Review The Ming - Mundaring

We've been going to Ming regularly for over ten years now and have never been disappointed. The food is simply delicious and always fresh and appealing. Very friendly service too. Unbeatable value for money.

We went for Mother’s Day dinner and the place was heaving. People waiting outside for takeaway and pretty much every table full. It took a very long time to get our dinner but we knew that could be the case and the poor staff were run off their feet. It shows the popularity of this place as the food is always first class. Fresh, delicious meals every time. I hope not too many people post negative things about the wait. With Covid, lack of staff is a problem for most hospitality places. Either way, we will be back.

It was our families 1st visit to The Ming Restaurant from Chidlow, friendly staff who will adjust a meal to your preferences the food came out promptly & was absolutely fantastic cooked to perfection & tasty. I'd highly recommend you visit the restaurant for some delicious Cantonese cuisine if you love your Chinese flavours.

Great food. Just add 10 minutes to the pickup time if ordering take out to avoid having to wait too long.

Amazing restaurant. One of the best Chinese restaurants in Perth. If you haven't been here you must visit it at least once.

Definitely not the best Honey Prawns... More like honey batter with a tiny prawn inside. Very expensive & disappointing !

Absolutely amazing! Could not fault this restaurant at all. Perfect service. I can't eat gluten and they made everything we ate, gluten free. So accommodating. Fast and delicious. Would 100% recommend!

Absolutely terrible service for Mother's Day, placed a 3 dish order at 6.30pm told 50 minutes to pick up and my poor husband is still not home with the food. 8.40pm

I know as a vegetarian you can’t expect much at a westernised Chinese restaurant, but i kind of expect the spring rolls that are under vegetarian options to not have meat in them... they had meat in them. Other than that it’s just basic Chinese food, nothing amazing.

Good Chinese food. Nothing special just what Australians expect from a Chinese restaurant but its fresh and tasty. I come here to enjoy the staples of cashew chicken, satay and black bean.

Always friendly local girls waiting on visitors - this business clearly supports local and gives young people a start.

Another meal enjoyed in this delightful venue means we can't wait to eat here again.
Stylish surrounds, prompt and smiling service and a fine local wine chosen from the small but well-balanced wine list added to the pleasure provided by the delicious, authentic dishes expertly cooked by the resident chef.

This has to be the worst and I mean WORST 'Chinese' I have ever had. Completely tasteless and overpriced. I really hope that more people will discover that what started as a quality Hong Kong style restaurant in the 90s, has become far, far less than you would get at any shopping centre foodhall.

This is the second time that we have been to The Ming restaurant .
The service is very good the food is excellent .The whole restaurant is above average .
I know it is licensed & also BYO But $8 a bottle corkage free is a bit high ,When most place are between $2-$5 dollars

The Ming has always treated us well. Lovely smiling service and hot, fresh dishes.
Come here for the Szechuan Beef aka Candied Beef.
We had all the usual suspects, lemon chicken, sweet and sour pork etc.
Why would you order takeaway Chinese when it is so much better served to your table?
Such fresh, clean, quality dishes.
Reasonably priced. Great food.
Will be back.

We love Ming Chinese Restaurant in Mundaring. Family owned and run by a local family. Beautiful food cooked by the Dad. We get take away often and go on special occasions. Staff are friendly and kind locals . . . Food is excellent and well priced. Love waiting for our takeaway seeing friends and staying warm. Thanks Ming. The Carter family.

I made a mistake tonight, I ordered take away from the Ming Chinese restaurant, and after waiting almost 2 hours the last time a few weeks ago, I asked them how long it would be before I could pick it up, I was told 20 minutes, and I asked are you sure it wont be any longer, I told them of my last experience, and I was ensured it wont be any longer than 20 minutes.
I arrived there at the time my take away order should be ready, but no it was not , I was told it will be ready in 5 minutes.
15 minutes later my order was ready.
Why not tell customers the correct time their order will be ready for pick up, so they won't have a waiting room full of unhappy customers sitting there waiting for their order.
IT IS A QUICK WAY FOR LOOSING CUSTOMERS.
Without customers they wont have a business.
I wont be going back there again. and I will tell my friends, family and any one that will listen to me about my experience at The Ming Restaurant in Mundaring.

Garden view?. Have been to the Ming several times over the years and the food is ok but I'm still waiting for the 'garden' outside table number 6 to be improved to a 'viewable' standard.
Mandy

Emergency take away only. When the Ming opened it was brilliant, with an experienced Chinese family with a long history in the business. Unfortunately after a year or so they sold it to the current owner who has driven the quality down relentlessly. Dine in is noisy when busy (rare these days) as the acoustics are dreadful. Service is so slow it would be comical if it wasn't so frustrating. The staff are all high school students making a bit of pocket money on the side with no training or knowledge of Chinese food. A quick meal will take you a couple of hours. If you are starving and nothing else is open then a take away is the best option.

