Review Milkbar & Co - Mt Martha

This is the best breakfast place so far in Mornington Peninsula. Great coffee, fresh press juice and the food is AMAZING! Also the service is friendly too. I will definitely recommend to my friend and family.

Another simple but good meal for lunch here today, sitting at a table under an umbrella in their outside space. Good, friendly staff. Yeah, the missed the coffee I ordered with my meal but quickly provided it when I reminded them. Have been around 4-5 times now and always enjoy it. Good job guys.

Got the chilli scrambled eggs with pancetta and mushrooms. It was delicious, enjoyed every bite!! Friendly staffs and quick service too! Definitely going back when we're around there next time. Highly recommend!

My family had breakfast today with mixed feelings. they were busy but service was not slow, the coffee was cold, they brought the wrong coffee with no apology or replacement. We were amazed that a serving of eggs only come with 1 piece of toast. They charge $1 for Vegemite, $9 for toast. So overpriced. Where is the skill in toasting bread. This is only the tip of the iceberg. We have been going for 11 years but today I have closed on Milk Bar & Co.

We had the most delicious meal!! The food is healthy, fresh and absolutely delicious!! I had an amazing omelette special - I can’t wait to come back for more!!

I must admit the vegetarian ciabatta sandwich is to die for. I'm a local, and the guys do a good brekky too. Compared to some of the cafes in Mornington, it's worth the drive just a little bit further down the road.

This place is the best! Great variety of healthy food and fantastic coffee. The menu is updated regularly with seasonal meals. The staff are fantastic and the meals are usually served quickly so it is a great option for a quick bite.

This is our daily cafe. Relaxed and friendly staff. Really good food, unfortunately not many vegan options but otherwise food is great. Coffee is also really good and location across road from beach can't be beaten. Highly recommended

Coffee was cold. Couldn’t deliver meal in over 20 minutes even though place was not busy. Had to chase waitress to get menu. Wait staff seem to have tunnel vision focusing on just the job at hand rather than attending to other patrons that are waiting.
Wendy Maynard
Food was AMAZING. Stopped in for lunch. Staff were friendly, excellent knowledge of the menu. Nothing was too much trouble. Definitely recommend

Our fave !!! Awesome coffee, fantastic food and service! Child and dog friendly which is a huge plus. Accomodating to dietary requirements and well priced for fresh, local and organic produce. Only downside is it's 25 mins from home and always busy!! 😂😂 Worth the drive. Thanks MB! 🥞🍳🥐🍒

My favourite place to stop for brunch when heading down to the Peninsula. Delicious food and great coffee 👌
Kath Coen
Great food, hospitality superb. Even though busy yesterday service and attention was plentiful. Highly recommend Milk bar & Co

Everything looks really nice but they cut too many corners with the substance. On more than one occasion I've seen regular milk added to my soy when it needed topping up. I rarely eat here but all I've heard is that servings are disproportionate to cost. There's the occasional capable waiter but most treat you like an imposition.

Brocollini breakfast is to die for! Staff are incredibly friendly too!

Favourite breakfast spot on the peninsula, always great quality and lots of options, fantastic coffee too

Outstanding. Delicious coffees and breakfast cooked to perfection.

Best place to stop for a brunch / lunch / coffee down the coast 👍👍 A+++

Beautiful delicious fresh food, great coffee and lovely staff.

Amazing staff & terrific food... we loved it and will be back 👏

Coffee was delicious, food great! Worth stopping in to on your way past

Here I was thinking the Peninsula was a wasteland for cafes but I'm eating the best breakfast I've had in an extremely long time (the chilli cauliflower). Customer service isn't a high point here but I'll overlook that.

Couple months ago my husband and I came here for lunch. Gorgeous little spot right near the beach, we sat outside too which was perfect for a sunny day!

My husband had the burger which he loved, and I had eggs on toast which the eggs were cooked perfectly.

I found the surrounding customers a concern. A young couple appeared to take one of their uneaten poached egg and wrapped it up in a napkin, I mean, I would do this with some banana bread, but a poached egg??! I found it so bizarre, I can’t get the image out of my mind! What would they even do with it??

