We had heard some good reviews about Lucky Dumpling, and decided to give it a go. We live near Narre Warren and go there every week, but we would have never noticed this restaurant.
The restaurant storefront looks inconspicuous, inside the store it is small but clean and practical. My husband and I ordered the twice-cooked pork belly with rice ($10.95), steamed chicken and prawn dumplings (6 for $6.5), xiao long bao (8 for $8.95) and steamed BBQ pork buns (2 for $6.95). The twice-cooked pork belly was seasoned with black bean sauce, and tasted very nice and fresh. What really stood out was the pan-fried capsicum and onion pieces, you can really taste the 'wok hei' – which is becoming very hard to find nowadays, and I certainly didn't expect to find it here. The xiao long bao were a little small, but each contained a decent amount of soup inside. I just wished they used a bigger bamboo steamer, because all 8 xiao long bao were crammed inside the little steamer and it was easy to puncture them by accident. The BBQ pork buns were authentic; and the steamed dumplings were great. Very often chicken and prawn dumplings tend to be lumpy because the dumpling filling isn't mixed properly. But here these dumpling filling was smooth and full of flavours.
Very reasonably priced and very tasty, Lucky Dumpling has well exceeded our expectations. Will be back again soon!
Absolutely love this place. Always fast and always fresh. Would recommend the nasi goreng rice and also the friend dumplings 10/10. Always a great atmosphere. Haven’t had a bad experience here
My favourite go to place when I'm feeling lazy throughout the week. Quick, simple and cheap dishes. The guys provide friendly service and I couldn't ask for more! Favourite dish: Steamed Chicken & Prawn Dumplings
Best dumplings here especially the pan fried pork and custard buns service was also very good lovely people . The quality of the food is great
First timer tonight and in no way disappointed. Dumplings were fantastic. Chicken wings crispy and tender. Twice cooked pork n rice beautiful. Not a fancy place but a pure hidden treasure. $34 for 2 n brought food home. Im certainly going again
Best dumplings in the area isn't very flash inside but that's ok as I only get takeaway anyway dumplings taste great and very fast service and great prices
I eat here pretty much twice a week and it's my absolute fave
One of my favourite Asian takeout places in Melbourne which for me has been hard to find . Menu prices are very affordable.Their interior design is very outdated but if you're able to look past that you'll find that they offer a good range of delicious meals. I went up the road to Orient Express which was a lot nicer inside and their meal prices were reflective of that. My husband and I are new regulars to this spot and we love it! we usually get the salt and pepper stir fry chicken and steamed beef dumplings. The only downside is the lengthy wait which we've experienced on a few occasions which is why I would never take my toddler to dine in. Friendly staff as always,
The restaurant is small and the furniture definitely needs to be replaced! It looks unappealing and if not for the reviews and rating on zomato, I wouldn't have even looked that way at the restaurant. We decided to get takeaway instead of dining in. We had the chicken prawn dumplings in chilli oil soup and the kung pao chicken on rice. The dumplings were perfect! However the chilli oil soup was a disappointment. It lacked in chilli and was only a soup. However, the kung pao chicken was amazing! The flavours, the spiciness and the aroma from it was sensational! Pricing was good and food was ready within ten minutes to pick up. It was fresh and steaming hot!
Never disappoints. This small Dumpling house was a great find. Staff is very friendly. Have never had a bad meal here and have visited a dozen or so times since discovering them earlier this year. reasonably priced. Setting is very plain and simply but this does not take away from the quality of food and service.
My second favourite place to go for pan fried pork dumplings and spring onion pancakes!
I've never had a bad meal here and I've been here countless times.
The place could do with a furniture revamp and and all round refurbish but I'll always keep coming back, no matter what.
A quaint dumpling place in the area that always delivers delicious food. We're always greeted straight away and taken to a table because it rarely gets busy. Staff is very friendly and the service is quick. Love the chicken and prawn dumplings, so juicy and full of flavour. Will definitely keep coming back!
