Review The Austral Cafe And Bakery - Murwillumbah

Highly recommend, just stopped in Murwillumbah for the night after a long trip and this was truly the icing on the cake! 5 stars, for customer service, how quickly the food came out (we ordered big portions), the venue itself is a super cute retro cafe, it is very affordable for what you get and it tastes amazing!!

A blast from the past. Retro look. Just finished a milkshake followed by a hamburger with the works. If anyone or any sign says they serve the best milkshake or hamburger, they are lying. This is the best place by a country mile.

A bit of an institution in the town apparently. Established in 1919 the building had a lot of history with interesting booth seating, nice nice food, nice milkshakes, quick service which is all you can ask from a quick pitstop. Thanks very much.

This is a nice Cafe. Food sizes are good, cakes an treats are massive in the windows. There is no pressure to move you along as there is quite a lot of seating inside. Recommended for sure.

Great spot for lunch and reminiscing the past. Lovely chat with the owner after lunch about the history of the building and town.

Had lunch here today...food was epic, milkshakes glorious and HUGE. Service from two young ladies was appalling. Rude, snippy and unprovoked. I sat near the counter and heard how these girls spoke to customers when picking up takeaways and taking orders and was horrified at how they responded to questions. All the staff looked frazzled and under the pump but those customers did deserve that. Shame really, would be a great place otherwise.

Such a cheerful lady making coffee when I came through. This place has been around for ever, maybe longer. Don't expect fancy decor, but do come in and enjoy.

I like this place. The menu is full of great options (although it might be a sign of freezing too much food) and the prices are very reasonable. The place is clean and the staff are kind. The decor is a bit weird honestly. The whole Blue and Yellow thing is weird.