Anyways, wonderful experience with some questionable entertainment.

Stopped here for lunch. Sat at a nice table outside. Nice little strip of shops. It was warm, I got the mango smoothie which was really good. Partner got a thick shake which he said was good. In one of those glasses that feels like it’s for kid. Meals looked very nice. I got the mortadella, mixer Ella, tomato and basil panini which was okay. Lots of greens very little meat and cheese and was nearly dripping with mayonnaise which did not go with the flavours i felt. But could be just me. My partner got the pear granola which he liked but the pear was very hard he said. Overall the food was good and service very attentive. Definitely worth a visit

Got fed up of waiting to be served after trying to order at the counter. So walked out. If you tell someone to sit down then at least take their order in the first 10 minutes. Really puts me off going back.

Beautiful location and nice service. I got the poached prawn and crab bun which was delicious! However, my only gripe is that the bun was cut in half which made it extremely hard to eat, but yummy none the less.

My friend had chilli scrambled eggs and another the charred cauliflower but were not wowed but liked it none the less.

Menus were not updated either, seemed to be a different one at the shop, online and on here ?

4.1

Now here’s something troubling. I can’t find any place in Mount Martha which is rated 4 or above on Zomato. Either the places aren’t trying enough, the critics are too tough or, most likely, it’s a bit of both. I do know it’s not good enough and something has to give.

Milkbar & Co is a 4.1 in my book. It is agreeably fitted out in the modern style. This is apparently the result of a recent renovation which has been thoughtfully and tastefully executed. The style is good but is in no sense overdone. It feels and is pleasant. It helps the mood too that good music was playing as well when we arrived.

The food was great. My beef brisket burrito was recommended by our server. This was a very sound recommendation because it’s a cracking dish. It’s a really good thoughtful brekkie brunch dish and one that’d be very at home st any of the well rated Melbourne brunch cafes. I could barely fault it. It had just the right amount of good flavoursome meat. This was accompanied by Perfect melted cheese and great black beans. The salsa was a beauty too. Finely chopped and very flavoursome as well with even some carefully chargrilled corn. Only the bed of rocket seemed a bit rough and ready and even then my judgement might be a bit harsh. I was worried the dish might be too small when it first arrived but again I was wrong as the size ended up being spot on. There was a slight understated spice to the dish which I thought was lovely. Sadly I didn’t get the chance to make enquiries about that.

This was the best of this style of dish that I’ve had for quite a while. It really was very nicely composed and beautifully made and cooked. It had me slightly in awe actually and I’d have great trouble ordering anything else if and when I come here again.

My partner had the ham cheese baguette which she enjoyed very much. She was particularly taken with the bread which were were advised came from Laurent.

Our coffees to finish were excellent too. Up there with the best.

So why is this place not rated higher? We can only speculate but we did find the service here a bit languid. We had to chase a server to put an initial order in. My dish was put down roughly in front me of dislodging some of the carefully arranged garnish. My milk in a jug with my coffee had little blacks things in it too. None of this is serious stuff. I gained an impression that there were a few details holding things back.

We will definitely come here again. If they iron a few of the little details out, this place could easily score more than 4.
Really lovely cafe! Such unique and nice flavoured dishes. Great fresh and quality ingredients used in the dishes. The cauliflower was delicious and the avocado was so fresh! There was a lot of variety to chose from. The staff were lovely and overall really nice cafe for food.

Service wasn't overly pleasant. Cutlery and glasses were dirty. I had the smashed avo dish which came with roasted chilli cauliflower, pumpkin and sesame seeds, miso mayo, edamame and kale to which I added poached eggs and bacon. The meal was very nice apart from the bacon which was pre-cooked and very dry. My wife had scrambled eggs which were as expected. We shared the granola which came with a poached saffron pear and raspberries. That was nice and beatifully decorated. Soy latte was spot on and the oj was fresh. Overall, quite enjoyable.

38 degree day and down at Mount Martha, we quickly popped in here for a pre beach feed.
The restaurant was busy, filled with summer vibes where customer service was prompt providing a quick turnover to cater to all the beach goers.

