What we ordered: 🦪 fried crumbled oysters 🌟 Rating: 4/5 🐷pork tang Su Yuk (crispy pork with sweet & sour sauce 🌟 Rating: 4/5 🍙Japchae rice 🌟 Rating: 4/5 🍜jjam bbong noodle (spicy seafood noodle soup) 🌟 Rating: 4/5 💬 A consistent high rating across the board from me on the food we ordered from Daol! Would like to start by saying their food portion is HUGE! We obviously shared everything we ate but I would personally struggle with finishing an individual dish on my own. 🥰☺️ We don't usually order fried oysters but theirs were battered beautifully and oysters were super creamy inside!🤩 One of the best crispy sweet sour pork I've had! The serving was ridiculously big, meant to be ordered for a large group I imagine, each individual pork rib piece were huge. The sweet & sour sauce were thick and tasty! Never tried Japchae with rice and I question why this isn't common! It worked so natural, the japchae and its sweet and savory flavor was so delicious to pair with the rice, probably would request a bowl of rice next time I get japchae elsewhere 😂 JJam Bbong noodle was super spicy but was still so enjoyable, huge portion again and enjoyed every bit of it! Overall a very friendly service, delicious authentic Korean flavors - will we return, YES !😋

Highly recommend when you want to eat korean style chinese food. Staffs were friendly, food also amazing. But weekend lunch time is super very busy, so I recommend to make a reservation.

Restaurant is usually busy at peak hours. The signature dish is Pork Tang Su Yuk which tasted great and can easily feed 2 or 3 people. Other dishes tried are OK but not great.

Came here on Thursday 1130hrs and it wasn't packed, only two other occupied tables. Ordered the pork tang su yuk, Jjam Bbong noodle, my friend had it with rice. The dishes were very good, service good too. Had to show vaccination cert and check in of course. I'm only giving 4 stars because the price is quite high. We had to take away the food and were told first takeaway container is free, subsequent ones are twenty cents. While the restaurant faces the main road, there are lots of parking behind with 1 hour park, 2 and 4 hours too.

Yang Jang Pi and Jjang Myeon were really delicious, huge portions, good prices and fantastic staff, would definitely go back.

I am actually quite impressed of Daol. Great customer service, delicious authentic Korean-chinese food and reasonable prices. It was well worth the travel from home to try their food 🙂🐷

The portion looked pretty small at the first place but we could not finish them at the end. Chicken Kkhan Pung Gi is my personal fav. When I had my first bite, the sweetness came first then the kick started to elevate. That spicy and numb aftertaste was super strong and I’m in love with that. I guess it would taste even better dining in. As for the Beef Bulgogi Rice, it didn’t taste like mainstream bulgogi. It had than wok Hei (charted aroma) which was surprisingly amazing!

We ordered takeaway pork tungsooyoke, japchae & ja-jang meon for family birthday isolation dinner. All the dishes were delicious! Thank you Daol for staying open during this season of safe distancing 🙏🏽

We have been here a few times now and have never had any issues
The meals come out quick and the staff are nice.
Bring cash as you get a discount.
Always a good time when you visit Daol

A few of my Korean friends love this place for Chinese-Korean cuisine, which is a specific style in itself.

The ja-jang-myeon (black bean noodles) had a thick sauce which you mix through the noodles. I ordered a pork version, but I honestly only counted 3 pieces of nail-sized pork. Nice deep flavour though.

The jjampong seafood noodles had an amazing soup. Base vegetables of onion and zucchini were charred, which added another level of flavour to the seafood broth. There were lots of squid and huge juicy mussel.

The mini boiled dumplings were a tad disappointing though. Filled with mushy and watery pork and vegetables, it didn't have much flavour.

Great local find for Korean-Chinese food though!

Really enjoyed the food. Rating is only based on two dishes ordered - Prawn fried rice (ordered a side of jajang sauce afterwards) and Pork Tangsuyuk. Serving sizes were generous and very filling for 2 people. The place is a hit among local Korean diners which means the food must be quite good in general. It was a bit hard trying to figure out which staff were kitchen/serving staff though.

Nice, cozy, family friendly restaurant. Always busy & full of Koreans. This is always a good sign that the food is good.
Bulgogi beef & rice was delicious. Sweet & sour pork was a favourite too!
Eaten at the restaurant & ordered takeout. Always good.

