Review Ribs & Burgers Neutral Bay - Neutral Bay

Niklas Hammarström
Finally got the test these ribs. The meat fell off the bone and they are indeed very juicy. But there are no flavours at all. Why not spice it up a bit more? I will keep on looking for good ribs these guys did not meet my expectations. The side sallad instead of chips was amazing and the staff was very serviceminded.

A friend of mine had eaten here before and highly praised the burgers so she suggested we go here for lunch together. I must say it was the best burger I have had for a long time. So tasty, meat flavourful and cooked to perfection. Their special pink sauce light and yummy not heavy like some mayonnaise is. We shared a serve of deliciously cooked chips, best I’ve had for awhile too. A nice array of beers and wines to choose too. Service was friendly and polite. I would definately lunch here again when I’m over this way from Ashfield where I live😊

Really good, non-greasy, flavoursome burgers. Chips are crispy and delicious. They are licensed with a selection of beers and wine available. Have come here multiple times, and would recommend.

Not what it used to be. We were one of the first to visit Ribs & Burgers in Neutral Bay when they opened years ago and remember founder Chad in the restaurant- it was great back then. Over the years it's been a slow decline in quality to the point where we've now decided not go back. It's become average and generic food that has nothing of taste and quality that it once was.

Absolutely loved this place! The staff were super friendly, the ambiance was great and the meat just came off the bone! Great service and excellent food!

What was once one of the better burgers in the area is no longer. Messy burgers made without a care in the world. Staff to busy playing handsies with one another to serve in a timely manner.

I can highly recommend The Loaded lunch I had it take away . $15 very reasonable the food was fantastic staff were very friendly place is clean and tidy .definitely will get the lunch special again. The need cheese burger is top notch. Fries are crispy out side and did in the middle.

Came here for a Fri night bite with my husband and we ordered: 1. Milo Thickshake 2. Baby Back BBQ Pork Ribs with chips 3. Wagyu Burger with a fried egg 4. Extra side of chips All dishes were cooked perfectly with the ribs being tender and full of flavour. The thickshakes never fail to disappoint and I’ve only tried the Milo & Vanilla Malt flavours and love them both! So thick and creamy, just like drinking ice-cream! The crunchy pearls on top are always a big highlight! My husband’s Wagyu burger was perfect with the addition of the egg and the chips were crunchy and not at all soggy. Service was fantastic that night. Wait staff were attentive and fulfilled all requests quickly and the food came flying out very quickly too. The only downside was they didn’t clean our table quick enough the moment we finished so we were left there staring at our own mess for a while. I think they only clear tables once you leave. I also love that there’s a hand basin there for you to wash your hands along with the condiments that are available for your convenience such as extra sauces, toothpicks & etc. The decor and ambience in this restaurant is rustic diner especially with all the bench tables up the back. You feel that it’s a place that’s very suitable for groups and families. Will definitely return!

We ordered for three burger. We felt that the bun was dry and its was bit burnt. Frankly saying i had amazing burgers than this with cheaper cost and they are delicious. But anyways i find ribs and burger to be an average place for burgers and quite expensive.

beef burger was soggy and fat ridden, disgusting, made me sick, threw it out. never go there again. finished with my business. waste of my money

Went in for a quick family dinner. We shared the lamb and beef ribs. Both delicious and well cooked. Hubby ordered a burger and enjoyed. Chips were super crunchy and salads were good! Great family restaurant.

The food was very nice but a bit simplistic for me. food arrived very quickly and was beyond filling. Must say the ribs were spot on though. Would give it all over 3.5/5

Ok. VERY small burger for $9.5 for 1 slider and $37.50 for a small rack. Im use to BBQ Smokin which would leave 2 people stuffed for the $50+ Tasty for sure but damn expensive for what you get. Also thought the ribs would have some kind of sauce. Had to whip up a cheese and tomato jaffle as me and b/f were still hungry. Would get it again if I was feeling boujie and ordered a lot more.

First time Ive been here. If you come you have to get the onion rings. They use real onions and they are really crispy. Dont order the $2 sauces. They have free sauces on each table. Chips come in really large servings so think again if you want to order extra chips with your meal.

We ordered the babyback ribs as well as the dinosaur ribs. Dinosaur ribs have more of a smokey flavour which I prefer. The baby back ribs were smaller but was also full of flavour.

