We first tried this place on the 3rd april and have been coming here every day since. And will continue till the 10th april. You'll wish you could drink it out of a drum just can't get enough. Plenty of seating in the shade and sun. Perfect to grab take way and walk along pier. Nutella donuts are the best ever. Fruit toast is thick cut and very fresh. Plenty to chose from on the menu. They also have separate kids menu. Friendly service. And a fridge full of slices. Can't get enough of this awesome place. If you'd like a morning coffee in the shade with a breeze 9.30 is the best time.
Awesome Service, Amazing Food, Lovely Little place. I recommend booking a table as it gets very busy - I can see why with the quality of food. Need a place to stay? The Nelson Resort is just next door, and it’s beautiful too. Highly recommend and we will be back for sure!!
i rate the LITTLE nel cafe, 5 .. went there for brunch on Saturday with 7 other people, and we could not fault a thing ... the friendly staff ,, the food ,, and the great atomosphere were the best .. I will be going back and telling people how great it was...... Thank you to all the staff ....
Was recommended this cafe and it didn’t disappoint once we found where it was lol
Food was fresh large servings. Quick service by friendly young girls. Well priced would totally recommend and return
Exceptional food, wonderful service, lovely warm spot to sit for a winter breakfast. The food was very flavoursome & the coffee was very enjoyable! Great healthy options on the menu also. Would highly recommend.
It was my first visit to Little Nel Café. I have to say I was thoroughly impressed. It was very busy, but the staff were all very happy and helpful and the food was presented beautifully and tasted delicious. I will definitely be back and will recommend it to everyone.
Went to The Little Nel 3 times for 3 consecutive days and the food and service was faultless! I came last year and loved your porridge, but I'm loving the new porridge and changes to the menu even more. Oh, and also loved the avo toast! I was able to get add ons (eggs, mushrooms, spinach) and the servings were generous! Good job on the shrooms and the little butter drizzled ontop. Heaven. Great service, price & food. Definitely my go to for breakfast & will happily come for 3 meals next time I'm on holiday ;) Cheers!!!
The Little Nel Cafè is always fantastic!! From the friendly staff and beautiful location, to the exquisite food, I don't think I could recommend them any higher!! Doesn't matter what you order, it's always amazing!!
The BEST cafe in Port Stephens. The food is AMAZING & the staff are all so lovely, nothing is ever a drama for any of them. I highly recommend this place to everyone!
Have been there a few times now meals were great staff a great will always go back and recommend it to anyone
this would have to be one of the best breakfasts we have ever had the service was excellent the food was fantastic the staff wonderful
Will be coming back here again 😎😎
Beautiful food and coffee. Was a real treat coming up from Melbourne and experiencing such great service and food. Thank you
The best breakfast ever! Loved every moment and mouthful. Even my 2 year old enjoyed his food and felt special when he got a colouring pack. Thank-you for helping us to end our holiday on a high. We will be back.
Great service great food especially with the weather and a crowd of people trying to get out of the rain we will be back!
Thank you for the absolutely flavorful dishes served this morning. Have been told about this cafe many times and finally got to experience it for myself today. Beautiful bubbly staff. The open plan seating makes the subtle sea breeze enjoyable. I will return without hesitations. Highly recommend.
Fabulous breakfast in the winter sun, some twists on the menu, everything was delicious and great coffee!
This is the best cafe in Nelson Bay! The food was quite amazing, however very expensive. The only downside was that it took really long to wait, almost an hour. Their menu is quite unique as well.
A busy place and rightfully so. Not just an average breakfast place but something that would be on par with what's in Sydney.
Ordered the sambal chilli scrambled eggs - okay size, needed to add bacon to make it a bit more substantial. The flavours were well balanced with the chilli, yoghurt and lime. The scrambled eggs looked like they were a pre mix.
Service for coffee took some time.
I’ve been here a few times now with my family and have always enjoyed it. The food is delicious and fairly priced too. The service is pretty good and always happy to help. The place is located real close to the water front and is in a beautiful location.
I highly recommend this place to anyone want a nice breakfast or lunch.
Best breakfast place in the area. Yet to find one better, but why bother looking when the food and coffee here are great! Always come here when in the area.
Came here for the seafood lunch degustation and for breakfast the next day.
Lunch: everything is well plated and fresh. Showcasing good produce of the area. In between dish took a little long, but it was worth the wait. Poached lobster is the best.
