Review Limelight - Neutral Bay

Great food don’t get me wrong- but not as good as Thai places in the south of Sydney and we waited about 40+ minutes for our mains. Not sure if one-off experience 🤷🏻‍♀️ Would love to come back because I enjoyed the atmosphere! ☺️

Great restaurant with a fabulous menu, the food was really delicious and the staff were very attentive

Thai restaurant by night but surprisingly decent brunch cafe by day. Had the eggs Benedict which was really good. Service was fairly quick and easy. Overall a nice local spot if you are ever in neutral bay and looking for decent brunch. Didn’t try dinner so cannot comment on the thai food menu

One of the best Thai restaurants I’ve ever visited and that includes all across Thailand itself. You can of course choose to have their more traditional Thai dishes and they are certainly scrumptious, or you can try some of the creative culinary delights, found particularly around the entree selection. The mains are delicious a standout being the Barramundi. Also a great dessert selection, which is unusual for Thai restaurants, to say the least. Great location, decor with original art on display and lovely staff. There is a deft hand behind the creation and running of a great restaurant like this and my compliments also go to the owners for this great achievement.

Grabbed a quick coffee here. Nice outdoor seating area.

We walked in over a weekend and the restaurant was pretty empty. We sat down at a table outside and had to go and ask for the menu and then be told that the table was reserved (with no sign on the table whatsoever). When we wanted to sit at a table for 4 but only be told to sit at a table for 2 because there were of 2 of us. Those many tables for 4 were never seated while we were there and we had to cramp into a table for 2. I can understand if the space is small but there were so many empty tables both inside and outside. Food was average but the service was slow and terrible. Will never go back again. It's a shame because the outdoor area is lovely and would have been a great place to spend the weekend.

Lovely place for authentic Thai food!! Green Curry and Basil Chicken a must try.

I’ve been coming here for two years every week for lunch specials. It is with the best Thai food in Sydney and at great value. If you can’t handle chilli but still want a lot of flavour get the chilli jam chicken, or if you can handle the Thai chilli get the chilli basil chicken! New chef is a godsend. I sympathise with other negative reviews - sometimes a new waiter comes along with a bad attitude. Most of the staff are wonderful and friendly, who aren’t written about on here apparently

A tad more expensive that what we are used to. Not sure if it’s due to the suburb or just the way they are. You should know the prices on the menu at Zomato is not updated.

Anyway service is polite and food prep efficient enough. Had the Lychi Red Duck curry with the Tom Yam seafood soup and a helping of Pad See Yew.
The latter was not on the menu but they were happy enough to accomodate us. Former 2 dishes we ❤️ but the fried noodles so-so. Deco was cozy and very stylish.

Not somewhere I particularly drive to, but I am in the area I’ll drop by again.

Ordered chicken chilli basil stir fry - the chicken was well cooked, the flavours were good (4/5), the only part that I didn’t like was the rice, there were stains on the rice, maybe the rice was towards the bottom of the cooker. It just didn’t look good and appetising.

Will I go back: yes, I’ll give this place another go and will order their starters next time, I saw the other tables ordering them and the presentation of those dishes were amazing

A good quiet Thai place serving sumptuous curriee made from home-made pastes. Ordered Peppercorn red curry chicken curry with rice and man it was very delicious with over the top spice factor. I loved it but anyone outside from India beware of trying this dish as it can be quite spicy.

Went here for dinner. Entrées and mains were delicious. Had the sick duck pancake and deep fried crab meat balls, presentation were great and they both tasted delicious. For mains, we had the duck dish, panang chicken curry, beef with roti, squid & prawns dish & pork curry.
Prompt service however it felt rather uncomfortable when we were rushed throughout our dinner before everyone had finished. As each person finished their dishes, staff were quick to remove their dishes while everyone else at the table were still having dinner. Staff and management at Limelight might want to work on their courtesy in regards to this. Due to this, i have given a low rating of 3, otherwise it would have gotten a 4 easily.

My husband, daughter and I visited for breakfast. The place is very relaxing and you can go for a walk on the park after. The breakfast was avarage. There is no fresh juice and quite expensive. Friendly staff.
We also have order takeway coffee which took ages. Twice! So we have decided to have takeways coffee from other places. But to dine in worth it for the nice environment.

Visited for a lunch with office friends... Good quite place to have lunch, relax and enjoy just small walk away from CBD. Great food taste with quick service.

Great local gem with delicious food and reasonable prices. BUT be careful of the picking the level of spice as the medium is really REALLY hot!

This particular property has changed hands a few times over the years. It's in a bit of a solitary but pleasant location it's good to see its landed on its feet. We went here for a family dinner and weren't disappointed. All the food was lovely! One member was Coeliac and everything was catered for quite easily. Usually at an Asian restaurant they tend to be a bit grey only to find they were wrong when you get home....this wasn't the case. Standouts were the crispy pork in a tomato based sauce and the HOT/SPICY prawns which come in a coconut. This property was also BYO which is always a bonus!

Service was typical Thai whereby the service was efficient but discreet and very polite even to the farewell when we left.

As said, great to see this property finally be on a win, now for the locals to get behind it.