I recommend dinosaur ribs😍

We randomly chose this restaurant and we ordered pork ribs (pork baby back), chips and chilli chicken wings. The pork ribs were really delicious, the meat was tender and tasty. You don’t actually need to add any extra dipping sauce to enhance flavours. As I like to eat super spicy food, the chilli chicken wings were not too spicy for me, but it was spicy enough to make me happy : 3

Yummmmm Yumm Yumm....I'm not normally a major fan of ribs so I actually ordered the salmon but stole half the ribs from a friend after I had tasted hers. Recommended to anyone...will not disappoint.

Fast, efficient service, delicious burgers, crunchy fries, succulent ribs and a menu with great variety and vegan options! Winning on all fronts! Chose the Aussie Burger (w beetroot, egg, pineapple), the Old School Cheese and the Veggie Stack with tasty mushrooms! Totally delicious, juicy and satisfying! Will definitely return!
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Remembering my 2013 visit to Ribs & Burgers in Neutral Bay with reasonable fondness, I popped back in earlier this week for a dinner with a South African mate. He likes this spot because it tastes like home, but he was still surprised to find out it’s the entry-level outlet for the South African-run Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group, who also own Meat & Wine Co. We’re all here for eight-hour slow cooked ribs, which we try in two different varieties. The boys go for the Pork Baby Back Ribs ($34.90/large) with chips.I hit up the Pork St Louis Ribs ($19.90) and received a free upsize to large, opting for the apple cabbage salad. This side salad combines chunky red cabbage, apple, pine nuts and herbs in a vinaigrette. We also order some Crispy Onion Rings ($5.90) on the side, which arrive with our meals, though the chips and salad are nowhere to be seen. While staff were friendly and rectified the error upon prompting, it would have been nicer to eat our whole meal together. Overall I detected a big slump in quality – the...

Food: Baby back pork ribs - excellent. Meat were juicy and full of flavour.
Ambience: was good, quiet place.
Service: excellent, its 4 out of 5 for me.

I love this place. The food and the staff are awesome. Can't get enough ribs n burgers! Everything is good on the menu, good range of choices too
PB
Disappointing! Ribs were dry , onion rings were thin straws of onion like they'd reached the bottom of the bag! Burgers although thick pattie - unseasoned and Luke warm ! Went home in satisfied and then ill within 2 hours of eating this! Would have been better going to Grill'd! Beware !

Love the ribs here although not as big as other franchises (ie hurricanes)

The burger is interesting, lots of sayce to go with the burger and full of flavour but i feel it doesnt quite hit the spot in terms of filling you up, super delicious though

Definately recommend
Elena
We tried the rib burger and a rack of ribs with sliders. Food was OK but nothing outstanding. Ribs didn't have much of a flavor and the same goes for the rib burger. Atmosphere were nice, good music, nice food presentation.

Nice patties in their beef burger. Bf had short rib which was delicious! Pretty quick service. Those are all the pros - burgers are small tho. Was used to the mammoth servings they give at Burger Fuel, and Grill'd and Moo Burger.. Pretty much everywhere else. Small burgers for the $10+ price!!

I like a good burger every now and again. Ribs and burgers are good and I definitely prefer them over the other burger chains. They've dunked up their menu and offer some healthy options which are great. I had the my burger bunless. We also ordered some onion rings but they were super oily.

We went to this place by chance, as we actually wanted Grill'd but saw people sitting outside of this place and it looked cute. Yum! great ribs and burgers. Chips to die for. Casual place and laid back, order at the counter, grab a beer, sit at a table and wait for the goodness. I had baby back ribs.. yeah baby! Def worth checking out.

Posted on May 20, 2015 by Laura @ Feast Wisely Leave a comment I’m a huge fan of cooking ribs at home – they’re such a tasty cut of meat. Typically I’ll marinade the ribs in spices and/or seasoning and slow cook them for a good 3-4 hours. My husband, as you can imagine, will literally rush home from work knowing that pork ribs or lamb ribs are waiting for him. So, when I found out that Ribs & Burgers sources high quality grass-fed meats and supports local farmers I was interested. And after reading that when it comes to the ribs ‘’no effort is spared to prepare these beauties’’ I had to try them. Ribs and Burgers now has over 10 branches across Australia, mainly in New South Wales and Victoria. I visited my local branch in Neutral Bay, which also happens to be the founding branch. It’s located just off Military Road moments away from The Oaks Hotel. Ribs & Burgers is intended to feel like a restaurant started by your local butcher, and they speak to this with everything from the vintage butcher photography hanging from the walls to the bold statements printed on the walls. They’re the pre-feast signs that this is no ordinary ribs or burger joint. Inside a giant blackboard menu covers everything from ribs and burgers (as you’d expect) to salads, sides, kids dishes and more. Early on a Saturday evening almost every table was full – a mix of families, couple and friends. We scored one of the cosy booths towards the back of the restaurant. You place your order at the counter, grab a table and then wait for your food to arrive. The drinks menu includes beers, wines and more so you can enjoy a drink, perhaps snacking on their moorish onion rings as a snack, whilst your food is prepared. The first dish I tried was

