Just above average thai food which has closed now.
Ordered green curries and thai salads which were mediocre and dissapointing.
Trading as 191 a Asian Fusion type place these days

Driven past this place many times. Decided to stop today as there was parking. Ordered the chicken green curry with rice and the tom yum prawn noodle soup. Curry was nice. Good thing I wasn't hungry as there wasn't much of a serving. Hardly any chicken nor veges. My son had the tom yum and said the noodles were all lumped together. Was a very small serve. We were trying to guess how much lunch was as it wasn't clear on the menu, guessing that it might be about $10 each given the size of each dish. Surprised it came to $28.50 for both. Would've given it a higher score but highway robbery? Least we've tried it. Won't be back.

Tucked away at the top end of Blackburn Rd, Aroy-Dee sits away from the main cluster of restaurants further down the hill in Syndal. The immediate bonus is that parking is relatively easy out the front. The only caveat is that it is an extremely busy intersection and backing out can be a bit nerve wrecking. There is alternative parking at the back too.

Aroy-Dee has the ambiance and fitout of a roadside diner you might find in Thailand. The fitout isn't exactly flash, so don't expect white linen on the tables. The owners are friendly and service is efficient.

We ordered a variety of dishes including the rice burger, pad thai, pineapple fried rice, green curry chicken and the massaman beef curry.

My sons enjoyed the rice burger and the fried rice, both were very generous in portions.

My wife ordered the pad thai beef, and I suspect having beef in pad thai wasn't the best idea. The beef was on the dry side and she didn't like the taste. Maybe it was the curry, but the beef tasted ok to me in the curry.

I really like supporting the underdogs and you can tell that the owners here are really giving their business a red hot go. I would definitely go back to support them and try other items on their menu.

p.s they also do home deliveries, a service the owner was eager to share with us.

A very, very small takeaway restuarant. The three curries that I've tasted did not disappoint. The chicken pad thai that I had was also amongst one of the best I've had. We were offered free box of white rice on our first visit so we visited again 3 days later and the results were absolutely amazing. Would recommend to everyone, the only downfall is the location - car spots are very limited!

Prices are very wallet friendly and the food is pretty tasty. . The chicken pad Thai was loaded with chicken breast, spring onions and omelette ($7.95). What I love about pad Thai is the savoury sauce/gravy that the noodles are tossed through. This was a pretty good version of it.
Put The Kettle On
A good authentic pad thai is hard to find, not sure why when it's quite a simple dish. Unfortunately Aroy-Dee's version is disappointing. And I've had a few good PT's in Thailand. The version on the streets of Thailand have no carrots and celery (which really overpowers the dish) -- but Aroy Dee's has :( plus the sauce is too sweet. Make us authentic Thai rather than, what seems to be a westernized version. A bit hesitant to return, even if well priced, PT chicken was $7.95.

Hidden gem. This small family restaurant just recently opened (I think less than 6mth) and finally we managed to order a couple of take away meals. We ordered Papaya Salad, Pad Thai & Chicken Red Curry... Omg, I fell in love straight away with their red curry and papaya salad. Service a bit slow due to high volume for take away but the owner humbly apologised for delays.
We will return! Highly recommended to drop them a call to check table availabilty due to limited table setting if you want to dine-in