We came here for lunch today , had been looking up to Korean food for a while . We had the set including the sweet and sour pork , prawn fried rice and Koran ja jang myeon . Love everything we ordered , especially the ja jang myeon, it’s kind of sweet and salty , full of flavor. Hubby’s favorite is the fried rice . Looking forward to come back to try other dishes soon .

Sunday night and the store was a little busy, regardless, the service quality was really poor. What seemed like the owners wife or female manager was the only person with decent service. The all so popular jjajangmyung wasn’t up to its popularity. The noodle was not fully cooked and the amount of sauce was limited. After the initial order, we ordered an extra bowl and it literally came out in 1 minute. As a restaurant operator too, this is pre-prepared food served at order. Really bad way to serve customers quality food. The deep fried pork sweet and sour was very soggy and had lost all its crispyness. This also came out within 5 mins ordering. Deep fried food through the fryer does not cook within 5 mins, this too was all pre fried and served heated. Usually, I give places another go, but I would not return nor make recommendations.

Staff are oblivious and slow walked in and stood at the counter completely ignored will staff running around on either side of us totally ignoring us, wasn’t until I stopped one of them that she acknowledged us.
Food was ok , service was very quick, it almost felt like we were in a fast food restaurant, there was no atmosphere or care , we ordered a couple of dishes that never arrived, when we enquired as to their whereabouts we were told , these items are not available tonight. Why not tell me this when I ordered ????
It’s a no from me !!!

We went to this Korean- Japanes Restaurant at lunch time, quite a few diners there, obviously shows a good sign. We ordered Ja-Jang-Myeon (Black sauce noodle) and Teriyaki Lunch Box, both of them were tasty and generous in serving size. Staff are friendly. We will be back again.
Brian Kim
Can't fault them, kind service and great dishes. Black bean noodles were standard and so was the 탕수육. Only thing would be value for the serving sizes - I thought the noodles were on the small side for $13, but that didn't take away from the taste!

Pretty good Korean style Chinese food.
The quality (& quantity) is better than the more well known Korchi.
Spicy seafood noodle soup (짬뽕) is pretty good although could do a little more kick.
The Large share plate black bean noodle is better than the original black bean noodles. If you go for lunch, they offer a set option with the large shate plate black bean noodles (쟁반 짜장면) and sweet and sour pork which is enough to feed t least 3 people. I recommend that set!!

Daol is the one of the places I go to satisfy my jajjangmyun cravings. Located on Stephensons Road, there is plenty of parking and the interior is modern with an upstairs eating area too. The menu offers a wide variety of Korean/Chinese fusion and Japanese dishes. Service is average but efficient.

I love Korean Jjambbong. By the way, this restaurant’ Jjambbong was a disappointment. little noodles and only squid without other seafood. It tasted bad, too.

Visited for lunch. We had the lunch set, where you can choose 2 noodle/rice dishes and chicken khan-pung-gi or pork tang-su-yuk for $45-48. We chose jajjangmyun, jjambbong and the chicken dish to share between two people.
Service: Average.
Food: Jajjangmyun sauce was bland and gluggy (more than it should be) and noodles were overcooked. Jjambbong soup had good flavour but was tad salty. Chicken was good.
Ambience: The dining hall has a modern, minimalistic vibe. However, loud music coming from the kitchen and shouting between wait staff and kitchen ruined the ambience a little.
Note: They offer a 3% discount if you pay cash

Overall, it was an OK experience. May visit again for the jjambbong but it's not suitable for a romantic date.
Dined here for dinner with a friend last night. Very hit & miss. Entree we shared the steamed dumpling & mixed tempura (prawn & vege). The dumplings were disappointing, cold in temperature & hardly any pork filling in them & they were flavourless. Mixed tempura was nice, batter quite thick but prawn & veges were tasty. For main we shared the beef bulgogi rice & sizzling teriyaki chicken & rice. The beef was disappointing, 80% rice, some veges & very small amount of shredded low quality beef, no flavour & overall disappointing. Chicken teriyaki was our favourite. Came out on a sizzling plate with lots of pieces of chicken & veges & tasty flavour. This place in the entertainment book also so you get a good discount. Staff couldn't even get this bit right, the discount on our bill was incorrect but we couldn't be bothered over a few dollars. Overall there are much better Asian places to eat elsewhere.

I've been hearing from friends that this place has the best jjangmyeon in Melbourne. I would come back here if I was craving it!

Ambience: Pretty nice and modern resturant, the resturant has a front and back area and would be great for a family dinner or a small event.

