved the addition of coriander, fried shallots and Vietnamese mint which added a nice Asian twist. Plenty of Parmesan to top it off (no one’s complaining there!) and bacon too.<br/><br/>The Breakfast Bowl is also probably the best “salad-style” brunch dish I’ve ever tried. I don’t normally order salads, but I would gladly have this any day. The flavours were just so complex and delicious - I loved the smoked yoghurt which also added a nice tartness. There was so much variety in this bowl, every bite was an explosion of flavours and textures. This is a must-try!<br/><br/>The Four Grain Porridge was so warming and perfect for cold days (or hot too!). It was creamy and thick, but still light and refreshing at the same time. I loved the burnt honey labneh and crunchy almond praline, and the soured cherry was the perfect touch!<br/><br/>Of course, we also had to try their famous Nutella Hong Kong Waffles, and they did not disappoint. The perfect combination of crispy, creamy, sweet and tart. The mascarpone and Nutella filling is sweet and decadent, but it’s cut through with the freshness of the berries and raspberry purée, and the airy bubble waffle. <br/><br/>Overall, I really enjoyed my brunch at Stanley and it’s definitely a cafe I’ll be going back to!

Cozy cafe located in Mount waverly, same owner as bentwood Fitzroy and the food does live up to the standard. We ordered acai, salmon bowl and beef brisket benny. My favorite was the acai bowl!!! It was very well made with good mix of flavours. Beef brisket was delicious and salmon bowl was very refreshing. We will definitely come back to try the rest of the menu
Good Food Good Mood
We were invited to Stanley today and just over a year from our initial visit the menu is unchanged. This provided the opportunity to try some of the other dishes. I went for the smashed avocado and also the açai bowl. I didn’t really read the menu properly as this was a smashed avocado and edamame. I’m not a huge fan of edamame but this didn’t change the flavour of the dish (only the texture) I suppose its a good way to get in more nutrients! I also added roast tomato as a side which added even more flavour. <br/><br/>The açai bowl was made with mango juice and as such was sweeter than what I’m used to with this dish but the peanut butter balanced this prettily presented dish and I’m a sucker for anything that comes in a coconut bowl. My dining companion thoroughly enjoyed his beef brisket benny, so much so that I’ll have to try it next time. <br/><br/>Original review <br/>We chose Stanley today for breakfast to catch up with some friends who live nearby. I was shocked to have been robbed twice, once by the ‘weekend surcharge’- is that really a thing? I’ve only ever come across this once before and was as astounded by it then as I am now. Pretty sure given the plethora of cafes this restaurant group own they are well able to cover whatever additional wages weekend trading is costing them just like every other venue does.<br/><br/>The second incident was when I paid the 10% inflated bill and gave $122 for the $111 meal. I was given $1 back and instantaneously said ‘the change was $11’ to which the staff member replied I gave you $11. I offered her to inspect the contents of my bag and wallet to prove she had in fact only given me $1. Not really impressed<br/><br/>On to the food. I had a chai latte to start which was ok. I prefer it on the sweeter side which is why I favour the ones that come with the honey on the side not already in the glass. For my meal I choose the Nutella waffles. Texturally I found the waffle a bit hard and the dish overly sweet but it certainly was pretty on the plate. <br/><br/>The vanilla mascarpone did help to balance it somewhat but the brûlée banana was just compounding the sweetness. If there was a raspberry purée on the plate rather than a decorative smear this may have provided a bit of tartness to aid in a more balanced dish. Overall I found the experience disappointing

Visited for a Saturday lunch and seating wasn’t actually hard to find. We ordered two beef brisket bennys, the Nutella Hong Kong waffles and a detox salad with chicken added. Service was extremely friendly, they got us the essentials and promptly helped us move tables when we changed our minds.<br/><br/>Food - I only had the salad, but it was hearty and had plenty of flavour! Probably the best brunch style salad I’ve had - good amount of crunch from pomegranate seeds. There could have been a bit more quinoa and less of the walnut to offer more volume when paired with the chicken. Otherwise, perfect blend of creamy and fresh flavours.

Tried this cafe for the first time! I love the sriracha salmon flora bowl! Great staff - good food - awesome vibes! Will definitely go back and recommend this one!

Good coffee! Matcha latte was a little weak, would have preferred stronger matcha taste. The chilli scrambled eggs were really creamy and nice. Pulled beef benedict was okay, but the mushrooms were so juicy! Wait staff attentive and friendly.
Fiona Ku
Had the beef brisket benny which was really good. The eggs were poached perfectly and beef was tender and delicious. The cheddar waffle was such an interesting twist and really completed the meal. Hollandaise was nice but I couldn't taste any jalapeno in it. Overall, a really good however, I would like to see more variety on the menu as it was a bit limited.

Nice coffee and very reasonable price! 👍

Small cafe in the neighborhood area so parking is easy. It's a bit cramped inside and the tables are small. Not a recommended place if you go with a large group, space is too limited. Good presentation and food is great. The hotcake looks really good btw.

