Review Chaos Cafe - Neutral Bay

Hemal Wickramasinghe
Been here a few times now, and the food and service never seem to disappoint! You've got indoor and outdoor seating, and plenty of parking (can get a little difficult on the weekends). On our last visit, for drinks we had a caramel milkshake, mango smoothie (was nice and thick). And for food we had the bacon brekkie wrap and knafeh french toast. All of which I highly recommend! Hit a like if this review was helpful.

Have been a massive supporter of this place for over 3 years, mainly because of the coffee which was the best on this side of town by far. However it has gone downhill. Have given them many chances to redeem themselves as I know its been tough to get and retain staff etc. But if you expect loyal customers to continue to return you need to maintain the quality product that got them coming back in the first place. Will try and support again but the coffee is terrible.

We love this little hidden gem for their breakfast, coffee and service. During the lockdown, Saturday mornings called for Smashed Avo on Sourdough with fetta, cherry tomato, sauteed mushroom, beetroot relish, and dukkha – absolutely delicious! Will be back soon for a dine in experience now!

First and last time! The protein pancakes tasted awful, and we have eaten protein pancakes elsewhere before. They tasted sour and like raw batter. The lady behind the register said that they were fine, and still charged us for them. It's a shame that the first time we go there, we had a bad experience, and will never be going back there again.

Now this place I absolutely love! One of the first recommendations I received when I moved into the area. Has even exceeded expectations. Friendly staff, good food, great coffee, decent seating area, both indoors and outdoors.

Tucked away just off the main street of Neutral Bay is this little cafe. Fairly decent selection of dishes which would be sure to please most. Admittedly very uninspired and the same as almost every other cafe in Sydney (fairy floss on french toast, for example). The food was average, nothing really stood out to make it worth the trip if you don’t already live close by.

My experience was pretty in line with everyone else posting here. It’s actually a very good spot for breakfast. Good food and good prices. Atmosphere is alright. It can get really busy, but I think that’s just a testament to the quality. If you are around Neutral Bay, hit this place up.

we stopped in for lunch over the weekend ,Nice atmosphere. Big breakfast was a shame. Sausages and bacon were cooked poorly, for the first time in my life the waitress collected my plate with the bacon untouched. The smashed avocado was off and sour.Really disappointing , cafe occupies such a fabulous location .We love to see a better one open in Chaos's spot.

It was amazing. A true peaceful sanctuary. Many services offered and beautiful gifts with no pressure to buy anything. A superb chill out zone just amazing! Highly recommend!

Was not impressed at all, not good quality food and amateur. Would not recommend this place

It is very nice food, the fish burger is amazing, tasty. The only thing is if can clean the cutlery and cups properly would be perfect.

I was a really big fan, Chaos pre reno it had lots of character and fantastic waited all week for corn fritters Sunday brunch! Today post reno I have to say I was very disappointed. The charm and character with white walls and a few coloured cafe chairs just doesn't cut it. Functionally the space was difficult with the position of the coffee machine, counter and till proving problematic with a bottle neck for passage, drink service and paying all colliding. Maybe I could have forgiven all the other shortcomings if I had found the new grilled corn fritters fantastic but sadly this was also a fail, my corn fritter was an odd small pancake style fritter that taste was completely lost without adding salt. I am going to give this just a pass, the coffee was very good. The question is will I be back? sadly I will have to say for myself no, but try for yourself, it's only my humble opinion. Sorry team Chaos!

Alternative cafes are totally a thing of today, with smashed avo, exotic smoothies and gluton free granola weaving their way onto quirked menus across Sydney. Whatever happened to KISS? Chaos is not short of their own quirks with artsie chairs and a decor which is full of colour but they abide by the rules of not over complicating and doing things well. All I asked for was poached eggs, salmon, avo and tomato but in turn, I recieved a breakfast masterclass, devinely presented. Everything I ate was cooked and prepared perfectly which makes me think other cafes can learn a lot from Chaos simply by being simple. Keep It Simple, Stupid? I hope other breakky joints are listening.

Amazing corn fritters and coffee. Great service everytime!! ☕️

Very generous servings

Welcoming spot with outside tables in the shopping hub of Neutral Bay, this cafe does a roaring trade.
The service is attentive and the coffee (Toby Estate) comes rich and creamy.
I had the Breakfast Hash which is both plentiful and beautifully balanced acidity of the roasted cherry and richness of the chorizo and bacon atop a crunch sourdough base.
Will call back to try something else another time.

We were on our way to Mosman and were getting hungry so stopped by this cafe as it was the right time for brunch. It was quite busy as it was a lovely day out and managed to nab an outside table. The service was pleasant and helpful.

I had the Pot Hash which was a combination of bacon, kale, chorizo, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and potato on sourdough. Anita had the Açai Bowl. We shared the Bowl Of Rustic Sweet Potato Wedges With Aioli. The portion sizes are massive here. My dish was tasty with lots of crunch and was extremely filling. I forgot there was no egg in the dish as I had craved it but didn’t miss there wasn’t any. The açai was also delicious. We really loved the sweet potato as super crunchy with a tender pillowy middle. The Mango, Passionfruit And Orange Frappe hit the spot.