Regular Sunday lunch for me. Dumpling soups, pork dumplings, fan friend, steamed or mini buns- delicious. The beef are not to my liking but there is plenty to choose from. The service is always bright and cheery and THEY HAVE EFTPOS!
Yum... Yum... Yum... I haven't eaten dumplings like this for a while. It's lovely to have these now in the local area without having to drive so far too get fresh dumplings. The soup is ready and im not finding myself adding soy sauce and pepper, like I do from most venues. I recommended this local dumpling place. :-)
Kung Pao Chicken on Rice. It's beautiful! And it's spicy.
Yummy Yummy Food!!!!!!. It's wonderful place to eat food and dumping specifically!! There's great service and cheap food. I will come back and very soonnnnnmm. If you wanna have good food just come here!
Yummy Dumplings!. My husband and I came here last Friday for dinner and I enjoyed it. We had the prawn and chicken pan fried dumplings which were delicious (a hair away from Melbourne CBD standard) and the Nasi Goreng was a little too sweet for my liking but it was very fresh and had all the right vegetables.
The service was great, it was busy for Friday night dinner with phone orders, people picking up take away and patrons dining it, yet the young waiter (who was on his own) did a fantastic job and no one was left waiting too long.
Will definitely come back if I'm ever in Narre Warren again

You have heard me lament the sad fact that there are no dumpling restaurants out here in the Outer South-East before. Well the lament must now come to an end because Lucky Dumpling in Narre Warren has arrived. But, the minute the urban spoon reviews hit 3 thumbs up, I was there. So I am not exactly Captain Cook/ naval explorer material but I am more one of the early settlers. Still pretty adventurous yes? So in the tradition of most other Aussie dumpling restaurants this place is pretty sparse. We are talking plastic table cloths an rickety chairs. It is also very small. But, none of this really matters. You do not come here to be treated like royalty you have come here to eat delicious food.
So glad there is a dumplings place finally in my area! Great little place just need to get eftpos
Yummy. Loved the beef dumplings, pork could cut down a bit on the ginger, but other then that its all round goodness!
Friday night dumplings!. Lucky Dumplings serves by far the best dumplings this side of Glen Waverley. The service is quick and friendly.
Must try are the vegetarian dumplings which pack a heap of flavour, the mini pork buns and the beef dumplings. The kids love the spring onion pancake here. We have now made Lucky Dumplings our regular, having Friday night dumplings night.
Nom nom nom!. First time to this restaurant today and was not disappointed one little bit! Cheap and tasty food and service was quick quick quick!! Will definitely be returning
A little hidden gem!! Amazing dumplings and the deep fried salt and pepper squid was delicious. The service was great, despite being very busy.
Great food and great value for money, just need more staff as wait time was a bit long
Great food. Great food, very cheap but not the best service. We will be back
Perfect food. Great service. Will return again very very soon!
Decor is horrible, its in a dodgy part of town, clientele a bit scary (a table full of people with full-face tattoos!), but delicious delicious dumplings at a great price. Get take away and go home and gorge yourself on tasty fresh dumplings!
Awesome. My family use to travel from Hampton Park to Glen Waverly for good dumplings until we found Lucky Dumpling. Fantastic food and chesp too. A cosy little restaurant nice and close to home. Highly recommended!
Yummy. Hubby and I are always looking for a decent dumpling place and when we learnt this was close to home we were very excited. We were not dissapointed. Very affordable and tasty. The spring onion pancake was one of the best I have ever had. Cannot wait to go back there again.
Good value.. You never know how small places will perform.
There was nothing exceptional about the décor.
The dumplings were BEYOND expectation.
The Twice cooked Pork was a bit too salty,
the rice was lovely.
Really good green tea and all for a very reasonable price.
I'll be back.
More dumplings must be had.
Very nice food and stuff the Singapore fried noodles were delicious, the fried chicken and prawn dumplings equally as good. This was the first time myself and my partner visited this establishment. The asthetics of the restaurant are not the best, but the food is delicious
We dined in and had Fried vege dumplings, garlic prawns and fried rice. The food was delicious and the lady was nice and helped us decide what was best to get!