I've been to Stanley twice, and it made be remember why I had decided the first time not to come again. Everything is overpriced for a suburban cafe in a nondescript location. <br/>The second time there were 4 of us and we all had something different to eat and drink for lunch. The food and coffee was okay but that's it. It was just okay. Not worth another visit. But if you're under 35 and impressed with average food and drinks in a nondescript location of Mt Waverley then this cafe is for you.

#BMAfavourites || Not a lot of cafes make it to my favourites list, but I absolutely love @stanleymountwaverley in the south east! They serve up consistently delicious breakfast items but I always go back to the Breakfast Bowl. It looks unassuming but don’t let that fool you - it’s jam packed full of flavour! I don’t know what they put through the salad but it is mouth wateringly good. It’s a must order from me guys

I would rate this 3.5 stars. I love the way that some neighborhood areas are being reinvented with places like Stanley. Coffee was great with a fantastic hit of caramel on the first sip. We had the heirloom carrots which came with sweet potato crisp, broccolini, cauliflower toast with a beetroot spread and pistachio crumb. We also had the hot cakes with a mascopone cheese, meringue with dark chocolate. Glad we ordered the bacon which then balanced the sweetness. Overall, very enjoyable.

Amazing bustling cafe out on the east side of Melbourne. We were invited for lunch and we loved it. We ordered the acai bowl, mango chicken salad and the Nutella HK waffles.<br/>The acai bowl was a good consistency and the topping was quite generous. Loved that bee pollen comes standard with the bowl. The poached chicken was moist and tender. When combined with sweet mango and the lime and coconut dressing it's like party in your mouth. The crunch from the red capsicum and black sesame adds a nice crunch texture to the dish. Finally the Hong Kong Waffles, this was so bloody good. You rip off these small ball shaped waffle pieces that are filled with nutella. The banana brulee was nicely toasted and vanilla mascarpone helps complete the overall dish.<br/>Overall we loved this place and would highly recommend it if you're out that way.

Came here for lunch as recommended by friends. We ordered the salmon flora bowl and it was tasty. I quite liked the spicy taste and the pineapple helped to tone it down. The hollandaise sauce was quite good and the coffee was also good as expected.

$20 for chicken and cole slaw... Everything on the menu is extremely overpriced. The food is bland and mainly caters for social media foodies because of its presentation. The hong kong waffles tasted like nutella and nothing else. The schnitzel tasted like disappointment.

I’ve heard so many good things about this cafe. Nestled in Mount Waverley, this cute cafe is super local. Service was lovely, presentation of food was great, I had the salmon bowl, salmon was over cooked, rice was stodgy overall.

I love how this cafe was located right in the center of a residential area. It gives it much more of a homey feeling. <br/><br/>I ordered the Beef Brisket Benny which was so good! It was different from other ones I’ve had before since they used a waffle instead of a slice of toast underneath. I liked that because it gave a different taste and texture to the dish. The poached eggs were beautifully done, the moment I sliced into the egg, the yolk just flowed out smoothly. <br/><br/>My friend ordered the breakfast bowl with bacon, which smelled so good when it came to our table!<br/><br/>The mango smoothie was also very smooth and tasted really fresh!<br/><br/>Staff was very welcoming and there were always smiles on their faces. Would definitely come again!

Overall experience is average.<br/><br/>Recommend for milk coffee but not recommend for cold brew and long black due to the quality of its coffee bean.<br/><br/>Food is general price of $$ and taste is average where there no stunning element.

Really quaint cafe in the Mt Waverley area with plenty of outdoor seating options. Personally, I found that there were very few options on the menu be it sweet or savoury compared to your usual brunch cafes. We ordered the egg benny & chilli scrambled eggs which were $19 each. For this price, the portion did not match up to my expectations. I would expect a bigger pile of scrambled eggs on the sourdough toast or just more substance to the foundation of the benny. It was not a satisfying meal but flavours were not horrible and still passable. I just wished there was more flavour for the beef which tasted rather bland. The scrambled eggs were not as spicy as I'd like as well. Perhaps it was just a bad day in the kitchen. If you are in the area there's no harm trying it but I wouldn't intentionally drive there to get a brunch fix.

The food was good however I could hardly have any apart from a taste. We were there early on a Saturday morning and booked a table the day before but ended up sitting next to the toilet. The waitresses all seemed too busy to remove coffee cups and plates even when we tried to wave. Overall the experience was very disappointing.

