Great place to try Malaysian Cuisine. It was my first time eating out here with my relatives since I arrived in Perth. I really enjoyed the Chicken Wat Tan Hor which is flat noodles and egg chicken gravy soup.
I’ve been to this restaurant a number of times and have ordered their famous Ipoh hor fun each time. Decided to try something different this time. Both the char kuey teow and mee mamak were delicious. Definitely a go-to place to satisfy those Malaysian food cravings.
So far from where I live yet so close to heart. I love their chicken! Soooo good and also their fried horfun. Add a bit of cut chili and guaranteed you just want to dig in straight away, forget about instagramming your food lol
I've only eaten here twice, so I haven't really gotten a great idea of this shop. But, the char kuay teow is very good and the sambal is also decent. The bean sprouts are worth a try, but Pappa Rich probably has the best bean sprouts with salty fish around here.
There aren’t many places in Perth doing good Ipoh food. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting this quiet town when I visited Malaysia, and the food here hits the mark. Sure you can’t get the same flavours, but that’s probably asking a bit much. Char kuey teow, fried beehoon, inchi kabin, ipoh dry hor fun, wat tan hor are probably our favourites. Hell, even the beansprouts with salted fish is very nice. Good eats!
Can’t miss out on their famous ipoh hor fun! Love the noodles and chicken. Simple dish but such great punch of flavour in one bowl. Every time when I’m there i have always ordered their chrysanthemum tea. And their fried 🍗 chicken nibbles (rather big nibbles) are always a nice plate to share if you have more people. Surprisingly their sticky date pudding apparently are one of the best ones in Perth.
Simple, yet good and reasonably priced food. Favourite dishes- Beef Rendang Fried Mee Hoon, Ichikabin (fried chicken) and Dry Ipoh Hor Fun. Love the garlic tastes that comes through the Fried Mee Hoon.
Char Kueh Teow tastes good, but can be better if the 'char' taste is more prominent.
For drinks, if you want something light and different, opt for their homemade herbal tea.
This is our favourite place for local Malysian hawker food. We come here almost once every week. Our favourite dishes are their tasty Laksa and awesome Beef Rendang Fried Meehoon! Good, efficient no-fuss service. Will continue coming here and bringing our friends along too.
Inchikabin chicken really tasty, the char kuay teow is really good too. Love to eat here. My friend loves the hor fun here too! Prices are reasonable, good portions. Friendly staff.
big fan of the food here in ipoh garden restaurant. been coming for years, dating back to the applecross days. no fuss/gimmicks here, just good food, good service. eating here reminds me of home, love the fried kway teow, the fried chicken and the ipoh hor fun. good eats. 😏
Probably the best Malaysian wat tan hor in Perth so far.. food has increased in price but it is still reasonable for such a decent portion :) enjoyed my food there!
Been coming here for years and nearly always get the same order hehe 🍜 Mamak noodles 👌🏻🔥 Tried the nasi lemak and grandmas tea. Both good ! 💯
Great place that everyone needs to try. A number of delicious dishes, but I can't go past the mamak noodles and beef rendang. Recommend to everyone.
Small hidden gem in Myaree. One of my favorite restaurant whenever craving some Malaysian's food.

+ : Felling satisfied and food are taste good with the price around $50 for 4 people (Fried chicken, char kaw teow, fried rice, their home-made herbal tea and sticky date pudding). Love their dessert, homemade durian ice-cream and sticky date pudding.
+ : long trading hours and the best part is they open during public holiday.
+ : they used to "cash only" but they have accepted credit / debit card since last year. (just want to point this out since the old review mention about this)
0 : there's a lot carpark outside but hard to find car park during weekdays (working days + lunch hour).
0 : short handed staff when busy but they are friendly and helpful.
- : Abit noisy when there's huge group or whenever there's lots customer. Wish they have something to reduce the echo.
Found this simple homemade Asian restaurant in Myaree. The place is decent, simple but spacious and clean with plenty of sitting catering for different size/groups of customers. There are also lots of parking along the complex area with Asian grocery and Utopia just next door in case you want to do groceries or dessert afterwards.
Ipoh may not offer as many variety in their menu, but for the ones they do they make sure it is unique compared to what you might expect from a typical Asian restaurant. For the main meal, we ordered the fried chicken (ichikabam or something), ipoh special beansprout, and hor-fun (wet noodle-kweytiaou) which came in surprisingly big portion easily filling 3 people for only $18 pp. It is a bit surprising as not many Asian restaurant offer such a portion. Both beansprout and hor-fun are decent. I find the chicken rather bland though. They have sauce for the chicken but somehow I find the sauce contained too much vinegar (too sour for my taste). I ended up mixing it with the sauce from the beansprout which turned out to be not too bad.
Ipoh also offer cold homemade chrysanthemum tea which comes in big bottle (usually used for tap water) which is very nice and easily complemented the whole homemade simple but filling Asian dinner experience.
Great local spot for homestyle hawker food. Usually order the rendang, fried chicken and the Ipoh hor fun soup, which is a great dish to have in winter. The wat tan hor fun is also very good. Well priced but it's cash only.