Finally a $7 thickshake that's actually decent. Milo is good and apple crumble reminds us of the one at the Burger Counter. They have sneakily reduced the size of the cup but still worth it.

The beef rib burger is also worth eating.

I love restaurants that give you a glimpse into the kitchen. Shows like E.R. and Grey’s Anatomy had killer ratings because people who worked outside of the medical field were deeply curious as to how everything went down. I would happily watch a reality show dedicated to following the lives of burger chefs and waiters. Wouldn’t ‘I need a Wagyu burger pronto!’ become the new ‘we’re losing the patient, doc!’
Inadizzle
Opting for the Korean style cut, there's a tug of war between beef and pork ribs and was I glad we yielded towards the former! Though I'd always jump at an instinct of getting down and dirty with a standard rack of pork ribs, this was a welcome change. It was easier to eat because of the almost bacon-thin strips without stealing the invaluable experience of licking the bones and your fingers clean. It tasted perfectly sweet and spicy moreover, you could smell the char as you scarfed down each cut! It was a testimony to their description. Don't you just love honesty?
Confessions Of A Glutton
Sticky, meaty and tender, the sauce was smoky and tangy – delicious. I was quite thankful there was not only a massive stack of paper napkins but also a sink of all things in the middle of the restaurant for you to wash your hands; how thoughtful and considerate! I polished off three-quarters of the rack as a solo effort; I was preeeetty impressed with myself, to be honest

On this visit we felt like ribs but feeling a bit cheap opted for the riblets instead of the proper ribs. Take count of how many bro dates are happening around you.
Excuse Me Waiter
One of the meatiest and tastiest casual dining chains is Ribs & Burgers, serving up a huge selection of burgers and ribs at affordable prices across Sydney. Today we’re visiting their original branch which is tucked away on a back street just off the main Military Rd surrounded by a plethora of restaurants. I’ve been to quite a few restaurants in the Neutral Bay area and have passed Ribs & Burgers a few times. What’s noticeable right away is that the environment is very casual – no bookings, just walk-ins. Simply go to the counter, order off the menu and you’ll get given a table number.

As the name suggests, they specialise in both ribs and burgers. Neutral Bay is not an area I go very often, for one I hate the parking situation there but thankfully we found parking easily. There are a number of new restaurants in Neutral Bay – it has definitely been a while since my last visit that I didn’t even know about this place. There’s a large blackboard displaying the menu at the front of the order, whilst I perused the menu, the others went to find somewhere to sit. Everything on the menu sounded good, I wanted a burger AND ribs! Both F and Dad couldn’t go past the original – primal cut beef mince patty, grilled, basted and served on a freshly baked sesame seed bun with iceberg lettuce, tomat

The lamb rib is incredible. Rich charcoal flavour and the meat just fall off the bone! Big serving... Excellent value for all ya rib cravings!

Where's the sauce?. We dine often here but on the last occasion i had ordered a couple of burgers and lamb ribs which were not basted and had no sauce on it. The burgers were great but the night could have been better for me if the ribs had the nice tangy sauce which they normally do.
Boofsta27
There's better rack's out there. We had pork ribs, chicken wings (chilli) and onion rings. The wings were ok, frank's hot sauce would have been a better marinade option. The onion rings were average, a little thinly cut but didn't taste terrible and then there were the ribs, tender I must say but not an overly large portion and needed more juicy meaty sauce to dribble over the chips.

One of the quirky aspect was the white wine served in a water glass, they had us guessing from the start.

One raw mini burger but usually good. We visit here once or so a month.

Usually really good food (American Cheeseburger is really good,Ribs also delicious). Agree with other users though that the service is a bit lacking at times.

Most recent visit though spoiled by a raw mini burger. When we pointed it out, the waitress told us that "in her opinion it is medium". Seriously, if that's the case then Woolworths packages beef mince medium. She eventually admitted it was raw and her and the chefs apologised (we can understand a mistake, just don't deny the obvious and pretend customers are stupid - it annoys people). We'll go back, but service like this needs to be fixed quickly.