Ive been to Stanley several times now and still love the food here! They have new dishes there and then and can get super busy.<br/><br/>Highlights: my favourite is the Nutella Hong Kong Waffles and Eggs Benedict served on a waffle and hands down is the best. The healthy options are also amazing like the halloumi breaky bowl and smashed avocado on toast. I recently had their chilli scrambled eggs and it was the bomb!<br/>Their coffee is outstanding (I usually order the almond latte) and you have to try their smoothie range! I’ve had every flavour and my favourite is the Peanut Butter and Mango. <br/><br/>Lowlights: can get super busy and theres no booking. My friend had the burger and said it wasn’t anything special but still okay.<br/><br/>Overall I’d definitely recommend this cafe! <br/><br/>

One of my favourite cafes in Melbourne & ideally located walking distance from my house. This gorgeous cafe has seating both inside and out, wonderful interiors with amazing lighting. One of my favourite brunch catch ups I’ve tried a few things on the menu and highly recommend ; the açai bowl, smashed avo, salmon sriracha flora bowl, Nutella waffles & pancakes! I love to match my meals with a chai latte, matcha latte or tropical smoothie! Honestly a great cafe with loads of options for all dietary requirements & needs! Always a pleasure, can’t wait to visit again!

Popular cafe that gets busy with good reason. We got the spiced chicken schnitzel which came with salad of a coconut flavour which was tasty. We also got the salmon flora bowl which came with edamame and a decent serve.
Bun's Food Diaries
I sure will be back to try other items on their menu! I had the acai smoothie bowl, it had just the right degree of sweetness and the crunch of granola was so good. Instragram-worthy presentation and ingredients were put together well. The smoked beef brisket was delicious and waffle so crunchy, what's not to love? I tried the turmeric coconut latte, just felt the turmeric was a little overpowering and i wasn't a fan of the grainy texture, would have liked to get stronger hints of coconut too. The whole time we were there we could smell the nutella off the nutella Hong Kong waffles, too bad we were full at the end so will get it next time!
Justin
Friendly staff with fast service. Food came out just as expected and the poke bowl was served in a coconut shell! Coffee was well done, would happily return to try out more of the menu!

The four grain porridge with banana and sour cherries was amazing. It appeared to be a healthy choice but was also delicious. Great coffee and the service at Stanley was also great.

Lovely brunch @Stanley in Mount Waverley! The açai bowl was a perfect amount of sweet and the peanut butter drizzle added combined with the fresh fruits was an amazing combination! <br/><br/>The beef benny and carrot dish were both filling and delicious! The staff were very inviting and the simple interior gave a cosy atmosphere! The outdoor area was heated and enjoyable even in the cold Melbourne winter ..! 😋😇 <br/><br/>Would definitely recommend anyone in the area to give the cafe a little visit. <br/><br/>

Great cafe for brunch place. Very cosy and bright. The service was a little slow but that may be due to a trainee waiter. The food was great however.<br/>I had the beef brisket Benny while a friend had a smashed avocado.. both were excellent. The coffee was good in strength and forth.<br/>Definitely recommend this place. Though be warm that parking is a little tight around the cafe as well.

A busy little joint in Mt Waverley and I can see why! It’s got friendly staff, good coffee and yummy food. Would definitely come<br/>And try more food out
Gloria
Very chic little neighbourhood cafe.with indoor and heated outdoor dining area. Hard floors can get a little difficult to converse during busy time. Outdoor is lovely. More greenery would help with the acoustics.<br/>Food was very nice, beautifully presented. The range and choices were amazing...with lots of options for everyone with gluten intolerance, vegetarian, etc.<br/>a little pricey but overall very satisfied and their portions were sufficient.

Stanley is my weekend go to coffee and/or breakfast place! The service is always friendly and efficient, rarely having to wait too long for a coffee. The coconut and lime panna cotta is amazing if I’m feeling something light and fresh. It never disappoints. The blossom hot cakes are for when I’m feeling a bit indulgent, that vanilla mascarpone 😍
MILTON
Really liked the coffee and food here.<br/>Came here on a Monday lunch time.<br/>Hong Kong Nutella waffles was perfect!<br/>Egg Benedict’s was simple but executed perfectly.<br/>Good coffee and great service.<br/>Can’t fault this place besides the non runny egg but not an issue.<br/>Willing to come back and try the scrambled eggs, salmon and other dishes.

This Nutella waffle is surprisingly good and not too sweet. That’s what I love. Love the mixture with fruits and combinations work really well. The hot chocolate is amazingly good.

4.5*<br/><br/>Stanley is an absolute hidden gem! <br/><br/>We came here on a quiet Monday and we were seated straight away. The cafe had that minimalist look. <br/><br/>I ordered the hot chocolate and my partner ordered the latte. I really enjoyed the hot chocolate, it was nice and sweet and just right for my liking! <br/><br/>The menu had tons of dishes that caught my partner’s attention and he said that he’s keen to come back to try some more. <br/><br/>Anyways, we ordered the beef brisket Benny and the Hong Kong Nutella Waffles.<br/><br/>The food came out super quick and first thought was WOW the plating of the waffles was absolutely beautiful! So vibrant and looked soooooo bloody good. We first tried the beef brisket benny. I really liked the fact that they used a waffle instead of sour dough bread. The dish was packed with flavour and definitely not sickening to eat. It was seasoned well. The beef was perfect. The only let down was the egg wasn’t as runny as we would like. Besides that, everything was yum! <br/><br/>Next was the waffles! This is a MUST when you come here. We adored this dish. It’s so good!! The waffles were crispy and everything worked so well together. It wasn’t too sweet and every bite I wanted more! One of my favourite sweet dishes at a brunch place to be honest! I liked how they used vanilla mascarpone instead of icecream. It gave it the extra creaminess and sweetness, nothing too overpowering. I also like the freshness of the fruit and the tartiness of the raspberry purée which worked perfectly with the generous amount of Nutella that was spread inside the waffle. A very memorable dish! I’m literally craving it whilst writing this review! <br/><br/>Overall, delicious brunch place. This would have been a 5 if the eggs were cooked perfectly. The dishes were a little on the pricey side but tbh, I would definitely come back to try out their other dishes. :)

