Review Tellicherry - Neutral Bay

This is the second time I visited this place. The first time was great but from some reason the second time felt a bit ordinary. The Fish curry was a bit tight too bland for my palette. The prawn starters were tasty but I was not too impressed that I had to de-shell my entree. The payasam for desert was good.

It was a different experience altogether. Was quite amazed to see the food produced by such a small kitchen. The food was quite good. The only thing I wasn't sure was the price.. I felt it was on the higher side. Recommend trying the beef curry accompanied by the Malabar paratha. Wouldn't say it was the best I've had, but it's definitely one of the better ones I 've had.

My wife and I visited Tellicherry on Wednesday night. We had 4 entree as we couldn't decide between the list of exquisite alternatives. We had the Pepper Chicken, the Lamb Chops, the Dosa and the fried cauliflower. To say the food was exquisite is an understatement. This was the best Indian food I have ever had, bar none. It is a small restaurant so you will need to book. Its also BYO, which helps! Prices are very reasonable and the staff are super helpful. Couldn't say enough about how great a restaurant this really is. A gem in Neutral Bay.

We ordered fish briyani, lamb main dish and parotha. Both fish briyani and lamb costed us $28 each. With that pricing we expected a much larger portion however the serving size was too small for the hefty price. Nothing fantastic with the fish briyani. It was rather dry with no gravy. The lamb however tasted delicious. Waiting time for the food to arrive took way too long on a Friday evening- 40 mins wait time. Appreciate the customer service but would not recommend given the price and average portionings.

My wife & I ate here and were very pleased. A small restaurant with all of the seats filled! The food was freshly cooked and very flavourful and the service was very friendly and efficient. We had the Fish Biryani, Rogan Josh & Naan. The naan was really good! A simple place with great Southern Indian food!!!

We have been going here for over a year, and are always wowed by the flavour. We have since moved to a different part of town so we no longer get to visit as much as we'd like, but we always make a point to bring the overseas relatives and Tellicherry has certainly been met with universal acclaim! Saffron prawns are great, as is the chicken (kori gassi) and the malabar beef fry. We did the meat tasting (set) menu for the first time this week, I would recommend that as it is quite good value - lots to sample and taste, as opposed to just ordering a couple things. BYO accepted, GF and vegetarian options, etc.

The food here is tasty fresh and healthy. Best Indian around. Unique menu. The fish curry is amazing!

Superb, fresh and tasty food. We had the vegetarian tasting menu and every one of the seven dishes was a delight. Highly recommended!

Cannot understand why this isn't 5 stars, every dish is fresh and made with the best ingredients, and a beautiful taste is an understatement,
Could not find a better Indian anywhere
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
When you open the door to Tellicherry, you’re hit by a wave of spices, emanating from a postage stamp sized kitchen. As you wind around its edge, squeezing between packed chairs and tables, the oppressive heat of the room is the second thing you notice. I’m all for authenticity, but making me feel like I’m on a packed train travelling through Southern India might be taking things a bit far. While I’m familiar with Ajoy Joshi’s other Indian stalwart, Nilgiri’s, now located in Cremorne, this is my first visit to Tellicherry. “New year, new menu,” our waiter enthuses, as he distributes the succinct list. Despite booking through their website, I was surprised to discover in situ that the restaurant is unlicensed. So it was back out the door to buy our own beer and wine, though the large silver water jug was welcome, and we’re soon asking for a refill to help cope with the heat. Mangalore Masala Dosa ($18) are a good place to begin. These little pancakes are stuffed full of...

Ordered takeaway at this restaurant. Had the brinjal curry and palak paneer with pulao rice. Food was standard and abit pricey for the taste. Staff are very friendly though and very accommodating.

It is a nice cosy Indian restaurant in Neutral Bay. It is quite hard to spot but that does not stop it from being busy most of the days. The food is great and predominantly has South Indian flavors. There are not a lot of items in the menu but you wouldn't mind it. I particularly liked the brinjal and cauliflower curries. The dosa is really tasty.

We ordered two of the appetizers there before going to another restaurant for dinner. The masala dosa was beautifully prepared and delicious: the pancake was puffy inside and crispy outside, the potato masala (the stuffing) was cooked to perfection (not too hard or too soft), plus the coconut dipping and chutney it tasted divine. The prawns were fresh and crispy and the saffron sauce lifted the flavor perfectly Overall, with their attentive service, it has been a very enjoyable dining experience. We will go back to try their mains next time.

in a few words , this is like a hospital food for patients .. and toooo expensive
I would not go again and not authentic food (not spicy at all)

We have visited Tellicherry a few times, both for eat-in and take-away. We enjoy the fact that the menu offers some things that aren't typical of a Sydney Indian Restaurant and have always been happy with the portion sizes and the flavour. Definitely worth a try if you like Indian food!

Though Tellicherry is barely a quarter the size of its older sibling Nilgiri's in St Leonards, the tiny kitchen still delivers flavour-packed food. We thought the curries (goat curry, Mangalore chicken curry, fish curry) were delicious and each had its own unique flavours rather than a tasting like a generic curry dish. Even the butter chicken is worth ordering, as it was spicier and more complex than the sweet and boring versions served elsewhere. This was also my first time having fish briyani. The white meat was tender and moist, its mild flavour letting the briyani spices take centrestage. The surprise hits were the cauliflower and potatoes as well as the spinach and corn. Before this, I wouldn't expect spinach and corn to pair so well but Tellicherry has shown otherwise. The naan breads were a bit of a letdown as we felt they were too thin, almost like a wrap. We preferred the puffier versions at Blu Ginger which soaked up the curries better. The true star of the bread basket at Tellicherry is the Kerala paratha. It's reminiscent of the roti at Mamak but is denser and not as flaky. Most importantly, it offers a much better curry mopping experience. Service was great; the staff were efficient and friendly. However, I'd recommend wearing something that you can toss in the laundry straight after. The open kitchen and tiny dining area means that you will inevitably walk out smelling like dinner (aka the Korean BBQ effect)

The food was really yummy but the portions are tiny. I would really recommend it for the food quality and friendly staff, however, place is definitely not worth the price. Unfortunately we will not go back.

Absolutely delicious. We have visited Tellicherry twice so far and have taken the non-vegetarian tasting menu each time so that we can enjoy a bit of everything. They give you so much food and the flavours are really amazing - we've never tasted indian like this before. I would happily eat here every week if I could.

Tellicherry is fairly new to Cremorne, it opened its doors less than a year ago. Since then we have been often because we absolutely fell in love with the food. It’s so full of flavour, and so different from other Indian restaurants around. This time we started with the pappadums with mango chutne, pepper pickles and raita. As a main we ordered the butter chicken, which we hadn’t tried before. Normally we take the Tellicherry Fish Bayani which is absolutely beautiful but we wanted to try something new this time and we weren’t dissapointed, on the contrary, the flavours were a

Just as good as Nilgiris - maybe even better!. Being a Brit and one who has travelled through India, I feel I have more idea than most about what makes a good Indian - as well as the bad! Tellicherry definitely knows how to serve up incredible food. We visited Friday night and loved the fact it was BYO and that the staff were super friendly too. We ordered three dishes - shared a naan and some rice. The first to arrive were the prawns with tomato and tamarind - the sauce was perfect - really well judged in and an incredible depth of flavour. The side of spinach with corn added an extra dimension of crunch, whilst the rice and naan were again perfectly cooked. The real stand out though was the beef - almost caremalised in texture and beautifully soft and spicy - like a rendang actually. There was not one thing I would change - and I give it 10 out fo 10. And at $75 it's a bargain too!