Hawker style food and setting with good flavours and equally good price point. Will drop off here from the gym for a well deserved ipoh hor fun or char keuy teow. Look forward to trying more dishes.
Amazingly Delicious! Prompt service! The Char Kway Teow is not only full of flavour and ingredients, serving size is ample and so are the other meals. Never a bad experience. Other notable mentions - Inchi Kabin Chicken, Mamak Noodles and Laksa.
Still consider this one of the better Ipoh style hawker restaurants. Their standard hasn't changed over the many years of operation. I like their home made cold herbal tea, but they really should supply complimentary tap water. Their Fried Meehoon is one of the better ones in Perth - they use thin rice noodles, alot of garlic and actually fry the noodles sufficiently, a little on the oily side though. The Dry Ipoh Horfun tastes authentic to me, the noodles aren't overcooked and soup sauce has plenty of flavour.
I had the fried hor fun and Ipoh hor fun soup and really like both. The herbal tea is good as well. Pricing wise seems to be in the higher side. Char Kuay Teow has wok hei and not too bad either but not superb. Will go back for more hor fun.
My fave restaurant for Mamak noodles. If you love spicy food, order the spicy mamak noodles. But if you don't, do not dare :). Love their mamak noodles and Inchikabin (their famous fried chicken) and on the top of it, superb service. The lady is no nice and friendly. The only down side is it's a cash only restaurant.
3.5 rating
I do like this place and come here often, especially for their Ipoh hor fun and inchikabin fried chicken which I think is quite authentic. Curry laksa is more the broth type (not thick and too creamy) which I prefer but isn't the best curry laksa I have ever had.
Many friends enjoy the mee goreng mamak too. I think the durian ice cream is also a treat for those who don't feel full after a meal here (rarely!). The boiled and chilled herbal tea is awesome especially on a hot summer day.
I could have rated it more but it irritates me that they refuse to serve tap water and they take cash only. other than that, service is good every time though food can be slow when busy.
Will always return though.
Best laksa! :) and my bf loves the ipoh hor fun.. Everything tasted great and service is good. The owners are really friendly and accommodating.. The inchikabin chiken is unique and tasty too :) great choice for lunch or dinner. Just wish they take eftpos though..
Too busy trying other restaurants, I hadn't been to Ipoh Garden Restaurant for a while. This time we had the usuals: (Spicy) Mamak Noodle and
Sambal Fish "Sedap". Mamak Noodle was spicy as what I requested, really nice. Sambal Fish was also yummy, it's got deep flavour. The only thing I don't like from this restaurant is the oily smell sticking on ur clothes even though they cooked inside. They really need to do something to fix it.
The Ipoh horfun is the best. Always go there for it. Fresh noodles and great taste the soup.
For $10.90 is good for food around that area. Ipoh soup has the distinct prawn oil and is "made fresh"
The rendang also hits the spot and the inchikabin chicken authentic and very satisfying.
I've been coming to this Place for years and at one point even worked here before they moved to the current location. I gotta admit for me to have worked here and still coming here to eat means they are pretty good. I did stop coming for a while due to bad service (charged me corkage for bubble tea!!! And plain bad attitude) but since they changed owner gotta say the service improved. Always ordered the mamak noodle and inchikabin although the inchikabin price keep going up. And this time I ordered something new. The beef rendang fried meehoon. Not a big fan. I'll stick to the usual next time.
This is one of the places that I would come here from time to time. The food is always good as I have tried majority of the dishes here. I can rarely fault this place as its mostly positive feedback. The service here is pretty good as we can always get a seating no matter how busy it is.
I discovered this restaurant fairly recently and I have already visited twice this month. I am one for trying out new dishes whenever I eat out but I ordered the same dish both times because it was so darn amazing. I ordered a simple beef fried rice and asked them to make it extra spicy. Not only was it the best beef fried rice I have ever had in Perth but they also gave me exactly what I asked for. The spice level was bang on for my taste. Although the fried rice was a bit pricey for something with common ingredients, they made up for it with a generous portion size. All in all, this is definitely one restaurant that I will be visiting regularly .
A place I would go from time to time. And on a winter night, perfect ! Hot Ipoh hor fun soup and nice herbal tea. Yummy! And the crispy deep fried chicken pieces - was very enjoyable.
The restaurant was not that busy tonight so maybe that accounts to the chicken being well and nicely deep fried. Had experience under cooked chicken during busy weekends before.
Tonight was very enjoyable ! Be reminded cash only payment mode. So avoid situations whereby you are not able to pay by card.
The aunty at Ipoh was always so friendly and provided us with good service. Ipoh has a good price point. The atmosphere was quite good too since the place always clean most of the time, even when the place got busy. Recommended dishes are Inchikabin chicken with special sauce, curry laksa and dry Ipoh hor fun. Also don't forget to order your food with grandma home made tea!
Ps: cash only!
Lovely meal. Great service. We were suprised there was no card facilities and only just had enough cash to pay for the meal. My only suggestion is to get an eft machine. Food really was great.
