Review Benito's - Mt Eliza

Maxine Miraglia
We had a great meal at Benito's tonight. The chef came out to speak to me about the menu as I have serious food allergies. She was wonderful and went out of her way to cater to my needs. The service was very good and the wine we chose was superb. Thank you for making our dinner a pleasant experience, we will be back.

I have had two experiences at Benito's and both were very positive! The function we had there went very smoothly. We were allowed access to the room early to set up, meals were prompt and delicious and all plans went well. I also went for dinner with a group of friends and enjoyed a lovely dinner and dessert. The staff are friendly and accomodating. Thanks very much :)

We've eaten here several times. Always good food and good service. Pizzas are delicious! Fresh, quality ingredients and perfectly cooked. Risottos and pastas are always tasty too. Good size servings. Very friendly staff who always make us feel welcome.

I was lucky enough to have my 21st Birthday party here at this amazing venue. The staff were fabulous, they provided great service and were more than willing to help out with my last minute changes. The food was spectacular, and they did an amazing job accomodating to all the different dietary requirements of my friends and family. Lastly, their function room was lovely and super spacious, and they let us go all out with the decorations! Thank you Benitos for ensuring I had a lovely and memorable night ❤

Service was great, considering that only 2 young girls were left to look after the Customers, coming in, taking the order and serve. Being Valentine's Day, it had no Atmosphere or Finesse. I dined at Benito's about 10 years ago, and it was great so I decided to come back on my 60th Birthday. I guess things change over the years. I suggest that it needs a head waiter to overseer, and bring a bit of an Atmosphere. I also suggest a little bit of TLC as the Bar looks a bit outdated

Absolutely terrible. $150 for the worst four meals I think I have even. Service, shocking, no care or professionalism in those four walls what so ever. Waiter cleared plates while others were still eating, unfriendly, sloppy and unprofessional. This place should be avoided like the plague. If I could give it negative stars I would. I have worked in a number of restaurants and to charge $30+ for badly executed meals in a cold room is an embarrassment. Someone from our table had to get the firewood from outside start the fire to warm the room up. Just wow. Lazy. Witnessed 2 walk outs whole we were there. It's basic food you could cook better yourself. This place deserves to go down and judging by the lack of customers on a Friday night that probably won't take long.

Our first time at Benitos was a good experience . We had the seafood 3-course meal for two people and were very satisfied. Other diners were eating pizzas and pasta dishes, but the decidedly Italian menu is wide and varied. Background music is soft and pleasant, and the atmoshere congenial. Our waitress was wonderful and attentive, making the time spent there most enjoyable. Benitos do weddings and other receptions too. You couldn't want a nicer place.

We went to Benito's during the week with some friends and it was great. The food and service was second to none! It was a cold night and the fire was on, it reminded me of a ski lodge, a real winter hideaway in the heart of Mt Eliza. The table next to us got pizza and pasta so i am now looking forward to going back and trying the rest of the menu

Always love it- We are regulars-Food is fresh, staff are friendly- We've been coming for years. Parmas are always great and they use "real" chicken breast. My husband loves the pork belly and my daughter usually orders salt and pepper calamari- Fish and chips are tasty too. Highly recommended

Even though it has reasonable prices the food is really budget. Better meal at a fast food chain.

We recently held my partner's 80th birthday celebration here - organiser listened to and met our requirements - it was a great room, the food was beautiful, and the service was tireless & ever-smiling.  The feedback we had from our family and friends about the venue was very positive.  I hadn't been to Benito's for some years but would definitely return.

I have been to Benito's many times as a restaurant (and once for my wedding!)<br/><br/>Restaurant - beautiful intimate setting, friendly staff and the food has always been impeccable. We have dined as a couple, in groups, during pasta and steak night specials as well as just off the general menu, and I can never fault them!<br/><br/>Wedding - my husband and I regularly talk about how amazing our wedding was. It was both beautiful and affordable! And again the food was delicious and such large serves for such a good price. We always compare other weddings and still think Benito's has been number 1!<br/><br/>Whatever you're looking for, I highly recommend Benito's. The staff are so friendly you can organise anything easily and feel like you're chatting to a friend rather than someone trying to sell you something. A+++++!

Been to lots of functions- Always top notch- Attended a family wedding recently- Food is to die for and we always have so much fun.<br/><br/>The venue is a great location with a beautiful atmosphere and very modest prices- Cant believe we  can get such value on the Peninsula- I can't talk highly enough. The staff are dedicated and make you feel special<br/><br/>Just love the place

Out of the four dishes, not one was up to scratch. My Salmon Risotto was bland, had lots of big bits of uncooked green beans and large pieces of raw onion. The Bacon Carbonara, had uncooked bacon pieces and bits of bacon rind, there was lumps of cooked egg (not made correctly) and the pasta was clumped together. The other Bacon Carbonara also had uncooked bacon pieces, bacon rind and big pieces of pepper, the last dish was Chicken Pesto, which didn't taste like Pesto more like Olive Oil, the Cherry tomatoes were just a normal tomato cut up, there was pieces of random carrot and uncooked onion, the spinach was not washed correctly & the pasta was clumped together. Second time we have tried it, never again, not worth it.

We had the carbonara pasta,<br/>chorizo pasta and pizza for entree. All cooked really well. Table service was good. Would come back again for sure.