Sensational restaurant. Either lunch or dinner. Quick business or family outing. Great Ribs, yummy burgers & best chips ever. Takeaway is fast and fresh.

HORRIBLE SERVICE.. What an absolute disgrace!!! We came and stood at the counter waiting for someone to serve us. The waitress behind the counter was on the phone to another customer whilst the other employees were talking amongst themselves. Made our order and 30 mins later the group who ordered before us was already half way through their meals. We noticed a couple who came in before us was STILL waiting for their meals. We asked the waitress the ETA and it was very clear they had missed our order. We asked for our money back and left. And all they could say was sorry. Not even offering any sort of compensation for their failed service. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL!!!

Love the mini burgers. If you are coming to this place for the first time check out the mini burgers they are delicious :)

Best burgers in Oz by far, fresh produce and cooked to perfection. The ribs are also fantastic and the pork riblets are great value if you're not a big eater. Delicious chips, chicken wings and salad. As for that 'pink sauce', mmmmm. As a secret American cheese addict, I was so excited when they added it to the menu.

Only small improvement would be to grill the onions rather than serve them raw on the burgers, but that is minor.

Great burger - my wife enjoyed the salad with Salmon - finally a burger place I can take my wife to!!!

Unimpressed.. I came here with my son after reading a scathing review about another venue (which i had a thoroughly decent meal at), which recommended that i came here instead. i can only assume that the person who wrote the bad review of the other restaurant owns this place, as my experience here was woeful.

i informed the staff of severe allergies and weren't taken seriously... some 40 mins after ordering, with a six month old baby, my food arrived, complete with the items i had informed staff i was allergic to. i told the waitress of the error and she took my food back to the kitchen abruptly, only to deliver it back to my table 3 mins later. i told her that it was not possible to make an entire meal in that time and that i didn't believe that my meal was free of the items i'd informed her that i couldn't eat. she rolled her eyes and then came back with a replacement meal around 20 mins later.

the food was passable, yet not delicious. shame that it takes one hour to get a burger. we left within 5 mins, were ignored on our way out and won't be in a rush to return.

Once bitten, twice shy... Not a place for groups as the booths only seat 4 people. I understand everything is made fresh, though 40 mins for my burger was little disappointing. $30 for beef burger, side of chips & a drink... not a big eater, but could have done with much bigger portions (esp if I'm paying $30 for a burger meal). The taste was very nice, though I cant justify waiting that long & paying that much for a burger meal. My partner liked the ribs, though he felt it could def be bigger also. To try again... not to sure.

Local hamburger joint. Too tired to cook? Then this is a good place to go. As one of the better value for money places on Grosvenor it serves up a pretty mean burger. Don't know about the ribs as I haven't tried those. Salads and slaw are delish. And the fries are some of the best in the business, just crispy perfect. They also sport a nice selection of smaller brand beers and olde fashioned drinks & sodas. Decor quite nice, too: love the meat grinders and overall butcher feel.
What could they improve on? Speed of service and most importantly their signature sauces (both pretty awful) but thank goodness they have a separate condiment table with regular old mustard, ketchup and co. Stickiness of table surfaces: you might just get your elbows stuck. Wipe them tables down!

Best Burgers. The Wagyu Beef Burger is possibly the best in Sydney. So succulent and you can taste the freshness of the ingredients.
I also really love the Veggie Burgers (with halloumi and portobello mushroom). The onion rings are thin and crispy - so delicious!
Great for the whole family. 10/10

Good fun dinner place. Eaten here twice...once was take away. I like the burgers here..pretty good both times Ive been. The chips are nice, the cabbage salads too, and the ribs are tasty though the last time they were a little too burnt on the bottom.
Its a kind of 'theme' joint...great family place...and an easy meal out..though the queues can be a drag if you're hungry. I reckon its a 7/10 all up.

If you fancy some shoe leather, go eat here. Although we hadn't planned on going out we decided to try Ribs and Burgers on their first birthday attracted by their $2 burger special. We checked the website before leaving home and no terms were specified but naturally when we arrived at 6.30pm and queued for 10 minutes we were told the offer had closed at 6pm. We ordered anyway paid nearly $40 and then waited and waited and waited for our 3 burgers, salad and 2 drinks. After 40 or minutes we were starving and finally our burgers arrived - although one was missing and we ended up having to share. I have to say that as someone who never sets foot in McDonalds, their product is far superior. These burgers were literally like eating shoe leather. McDonalds is also cleaner and at least they occasionally wipe the tables down.