Hot cake is nice however there should be a remark or reminder that the 10% weekend surcharge applies. So does the credit card surcharge. Waiting time is a little bit longer.

I am a regular customer at Stanley and had a very disappointing experience today. We booked a table and had our order taken by a very unfriendly waitress. 45 minutes later we had not received our coffee let alone our food. The waitress came back to “check” our order and asked if we had ordered anything else aside from eggs and chilli scramble which we had to tell her that she wrote the other half of our table order on the back of her notepad... she then put our order through which she had clearly forgotten to do in the first place. After an hour and 15 minutes we finally got our food and drinks and the servings sizes were so much smaller than usual. 1 piece of toast and a handful size of chilli scrambled eggs as well as 5 mushrooms for $5 is ridiculous. There were no apologies and when we went to pay our $155 bill we weren’t even asked how our meal or experience was. I am so disappointed with this cafe especially since their service and food is usually excellent.
Georgia
Sunday morning = very busy! We were asked to wait 15-20 minutes for a table to become free. This turned into over an hours wait with no communication from staff. We were about to leave, when our name was called to indicate a free table. Waited another 15-20 for our order to be taken. Food came out quicker than expected as it was busy. HK waffles were nice. Simple eggs on toast $10.50 and then extra for ANY additions. <br/>10% surcharge on all bills on weekends seems ridiculous, especially when there was an obvious need for more staff.
Mitty
every dish was small<br/>honestly not worth the price <br/>avocado smash was the worst and even no eggs with the price $18 ;(<br/>not much flavor but only the sourness
JeannetN
Entering the cafe, it was already extremely busy on a Saturday morning, even still, all the cafe staff we encountered were friendly, obliging and kind. The cafe was modern and clean, the outdoor area still warm on a winter morning with the two outdoor heaters. The menu didn't sound so interesting but we were not disappointed. The food was beautifully presented, well cooked and absolutely delicious. My soy latte was probably the best I've had all year. Smooth and silky, mild roast with a sufficient caffeine kick. It was so good we ordered another set for takeaway. We will be back to try out the other things on the menu
Rachel Liang
We had order our food about 1200, waited good half hour, no food bring out to our table. Then we went in to check, the staff forgotten to place our food order. Very disappointed about the service<br/>

Love Stanley!! Such an aesthetically pleasing venue, with great service. <br/><br/>We tried the Oat Mylk flat white and the chocolate smoothie. Both delicious. <br/><br/>Our favourite dish was the Heirloom Carrots. The flavours and presentation were incredible! <br/>We also tried the Detox salad which was nourishing, filling and tasty! <br/><br/>Would definitely come back here for a coffee or brunch date soon!

The Hong Kong Waffles are a must! Best I've had outside of Asia! Crispy and soft at the same time, the dish wasn't too sweet despite having Nutella in it! Perfect!

🌟🌟 4.5 Stars 🌟 🌟<br/><br/>When you come to a cafe at 10:30am on a Monday, you know it must be decent! <br/><br/>With a bright and spacious space and people smiling and enjoying themselves, this cafe, straight away, sets you up for a good time.<br/><br/>I ordered the heirloom carrots, a healthy option as I often do, and loved every bite! Perfectly tender carrots, great flavours of spiced cauliflower, beetroot hummus and pistachio, this dish has all the levels of taste.<br/><br/>Would happily recommend this cafe to any fellow foodie or cafe goer.<br/><br/>Thanks for breakfast :)

