Review Kampung Malay Restaurant - Mudgeeraba

Good option for Malaysian food in Mudgeeraba My husband and I had a very pleasant Friday night dinner at this well-appointed restaurant. The food was tasty, but not really authentic - it was a little too sweet for my fussy Chinese-Malaysian palate. However the chef was very good about adding extra heat to the dishes we ordered and the staff were really nice about giving us extra chillies. The service was excellent and it was quite reasonably priced.

Thank you Kampung Malay for a great night. Food was superb, service was exceptional and friendly, best Malaysian on the Gold Coast. Highly recommend the Salt & Pepper Calamari, Yum Yum Chicken and the Banana Fritters - love this place, we'll be back!

Kampung is nothing less than amazing. Food is always so delicious, and the staff are always so kind. Best place to go if you are a coeliac, they can always cater for a gluten free meal. Will be going back soon 🥰

My favourite Malaysian restaurant on the GC. Great service, yummy fresh food. Massaman is by far the best I’ve had anywhere. Prices are affordable and we never leave disappointed! Love the fact that they are family owned and run also..

We have had take away fro the Kampung Mudgeeraba fairly often. It's generally good but does vary, sadly tonight effort was awful. Was on hold for a long while, then they answered and asked me to hold again. Garlic Calamari was slightly over cooked but had no flavour. The Beef Randang was totally bland. The Kung Po chicken turned out to be sweet and sour chicken but more accurately described as chicken in a sweet and sour sauce with a few odd chunks of pineapple tossed in (and nothing else) The Roti and rice were good - bit hard to mess them up. I almost hung up whilst on hold; was googling alternatives, then they answered. I'll vote with my feet next time. All up this was akin to the "Chinese" we got in the 1970's, something that should remain in the past. A classic case of quality suffering because of popularity. OK I see you did not understand what I posted. 1) The chicken dish we were given was the wrong one - not a veg. cashew or soy in it ... you gave us sweet and sour chicken 2) Even as sweet and sour chicken it was a sauce with chicken in a tempura batter and a few chunks of pineapple ... in short a kids dish. 3) I stand by my comments entirely ... it was woeful other than the rice and roti. Rather than defend the indefensible you should be focused on why a loyal customer would be so aggrieved.

Order the Quail. Absolutely outstanding. Beef rendang was done well as was the roti - service was sharp and attentive while the food came out swiftly as you'd expect with this type of cuisine. For a low key meal with friends or family Kampung delivers.