Breakky: got bacon waffle. Interesting mix of ice cream and bacon. The sweetness and grease was a bit too much towards the end, but Everything is delicious. Btw they are really generous with bacon.
We live around the point in Shoal Bay which has some great cafes but thought we’d try Little Nel for breakfast & it didn’t disappoint. A great vibe going here with a young, upbeat team. We had the usual scrambled eggs, bacon etc and my partner who is Coeliac also had a gluten free option of which there were a few. Some of the bakery is baked fresh in house that morning which was good to see. Only feedback is the freshly squeezed juice is a bit pricey, $8. Mine was a mix of juices and was $10. Juice either has to be bigger or price has to come down. Overall a great little place. I look forward to next time!
Really great food and really nice atmosphere! One of the best cafes I’ve been to in a really long time, keep up the amazing food guys. I had a hard time picking what to order because there was a lot a great options, vegan friendly too
Excellent foods and amazing service. When you are in the area, you must try little nels cafe. I would love to go back here in the near future. Ambience was great. We love their staffs uniform they're cute.
Beautifully set up for indoor outdoor dining. The service is a little slow, despite having so many staff. The food is absolutely delicious, make sure to try the fritters or mushrooms and if you’re feeling naughty the Nutella doughnut is yummy!
Friendly service, lovely ambience & excellent food
We felt the Fish of the day was a lil over battered but the rest was fabulous! The green boost smoothie was very well balanced and tasted delicious.
This was recommended by my friend and is one of the best cafes in Nelson bay! The breakkie was amazing and loved it! The omelette was fluffy like a cat and the corn fritters tasted yumm. The coffee and the shakes were mind blowing. Highly recommended to all the travellers!

Stayed next door at The Nelson. The Little Nel Cafe is a small cafe made even smaller with the outside area closed due to rain. We had the crispy sambal pave and the passionfruit stack which were both delicious and highly recommended. The chilli scrambled eggs though was disappointing, it definitely sounded better on paper than how it was tasted and served.
Lovely dinner here tonight. Service was great and all of the waitresses were very welcoming and friendly. Food was of a very good standard. We all left very happy.
Breakfast here was very good. Well prepared food, attentive staff. Breakfast servings are quite big for an Australian restaurant - the most bacon I’ve ever been served anywhere! Zucchini fritters look like deep fried horse turds - but don’t let that put you off as they are really quite good! Didn’t try the cakes/slices in the cabinet but they looked very appealing.
Awesome breakfast had the waffles with bacon and also the polenta with fried egg and avo corn salsa, good coffee, good service. Will be back!
✔️ Located elevated high and looking out onto the Marina water, this cafe is so fresh and enjoyable to sit for ages and have a relaxing meal. The outside area is gorgeous on a nice day like today but quite small so we were lucky enough to get a bench outside. We started off with a few freshly squeezed juices and coffee. A great start - my mocha was so yum and presented really cutely. For breakie I ordered the açai mousse, my dad ordered the berry smoothie bowl, my mum got a croissant with jam, my sister got the fruity pancake stake and a bombolini as well. The food was perfect in all aspects - taste, flavour, presentation. Props to them for such effort into delivering beautiful meals. Both the croissant and bombolini were nice and fresh, and the pancakes were fluffy and delicious. I absolutely loved my acai mousse plate, it was so exquisite and unique but amazing in flavour. From the crunchy and creamy coconut meringue, to the chunky and fresh granola blocks, to the creamy, indulgent açai which was exactly like chocolate mousse in texture. The smoothie bowl was also amazing - the consistency was super thick and creamy which is pretty hard to find, so I get very impressed when I come across cafes which deliver proper well-made bowls. Regarding the service, the only positive was the lady at the cash register who was lovely and such a breath of fresh air.
❌ I hate to give negatives because so many aspects were amazing but otherwise, the service was quite disappointing. It was very slow and in terms of professionalism it was definitely lacking. The waiters were inexperienced and unsure about pretty much everything. Also, the prices are quite ridiculous. I was expecting a monster portion for the the açai mousse plate and the smoothie bowl which were both $19 each (but usually $12-$14 everywhere else) and was actually shocked to see how tiny the plates were.

Really enjoyed our brunch at the Little Nel! Lovely relaxed atmosphere, a family-friendly and spacious interior.