Went today for lunch. The place has a potential to become divine: The restaurant sign is in black and white and kind of hidden: will pay off to get a new ...colourful...one. <br/>The garden as such: nothing special: no flwers at sight (but an empty beer bottle under a tree) - a sad gazebo. <br/>As one get to the entrance: a dirty mat and, again nothing appealing ...not even a large plant and , no flowers to welcome guests.<br/>Walked it: nobody at sight:had to go to the kitchen to get some service.<br/>The guy that came out was not that welcoming : I would say he look kind of "tired" and, well.....what do you want?? - We were showed our small table and there were only 2 other people + 1 guy leaving and later another couple came. <br/>The menu had red printing markd and was not nicely presented: just held in some plastic sheets.<br/>We had antipasto for starters: was good.<br/>Main: Seafood platter: we got fried calamari, shrims, and 2 pieces of fish on chips. Not big but, substantial: forgot to mention: 1 scallop (!) - <br/>My wine glass has a lipstick mark: got it changed but, no apology.<br/>The place could be made very attractive: some flowers pls! and a smile to patrons will do.<br/>It was our first visit: do not feel like going back : it has no ambiance but, the food was fresh. Ta

We went  to Benito's on  Saturday for dinner- The place was busy My friend had the big ribeye- really juicy and well cooked. He loved the beer battered chips too. My other friend had the chicken parma said it was the best they'd had-  I had the chilli seafood pasta - Large portions and loads of seafood- not quite enough chilli for me but thats just me- A great place to bring my friends- We have been here many times now- I believe they have special nights- Might come to one of those nights

Been there before and it was pretty ordinary. Tried again last night. Steak was inedible and house wine the worst I have tasted. When we told waitress of our dissatisfaction. Replied with a shrug of the shoulders. Definitely won't be back!<br/>

Nikki and the batchie were like bolognese and pasta sauce - you can't have pasta without the sauca!!! - mumma mia!!! What has the world come too!!

After reading the reviews I was looking forward to eating here but we where so disappointed did not enjoy anything the chef you could clearly tell was extremely sloppy going by our meals and we where the only ones in the restaurant! Will never return or recommend.

Had a wonderful time. The food was really good, dessert was to die for I had the fudge cake. The gnocchi was the best I have had so far the sweetness/nutty flavour of the burnt butter worked really well with the saltiness of the salami. Will 100% go back. Location was nice very homely and staff was good too. Pleasantly surprised.

Nothing is too hard or too much trouble! Jo puts your mind at ease and always makes time for you! The food is absolutely delicious and the portion sizes are large! In August we had our daughter's wedding.  Jo made everything stress free from start to finish.  The wedding tables and room looked beautiful. The meals were magnificent and everybody commented on the size and how delicious it was. Everyone was catered for as well as the guests that had food intolerances. The staff serving the tables did an outstanding job, clearing plates and making sure there was enough to drink.  All the guests commented on how enjoyable and comfortable they felt at Benito's.  Would highly recommend to everyone to visit them for a beautiful meal or having a special occasion.

In August we had our daughters wedding. From day 1 Jo & her staff made everything as stress free as possible. The menu was fantastic quite a few to choose from & also catered for people with special needs. The room was absolutely beautiful the service & staff especially Nicole made the night stress free, I would highly recommend Benito's to anyone from having a meal to a special occasion.

In January this year we celebrated my mother`s 70th Birthday with family and friends. We used the small function room which suited us perfectly the tables were set beautifully and the food was amazing especially the pork belly.  The service was efficient and very friendly. Our hostess Jo was very helpful from the start of organizing the party to the moment we left. She even offered to pick up the birthday cake!!<br/>The atmosphere was great with the balcony outside onto the lawns.<br/>Everyone from teenagers to the seniors had a wonderful time.<br/>I recommend the function room for all occasions.

I decided to make a day of travelling and experiencing what Mornington Peninsula has to offer. I started my trip from the Dandenong Ranges, and while driving along the Napean Highway towards Mornington, I was told by a good friend to stop at Benitos restaurant and have lunch. I was greeted straight away whilst walking into the restaurant by a very nice waitress. The atmosphere was relaxed. I sat down by a nice wood fire and decided to try the fish and chips and must I say it was a good choice. Fish was cooked perfectly, fresh and moist, chips had a special seasoning over them which gave them a nice burst of flavour and the salad was nicely dressed. I wish Benitos was closer to me in the Dandenongs, I would go there regularly. Either way I certainly will recommend it to my friends and family.

Great well kept secret! Awesome ( and massive ) steaks, quick service and well mannered staff, can't fault it really! Keep up the solid work!
Steve
The size and quality of the steaks are the best around the peninsula. Some really good plonk and huge selection of beers. Try to treat the family there as often as i can. The family that own the place are very friendly and the staff are nice as well. Been here for an engagement party which was also a great night.

Our road trip to Portsea was long. Starving we were. Thankfully we stopped at Benitos. I didn't have much of an appetite although when I saw the menu my mouth was watering. I had the Seafood Steak ( aka - Surf and Turf) Amazing- the steak was tender and the seafood was cooked perfectly. To finish it off I had an espresso martini as mum was driving the rest of the way! It feels like home warm and cozy with the fire place, and staff were attentive and warm. i would go back in a heart beat!

One of my best restaurants to fine in, Michael the waiter is not only extremely friendly...he can sing as well. I come from Templestowe to eat here, its worth the trip. I can not believe no one had put this restaurant into Urban Spoon before. Try it, you will love it.