Always here for the penang fried koay teow. Been meaning to try other stuff on the menu but keep getting drawn back to the same dish. Tried inchikabin once, it was alright.
Nice food, but service can be improved. Likes: The food is tasty and good sized
Dislikes: Service can improve abit (Esp the grumpy faced daughter), charges for extra chilli, no free tap water (isn't it a regulation that all restaurants MUST have the option of free tap water??)
Other than that, good local place to have noodles.

Fresh Delicious Quick Food. Ipoh has the most delicious dishes. I couldn't give you a favourite because the are all good & always consitantly good. We have been visiting this restaurant since it opened.
The service is ALWAYS prompt & polite & efficient too.
You won't be disappointed as long as you love authentic Asian food cooked to perfection that is!
Well done Ipoh :)
This place is a constant. Love this place. Its great that the food is so predictable and pretty authentic too. My reason for this post is that i have to say PLEASE GET A CREDIT CARD FACILITY! How much feedback can they get on this and completely ignore it! Its really unacceptable in 2015 to run a restaurant and not have a credit card option. Otherwise love the noodles.

Seriously, its nearly 2015... get an eftpos machine!. I like the food here but its insulting that these restaurants make you pay in cash. Because of this I'm inclined to go to other restaurants. The irony also is that we went there on 2 occasions where there were no more than 3 other tables of people. The restaurants on either side were packed. How much does it cost you to get an eftpos machine?? Something tells me the return on investment is worthwhile. Stop insulting your customers and get with the times!
Fried mee hoon and mee goreng mamak are my favorite dishes here. Both have good texture not soggy or undercooked. I usually dont expect good customer service when it comes to cheap eats coz you only pay for the food and it has to be yum.
Egg sauce!. The best wat tan hor in Perth! Smooth, eggy and garlicky sauce, huge serving. I always get the fish one.
Mamak noodles and the preserved vegetable and fish soup noodle is AMAZING.
If only I didn't live so far away!
Don't know what's happening with other patrons but I always get excellent service here - prices are a bit borderline high for the place that it is but I always get consistently awesome Malaysian food. Have the inchikabin (juicy fried chicken) - you'll never turn back. Sorry to the guy who keeps getting the runs, and I have a very sensitive tummy but that has never happened to me and I've been there countless times now!
Still decent, but some dishes not the best. Was debating whether to like or dislike this...
Have been here at least two dozen times now. Used to always get the chicken curry, but then they changed the recipe and now I don't get it. The beef rendang is decent, I mean it's not the best but it's not as bad as I've had. Chicken rice is decent, could be tastier, while the hor fun was a bit tasteless. The best dish is probably the curry laksa, which is tasty and rich, as it should be, and the prawns are actually quite good.
Service is well - rather typical for a lot of Asian places, but nothing too much to complain about. Food usually comes quickly, at least, and the place is often quite busy. Feels more like a big kitchen than a restaurant.
Only been there once but will keep going in the future, the first time I went there was the end last month, had a stir fry beef hoon fun and cha kheu tiao, fried chicken 。
Hoon fun was a little bit spicy for someone whom don't eat chilli but tasty and kheu tiao was little oily but still good with more veges than hoon fun,af last, the fried chicken was juicy and tenderness bite。
With all these three, the portion were perfectly not too small nor too full for adults
We accidentally ordered the most expensive thing on the menu (sambal fish, $19.50) and loved it. The fish was crispy yet tender, and the sauce an "authentic" sambal with shrimp paste overtones. Oh, yum! The serve was huuuuge, justifying its price, and more than enough for 2 ppl.
Not knowing the size of the fish, we also ordered the "hot" chicken curry. It was OK but underwhelming in comparison to the fish. Maybe we should have specified hot because it was very "child friendly"
We'll be back to check out the huge range of noodles :) They looked great and were popular with other diners.
Service was very, very quick and typical of a suburban Asian restaurant (take that as you will!). Not a restaurant for a romantic dinner, but recommended for families and friends.
Hey Luigi???. We're not fancy - but we're cheap!!! Sums up this place. Food OK, service friendly from the youngest son(12 years old) through to the mother. When we inquired about peanut oil and peanuts due to son number twos anaphalaxis - they were very accomodating. Food arrived promptly, $60 something for a family of 5. Not bad for a sunday night 'what are we having for dinner?' at 7pm night out.
Love the mamak noodles. Everyone was right. The service was poor. But recently they have improved the service. Good for them n hopefully they will keep it up
A friend introduced me to this little place and I fell in love with the Ipoh hor fun!! Just thinking of the Ipoh horfun makes me drool!!!
It's a small restaurant run by a family...their food is always fresh and we always enjoy our meal th'ere!!! We love the fried chicken too (its got a real long name- ichi-somethin)Cheers Aunty!
Nice Food, Not so nice service. Char kwetiau & ichikabin (deep fried chicken) are two of my all time fave food here.
The service is not so nice sometimes especially the lady at the counter..
A favourite of ours! Close by and value for money. Love their chicken rice and mamak noodles extra hot!
Stir Fry Bee Hoon. Very Nice