⭐ TOP DISH ALERT! ⭐<br/>🍫 Nutella Hong Kong Waffles - $20<br/>🥩 Beef Brisket Benny w/ Shrooms - $22<br/>.<br/>From the moment i saw these waffles, i knew i needed them in my life 😲 been a long time coming but i finally got around to them with @bite_me_melbourne! 🙌🏽 Stanley is now easily up there in one of my favourite all time cafe's! ☝🏽 why did it take me so long to realise it was only a 5 minute drive from my house? 🧐 no one will ever know.. but if there's any consolation i would be a lot heavier by now thats for sure 😂 lets get to the dishes! 😎<br/><br/>☑ 10/10! ⭐ WOW.. that is ALL 👏🏽<br/><br/>🔥 HIT - its kinda hard to list the hits when they are practically everything about the dish 😍 first of all, this dish isn't just for SHOW! Its LEGIT! 👌🏽 it doesnt just look amazing, it tastes brilliant! ☝🏽 the flavour combos in there are perfectly balanced and every component of the dish works together to compliment eachother! 🙏🏽 from the crunchy texture of the crumbed pistachio to the smooth creamy flavour added by the vanilla marscapone 🤤 all i can say is that it is a MUST HAVE! ⭐ the serving size is fantastic too! Im all about those big portions! ⬆️ you're practically getting a generous plate of QUALITY food 😉 im not gonna complain.. you might have to keep me away from ordering them out of stock though 😏 lol lastly, i don't mind paying $20.0 for a dish as good as this 🤔 portion ✔ taste ✔ quality ✔ I'm SOLD! 😎<br/><br/>💨 MISS - the only real miss for me was the size of the beef brisket benny, a little small for the price at $22.0 in my opinion 🧐 For Value for Money, there needs to be a little more on there 🤔 No miss for the waffles though 🤤<br/>

Popular brunch place - came here about lunchtime on a Sunday, 5 minutes to get seated and another 5 minutes to get changed to a proper table, waited 30-40 minutes to get our food after we ordered (and they didn't come together). Good vibe. Food was a bit overrated. We had beef burger (5'), waffle (3'), breakfast bowls (3.5') and scrambled eggs (3'), what's in brackets are our ratings to the food. Service was ok. There are on-street parking so parking is not a problem.
EatsOfMelbourneAus
Local brunches are the best type of brunches. Thanks Stanley Mount Waverley for leaving me so full and satisfied. I loved your smashed avocado 🥑 😆
@foodtom
Stanley is always fantastic, the very fact that they are so consistent on the quality makes me speak so highly of this place. Definitely recommend the waffles for every dessert lover.

Hotcakes here are definitely a must try! The pancake itself was nice and fluffy, and complemented the sweetness of the vanilla mascarpone really well. Presentation was also extremely well done, and ambience/atmosphere of this cafe was nice and relaxed too<br/><br/>

First time coming here, they mistakenly gave my coffee to another table, and only got another one after asking again. Also messed up my food order. Not the best experience coming here, hope they can learn from their mistake. Won’t be coming back anytime soon.
Force Pulse
Unfortunately we received poor service from a waitress when we were going to settle the bill. She keyed in the total figure into the efpos machine and it showed on screen that "Surcharged may apply". So obviously I will query which cards will have the surcharge, the waitress did not know and didn't do anything to find out. She appeared agitated when I pressed her further. I decided to use my debit card as it would be less likely to incur a surcharge, after the transaction went through she made a snarky comment "Oh look, you saved a $1". Great service Stanley, you really should fire that waitress. Your food was decent but left a very sour after taste which is unlikely to be forgotten.

Back street bliss! Gorgeous, bright & cheerful cafe on corner of through road and the local area is definitely better off for it. Very friendly and personable service and food and drinks on point! <br/>The place is letdown by the weekend surcharge, this really turns me off from coming on the weekend as most cafes do not charge this. <br/>
Melanie (ForeverBrunching)
Lovely brunch here at Stanley!<br/><br/>The interior is very pleasant, full of wooden decor & windows.<br/><br/>The food was tasty I enjoyed the flavours but I believe the serving sizes were quite small for the price (specially the açai bowl I ordered). The açai bowl was looked beautiful & it was tasty, but the small bowl was over half granola & I wish there was more açai smoothie in it. The beef burger was tasty but nothing super special.<br/><br/>The staff were very friendly & the food came out in good time.
Dine And Dash
Stanley is an eating establishment hidden away in the suburban streets of Mount Waverley. What once, was a milk bar, is now a buzzing and popular new café. Walking in, the place was super bright and inviting. The venue seats around 60 people and is usually quite full on the weekend.<br/><br/>We ordered the Nutella Hong Kong Waffles, Beef Burger and the Detox Salad. For drinks, we had an Orange Juice and a Nutella Milkshake. The burger was extremely tasty, the beef was cooked to perfection and it was an all-round delicious burger. The chips were crunchy and hot. The Detox Salad was delightful! The red cabbage, sweet corn and the beetroot hummus especially gave the salad that extra kick and it quite a generous serving too. <br/><br/>The favourite dish of the day was definitely the Nutella Waffles. WOW. The dish was basically a waffle sandwich with Nutella oozing out of it. It was decorated with strawberries, bananas and pistachios. The dish was a 10/10. Incredible!<br/><br/>Couldn’t complain about the drinks, they accompanied our meals very well and the customer service was also great. I can see why this place is so popular especially in the neighbourhood and I am very eager to return here soon.

