Been here a few times for special occasions. It’s pricy but the food is excellent, service is fairly good, and the nachos...OH THE NACHOS! So amazing!

Have been here more times than I can count and food is always perfect. Heaps of flavour and quick to get to the table. Service here is always brilliant too. Would highly recommend booking though as it's normally very busy.
This place gets busy so make sure you book!
Was a bit annoyed that we were told only 1 table for 2 was left and it was against the wall at the toilets when another table was empty the whole time.
Food was pretty good for tex mex. we shared large nachos and the fajitas.
I wish the fajitas had a bit more flavour but overall a decent meal
Enjoyed the food and atmosphere! Had amazing service, friendly staff. Food came out fast. Only found the Mexican punch a bit disappointing, but didn't mind because it was so cheap - tasted like cordial. The brownie was to die for "death by chocolate" 👌🏽

First time to Mexican Cantina via recommendation from friends who frequently dine here and i must say we enjoyed everything.
We rang ahead to book for a Saturday night as we were told they get quite busy. We arrived around 6.15 as our booking was at 6.30 and were greeted by staff and seated promptly. We ordered a couple of Margaritas and nachos (wow nachos were delish) margaritas were nice with just enough tequila!!
We didn't know what to order for main so we went with the recommendation of the waitress who said the fajitas were one of there most popular dishes!!
We enjoyed the fajitas my partner said it was one of the best fajitas she had eaten!!
Overall we enjoyed everything about this restaurant from service to food!
Very nice and very quick service. sat down at 7 and our meals came at 7:15! Had the fajita salad and thoroughly enjoyed it .portions are very big and the cantina has a friendly vibe to it. will defiantly be revisiting

We were greeted by the most magnificent smell as we walked through the door here. The sizzling sounds emanating from the kitchen together with friendly voices and happy smiles from the staff was a complete breath of fresh air. The exposed brick walls through the premises, clever decorated with sombreros, weaves, flags and multitudes of other classic Mexican items was very welcoming.
Again I will mention the smells and aromas; to a hungry person who particularly loves Mexican food, this is just perfect. We were literally salivating whilst reading the menu.
We met the owner, who was warm and friendly and had a great sense of humour. The waitresses were attentive, efficient and friendly.
We ordered beef and chicken taquitos for an entree, they were served quickly and they were hot. A generous size and really tasty. Served on a bed of shredded lettuce and salsa sauce on top.
For mains we had the burrito ranchero and the Colorado. Omg, the beef melted in your mouth and was unbelievably moreish. Definitely one to try.
We finished off with a Death by Chocolate for a dessert. Cannot fault it at all. The brownie was warm, the mousse was delicious and the ice cream was lovely.
All in all a perfect experience for us. We will be back for sure.
This is our go-to when we are craving mexican food. The beef tacos are amazing, especially with some extra chilli powder. I would also recommend giving the taquitos a shot.
We went for dinner here on a Saturday night and they were flat out busy. We were given a table almost immediately though.
We ordered the chicken skins (A+, highly recommend!), la combination, beef fajitas, pollo burrito, and the enchilada de pollo.
They were all really good! Could do with a little bit more flavour, the meat can sometimes be bland but still nice.
Recommend the lemon margarita, so so good!
Food is delicious. I live about 20 minutes away so I don't get to dine in often - but when I do, I enjoy it immensely. Love the extra large cocktails!
We have been eating here for years. Eating in is a far better experience than eating takeaway with the same menu items. Love that they have plenty of gluten free options and think nothing of helping you out with this. Lots of variety. Fairly reasonably priced. We are never disappointed!
Very happy with the food and service. Came here with my parents and we were so full by the end of it. They have never had mexican food before and they absolutely loved this place. The restaurant had good ambiance, very busy but we never felt ignored. I took half a point away because we had a booking for 1.5 hours only and there was a bit of a wait between entree and main. Having said that, we never felt rushed and had a great time. We ordered:
* Beef tostadas - beef a little bit cold, but flavoursome
* chicken potato skins - oh my god!!!
* nachos - tasty, generous size, salsa was delicious
* burrito Del Mar - plate was wiped clean
* burrito ranchero - the chilli con carne was so tasty, frijoles was great but the rice wasn't dry enough and had a burnt/smoky flavour
* Colorado - man, the beef just melted in my mouth...