Saturday brunch enjoyed at Chaos Cafe with hubby. We tried a Lamb Wrap which was filled with some beans, delicious lamb, vinegared radish, tomatoes and lettuce. As far as wraps go, I think it was delish but very wet and soggy by the end of it! It was accompanied by chips which were freshly cooked and crisp.
Also had the beef tacos, I think I like the idea of the healthier taco crisps but they needed more crunch.
We took advantage of the entertainment book discount and saved $10.
Thank you for wonderful service and food.

| Neutral Bay | Chaos Cafe | The place to be with friends on a sunny weekend, the locals and staff here is happy and friendly. The menu here is also inviting with lots of choices too. This cafe has nice interior as well as spacious outdoor seating. I simply love the service and food provided here.
.
.
🥛🥞 Buttermilk Pancakes - One of the thing I liked about this dish is the milkiness of the pancakes. One of my favourite dish, it is soft, sweet and fluffy with lots of seasonal fruits. Delicious 😋
.
🍭🍞 French Toast - One of the most presentable dish I’ve had so far! Its got nice sweetness of the toast from the mouse and chocolate crumbles to it which is balanced out by the fresh fruits included. Yumm 😋😋😋
.
🥑🌮🔥 Beef Nachoes - My savoury favourite! Its not a nice servings of the guacamole, spiced beef mince and nachoes. Salsa in it tasted superb. This one has my name written all over it 😆👌👌
.
🐟🥑🥚 🍄 Breakfast Stack - What I really like about this dish is that it has generous serving of the smoked salmon, nicely poached eggs with a large Portobello mushroom and how simple it looks but pack with flavour. Instant favourite 💯
.
🍓🍒🍊 Mixed Berries, Blueberries, Mango and Passionfruit Smoothies - So nicely presented and also packed with great refreshing flavour that is perfect for this weather. Cant help but nearly finish all of it.😛
.
Thank you chaos.cafe for the delicious brunch.

🍭✨ FRESH, VIBRANT AND TASTY ✨🍭
.
.
🆁🅴🆅🅸🅴🆆: I’ve always loved neutral bay, where the vibe is refreshing and the locals are friendly! This cosy cafe has a variety of outdoor seating, perfect for the warmer months coming! The service was organised and impeccable and I could tell that each and every dish was made with lots of attention and care 👌
.
.
🍞 french toast: I was so in love with the banana mousse, which was balanced out with the fresh citrus from the oranges and a nice chocolate crumb .
🐮 beef nachos: large generous serving of guac my friends and I absolutely enjoyed the fresh tomato salsa, in fact this is how I normally cook my nachos at home! .
🥞 buttermilk pancakes: light and fluffy soft pancakes .
🥚 breakfast stack w/ salmon: great amount of smoked salmon and loved the portobellos mushrooms used instead of bread which makes it a perfect low-carb option here!
.
🥤 blueberry, mixed berries, mango & passionfruit and mango smoothies (I may have drank nearly the whole glass) 😋
.
.
📍 ⓒⓗⓐⓞⓢ ⓒⓐⓕⓔ
.
.
Thank you @chaos.cafe for having me! 💕

We’ve tried this cafe 3 times now, and it’s a bit hit and miss. Coffee is good. I ordered the brioche French toast this morning and it was delicious, but such a small serving (just 1 very small thin piece of bread). My husband ordered the eggs Benedict and the portion was also small with very ordinary bread, and the hollandaise sauce was watery. I probably will try again, but they need to improve portion sizes for the prices they charge, and better bread would make such a difference.

The food here is horrible. Atmosphere is terrible too - decor is bad and looks out into car park. There are so many better options around, don't waste your time and money!

I always feel at home here the staff are so warm and welcoming, they serve delicious Toby's estate coffee and have an amazing breakfast menu ... Always busy this place is chaos

Chaos Cafe is a typical neighbourhood cafe. We stopped by for coffee and some dessert, having just finished lunch. It was pretty dark inside so I'd recommend an outdoor table of the weather permits. They use Toby's Estate beans and my skim cap was quite nice. Unfortunately the cakes and pastries didn't look very fresh. We finally settled on the mango and coconut bread, Nutella doughnut and a Portuguese egg tart. These were sourced externally and weren't memorable either way. While staff were friendly, service was a bit haphazard. They mixed up our drinks and the waitress served us a latte, calling it a cappuccino. Even though it was in a latte cup.

i live in the area and this cafe used to be quite nice. I went there last Sunday and OMG, disastrous. First of all, i order a juice (nudie) and i can absolutely guarantee it wasn't nudie brand but a cheap one. (i buy nudie juice every single day and i know the taste). My husband breakfast and mine was just average, cold and with low quality ingredients. I ordered the eggs Benedict with ham and my husband just an BER.
Have to say the staff was nice, though. But NOT ENOUGH. Never come back again.

Cute little cafe tucked behind Military Rd. Service friendly can't complain! Food portion sizes were very generous but quality was average. Eggs benny was ok but have had better. Also got the brekky wrap where the jalapeño relish was overwhelming. Saw another table had the bacon hash dish which looked good! Might try again, may have ordered the wrong thing!