Service: Same as usual, what I would expect from anywhere. The waiter was nice and gave honest suggestions for jjangmyeon (regret not taking his suggestions).

Food: We ordered three jjangmyeon dishes( two pork and one seafood) and one Chicken Katsu Curry. The jjan was pretty good and was really tasty, it was one of the better ones I've tasted in Melbourne and was on par to hangukguan in the CBD. They had a seafood jjangmyeon which was really good! Had a strong flavour and I would recommend that.

The curry was average, lots of chicken and large serving.

They have a wide range of food on their menu, if youre in the area and not sure what food to eat then I'd pop by here.

For some reason I have been trying out a variety of Korean food in Melbourne, maybe they’d caught my eye recently.

I saw very good reviews on this restaurant and thought we will give it a try for dinner.

It was a hot Melbourne day and I was after some cooling food so I ordered Yukke and cold noodles (dipped in sesame sauce) while my partner had curry (pork katsu) rice.

The yukke was one of the best I have had, the beef being the better quality type and also defrosted to a level that wasn’t just icy to eat. The portion is also very generous.

The cold noodles was plentiful and I would recommend this dish for sharing if you are ordering a few dishes in a big party. The curry rice was a disappointment, the crumb overpowering the pork, too thinly cut.

Service was very good and friendly, three small side dish came along with our meals, completing the Korean food experience.

I would recommend anyone to go in a party of at least 4 as the main dish portion is visibly larger so perfect for sharing.

The best jjam-bbong around! I’ve had the lunch box specials (bulgogi and curry katsu) and they offer reasonably affordable lunch boxes, but by far I would recommend the jjam-bbong and the pork tang-Su-yuk.

The Jjam-Bbong is quite spicy, but the flavour is amazing and is the best in town! As for the pork tang-su-yuk, it’s nice and crispy, and has a nice balance between the batter and the pork itself. Personally, I like asking for the sweet and sour sauce to be separate from the actual fried pork, but that’s really up to personal taste.

Overall the service and waiting time is not too long and is a nice Korean restaurant in the south-east area.

Amazing. Best Jjajangmyun and tangsuyuk in town. Went under the recommendation of my Korean aunties and legit wow. Highly highly recommend it. It's full of Koreans all the time and that's always a good sign. Price is great service was ridiculously good for an Asian place and the food was top notch.

Recommended by Korean friends. We tried black source noodles (seafood) and spicy seafood noodles soup. Their black source noodles are the best one I've ever had in Melbourne. Spicy seafood noodles soup was not only spicy but also delicious. I will come back to try other dishes soon.

Last week i visited at this restaurant. When i arrived at this restaurant all the tables was fully booked but they manage to give me a table ! There are all very nice people and they were all very friendly to me so i will definitely come back again with my friends!
I ordered chicken kanpungi and usually its a spicy dishes but they allow you to change the sauce less spicy and more sweater so if by any chance you go by to that restaurant dont be afraid to ask any modification of your dishest.

Great authentic Korean food. Had the Beef Bulgogi, black sauce noodles and egg rice. Flavours were incredible. Incredibly busy, actually thought we wouldn't get a table when we first arrived but the wonderful waitress squeezed us in and the service was outstanding. It's licenced but we BYO'd. Highly recommend

탕수육 정말 맛있는 집. 한국의 왠만한 동네 중국집 탕수육보다 맛있다. 쟁반짜장도 괜찮구 짬뽕은 좀 맵다.......................................................................,.........,

Reasonably priced with decent portions; they give you lots of meat and vegetables! I brought my friend here, who is a real foodie and she said it was the best Bi Bim Bap she's ever tasted. I would also recommend the Beef Bulgogi. It's my go-to local Korean/Jap restaurant and would definitely recommend it.

This place is a gem. First time here and just ask what's the specialty
Introduced to bulgogi lunch box, jajangmyun and spicy noodle.
I have to say this is delicious. The jajangmyun is to the sweeter side. Very generous topping.
Hubby got the spicy noodle. Too spicy for me but he said it was just right.
Kids had the bulgogi lunch box. For $14.9, it was a really good deal. It comes with 2sushis, salad, 2 dumpling, 3 vege tempura and a bowl of miso soup.
It's not 5.0 rating because the meat for bulgogi was quite hard. Adult has trouble chewing it. Even worst for kids.
Would come back again but not for the bulgogi lunch box set.