We ordered the Milkbar Breakfast & the Breakfast Bruschetta. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and thought the presentation of food made the meals more appealing. The downfall of the Breakfast Bruschetta was the price of $19.50. Despite the meal was a great combination of flavors, it can be considered on the pricey side given it was one slice of bread with boiled eggs, tomato and goats curd.

Second time I’ve tried to eat at this place when on the coast for holidays. This time with 6 friends we were seated out the back near the toilet on a scorching day. After waiting over ten minutes with no service went inside and asked two of the staff members if we could be moved inside when a table became free as it was very hot in the back with no air flow and told them we were also ready to place our drink and food orders. Waited and waited. Another person from our group went inside three more times to try and get someone out back to take our order to no avail. We decided to go elsewhere and as were walking out saw two available tables inside that would have fit us all! Terrible service with staff who ignore their customers. Never going back.

Stayed in the area and came here for breakfast, the shop got out and vibes looked pretty cool. We got there around 1 and overheard a staff member telling another customer that the kitchen was shutting at 2:30. Our food was all nice, but a little small for the price tag, coffee was great though and ingredients were quality.

Yum! Delicious, great service, great location and good value. Would come back if I’m in the area again. I had the brekky burger and the egg was perfectly cooked, the bacon was crunchy and the bun was delish. Great coffee too.
FoodieGuru_770
Friendly and professional. The staff here are lovely, polite and friendly. We had a nice sourdough toast and fruit toast and the tea and coffee were tasty and good quality. I was happy to come back a few days later. Very professional.

Came here for breakfast
Espresso was ok with sugar
Nothing to special
Very friendly staff
Food came quick
Great location
Asked for 3 eggs not sure I got it
Please fix that toilet door! Too many accidental open doors when on toilet!! 😱.

Stop on way home from MP. I do like the village! Lots of choices but picked this and enjoyed my mocha. Indoor outdoor seating. 🐕 friendly.

Been here many times - consistently good coffee and friendly service. The sausage rolls are highly recommended. Its also really nice that they have apples for sale -great cheap option if you know you shouldn't really be having more than your caffeine hit. Breakfast here is also good

Awesome food, awesome staff and beautiful coffee. Love the fit out was a perfect spot to take my cousin over the school holidays
Highly recommend 5/5

Staff were friendly and very attentive, we stopped in for a milkshake & cake, both delicious! Milkshake could have been a wee bit bigger for the price but overall pretty happy!
Food And Drink Melbourne
A very enjoyable breakfast was had at Milkbar & Co. The service is prompt and accommodating and the food is delightful and fresh. I enjoyed my broccolini, Dahl and poached eggs but the coffee is nothing special. The meal tasted fresh and was well presented. The cafe was very busy on a Sunday so arrive early or expect to wait for a table. The amount of people also meant that the noise level was quite high. Overall a delicious breakfast.

Visited Milkbar & Co for a late breakfast.
Food was delicious and well presented.
The coffee was above average. They make a fantastic tasting Chai. The service was friendly and welcoming. The only let down would be the venue itself, I felt it was lacking atmosphere.
Above all a great tasting food and good coffee, worth visiting if your are in the area.

I love this place. The coffe is one of the best in all the Mornington peninsula.... can't go wrong with that. Great service and amazing food.

Went here for brunch with a few friends as the rating was decent on Zomatos and loved it! Not your typical cafe menu but all of the meals were delicious. Definetly reccomend if your in the area.
Andrew Bartram
Great service, plenty of staff. Food was good, eggs were both overcooked, and the chilly had been applied liberally! Overall not bad, but I'd I'll explore other options nearby before coming again.

Visited the peninsula today and found this amazing little cafe in mount Martha, great menu with lots of different options to choose from! Staff very friendly and knowledgable! If only this place was closer to Melbourne

Unfortunately I didn't have a very pleasant experience dining at Milkbar & Co. Just a heads up to others, their menu is misleading. The ocean trout is raw with a raw potato salad (although no mention of the word raw), their croissants are hard and their baguettes are very salty. Staff are friendly, however make sure your waiter understands your order correctly. Wanted to love this cafe but instead my hungry partner and I left very disappointed.
Tracy-lee Rothery
Overpriced food with wilted ingredients that look like they've been sitting around for a month. 0/10 for value for money. Portion sizes are tiny. Service could also do with some improvements.
Benjamin Tang
The single most expensive French toast in history. It was tasteless and the strawberries weren't even fresh. Wouldn't have minded the price if it were in any sense of the word mediocre. The milkshakes as well lacked any form of flavor.

