Review Chanoyu -japanese Infused Cafe- - Nerang

The service by the staff was very welcoming and warm. The place does get busy around brunch time so may help to get a reservation. The wait wasn't too long. Their food is very well presented and unique. They also have a very nice selection of Matcha, Hojicha, and black sesame desserts and drinks. Their prices are affordable and very suitable for family outings.

Friendly service. Beautiful, authentic Japanese food. Japanese Tan Tan Noodle was good, little bit of heat but not too spicy. Karaage Chicken Rice was good but nothing to be excited for. Kids loved the Katsu Sando w chips. Pretty much a thick as fried steak in the middle of two slices of soft white toast. Dessert wise, a little disappointed that they sold out the Mini Matcha Parfait considering I drove half an hour for that. Affogato w Macha drizzle can’t make up for it. Cream puff was good 👍 Overall a good experience, bonus point was the newly built playground for the kids to burn off some energy after all the food. Will be back next time to have my Matcha Parfait

This place is crackingly good and super reasonably priced. Only just stumbled across it. Looking forward to many returns. Really really tasty food, pleasant surrounds and service. The sweet items aren't too sweet and everything else is incredibly delicious too. Great coffee too and everything is very reasonably priced Just perfect 👍

This Cafe / Restaurant Is Extremely Popular with The Local Asian Community. Had the Wagyu Beef Tataki Rice. It Was Nice. But, Far From Cheap !! $17.50 For a Dish that Only Took Up 2/3 of a Medium Sized Bowl !! An Asian Lady Ordered The SAME Dish & This Was Served On A Large Plate !! & Would Easily Have Been Twice The Serving Size Of Mine !! Just Plain Nonsensical !! Do They Think People DON’T Notice Things Like That !!

Matcha latte w/ espresso and cold Tan Tan noodle are absolutely amazing!! The noodle was immersed in the creamy soy milk and spicy oil, such a surprising idea. The matcha drink was so refreshing, perfect with the noodle. I went at Sunday lunchtime and the cafe was really busy. I had made a reservation and ordered the meal before arrival. But it still took more than half an hour to serve the food (drinks were quicker). I could tell staff were really busy but still being friendly and helpful. I would absolutely visit again, maybe not on the most busy times.

Good find if you're looking for japanese cafe. Offering japanese cafe menu. Just little bit slow in serving coffee. Our meal arrived first before coffee. Offered pastries and hot meals.

The matcha strawberry muffin is one of the best things I have ever eaten. So yummy! The staff was friendly and the atmosphere is nice as well. Definitely a little hidden gem!

I loved it! The menus here are not the same like all the other Japanese restaurants in southport, it's kind of like Japanese inspired western food. The desserts were fantastic. I could totally go only for desserts! Japanese restaurant run by Japanese people. Very polite and wonderful staff. I would definitely recommend. :)

Bright, airy space with kids play area in the corner to keep the little ones happy, slick menu with a Japanese twist, such as Teriyaki Chicken eggs bennie, yuzu cheesecake and matcha tart The matcha lattes are fantastic, finally found a matcha latte that isn't sickly sweet

We saw pictures of Chanoyu’s matcha goodies on social media, and decided that we had to make a visit when we were next on the Gold Coast. Located in the midst of a little row of shops opposite a park, it had the feel of a casual local cafe. A little table was set up out the front, with the menu and pictures of some of their dishes neatly laid out on it. We could only see the name of the cafe when we were just about right in front of it, but that table and some other seats outside at least gave us an indication that there was an eatery there.

Found another hidden jem! This little cafe is perfect for lunch or breakfast with a simple menu including a mix of classic Japanese and Ozzie dishes to choose from. There is a little kids play area and park across the road so great for kids.

Refreshing iced matcha with matcha sweets. Decent light lunches with affordable price. Love that it’s across the dog park. Family and dog friendly.

Atmosphere- very relaxing and nice atmosphere. A good place for catching up with friends. Staff are super friendly as well.

Food and drinks- desserts and coffee were superb. Price is reasonable compared to typical cafe. Will definitely head back for more. The down side would be there are not many options for vegetarian.

It’s the Matcha chocolate ganache tart that gives it away – a pretty little pie case filled with two shades of green chocolate filling…. “Oh my! There’s real talent here,” we think. “I wonder who’s in the kitchen?”. There’s something exciting about finding well-respected chefs in little restaurants, hidden out of the way. It’s like discovering a juicy secret that no one else knows.

I love this place. The food's very simple and not very fancy but the quality's better than what you pay for. It's usually not very busy? So it's a great place to spend time catching up with friends. Service is great too :)

Absolutely love this cafe such a great place. Their light wood interior is very visually pleasing(even their toilets are cute), the food is presented in minimalistic form on a light wood board. Their choice of presentation is perfect as it doesn't draw away from the beauty of the dishes and instead celebrates them. The food here is amazing, I highly suggest this cafe!

Yuzu Cheesecake: (4.5/5)
Absolutely f***ing amazing! The filling is extremely soft and creamy while the base is crumbly and hard making it pair perfectly with the softness of the filling. The lemon taste is subtle and not to overpowering, overall they have nailed this dish!

Chanoyu Burger: (4.5/5)
Burgers were amazing. The buns were extremely soft and fluffy while also slightly crunchy from being toasted, almost the perfect bun. The middle had a nice crunch and thankfully wasn't soft from being fried in oil. The amount of meat used balanced well with the cabbage and sauce added. If I am to be fussy the only thing I would change would be the spinach on the side. Sort of looks like someone just left it there on the board.
