This is the second time I have written this review as my other just vanish mysteriously 😳
We called into FPPI for a take away coffee and breakfast snack while driving on a road trip. Easily missed so look out for signs and bike of the corner of the gardens just opposite. The interior is calming and pleasant and there is a good selection of both sweet and savoury pastries as well as the most delicious looking baked breads (bread happy hour from 3pm each day ... half price loaves)
The coffee was nice and flavoursome and would suit most people without the need to grab a second shot. My escargot pastry was light and full of yummy soaked sultanas... perfect for me.
Glad we stopped in.
Coffee, tea and cake for an end of year function. There was no trouble booking and no trouble with the service even though everyone ordered separately. Drinks were a little disjointed in arriving but if you have a larger party, there's always the debate, should the drinks all come out at the same time, or come as they are ready - especially when you are talking about coffee. They came as they were ready which was fine because we could see that the drinks were being made and brought straight over. No problems getting soy for those with alergies too.
Then we had cakes! The cakes were just the right amount of sweetness with a good amount of tartness, especially on the lemon tart! The others were all beautiful as well and with the tiny pieces they had been cut into - so that we could share - you could try lots of stuff. ... And not share :D They are mine! All mine.
Good service and I would recommend going there for more than just coffee and cake!
Interlude is a hidden local treasure. The food is delicious, the service is warm and bright and the coffees are always a treat. Highly recommend!
What I love about Interlude Patisserie the most is that they're not stingy when it comes to using the proper amounts of butter - you can taste and feel the butteryness and flakiness of the pastry. Also, the bakers there are very skilled in ensuring that while these are sweet things are not sickly sweet - the sweetness is perfectly balanced.
If I had to pick a favourite, then it'd be the palmiers. I've never been a fan of this flaky, biscuity-pastry until now. Now I can definitely see why people love this. It's gorgeously buttery in flavour. There is a subtle mellow caramel flavour coming through which doesn't over power. It's flaky and incredibly delicate and you can taste the many, many layers of pastry. It's delicious, it's divine, it's mine!
Fantastic coffee every time!! Perfect flavour consistently!!!! Love having this place within walking distance. Hidden little gem. The cakes are nice too!
Every morning we drive past a bicycle chained to a street sign advertising this patisserie. Every morning I wonder what it would be like. Today we finally got to go in and find out. It was a cold day outside but as soon as we walked inside and shut the door if it weren't for the large window...
A great little place tucked away! I've only had take away coffees and fresh bread but so far so good!!
I will definitely be having breakfast their soon. Give it a shot!!
So glad they have opened as the area had needed a great cafe that does make the best coffee in the area. The chicken pie is the best I have had in a while. Great atmosphere and the service is fantastic. Try the caramel macaroons. Definitely come back.
Quaint little cafe near a school. Excellent staff and yummy coffee. Almond croissant a must try.Not your usual buttery, fluffy croissant this one has got its own flavor
Great service, beautiful atmosphere particularly on a Sunday morning - relaxed people reading the paper and enjoying delicious cakes, not trying to be a grungy inner Melbourne hipster cafe..
Great cheerful service. Noticed they had stream of regulars coming through while I was there for breakfast. I have been here a couple of times only and am really enjoying the coffee and food here which is fresh and well made. It'sasant location on a side street opposite a park does much for the experience. Hubby and I are happy to come back. Also noticed they do a French High Tea here which requires booking. For anyone with a sweet tooth it looks amazing.
Really happy I discovered this lovely cafe. I love Provincial French style, so it was right up my alley. I sat on the plush armchairs near the front window which were very comfy. Friendly service and enjoyed my coffee, looking forward very much to trying the breakfast menu!
Good atmosphere with relaxing view of parkland. Good coffee. Waffles were delicious. Very reasonable prices. Got too noisy (but mostly our own group I suspect!)
Lovely little cafe / patisserie in suburbs. The pastries and food is lovey so I'll be back to sample more of them. The staff are all really lovely so I would think the locals would visiting regularly. They have a cute little terrace out the back too.
Cafe has changed owners and is not a Patisserie any longer. Name has changed too. It's now called "99%" . Menu is expanded and includes interesting lunch items, some with a Japanese influence. I need to go back and try more. Coffee is still good though.