This restaurant lacks staff presence you place your order at the counter and wait for your food to arrive. Help yourself to tap water no bottles of cold water put on the table no sauces again help yourself from a shelf in the corner. Food standard middle of the road and portion size small to medium. The let down for this restaurant is no fries with the burgers you pay extra. One visit only for me! This restaurant will need to lift its game to win customers back.

Nice burgers. Love the Bacon & cheese. The burger is nicely charred on the outside and the burger is cooked a medium slightly pink in the middle (the way it should be). You do not need to jump on the waygu bandwagon either as the standard burger meat is great. Chips are good too.

Go to Hungry Jacks. We spent $36 for a Lamb and Hawaiian Burger with one medium chips. The burgers were small and when compared to the $14 we would have spent at a fast food restaurant we were underwhelmed with the bland taste and size. The $6 medium chips would have been put to shame by a small McDonalds fries. Don't waste your time (25mins for take away order) or money.
Zac
Don't bother with this place. Really liked the look of the place - until we ordered. Our takeaway order took 57mins. We weren't in a rush, so I wasn't too concerned until I got home and found what our $100 had got us. The ribs were dry and bland, and the quantity small. My suggestion - go to Hurricane's. The ribs there are awesome and if you're hungry, a half rack of ribs at Hurricane's is about the size of a full rack at Ribs & Burgers. I give it a 2 out of 10.

So I finally got to dine at ribs & burgers. Really not sure why I was looking forward to it as I ended up being sorely disappointed. I ordered the chicken burger at $14 and a measly small side of chips which was a further $4 and beer for $9. So all up $27.
Chips came out first and were okay but the size for $4, they weren't that good. Then the burger came out. I'm not saying I need a lot of food but if I'm ordering a $14 burger I want it to be so big and delish that I can barely finish it. It was tiny. Really I think the place has potential as its an enticing place. I mean who doesn't love burgers and ribs. But it's too expensive for the sizing and taste. Really nothing special. Won't go back.
Namboy
Dont know what the 'beef' is with some of the reviews. Its not quay, nor does it pretend to be. Good burgers, better ribs, at slight premium prices but you get a great product. It's an eatery and what you see is what you get, damn good burgers!
Bill
Beer way over priced, good chips however a restaurant with the word "burger" in it, OMG. Small and not very hot. Tasted ok but their basic burger was the same size as burger I would expect from Mc Donalds. Really if your going to do burgers as 50% of your business than make them spectacular. Make everything from scratch make it big or at least include a side of chips.
My girlfriend and I felt a bit ripped off and we were so looking forward to going there too. I give it 2 out of 5 hadburger patties.
Never to return.

Best Burger I've Tasted in the Lower North Shore. Part of the revitalised Grosvenor Street Neutral Bay, this a cool butcher themed casual restaurant, with a walk-in gallery display of meat grinders and a giant chalkboard menu. Took away. These burgers were pretty good. The patties are all meat, served medium, possibly a mixture of chuck and better cuts, basted with barbecue sauce and cooked over a grill. The result is pretty good, with a good crust to the patty. Bread, sauce and pickles are also pretty good, though I'd prefer a bun that was softer and not so much that of

Verdict: Barbecue sauce on a burger can be good, but it can drown out everything else, and I would have liked to taste more beef and really see how good the patty was. All in all, I liked it, but I'm judging it according to the traditional cheese, pickle, relish, ketchup and MEAT!

Score: 70/100 [Reference: In-N-Out is a 90]
Value: Alright, for $11-13, good would include fries for $1 or 2 more.
Time of Visit: Autumn 2012
Number of Visit(s): 1

Rubbish! Ordered wagyu burgers and chips. Chips were burned to a crisp. And sent them back only to be screamed at by one of the kitchen hands who shouted 'burnt, they are not burnt' I had to shout back to say. I'm the customer mate. And he shut up. Then we looked at the wagyu burgers and they were charred to black, the meat was grisly and no flavor and hard. No salt or pepper on table and just downright shambolic. Run by amateurs. Avoid at all cost!

BBQ Chicken burger was average - not spectacular burgers; overall ingredients were just better than say, hungry jacks burgers...quite overrated. Chips were very good though. Wouldn't return.

Great burgers. Well priced. This place is great. If you are after a burger or ribs place. Very much worth checking out. Staff are great