Very cute cafe. Absolutely love the classic milkbar detailing. Great coffee. Great location. Follow us on youtube for more reviews of food around melbourne: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCNKFqUL56TvEHcJIb3p8S1w

Loved the vibe of this place - noisy, cosy with friendly staff
Popped in for breakfast - the paleo granola pot with almond milk, rhubarb, apple and flaxseed pudding is a winner
If you are in Mt Martha get down here

What a gem. Great food, great service, great coffee. What else can one say but try it if you're down Mt Martha way. Get here earlier rather than later - you may have to wait.

Cute little cafe in Mount Martha village. Quick service and really good coffee. I ordered the Brioche French toast with candied figs & mascarpone. I only got about half a tablespoon of mascarpone and no other sauce or maple syrup so it was very dry. Really small portion wasn't really worth $17ish I paid for it.
Hello. Imnikki
With a name like Milkbar & Co, it's no surprise that there's a vintage milk bar sign hanging behind the counter and a small area dedicated to candies, jams, and foodstuff in the cafe. The beautiful weather meant that everyone was sitting outside with views of the foreshore while it remained half empty inside. Staffs were quick to greet us when we entered and although orders were taken quickly, only one barista meant quite a wait for our takeaway coffees. 4 skinny lattes and 1 regular latte later, the consensus from our group was that while the milk was velvety smooth and temperature was optimal, the coffee was not strong enough. Would we return though? Yes, the food looked scrumptious. Should have stayed for lunch and maybe another cup of coffee, extra shot of espresso most definitely required.

With so many good breakfast/bruch options here it's hard to go wrong! My personal favourite is the smashed pumpkin with halloumi... you really must try! The coffees are also great. Service can be hit & miss however and a few times our meal order has been forgotten about. Lucky the food is good! Be prepared for a wait however as tables fill fast all weekend long.

A cute cafe on the Mt Martha foreshore. We ordered a variety of teas and food. The food was great, I had the paleo granola, a great mix of nuts rhubarb and coconut. We also ordered the breakfast burger and smashed avocado, both of great quality and flavours. Tea was a bit of a let down, the flavour of the green tea was awful! Staff were also inattentive, not showing us to a table, no menus or water and taking a extremely long time to take our orders. Nice food and a great location though.
Smikg Needs Coffee
Try not to get served by anyone that looks like they have just bitten into a lemon. There are colouring pencils there for the kids, so if you’re not given any and you just can’t handle the whining anymore, call over a ‘lovely’ waiter to pass some over thank you very much. Listen to the menu descriptions too. Bacon on brioche means “lots of!” bacon. Fruit toast means “lots of!” fruit chunks. Take note...
Nibble And Wander
A very popular cafe along the beach side in Mt Martha. Busy cafe environment, staff were friendly but very hasty and not that attentive but understandable for quite a big cafe during lunch times. The menu was very healthy and light which I love. I had the pumpkin purée dish and I liked it, it has all my favourite veggies on one plate. My latte was a little burnt and a bit too milky other than that it was a decent meal with the gals.

Decided to go next door as we were put off my the smartass billboard by the front door, which said something much to the effect of "Hipsters: for when you were told you were special as a child". Really unimpressed - not funny or witty and ultimately lost you business. And before you even think it, I'm not a hipster... I just don't feel like any person should feel judged or belittled on any day, let alone on a sleepy Tuesday morning.

Amazing meals.. had roasted pumpkin poached eggs on english muffins and partner had the pork belly which was to die for.. great friendly service ! Dog friendly too😀

My partner and I came here for brunch two days in a row during our short stay in Mount Martha, which should speak for itself. We're both huge ice coffee fans and Milkbar & Co did not disappoint, though if you're after a more nutritional beverage the smoothies were also delightfully refreshing. As for the food itself, I had the french toast (highly recommended as a potential hangover cure) and the smashed pumpkin (delicious), while my partner enjoyed his crispy pork belly and avo smash. The service was slightly haphazard and it took some time on our first visit to be acknowledged and have our order taken, though I give them the benefit of the doubt due to how busy they were on both visits. All in all we will definitely return if we're down the peninsula way again.