I've never been fond of Mexican food until eating here. My parents travel all the way from the western suburbs to dine here. Food is fantastic. Service is good.
My partner and I love this place. It's our number one choice for a celebration night like a birthday. We rave about this place to all our friends. Fantastic flavours, and reasonably priced for the quantity and quality that you get. By far the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to.
Great meal but staff rushed us all the way through. Booked a table, wasn't ready when we got there. Rushed drinks, orders, bill! Food and drinks almost slammed down by blonde waitress.
Can't beat it, go there every chance I get, food is great although some of the new waitress need to learn what a tequila slammer is but all in all highly recommended
My husband and I have been loyal customers ever since we moved to south-eastern Victoria.
Meal portion is decent-sized. We don't tend to order entrees as we wouldn't be able to finish our main meals later. Love their Tuesday promo and you get cheaper main meals (which are very affordable to begin with). Love everything they offer, and my personal favourite is Burrito del mar. You can select different levels of heat when you order, but when you order medium heat or the hottest, they tend to just put more chilli salt on top, yes you get the heat, but I don't like the extra saltiness. However mild or low heat is great.
The margaritas are cheap but very nice, I always order one or two with meal.
Staff are great and very accommodating for family with kids.
I wish they open for lunch as well so that I could go more often :)

Not authentic but tasty Mexican. Having lived less than 2 hours from Mexico (SoCal) for 10 years and spending lots of time there I can safety say this isn't authentic but cute atmosphere and great service. Lacked the seasonings and spices I was hoping for but what can I say, it's Australia. If your going on a weekend night book a table first! Margaritas aren't very strong but delectable. Yummy nachos too

I cliked I like it but really I love it!. It's hard to find a good restaurant, even harder to find a great Mexican restaurant until you discover Mexican Cantina in NWS. Friends and family I have dined with many times over the last three years and I have been impressed each time we shared lots of laughs and a great food. Lately I have been going in on a regular basis as my partner and I have had many extra commitments and arriving home late to organise dinner at home. We love the staff there especially Milica, Renata, Aret and Natalie. I believe Aret is the owner and his crew of delightful staff exude an enthusiasm in the service and experience they offer with their joyful attitude and longevity as they have all been a team since I first visited back in August of 2010. I always thank them all when we have finished eating and I have mentioned that I would write a review after enjoying our night. Though it's taken me a while I want to let everyone I can know that this is a great restaurant with great staff and food. I have tried different meals from my usual Mexican favourite and they have all been lovely. Highly recommended if you love great Mexican flavours with brilliant service.
I have been to the Mexican Cantina a few times as recommended by friends. Each time I've been, I like it even more. Firstly, the service is great, the wait staff are always happy and really engage with me as a customer, thumbs up. Secondly, the food is lovely, especially the fajitas and death by chocolate for dessert. The presentation of the fajitas is always good to see. The whole restaurant has a great atmosphere making you not want to leave! On the weekend it can get busy so I agree it would be better to book before hand. See you soon!
Great little gem in the back of no where has great service and awesome food would highly recommend!! Does get noisy on the weekends and u do need to book but always have a great night out with friends. When dining try the fajitas and nachos great value and taste great!!!
Been coming here since i was born that was in 2000 my parents had been coming here since they we in dandy so its a good 20-25 year my family have been coming here. Food has always been amazing its always had a lovely touch and foods a very talked about thing in this restaurant due to the quietly and taste of the food. its a unique recipe you will never be able to get a meal like this else where foods always nice, every Friday you will see us here with friends and family and only ever had one bad meal due to a trainee cook but the owner arat, and his farther have kept the restaurant in shape and nothing ever had gone wrong overall is a really good place and foods amazing

Going to go back ASAP!. Tonight was the second time I went to Mexican Cantina and I am going to go back 100%. I ordered the nachos with chicken for entree and loved every bit of it. The guacamole was so good, I had to get an extra bowl. For the main meal, I ordered spicy chicken fajitas. The fajitas were just the right amount of spicy. I loved it and so did my husband. The margaritas were world class. Finally, the staff were all friendly and welcoming. Keep up the good work!!! 10/10

Fantastic customer service, delicious food and a terrific dining experience. An excellent experience for families, couples and even teens! If you want to go out to eat and endure a laid back, cheap and friendly resturaunt, I reccomend this place for you!
Will be back. Ran into this place by accident a fortnight ago. It was my first time trying Mexican and man I was impressed!! Every dish was superb. Highly recommend to those who love food with very strong and distinctive flavors! Definitely will be back!
Great local restaurant always fresh been going there over 10years have always had a good experience love there nachos and burritos but they do the best frozen margaritas in town with lots of awsome flavours. Kudos Cantina keep up the great work we will always be back :)

Mexican Fiesta. Went to Mexican cantina for my friends 30th Birthday. From the first moment we entered we were greeted by friendly staff who made us feel welcome. The evening started with some authentic Mexican cocktails (margaritas on the rocks with salt) and some guacamole dip and nachos. Next we had the option of burritos, fajitas and enchiladas which tasted authentic. As the night progressed we asked our waitress to recommend some other cocktails she offered us frozen watermelon and lychee margaritas we said why not and were not disappointed. All in all had a great night and will defiantly be back.
Went here last night and cant believe that I hadn't seen this place bbefore! Food was full flavored and so generously portioned! Service was quick and efficient, funny but never intruding! The bean burrito was so filling and delicious I was rolling out the door! A real neighborhood gem!