The design of the cafe exterior AND interior was so visually pleasing everywhere was picture worthy!! Ordered the Nutella Hong Kong Waffles and Nutella Milkshake which took about 20 minutes to come so was a bit iffy. Milkshake wasn’t as good as i expected it to be because it wasn’t sweet enough for my liking but all good. Waffles were DELICIOUS, the egg waffles were a bit hard but the presentation was on point 🤩 Overall an amazing place to come catch up and talk about anything with friends, would come back here again :)

Foods nice, slightly smaller food portion than desired but not bad food at all - to be expected as the owners run a chain of these throughout Melbourne. But the service and attention of the staff on the floor critically needs work. 10% surcharge on Weekends should not be existent especially when we had to ask more than four different ‘waiters’ to take our order. 4 times across 35 minutes? ‘I’ll grab someone’ ‘I’m not actually a waiter’ ‘I’ll be right with you’ (Walked past our table countless times) Ok then? Then the first waiter who walked past 10+ times ended up taking our order?! Do not recommend Stanley as the staff were completely disinterested during our visit (group of four of us), even through to paying for the bill when the place is dead quiet ‘We don’t split bills on weekends’ Disappointing as I had massive expectations for this place

I never realised how close I was to Stanley until I finally made it down there for the first time! <br/><br/>We sat in the outdoor area and loved our meal there , they ran out of coconut water so I just opted for water but my friend loved the coffee there <br/><br/>The dishes we shared were the Benedict add a hash brown, the lime and coconut pana cotta and the mango chicken salad <br/><br/>The favourite by far was the Benedict which they have across all the cafes in their chain, the hollandisw with the tender meat and spinach is always a winner for me ! <br/><br/>The mango chicken salad was nice and refreshing , there was nice coconut flavours in this dish and loved the combo of sweet mango with the savoury poached chicken <br/><br/>The lime pana was another dish that was quite refreshing , it was jiggly and light in flavour <br/><br/>Thanks for having us

Superb presentations! Interesting menu and the burger x shake is the best cheat meal. Loves the caramelised banana on the egg waffle.<br/>Follow my ig for more foodie goodness: emptystomach

To be honest, food and coffee here was pretty good but I was very disappointed with the service.<br/>Not only did the coffee take about half an hour to be served, but we were given a face when asked whether our order went through. We were also ignored most of the time we had in the cafe as the waitress was busy chit chatting, deliberately ignoring us even when we made eye contact and gestures to order.<br/>Luckily the wait was worth it and the food tasted amazing but I just hope service here would improve.

Food is okay, but the egg tasted not so fresh. And customer service would improve for some staff, and the dining environment would also clean more properly.

How do I love this place? Let me count the ways...<br/>1. The coffee is always amazing<br/>2. The staff are lovely, warm and welcoming<br/>3. Have been here over five or six times and the food is consistently awesome. Everyone I've taken here loves it!<br/>4. The service is great! The staff have perfected the art of being attentive without being overbearing<br/>5. You're never disappointed with whatever you order off the menu<br/>So far the chilli scrambled eggs, eggs benedict and hotcakes have been my favourite although for someone that doesn't voluntarily enjoy vegetarian food, I did enjoy the heirloom carrots too<br/><br/>One of my favorite places to go to brunch by far💕👌🏼
Sam
Coffee was nice<br/>But scrambled egg dish was not bad, not really good, just okay<br/>I think serving dishes needs to be first not seating customers<br/><br/><br/>

Ordered:<br/>Nutella HK waffles<br/><br/>I’m comparing the waffles to Baba Sus’ because that’s where I fell in love with the HK style waffles. It should be noted that I’m not a huge chocolate fan so I didn’t enjoy the waffles as much as I thought I would. The waffle itself didn’t have a strong waffle taste, but the Nutella overkilled it. However, the vanilla mascarpone broke up the cocoa taste which was great because it was getting too much for me!

When it comes to aesthetics, Stanley definitely stands out in this realm. You feel invited as soon as you walk into the airy space and comfortable with the background noise of friendly chatter.!<br/><br/>Although I usually stick to the savoury dishes, Stanley’s hotcakes just looked too good to pass up. With the hotcakes came some raspberry curd, meringue, fresh raspberries and vanilla mascarpone. I can say with certainty that these hotcakes were exquisite! The presentation of the whole dish was beautiful, a work of art. And I can genuinely say they tasted as good as it looked. Portions are certainly decent, it filled me up quite quickly as I got to the third hotcake. <br/>We also ordered the beef brisket Benny which came on waffles. As simple as it was, we loved everything about it. Super tasty beef on top of perfectly poached eggs, we just couldn’t get enough of it!