One of my go-to Korean/Japanese fusion restaurants! Service is always so lovely and the quality and portion of food has always been of good standard. My go-to menu item: the Tempura Prawn Curry Rice or the Spicy Tofu Rice.
☺️

Delicious food. They understand what vegan means. Spicy Sizzling Tofu, Teriyaki Tofu, Ageashi tofu (minus Bonito flakes)
Lovely friendly staff. Great value

One of the few Korean places that I left not feeling impressed at all. Had the lunch bento which had beef bulgogi (chewy and it had more onions than beef), dumplings were the tiniest I've ever seen, tempura lacked seasoning , sushi had way too much rice in it. The salad and soup were alright, and where's the kimchi as side dish? Unlikely to return :(

The food was brilliant and the service was outstanding! David displayed excellent customer service skills. Would go back here for his service especially. He not only made his customers happy- but delighted them :)

I really love this restaurant!
Delicious and price also pretty good!!
Staff so friendly!!
I want to go Daol every day!
The owner which is chef
His cooking so nice!!!
Asian food is number one place!!

It is my regular place to go during weekends. Love the seafood fried rice - really generous portion and very aromatic.

Waiting staff are great and the place is kids-friendly with special cutlery for kids.

Parking is ample at rear.

I liked the interior and the staffs were really kind and friendly!
After some really good reviews about this place, I made a visit to this place driving all the way from bentleigh! However, it wasn't as great as I had heard of!
The jjajangmyun was okayish and jjajangbaap was a lol bland.

Daol serves some really nice Korean fusion cuisine. I tried the kimchi udon which was really delicious with the right amount of spiciness! I love the strong dashi broth in the soup too. Their Korean seafood noodle soup (jjam-bbong) was pretty good too, really spicy and filled with nice seafood. The croquettes (crab) were amazing, but really tiny! Since it costs $12 for only four small pieces (compared to their main dishes that start from ~$14), it unfortunately was not worth it for me regardless of the taste.
The interior is a little plain, but has a nice ambience. They have larger seating area at the back for groups! Service was friendly too. Since it's one of the more expensive Korean eateries around, I'll probably be back only once in a while :)

Great local fusion restaurant with a fantastic mix of Korean and Japanese cuisine; the food was great and the staff friendly! The yuzu tea was delicious, but I would have preferred a small tea pot rather than a single teacup. The restaurant also has really nice ambient music in the background. Overall a satisfyingly pleasant experience and I will definitely plan on returning!
Grace
Absolutely beautifully designed modern interior, staff members are very friendly and attentive. I had the California Roll and it was beautifully presented and tasted as great as it looked! This cuisine needs more recognition and I would definitely recommend this Korean restaurant to friends and family!
Hill0720
Quite pleasant surroundings, but the dominance of hard surfaces would make it very noisy if the place was even half full, this wasn't a problem when I went as there were only two other tables occupied.

Staff were pleasant and attentive.

Food was dreadful. I ordered two entrees to try the tempura (always a good guide to quality) and a familiar Korean pancake dish (kimchi Jeon). The batter for the Tempura was heavy and oily, nothing like a proper Tempura batter should be. The other dish was inedible, a stodgy mix of kimchi, soggy pastry and onion etc. that had the texture of wet cement. The house sake was low quality with quite sour overtones. I imagine some of the reviews for this place are from friends of the family! For an excellent genuine Korean meal drive a little distance to Suga next to Jordanville station. I won't be going to Deol again.

Today is 10 times. Because It's delicious! I always ordered chicken kkanpungi, Jjambbong and prawn tempura! And today, I ordered kkanpungi, BBQ galbi sizzling and Rainbow califonia roll~! The kkanpungi isGood to share for 3people. It's lovely~~!!

I was poisoned here!
I will come here again.

Food are great!! Staff are all smiling and nice
I will definetely come again with friends !
The place is pretty new so not many know the place yet but it is a great place to have dinner and so close to mount waverley station. My favorite meal is Jajang myeon which is a noodle dishe with black sauce with pork :)
Daol was a warm and friendly atmosphere with modern interior. I had Mixed Tempura, Chicken Katzu Sizzling, Kyu Niku Maki and Soy chicken wings because I really like fries. They were very crispy and delicious. Next time I'd like to have wine at Daol as there were wines with many entrees.
Rebecca Moon
It is so nice and beautiful all the dishes. Love this cuisine :) i will definitely come again. I am extremely satisfied what they did for us.
