Review Blue Wren Restaurant - Mudgee

My (now) husband and I had the most incredible experience on our wedding day at Blue Wren. Aside from how stunning the venue is, Sophie, Tessa and the team were amazing throughout the whole planning and execution process. Our day was absolutely perfect and the team at Blue Wren played a huge part in that success. We were lucky enough to be able to use the Farm House for the bridal party to get ready at and I must say it was just perfect, beautifully styled, clean, the beds were so comfy and we had a delicious local sourdough waiting for our arrival. They really did think of everything!!

Our recent wedding at Blue Wren was everything my husband and I had hoped for and more! We couldn't have asked for a more stunning venue, which ticked all of our boxes. The ceremony gardens, the white hall and the Farmhouse are all such incredible spaces. Plus additional accomodation on site which slept our whole bridal party, and the ability to bring in your own cateror, alcohol and styling enables you to do your wedding your own way. We've received so many compliments from our guests on how beautiful the venue was. Not only this, but Events Manager Tessa and owners Sophie and Nick are the most incredible people who will truly go above and beyond to ensure your day is everything you hope for. Thank you for giving us the best couple of days and for everything you've done for us! Blue Wren will forever be special to us and we couldn't recommend enough to couples searching for their wedding venue.

Great food, fun menu with lots of different surprises. Dessert's licorice custard and main's pork neck croquette were my highlights but loads of great elements in all courses. Great wine and service, the location is good and the car service is a great thing most places don't offer. Overall it's a very relaxed but very high quality dinner.

Great little place. Very friendly staff, and good wine. Most of the food was excellent, however an overcooked steak meant only 4 stars.

A bit of a hidden gem this one - great location with beautiful property. There are geese and chooks out front and a nice outdoor sitting area. Inside, the wine tasting isn't free, but the wines they have a quality and the setup is much nicer than any around the area. Well worth the small cover charge

Kyle and I got married at the beautiful Blue Wren in April 2021. We couldn't be happier with the staff and venue. It was the most amazing day and the venue played such a major roll in ensuring our day was perfect. This is the email we send the team after our wedding day: We would like to extend our thanks to you all for everything you did to make our day so perfect. You were all so accommodating and welcoming from the moment we arrived in Mudgee. It's a credit to you all just how spectacular the venue is; we loved every bit of it and received so many compliments from our guests about how amazing the venue was.. Thank you so much for going the extra mile to make sure our day was just how we wanted it, we loved the extra little touches you did to ensure our day was perfect. Many of the guests also commented on how lovely all the staff were, they particularly loved the way you guys interacted with everyone. We also appreciate all the little things you did in the weeks leading up to the wedding, it made our lives so much easier. We would definitely recommend anyone looking for the best venue to get married to come and see you guys at Blue Wren. You made our jobs very easy in terms of the setting up and packing up of the venue, it was so efficient and seemed to take no time at all. The farmhouse accommodation is absolutely stunning, it feels so homely and is decorated and decked out to perfection. It was the best spot for hosting our recovery breakfast and everyone commented on how wonderful they thought the house was. We couldn’t be happier with choosing Blue Wren for our wedding recently. It is a sophisticated yet relaxed venue with so many beautiful spaces and options for both ceremony and reception, fun onsite accommodation options and stunning scenery for photography. Most importantly, events manager (Tessa) and venue owners (Sophie & Nick) are wonderful, down to earth people who will ensure your wedding day comes together seamlessly!

Avoid in Covid environment! Due to Covid our wedding date had to be moved to 2022 but they thought it was appropriate to ask for more money from us due to errors of previous owners. Their actions displayed a complete disconnect and lack of understanding of the financial struggles that we, like everyone, faced during Covid. We refused and they offered us a date in between Christmas and New Years. We refused this date as we still contractually had a right to choose the date we wanted to get married on. Their plans for renovations in 2022 made our contract void but they blamed us for cancelling (which we never did) and we were forced to pull out due to the unavailability of dates. Blue Wren refused to refund us our money that we had paid up to that point, despite us saying that we were happy if they kept only the deposit. I hope Tessa (the planner) pocketed the money and not the owners as the venue were absolutely no help at all in the planning process. They completely uphold the stereotype of a money hungry wedding vendor. They were more concerned about their loss of cash flow (which everyone was experiencing - hello, Covid) than displaying integrity as a business and empathy for our situation. Thanks to them we have lost a substantial amount for a wedding that did not occur: a brutal blow for any young couple trying to start their lives together. Ever other wedding vendor refunded us everything minus the deposit. We only chose not to pursue legal action due to the emotional toll they had already placed on us. Do not work with them unless you are prepared for $$$ losses.