Milkbar & Co is one of the more popular cafés at Mt Martha Village. The food was rather tasty and well priced, the coffee was also very nice. They were probably a tad understaffed, as service was a bit slow. But overall the experience was pleasant. Would eat here again.

First time visit to this littlw gem!

We were lucky enough that thwre was an ourdoor table available out the back for ua four adults, four kids and a four legged kid. Staff were highly accommodating, friendly and personable.

Our food was spectacular. Brisket tortilla was super tasty. Kids had various toasties and loves them. Smashed avo made obe of the girla very happy.

We will be back!

Favourite breakfast haunt on the peninsula. Great coffee and food. Menu is regularly changed and specials are delicious. My favourite dish is the grilled broccolini. Staff are always friendly and helpful.

As I entered I was greeted by a friendly young man who sat my girlfriend and I at a fantastic table out the front in the lovely sunshine. Dukes coffee is the my favourite coffee in the world and is sold here, which was a massive win for my partner and I! I had the smashed avocado with salmon and poached eggs which was 10/10 absolutely delicious! My girlfriend had the grilled broccolini And she loved it also!

Overall 10/10. Friendly staff, great food, excellent coffee! I'll be back for sure!
KT
Had the smashed avocado here . Was very nice . Would love to see a different gluten free bread used and a few more fructose friendly salad options available . Staff are lovely and is in a beautiful location with mt Martha right nearby

Easily one of the best breakfast and coffee combos on the peninsula. Great breakfast menu that gets updated regularly. Large serving sizes and Dukes coffee at a good price.
Cafe Review
Brilliant meals! Generous servings of the smoked salmon and beans for the sides to go on sourdough with poached eggs. The avocado on toast with beetroot hummus was also delicious!

Staff are friendly and the layout is cool and spacious with room outside if it's sunny. We had a few really good coffee's - the bonsoy and regular milk latte's where a solid 7.5/10, but the long black was a bitter.

Overall, great cafe. I'd go back!
Mel
Coffee is great however the food not so much. I ordered the smashed avocado with a poached egg and a side of mushrooms- the worst smashed avo going around. Egg was hard poached and way too many nuts (hazelnut, almond and walnuts). After loosing my appetite from a simple dish, I ordered a tomato and cheese jaffle. Filling but definitely not satisfied.
Michael Henderson
This review could go either way! On one hand the coffee was great, staff was friendly, and the overall decor had a really fun vibe.... But while the exterior of this cafe was appealing, the heart was simply bland and disappointing. I paid $18 for what I thought would be a big breakfast... All I got was 2 poorly poached eggs, on hard and dry toast, with 2 rashes of bacon... FOR $18!!! My disappointment was so severe that I will never eat there again... The only reason this review doesn't have a 0.0 is that the coffee was excellent and I would buy coffee from Milkbar and Co again... If this Cafe was to sort out their menu it would actually be a huge success, but unfortunately this is not the case

First and last time!!!!!!!. Decided to try milk bar and co for breakfast and was left feeling extremely disappointed. Before the food was even served our 8 year old son could have seriously hurt himself as the chair he was sitting on broke as the legs of the chair was missing washers!!! Now the food..... I had the scrambled eggs with toast spinach and mushrooms.. All I got was soggy toast, stewed mushrooms not browned, bland spinach and scrambled eggs were under cooked.. It totally put me off my breakfast and I refused to eat it. Won't be coming back here. I should off listened to my wife and gone to our regular haunt dee's kitchen!!!!

Locals Favorite!. Could not fault this place!.. GREAT coffee, food, staff and atmosphere!! highly recommend.

When I stepped inside it was exactly how I remember old-school milk bars with essentials on the shelves including cooking oils, flours, packets of pasta, sauces and spices. Below the counter is a kids dream with lollies, sherbets, gums and chocolates.