Everything was plated beautifully, and tasted as good as it looked. The Zucchini & Green Pea Fritters ($23) were perfectly soft and fluffy with a crunchy coating. The Middle Eastern Falafel Bowl ($21) came with three warm, freshly made falafels and a very generous serving of quinoa. Only let down for me were the the Passionfruit Curd Pancakes ($20), which looked amazing, but I found them a bit tough and dry. Coffee and drinks were great.
Overall really positive experience, and will definitely be back the next time I visit Nelson Bay!
Very lovely location and great place for brunch. All portions were massive, I had the eggs benedict ($20) and couldn't finish my meal. Everything here is very generous and staff are friendly. Pictured are meals that other people around the table had :)
Came here originally as the breakfast images looked tasty. The lunch menu didn’t look appealing after we sat down but food was amazing. Ordered the pumpkin ravioli which tastes perfect and on the plus side prevention was nice.
A beautiful cafe tucked away on a quiet street. Upon arriving for breakfast, we were greeted and seated swiftly. The menu had a great mixture of sweet and savoury options that were reasonably priced (coming from a Sydney-sider). The coffee is good and the food was nice. The things that stood out for us were the juices and smoothies, I would definitely order those again! Only down side was the wait time on our coffee. It took around 40 minutes for us to receive our coffees which delayed our #butfirstcoffee routine. To end on a positive note, the staff are warm and friendly.
When travelling, whether it be somewhere nearby or overseas, I love trying out the local cafe's and restaurants and really engrossing myself into the culture of the area. Sometimes it doesn't go as hoped, and other times... I am so incredibly surprised. . The Little Nel is located within a motel premise atop the higher point in the Nelson Bay town centre. From here you can see the marina below, where plenty of boats are docked. It's not much of a view, but it's still quite a beautiful sight.
Staying in the hotel, so had breakfast here. It was lovely. Nice presentation on all dishes and taste good. Nice environment, friendly staff.
Ate here for breakfast since we were staying at 'The Nelson Resort' and was extremely happy with the quality of the food and the bubbliness of the staff. I tried the acai plate, which was perfectly presented and tasted as good as it looks! However, the portion size wasnt very big or filling (I could say the same about the toasted museli) but I was not complaining because I went on a hike up Tomaree mountain shortly after!
This place is the best and quickest service i have received in Nelsons Bay since ive been here. The food was delicious and the quality was outstanding i would recommend it anyone who wants beautiful fill filling breakfast.
Loved this cafe just behind the main promenade near the water. Nice views of you sit outside and just delectable food for brunch. Big serves and very tasty!!! Would definitely recommend as a highlight in Port Stephens dining arena.
The food here is really nice. Yes it's a little bit pricey but most of the cafés in this area are. And if you're going to pay that price you want to be sure the food is tasty. I had zucchini and pea fritters with poached egg and bacon and it was delicious. My husband had the pancake special which was also delicious. The coffee has good strength although I did order it strong to get that beautiful strong taste. There is also a lovely view of the ocean from the outside seating area. Staff was very pleasant and the food arrived in a good amount of time. We stayed there so long I ended up having an iced coffee as well which was equally well-made.
It was a good time having breakfast here.
We ordered the beacon and eggs and eggs benedict. It was gorgeous and tasty especially the added mushrooms and beacons. Crispy and well cooked.
The coffee is suitable for those prefer bitter and strong. The Raspberry tea has no sugar, good for someone who avoid putting on weight as well.
Price is slightly high. Nearly $50 for 2 persons.
Amazing. We were getting desperate to find any nice eats in Nelson Bay, but this place restored my faith! Couldn't fault it. We had 6 adults, 2 children and 2 babies in our party. I ordered the eggs benedict, which is generally a hit or miss dish. The hollandaise was light and not overwhelming. Husband ordered the tomato bruschetta with a side of bacon, children had pancakes (off the kids menu).... All amazing. Good coffee. Good green boost smoothie. Kids chocolate milkshake Delish. Good way to start the day. Bookings for a large group essential.... Quite busy. But they had plenty of attentive staff to deal with the load. 👍
Really fantastic breakfast experience. We went here three days in a row because we liked it so much. Delicious, well prepared food. Excellent service - let's give props to the manager who actually hired enough staff to stay completely on top of things even though they were near capacity every morning. Great location (with a carpark just a few doors up the hill). Tasteful decor and a great general vibe. Oh and nice coffee to.
Very hard to fault!
Very nice brunch, friendly service and reasonable wait. We had the chak chouka and the eggs benedict, both of them really yummy...