Great restaurant for authentic style Tex Mexican. The Fajitas are amazing. Beef was very tender and delicious. Chicken Enchilda was great too. A must eat from the menu Also had some great Frozen Margaritas... Fruit Tingle and Strawberry was great and refreshing with the food. Can't wait to go back! Especially for those Frozen Margaritas in summer!!

Regular customers. My husband and I have been going to Mexican Cantina and ordering take-away from there for 4 years! My husband is American and he is always disappointed by the lack of Mexican restaurants here, we found Mexican Cantina and he loves it. I am vegetarian so I can choose from 3 or 4 main meals but they are yummy (but VERY cheesy). We usually always get Nachos Special (salsa, cheese, sour cream, garlic guacamole, and we ask for added jalepeno pieces on them). Mexican Cantina is definitely Tex Mex so don't go there expecting something else. It is your typical Tex Mex with lots of cheese and sour cream and guacamole. However there are some other menu items like fajitas which are not cheesy, they also have vegetarian fajitas and sometimes prawn fajitas (in restaurant only, not takeaway). The fajitas come out sizzling and steaming on a hot plate and smell great. The nachos and meals are cooked on the plate, and the waiters will tell you to be careful since the plates have just come out of the oven! My husband has tried basically all the meat dishes and vegetarian but he usually gets La Combination now because you get a range of things on the plate. He loves the meat, they use chicken breast and shredded beef steak. To be honest most of the meals pretty much taste the same and could use the addition of some exotic herbs, sauces and whatnot. But that is Tex Mex - it's usually not full of all kinds of different flavours like that. I'd love to see a bit more zing and flavour and variety like Baha Taco in Rye. But the Cantina is still very yummy, their rice is always cooked perfect and fluffy and the beans/frijoles are not too bland. Mexican Cantina has Del Mar dish which is prawns in an orange mornay sauce. Some people love it and some people hate it. I liked it but I find it's too much as a whole meal of just one creamy strong taste. Overall Mexican Cantina is the best Tex Mex in the area (so much better than taco bill yuck!) because they use better quality ingredients, fresh full of flavour guacamole, everyone we've taken there loves the shredded beef steak they use in their burritos. The desserts are also very good, I've had the cheese flan, Death By Chocolate and mexican coffee and they are all fantastic. The margaritas and sangria are good too but I have never tried a cocktail. The staff are always extremely friendly. I have seen some reviews on here saying the staff are terrible but we've been going there for 4 years and they have always been extra friendly and helpful and the owner is great, very friendly nice guy and he has given us stuff to try before it has come out in the restaurant. Also the staff are always happy for us to modify the menu, like I ask for added chopped veggies in the cheese burrito. If you are looking for a more upmarket Spanish restaurant, try the other one, The Black Toro in Glen Waverley. If you get takeaway from the Cantina, pick it up quickly as tacos and nachos can go soggy as they are in aluminium containers with a lid.

After visiting the Mexican cantina in narre warren I can say most definately I'll be back . The food was sensational, service was fast and friendly. Will most definately return again!
This has to be one of the best restaurants in Melbourne. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food served quickly and always cooked perfectly. This is some of the tastiest food you'll have the pleasure of eating. The atmosphere is great, ideal for an intimate dinner or one with friends. I found this place when I moved to Narre 9 years ago and haven't had a bad experience.
Fantastic food, great service, and yummy margaritas... The Burrito Supreme is absolutely delicious! Definitely my pick for Mexican - I'm happy to drive a long way to come here and I am never disappointed.
Really good food. Have been there many times and have never been disapointed. Has a really nice family atmosphere and the staff are always friendly. We like the our meal really spicy and although the meals are not that spicy, their chilli powder has a real kick to it. Will definatly be going back.

Friendly Family Service. This is a lovely family run business, with good service and great food. The cocktails are so-so but the prices are very reasonable. I love the ambiance of this place, it's just such a warm welcoming place to eat.
Just had dinner at the canteena and it was fantastic. The food is always great and if you need to change something in your order, they are more than happy to do so. The service is always quick and friendly and the Tuesday night special, $14.95 main meals are great value. In short great service and great value!!
Amazing vibe! The staff are extremely friendly. The owner is there and making sure everyone is happy and well looked after. They will bend over backwards for you. Not only would I suggest supporting this business because of the staffs positive attitude but the food is also FANTASTIC!!! Do yourself and your company a favour and book a table at Mexican Cantina!