Great thai food and ambience for a reasonable price. My home is close to this restaurant and we frequently go there for breakfast or lunch and sometimes dinner. Their Coffee is amazingly good. Of all the thai places, I have been to , this restaurant serves the best thai food. I had given up on thai food since I have been to australia as the food served was sweet or had added sugar but the Quality of the food here is gr8, true to its menu. Staff is nice and courteous too and always welcoming with a warm smile.

Limelight cafe is easily worth your consideration if you like Thai and you happen to be around the North Shore area.

Negative comments are WAY off the mark. I have just returned home from Limelight and cannot believe the negative comments written previously. Friends recommended it and we loved it. Quiet. Great, friendly and fast service. A small bill compared to some of the more interesting local Thai restaurants. And GREAT food. Will definitely be going back. Yum desserts were an unexpected bonus.

Not very honest people. Took my wife here for her 69th birthday treat, the service was not good as our son had to wait ages for his food so ours was almost cold by the time his arrived.
Unfortunately worst was to come of the evening out at limelight as my wife left her cardigan/shawl there, when we phoned later we were told that the item was there and we could pick it up anytime. A few days later my son contacted them to confirm that the cardigan was still there and told them that it was an hours drive to get there. On arriving we were told by someone with 'Paul' on his shirt that it could not be found and to go away and phone back in a few days, our son did phone back only to be told that it has disappeared and would not be found so do not continue to call the restaurant.
My wife and i are on holiday from the UK and we return home in 2 weeks and this restaurant was the only disappointment in almost 3 months of our holiday in beautiful OZ,we have always enjoyed meeting Thai folk whether at home in the UK,in Australia or Thailand and to steal an aged persons cardigan (which was a birthday present) is disgraceful ....so our message to the staff of the Limelight is that YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES.

Not good. Had a work lunch here with 12 colleagues. The food was ok and the price is right, however the service was absolutely attrocious.
I'm fairly tolerant however these guys had a shocker. Some examples....had to ask for glasses and plates - entree's arrived without plates....Drinks were ordered which never arrived or took 10 mins - even though there were only 2 other tables in use in the restaurant. 2 of the lunch mains arrived when the rest of the table were finishing their meals.
They got the bill right, which i thought was amazing....no tip was forthcoming. Stay away

Food and Service. A good meal can be off-set by poor service. Limelight is a regular local based on good dishes, creatively presented. Its let down by poor and often rude staff, incorrect bills and general indifference to guests.

Could be really good, at the moment coasting along as there's no local competition..

Let down by poor service. I dont share the lurve fest. This place is Average thai fare, served up on big plate presentation. Very Heavy on presentation and don't expect anything more. Forced smiles and overrated, made worse by terribly inexperienced service. We have been to this restaurant in its previous incarnations under different management but service has never been this lacking. Service staff hovered and pretty much didn't even bother to approach us to take our drinks let alone the food order for almost 30 minutes. A bigger table behind us with guests arriving way later than us, had their orders taken and were already embarking on entrees by the time our drinks order were even taken. I would have kicked up a fuss at this point, if not for being in the presence of our overseas guest. We each ordered individual mains from their special menu, portions meant for sharing but not told to us when the orders were taken. When the food finally arrived after yet another long wait, the service staff didn't even know what to do next. She asked me if I wanted rice with my stir fried dish and was about to dollop it right onto the dish instead of a separate plate. Duh? Then our order for additional water, never arrived. For all that wait, the dishes were honestly pedestrian, except served in better cutleries and way overpriced. Dessert - forget it. The banana fritters was hardly Thai, think Easter Show concession stall sugar drizzled banana with a scoop of ice-cream and one stick biscuit thrown in. Wish i had taken a photo. At this point, it was time to just pay and leave. Disappointed.

Great service and food. Ate hear on a Friday night. They accommodated us without a booking and the service and decor were both excellent. The good was even better. Our wagyu beef was incredibly soft and all of our food arrived nice and hot.

Beautiful food - inside and out. Presentation, presentation. They sure know how to do it.
Simply a very good place to go for some delicious, rather reasonably priced Thai food in a stylish yet intimate setting. Perfect for dinner for two or a night out with friends.

Great atmosphere, fast takeaway, food is delicious and not overly sweet like a lot of Thai cuisine fakers. Plus prices are not too bad either.

My all-time favourite.. This place would have to be my all-time restaurant.

Ticks every box - the unique, secluded stone cottage setting with separate rooms, the outdoor area, furnishings, hanging baskets, ambient noise, lighting, music, seating... even the crockery is a cut above.
The staff are friendly yet professional. The pricing is reasonable. BYO is fine.

Oh yeah.. and the food!!! Exquisite, delicious and fresh.
As good Thai as I've had anywhere (including Thailand).

The best of everything, here. May Limelight be around forever...

Great atmosphere, great food with very classy presentation. The dessert menu wasn't very Thai but otherwise a fantastic restaurant.

Food is fantastic. Its not your average Thai food, it's a few steps above. Service can be a little slow sometimes but its never bothered me. Books out quick. The restaurant is beautiful and they they a fantastic versatile all day breakfast on weekends. Fab outdoor area to have it in also. Lots of papers and magazines. Highly recommend!

Superb service. I'm no thai cuisine aficionado, but to my palate the food, al fresco seating and a-rate service really impressed me