The place was nice and the food and coffee was good. The only downside to it was the time it took for the food to come out. We ordered a natural muesli and a watermelon salad and it took them half an hour. No joke.
I reckon best place for iced coffee in the area and amazing staff service. My friend and I went there for breakfast and lunch, and we were very impressed with the menu for both which made it a lot harder to decide what to eat. Hands down the hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict was perfect and the American burger was juicy and delicious.

Best place in town enjoyed breakfast and lunch here for our whole stay! Amazing food!
Sunny, bright breakfast atmosphere. Yummy light French toast. Friendly service.
Good coffee & good food, set in a nice little outdoor space.
Surprising gem. The setting is contemporary and cool with attractive inside decor, and leafy outside. Breakfast menu had enough variety to cause indecision! I had Chilli scrambled egg, delicious with a hint of mint and topped with hollandaise sauce. Others had Egg stack with dukkah.
The only downside was innappropriate and a little too loud music for brunch.
A little cafe that speaks volumes with their vibrant breakfast menu is what is found when you visit The Little Nel in Nelson Bay.
Located on one of the main streets this popular cafe showcases a contemporary menu with some classics for breakfast. Accompanied by well made coffee it makes this location perfect for a quick breakfast catch up with friends or family.
Parking was not too difficult to find as three shops down there is a small parking lot which is ticketed.
The food was absolutely delicious with generous portions and beautiful presentation.
I will definitely be back for more next time I'm in the area!
Great cafe that is just perfect on a sunny day when you can sit outside, but if not, the whole menu is available as takeaway. Dog friendly so you can bring your fur friends with you as well. Food is tasty, coffee is good and the bacon and egg roll for breakfast will make sure that you can go through until dinner before being hungry. There is a bit of wait, but that is to be expected given how popular and great this place is!
The Bacon Benedict at The Little Nel was the best way to start off our trip. It’ll definitely be hard to top that feed. The yolk perfectly cascaded down the tower of crispy bacon, perfectly wilted spinach, and golden toast. The hollandaise was delectable and was perfectly complimented by the sweet and smoky relish. Don’t worry if you spill the sauce on your white shirt, it would be a badge of honour that you were able to indulge in such a beautiful creation.
One of our favourite cafes in Nelson Bay. The food is always really interesting, taking a fresh twist on traditional meals and we have always enjoyed the coffee here. Today we ordered a prawn and crab pasta which was very nice, a roast pork Vietnamese roll (Bahn mi) and a kids cheeseburger meal. The malt chocolate milk shake was a lovely trip down memory lane with its malty flavour in the metal milk shake. Coffee today was ok but I have admittedly tasted better at other times.
Didn't disappoint.
Great breakfast option.
Tasty breakfast.
Great coffee.
Yummy Smoothies.
Quick service.
Not too pricey.
Good spot (only issue is not a pram/wheelchair friendly - unless I missed it).
The vibe was great, the food was awesome, and the coffee was excellent too! I had the "Bombay Potatoes and Onion Bhajis". The portion size was great and added a side of poached eggs which was also went well with the meal. There was a really good balance of the sweetness of the chutney with the savoury of the bhaji and potato. The use of crumbled flake to top the capuccino was a good touch too!
Really popular and cute little cafe with delicious food. We went for breakfast and I really enjoyed the food here. Wait times are on the longer side for a cafe since it was quite busy on a weekday.

Not much to choose from in Nelson Bay but this is the best of the lot. Plenty of parking next door. This cafe is open everyday, and is super popular.
💥 Coastal themed decor with lots of white. Plenty of space for diners, plenty of tables inside and outside, we had a wheelchair and could get through the restaurant very easily.
💁🏼♀️ Their mission is to make sure their customers think visiting Little Nel was the best part of their day, you don’t see many cafes with a mission so this is very sweet.
🧃 We had juices and milkshakes which were very fresh and good.
Plenty to choose from:
We had all different dishes!
TOASTED CROISSANT
smoked ham, cheddar cheese, slow roasted tomato chutney $14 - dad had this looked good!!
BACON BENEDICT
poached eggs, baby spinach, bacon, slow roasted tomato chutney, hollandaise on soy & linseed sourdough $24 (GFV)
They have Bischoff Belgian Waffles and Acai bowls. SO much to choose from!
✨ Will be back every time i’m in Nelson Bay.