Did not envisage that corn fritters could be so good!!!!! This place is always on point with everything they do. The only thing they could do better is if they dress the rocket that comes with the corn fritters. Such a small thing. The staff are lovely and the consistency of quality is impressive. Get into chaos on a weekend and wake up to goodness!!!!

This is a family friendly cafe that serves breakfast all day with good service, big portions and affordable price but food is distinctly average and the decor is dated.

Woeful!. Worst breakfast Ive ever had... If you want cold pancakes and tasteless food then go here! Ordered pancakes that came out cold, said it came with ice cream and it didn't,I asked for something else instead which they were fine about I got a breakky wrap that was tasteless and just crap! The coffee is good but that's it... Not sure where all the good reviews came from! I'm not one to ever write a review but felt I had to with this terrible experience!

Chaos Cafe is discretely tucked away behind the Neutral Bay shops. Apparently it is well-known for it gigantic servings and fantastic good coffee...The waitstaff was very friendly and informed us that it was Chaos Cafe's most popular signature dish - the Corn Fritters and he highly recommended it for first-timer.

Chaos Cafe is tucked away behind Military Road on Grovesnor Lane. It has a quirky and fun style with very friendly service. They renowned for their large serving sizes, so bring your appetite!

Chaos Cafe is serving up reasonably priced GIANT meals. I ordered a Moroccan Spiced Lamb Salad which was suppose to come with spiced lamb fillet, roasted vegetables, cous cous, pistachios, mixed leaves and a citrus mayo. This salad was enormous and came with avocado, chickpeas and capsicum too (luckily I like all of these additions). At least a half a cup of pistachios, a reasonable serving of lamb fillet, and the rest, were piled high in the bowl and I was lucky to get through half of it I suspect. Unfortunate to say, bigger isn’t always better, but it was good enough I guess. The coffee roast and execution were a little to be desired (for my tastes at least). I will give them a massive thumbs up for service and ambiance though. One girl was taking care of the whole front of house, while we were there, and did an excellent job prioritising

So, our second visit to Chaos was great! They serve generous sized helpings for decent prices, make a mean Chai latte, and the colorful experience will brighten up any rainy Sunday morning. Recommended!

The steaming-hot chicken is served between toasted tortillas, hot melted cheese drawing out the slight spicyness of the chicken pieces as it melds with the tortilla. A side of mango coriander salsa on green vegetables and diced tomatoes is a refreshing contrast to the chilli chicken; the ice cold sweetness of the fresh mango was divine. The only thing missing would maybe be a dash of guacamole

We've been here once before for a brunch that was very tasty and not too pricey. There aren't that many places around the Cremorne/ Neutral Bay/ Mosman area that fulfill all the requirements of being cheap, tasty and funky or a little bit interesting in some way. Chaos fulfills all of these requirements. I love the crazy mosaic on the floor and the brightly painted chairs. It's airy and always packed by regulars. I ordered the chicken burritos (beef is also available). The filling was extremely tasty, with just the right amount of chilli. The crispness of the outside of the burrito and the softness of the inside contrasted nicely to the fresh guacamole and salad. It was just what I was in the mood for. Some Mexican food can be a bit stodgy, with too much cheese, sour cream and no side salad. I was very happy that my meal was none of these. The boy ordered the chipotele quaesidillas. These were also served alongside a fresh side salad, with a mango chutney on top of it, which I really e

Chaos killed the Club Sandwhich. If you want a Club Sandwich, don't go to Chaos Cafe....they killed it. When you order a Club Sandwich, you expect a Club Sandwich, not somebody's interpretation of it.......booo

Heard good things about this place. Ordered the corn fritters which where just deep fried balls of gloop. My partner ordered the potato got pot which was better but had quite a lot of oil on it. Service was good. Overall average cafe
Food
Delicious. Really enjoyed our meal n highly recommend this cafe to all. large quantities n really tasty

Terrible food. Tasteless and thrown together. Menu said drink was blend of 'fresh' fruit and I watched as the poured cheap bottled juice into the blender. The beetroot salad tasted like it came out of a tin. Service was terrible. Never going back.

Disgusting. The "scrambled special" looked and tasted like a dogs breakfast. Why do people who can't cook insist on going into business?! Or better still, why don't they taste the food before putting it on the menu?! Lets do everyone a favour and close this god-awful place down.

Simple cheap large servings nice service

Overrated. The corn fritters were revolting - deep fried balls of claggy stodge. They stank - had been fried in very dirty oil, yuck, stale reused oil. Almost inedible. Scrambled eggs with fetta and capsicum were very tasty. Service is characterised by the name of this place - totally chaotic. This cafe is packed all weekend, every weekend, and there is always a queue to get a seat. Which makes me think , maybe I just hit chaos on a bad day....worth a second chance ????

A fun cheery cafe which is always busy and can get a bit cramped at times. The sun-dried tomato, feta and basil scrambled eggs are to die for. Service is always prompt and friendly, and the food has always been great. Perfect place to start the weekend.