I love exploring brunch hot spots in one of my fave cities (where I used to live), Melbourne. <br/><br/>We ordered the following: <br/><br/>The açai smoothie now is beautiful. This one was full of all of my favourites - granola, blueberries, strawberries, mango, coconut flakes, peanut butter and bee pollen which you can see on the top. The bowl had a bit too much granola in it - I was not expecting the bowl to be half filled with granola, a larger açai smoothie ratio would have been more to my liking. <br/><br/>Chilli scrambled eggs with bacon, chilli, coriander, cherry tomatoes, Vietnamese mint, fried shallots, parmesan and with a potato rosti on the side. <br/><br/>Smashed avocado and edamame with a poached egg, black sesame and feta on sourdough toast. A classic dish with the addition of smashed beans, what a great idea! <br/><br/>Opened up by a popular Melbourne cafe entrepreneur, Stanley offers classic brunch dishes with a slight Asian influence such as the bubble egg waffles and dishes featuring sriracha chilli. It’s a decent spot for coffee and I’m keen to come back to sample other dishes off the menu.

Stanley is located on Stanley Avenue in Mount Waverley. Situated in a suburban area, it has a minimalist interior with plenty of light & indoor plants. <br/><br/>We started with coffees & ordered a few dishes to share as well as smoothies. The nutberry & mango smoothies were rich & creamy & paired well with our brunch. <br/><br/>The beef brisket Benny was a delicious dish. Served on cornbread cheddar waffles, jalapeño hollandaise, the brisket was tender & falling apart. It’s not a very photogenic dish but the flavours are spot on. <br/><br/>We loved the mango chicken salad, so light & fresh. The poached chicken, sobs noodles & mango worked so well with the lime & coconut dressing & we both loved this dish. <br/><br/>We finished with the coconut & lime pannacotta, served with a cranberry & buckwheat granola, plenty of fruit & grilled pineapple. A light & fresh dish, not too sweet & the perfect way to finish our brunch. <br/><br/>The staff at Stanley were friendly & attentive and dealt with the huge amount of customers with ease. We were surprised at how busy it was based on its location but it seems that it’s a very popular spot. Thanks so much for having us.

A friend of mine discovered Stanley and recommended that I go. I was already set on visiting but an amazing thing happened and we won their competition and got a months worth of free coffee! I was blown away by their menu and it was almost impossible to choose what to eat. Everything looks and sounds delicious. The exterior and interior of the cafe was warm, cozy and perfect. Table service was great and staff were lovely. I cannot wait to use up my free coffee card and try out more of their menu items. Thank you to the staff at Stanley!

Coffee is great. Atmosphere fantastic. The dish I had - soba noodles with chicken & mango creamy sauce- I do not understand. It was too rich, and sweet, with zero tang. What more it had capsicum, another sweet ingredient. Needs alot of work that dish. The description on the menu gave a different perception to what it actually was. When you put mango, noodles, salad, chicken, it gives to something light & refreshing in mind.  The Eggs on toast my friend had looked good though.

Exceptional every time! great food, great service and highly efficient. We've brought the whole gang with us (upto 5) and had no problems in being seated even though it's only a small place. The chillied scrambled eggs are BOSS ... as is the schnitzel and any of the breakfast items. Something for every taste and limitation on the menu and the staff are so very attentive to dietary and allergy requirements. Can't speak highly enough of this place, worth the drive and if you're local .. well that's a double bonus!

Stanley is yet another hidden gem cafe. Tucked away in a thick residential street in Mount Waverley, this lively cafe is always busy and buzzing. The menu is quite vast and is very atttactive to young and old. The food is beautifully presented and very tasty! The salad bowls, the waffles, the modern twist on Asian favourites like Thai salad are all worth a try. Good coffees and tumeric lattes. Drop in if you can find this place!

Enjoyed a quick lunch while I was in the neighborhood, it was excellent! <br/>Nestled in residential area, it must be an oasis for the locals, but noticed a younger clientele probably from nearby offices or uni students. <br/><br/>Menu is simple, but seems quite healthy- I opted for the schnitzel. It was a good plate: chicken breast was trimmed to several cutlets topped with coleslaw dressed with good mayo that's not out of a jar.<br/><br/>But praise must go to the coffee served here, I ordered an espresso and had an helluja moment. The chap brought an info card describing what I am about to drink. With a touch of cynicism, I tasted probably best shot of coffee in ages. Perhaps I was swayed by the tasting notes, but it did delivered what the card said. <br/>

Another hidden treasure! Stanley provides great food and drinks. It is always busy here but the service has always been top notch. I would recommend their Nutella HongKong Waffles as they were heaven on a plate (as I have a sweet tooth!). Sometimes, it can get a bit loud but I would still highly recommend this place!

A cafe situated in the middle of suburbia, converted from an old milk bar to an absolutely delightful cafe for the locals. With such simplicity and flavour and menu, the locals in the area are truly spoilt by such a hidden treasure in Stanley.

Food was nice with lot of choices, coffee was good. Service was friendly, another good place in mt waverley and for sure will be back. recommended

A fantastic array of menu choices, excellent service & quality food. This ‘sleepy hollow’ street has come alive since Stanley opened. Been there about 4 times now & they consistently deliver high quality delicious food & service. <br/>My only suggestion to improve would be to offer a better variety of cold drinks eg ice tea for those of us who don’t like smoothies or want fizzy drinks. Fortunately they made me a perfect ice tea when I was there last time which I appreciated.

