Heard about this place from friends and family and I am always hesitant about all you can eats, but decided to give it a try. I really enjoy Japanese food and am happy to try new things.
Firstly, I would suggest to do the lunch on Sunday, rather than any of the dinner sessions. The reason is that there is only one session (12-3) and it is when you would actually be hungry and you can take your time. The dinner sessions are a bit odd, either 5:30-7:30 and 7:45-10 this means that you are either quiet early or really late and I find that I would possibly not enjoy the food as much.
Now to the food: there is a large range with something for everyone. It is well prepared and delicious. The standouts for me were the prawn goyza’s, beef carpaccio and the Nigiri. They are so good.
The service is very prompt, the food comes out quickly and is hot. The wait staff can sometimes be a touch overeager at the start and jump on you as soon as you even touch the menu (but it means you get your food quicker). We were on a table for two and only got one menu, which got frustrating at times.
We will definitely be back. It is great value for money with delicious food and attentive wait staff.
All you can eat cooked to order. Everything was awesome.
The all you can eat was really great! We enjoyed everything and the staff were very friendly
A hidden gem, a very traditional Japanese spread. Great dine in service, very quick with the food. All you can eat option let’s you try different dishes and not waste anything. Good take away options as well. Quite busy so book ahead.
Great value for money and food was good quality. I loved the eggplant salad and the beef carpaccio. The sashimi platter was also great. Even though the menu is ‘all you can eat’, because the restaurant is so busy it was actually quite difficult to order. The staff were friendly and helpful, but they had so much to do we had to wait to flag one of them down to order each time and ended up feeling like a bit of an inconvenience and for this reason didn’t order as many dishes as we would have liked to.
Delicious. I ordered takeaway - although I was expecting a larger serving for the katsu curry, it was still delicious and filling. Sushi was nice.
Great service, great food, and great value for money! Everything on the menu was awesome, plenty vegetarian options also! I would highly recommend
Could not fault this place! We went on a Saturday night. We made a booking on Saturday for 7:45pm ( for the second seating). There was a line out the door when we arrived but it quickly moved. I would strongly recommend booking. Bookings made for the first seating (from 5:30pm) are for 2 hours.
The service was excellent, there were staff around and they were friendly and attentive. You can order as many times as you like, but it works out to be about 4 times to order food (with ordering, eating, chatting etc).
The food. Delicious. Everything was great. The portions are served based on the number of people in your party, but it’s a good size so that you can explore the full menu. We got a few of our favourites; sashimi & sushi platters, miso steak, chicken teriyaki skewers, miso soup, beef carpaccio, chicken katsu, teriyaki steak, gyozas, edamame, mochi, green tea ice cream & black sesame ice cream. For drinks we BYO wine which was only $5 per bottle.
The crowd is lively; lots of people enjoying delicious food. We left very full and it only cost $70.60 in total for the both of us.
Looking forward to going back soon!
Genuinely can't fault this place. Everything I ate was absolutely incredible. Service was decent but I wouldn't expect the staff to be extremely quick considering their load of orders. Genuinely would've paid more than $32 as it was well worth the price
I'm always fond of Japanese food and I was very keen to try Okami in Narre Warren. They offer 2 evening all-you-can-eat sessions, 5.30pm and 7.45pm, at a flat rate $32.80 per adult. My husband and I went there on a weeknight and it was much busier than we thought; however service was quite fast and friendly. My personal favourite was the beef carpaccio with creamy wasabi dressing – so good that I ordered it three times. The sushi and sashimi platter was very fresh. We also ordered gyoza, chicken karaage, miso steak, teriyaki steak, chicken katsu – all excellent. We have tried the green tea and black sesame ice cream, the latter was definitely better. You can order the dishes at single-person portion or more – while we ordered all our dishes as single-person portions, it was very filling.
There are 2 items we tried and didn't like – daifuku and grilled squid with miso sauce. Nothing too wrong with the daifuku, but you can see it's a store-bought one and it was meh. The grilled squid, however, was bad. It was obviously a single-person potion because it came out as a half squid cap. It was chewy enough to defeat the most enthusiastic dog. We gave up after the first bite. It's a pity because everything else we tried was pretty good. Nonetheless, there were more hits than misses, it's not bad at all.
Overall I'm happy with our Okami dining experience. Will be back again.
HOMG this place was AMAZING!!! The service was quick, staff were friendly 10/10 would recommend. It’s a small and intimate restaurant which is why I think service was fast.
My favourite were the karage, sushi, prawn dumplings and the desert out of this world good. We had the green tea ice (stunning but not too sweet), sesame ice cream (again home made and gorgeous on the palette. this was a little sweeter than the green tea but not overly sweet) and the dai fuku (this is similar to mochi. It’s not quite as good but it was still nice).
My least favourite was probably the tempura and the takoyaki. The tempura was a little too oily and in all honesty I had takoyaki in Japan and I don’t think anything would compare. Now don’t get me wrong they were not bad in anyway, shape or form they were just not may favourite from everything we tried.
It was well worth the money. I would highly recommend giving it a go.
No doubt the food was absolutely great! Once we were seated and were served, 5 minutes later the food had already came out. I was so amused despite all the reviews about long waits between meals. Miso steak was my absolute favourite dish of the night and the squid salad. However, it did bother me that some of my dishes were missing and we were given dishes we did not order. Besides that, the employees were great and the food was splendid!!
Went for a friend’s going away dinner with all the work girls and can say it was such a nice clean environment with staff always coming and checking up and asking us if we need anything.
We kept ordering throughout our session and the food would arrive very quickly and would be very warm and fresh as well!
Was the first time I tried proper Japanese food and let’s just say it was an extremely pleasant & delicious experience! Highly recommend and will be back :)
So happy Okami is now at Narre Warren. The best yummy Japanese food.... my whole family really enjoy the ‘all you can eat’. You will not be disappointed!!!
We came here as a last minute booking for Father’s Day and we managed to get in straight away. The all you can eat menu was amazing! We didn’t have any complaints. Staff were friendly and food was delicious. Will definitely be back. Thanks guys!
Went here for a casual night and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was. $32.90 for all you can eat with a good range of things to choose from. We started with 8 dishes then ordered our favourites again.
I was very excited to have a Japanese all you can eat resturant open in Narre Warren.
Food was pretty good. Unfortunately there were major issues with the orders for the night.
We waited 50mins between meals. The staff didnt know which meals had come out. Noticed another table near us having the same problem. Through out the night there were at least 5 meals that were put on our table wrongly. After telling the staff, they would pick it up and go to the next table only to be told the same thing by them.
We were offered complimentary drinks which we respectfully declined, we just wanted to get the food we ordered.
I may give them a few months before i return for them to sort this failuring system out. Staff were friendly, hope they get it right.
Update:
Went bqck on the 19th of oct 2019. The service was top notch. Previously rated a 2. I have bumped up to a 4. Well done
So happy this has opened up locally. You definitely need to book. The staff are friendly and polite. Best to order 4 or 5 things at a time and start next order when they have started to be served as they get very busy.
The food was great and the must haves are the Miso Steak and Chicken Karaage. We will definitely be a regulars here.
This is a nice and cozy place to have a nice meal out.
I would recommend to book in advance especially on Fridays and weekends to avoid a long wait.
As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted with a smile. Waiting staff from start to finish were very polite and friendly.
It is recommended to order 5 to 6 dishes at a time, as the wait for your food can take some time.
The dishes were cooked fresh and serving sizes were generous.
Definitely will come back again as they made us feel welcomed and food was of good quality.
$32.80 for each person all you can eat such great value for the price. Great food, and the staff were very polite and eager to please. Will be back soon!
