Review Murdunna Roadhouse - Murdunna

I know it looks like just another petrol station but I've always stopped here for the oysters while in the area. It's good to see the renovations and upgrade work since the last time I was here a few years ago. Oysters are freshly shuckled and they taste so nice. Prices are much cheaper than in the CBD as before. The oysters are big and fresh and there's a few picnic tables out the front to enjoy them straight away. The staff are always friendly.

Not the best chips I ever had but the ice cream is the best

2 complaints, firstly the takeaway food, always overcooked, dried up, yesterday I bought what I was told was a cheese and bacon potato cakes. I couldn't tell what I was eating, it was greasy, dried up on one side and didn't taste of anything but oil. I was on the way back to Hobart and couldn't be bothered to go back otherwise I would have returned it. My son got 5 potato cakes and 1 was completely inedible and at $1 each I'd expect better. And the girls who work behind the counter have the personality of a pair of guide posts. You could have a thriving, popular business if you get some happier people working there and a cook who can cook food without killing it.

Unlike some deli from supermarkets with precooked food, the fish and chips are freshly cooked after you order here. And the serve is very generous. I would prefer the fish/seafood lighter battered but honestly it exceeds my expectations for super market/general store food already.

Great little roadhouse with a good variety of food items. Hot food is great and there are ice creams.

Fantastic service! Recently my car wouldn't start and I went into the Murdunna Roadhouse to borrow jumper leads. The staff lent me a set and drove to help me start my car. Later that day I went to 2 locations on the Peninsula to purchase a new car battery. Both locations did not have the battery I needed. I called the Murdunna Roadhouse and not only did they have in stock the exact battery my car needed, they even helped put in the battery. I could not recommend the service any higher. They always have cheap petrol prices and are very friendly!