Came here the other day with a friend after hearing great reviews. It lived up to the hype. Service was great on the day and was hoping that they had more variety on the menu. overall was very happy. Will be back

I came here for lunch with a friend and am disappointed to say that the service was terrible. The staff were very friendly when we were able to get their attention so it seems that they were just swamped and under staffed. Regardless, a 1 hour wait for just our coffees to be brought to us is a bit ridiculous.<br/>On the upside, the food was delicious so I am willing to come back again. Hopefully my service expericence was just a once off.

A beautiful combination of colors. Being one of the highly rated cafes in Melbourne, I have been wanting to visit this cafe. Located in a residential area, its signboard standout. The simple yet elegant design attracts me very much. It was busy afternoon for them but we only waited for 5 minutes and was brought to our table by friendly hostess. We started with two flat whites and was surprised the coffee was overpowered by milk. Beef brisket Benny was salty in my opinion as it paired with a flavored waffle. The portion was rather small than I expected. Nutella Hong Kong Waffle was sweet which I think a group of friends can share it as a dessert, not as a brunch for one. The presentation of both dishes are beautifully done and it is no doubt Stanley would become a favorite spot for Instagramers. I would give it another shot for its ambience and friendly services. But hope the standard of the food would improve.

The hotcakes were delicious and totally insta-worthy! Staff were really nice and friendly as well :)) However the there wasn’t a large range of items to choose from on the menu, but it was a great experience overall!

Very surprised to find a foodie heaven in a quiet residential area.  Food was very good - tastes good, deliciously appealing food design. Great coffee too. Cafe was full at lunchtime, hence very noisy and our group added considerably to the decibels!!!  Service attitude was a bit mixed as we initially had a very obliging waitress but the next waitress needs a bit more training especially when shown the long hair in one of the dish.  We were not asking for a free meal as we enjoyed the dish and had almost finished the meal.  There was no apology but a remark that none of the kitchen staff had long blond hair.  Our response was "Neither do we" as we all had short black hair.  To our surprise, the cafe seemed to be preparing to close at around 2.30pm when the chairs around us were stacked on the tables and the floor cleaning started. We were expecting the cafe to close at 4pm.  Anyway we took the hint and left for another cafe to continue chatting and eating.  For someone who is normally not keen on pannacotta, the Coconut Lime Pannacotta was excellent. I will return for that!

One of my absolute favs <br/>Delicious food no matter what we try. Attention to detail is a 10/10 <br/>Perfect location no matter the weather <br/>Highly recommend

Went to this cafe on a weekday afternoon at about 3pm and there were still a number of people having brunch there. I ordered the beef brisket eggs benedict on a cheese waffle and a drinking coconut. The coconut juice was cold and refreshing on a hot day. My only gripe was that they didn’t cut the coconut opening large enough for me to enjoy the flesh which I thought was a waste. The eggs benny was delicious - yolks were runny and beef was tender and flavourful. I enjoyed the waffle too - it was a nice change from toast. My partner enjoyed the chicken schnitzel and salad. The schnitzel was thin, tender, crispy and flavourful. I would have liked some sourness in the salad to cut through the oiliness of the fried chicken. Otherwise it was a great meal. I would return to try their nutella waffles!

We love visiting this cafe which is near where we live. This is a very trendy cafe, and the food here is wonderful. The food is your classic Melbourne dishes that are always gonna impress! The hotcakes are a favourite!

A great addition to the cafe scene around the Monash area. We dined on a weekday morning and it was quite crowded! The waiter was super friendly and attentive. I had the beef brisket benedict. Although the serving looked quite small, it was very filling! I particularly enjoyed the crispy cheese waffle base. What a unique idea! The downside was that the pulled beef oozed a little bit of liquid, making the plate slightly watery. The beef could also have been more flavourful. We also tried the matcha latte with soy ($6!). Sadly, it was very weak and hence the soy taste overpowered the matcha. I don't recommend it, especially at $6. Scrambled eggs was a winner, however. Very flavourful, spicy and fluffy. Overall, I would return again (especially living nearby) to try their other dishes!

This place is simply special. Don't judge by the location as it is in a residential area. If you are turned off by that, then i say you definitely are missing out! Open your minds and watch your taste buds go wild.<br/><br/>The coffee is exceptional even when you compare that most melbourne coffee is very, very good. I watched the barista make the coffee...there is some extreme care right there. And you can taste that care when you drink it. Smooth as can be.<br/><br/>The menu is very interesting. I tried the smoothie bowl for something different - extremely tasty and most interesting flavors there. Must try!!<br/><br/>And my wife had the breakfast bowl. She loved it and I tried a bite. Never thought i would like kale in there but it surprisingly good. Refreshing and mouthwatering.<br/><br/>In summary - do go and you will not be disappointed!!