Good food, thats it. The food here is seriously yummy, really good quality cantonese food but that's pretty much it....
It is always really quiet so awkward to sit down, dine in prices are also about double take away prices for a similar serving size.
Would recommend takeaway as you can take it home and enjoy without a huge price tag.
Favourites would be steamed dim sims, satays are yummy as is sweet & sour pork.

We tried the Ming on a Saturday night (not very busy-bad omen!?) We had the spring rolls and dim sums for starter which were ok and the duck for main to share between 2. The pancakes were thick and soggy (the worst that I have had with duck) but the actual duck courses were pretty tasty. We had the coconut dessert and the mango dessert both of which were not very nice-think they should just play safe and only offer ice cream for dessert as generally I find that desserts in Chinese restaurants are always a let down! The service was quick but there wasn't much ambience-bright lights and decor nothing special. We had a beer for my husband and a glass of wine for me and both of us have woken up with massive headaches this morning-we suspect related to MSG as we both feel pretty awful. honest opinion we won't be going there again just because we don't want another headache like this again but if you just want a quick takeaway it would probably be ok.

Great :) The food was great.... Great :)
The food was great, was well worth it.

And guys please stop complaining about how long the food takes to cook, you should be happy that it isn't cooked a week before and put in the freezer.

Good night. Went recently with large group. Not all meals came at the same time but we ordered in little groups and it was explained to us in advance. Service not outstanding but food was really great.

This is the worst dinner i could ever image. My husband and I went their with our friends on a double date. We waited for 30 mins just to have 4 spring rolls. 45 mins more for our main course. The food is not even high quality and the prize is terribly expensive. On top of it, the female owner ridiculously tried hooking her daughter up with my husband when I was in the toilet. I would love to never come back to this terrible place ever again in my life

Disaster. Wow what a wreck! My group of three went to the Ming Restaurant for Mother's day. We ordered prawn crackers which came out in okay time, along with water and hot towels for our entree. By the time the entree came the towels were beyond cold. After more waiting a waitress brought out a complimentary plate of prawn crackers and apologised for the wait.
The satay and rice main meal was good when it came, however we ordered sweet and sour pork which was a no show and we ended up cancelling. What looked like the owner made an appearance and just laughed and said "yes we're busy sorry." No chance for dessert, time to leave!
Waitresses were running around everywhere with no attention being placed at the reception. I felt sorry for the take-away people, one lady was waiting 2 hours and they still hadnt cooked all her food.
Expensive food, terrible service.

Appalling Service. We were there for dinner last night for Mother's Day and arrived at 6.30. It took 45 minutes for spring rolls to come out and then for the party of 12 they came in three batches over 40 minutes. Our mains came out in dribs and drabs and we never got the last dish until 9.15. Totally appalling service with the owner telling us that she had to do the take aways first.
I am absolutely over bad service and bad manners when you are paying top dollar for food. We should have walked out. Whilst the food was tasty it was way too late, as in time and patience, to enjoy it. Of course no deduction in price for anything and by that stage I was over it. Take a stand Perth and do something about this.

A little disappointing.... Heading home after having coffee with a friend, i decided to stop by The Ming to get some takeaway. Was disappointed with what we ordered. Tried the satay beef, found it to be very soupy with heaps of sauce and just lacking in that taste. I've had much better from others in the area. Also tried the garlic prawns, i thought the sauce was good enough, but found the prawns to be really quite 'plastic' in texture, and the prawns themself were tasteless. tasted like cheap imported seafood. both dishes not up to scratch for $15 and $18 respectively. The other dish we tried were the spare ribs, my partners fave dish, they were quite fatty and the sauce wasn't pleasant. it was thick and gooey and personally found them to have way too much sauce on the pieces. Probably won't be back, will stick to the others we like.

Poor. Prices are very expensive for the standard of the food served. If you like sweet acidic sauces that all taste alike go to the Ming if you like varation in taste and quality go somewhere else. Not impressed.

Love the food here - always consistent in quality and freshness. Really like the lemon chicken and satay beef.

Great food. Been coming here since it opened. Food is always of a consistent good quality. Dishes that shine here are the seafood seawed rolls, ming fried rice, satay beef (outstanding), honey pepper fillet steak, and the honey king prawns.
Rod
Great food. The Ming makes the best chilli beef you can get, staff are great and you never have to wait to long for service.
