Review Wild Basket - Neutral Bay

Alastair Boast
Wild basket is a Neutral Bay staple, and had been serving up great food for several years. Fast and friendly service, get there early on the weekend as it gets busy.

Wild Basket isn't too bad, although I wasn't struck by anything as being particularly amazing. The service was quick and pleasant, although the coffee wasn't too memorable. I tried one of their open omelette specials with smoked salmon wilted spinach, zucchini and fetta with a side of sourdough toast. It was pretty good, very fresh and tasty, but nothing extraordinary. Perhaps the sandwiches that they have on offer for lunch are more impressive, however, what I tried was just alright.

Great! Fast service and delicious food. The espresso was excellent as was the chorizo and bacon. We're particularly happy that the produce is locally sourced. Our new local favourite.

It's ok. The service wasn't great, it took a really long time to get our coffees and breakfast. The people next to us waited double the time and were pretty unimpressed. Food was good, I think expensive for what you get but you're in Neutral Bay I guess. Chorizo was the highlight :)

The staff are extremely friendly and have been running this cafe for years consistently. Any of the sandwiches are among the best you'll find. Coffee is always consistently good.

After being a regular here for a year, today I had the displeasure of being yelled at by the owner when refilling our table water bottle. 2 of the staff members apologised on 2 separate occasions for the owners bad behaviour, explaining she was "having a bad week". I asked that the owner might apologise for her outburst, hoping she had composed herself and could turn the situation around. Unfortunately she refused. Hopefully you avoid the owner's "bad weeks" if you visit. All that said, the food is usually great and the other staff members are usually sweet, if a little under-the-pump. I won't be back.

One of the better places for brunch in Neutral Bay - if you can grab a table. Good coffee and tasty food. The omelettes from the special's board is usually good.

We visited at a very busy time so wait for food was about one hour. I mean I’m guessing it’s pretty busy every weekend so this happens every week?? I just don’t know how they would be able to change anything though. It’s an open kitchen and it is TINY, by tiny I mean you can only fit two people and that’s occupying the whole space. There are a fair few tables though, so plenty of customers to feed from that tiny kitchen. It was also a ridiculously hot summers day and there was no air con or fan, so everyone was melting away, especially the poor waitress who was going bright red from moving about and suffering the most.

When the food came out we were famished from the long wait so everything tasted great. It is still good food regardless, but nothing you can’t easily find at other cafes. I wouldn’t mind eating here again if need be, but only when it’s more quiet and relaxed.

Quaint little cafe. Right outside my apartment, had the green bowl and wife had the baked eggs. Green bowl was amazing first time I got interested in a bowl full of greens read broccoli. It was flavourful and delightful to eat. The baked eggs were good too but lacked salt. Coffee was divine. It was a sunny morning and a nice breakfast experience. Would definitely recommend it.

Nice cafe with a sunny outlook and has a very neighbourly atmosphere. Food is simple and tasty. Customer service is friendly. I highly recommend the pork burger.

Food was good though it took ages to come. The service from the girl behind the counter was less than average. Not a bad cafe but felt a bit disjointed there tbh like the staff were disinterested. Baked eggs were delicious though. Would have given better rating if the staff had been more friendly and less disinterested in service.
All in all ok cafe.

Great little cafe in Neutral Bay. I had breakfast at Wild Basket about two years ago, since then the food and presentation has improved. We had the a special breakfast plate, a tad too salty for my liking and a fruit and yogurt dish with eatable flowers - almost too pretty to eat. The best part, they have free wifi. I sat here for about 3hours today ordering coffees and the friendly staff didn't seem to mind at all.

Wild Basket is my favourite cafe in the north shore. I have been going here for over 2 years and the service has always been great, the food and coffee consistently high quality and the staff fantastic. :)

I've had breakfast a few times at Wild basket. And the best thing is that you get change from a $20 when you do. Which I find to be very rare these days. My go to is the avo toast with tomato and feta. It seems to change every time I do order it. Coffees are good but make sure you ask for the biggie (large) as the regular sized is the smallest coffee I've seen in my life. I would almost say it's a kids sized cup. The yoghurt is also pretty good. Sometimes the staff rush you out as there isn't much seating. So if you are looking for a relax long breakfast where you can sit and chat. It may not be the best place.

It was a nice set up, but this cafe is extremely overrated. Having healthy overpriced breakfast options does not make it a good cafe. I waited 30 minutes for my order which turned out to be avocado and chopped up tomato with the tiny sprinkle of feta toast. It also cost me $12. I could buy a loaf of bread, block of feta, while avocado and the whole tomato for that price.

I had purchased from Wild Basket in Neutral Bay. The staff assured me it would be fine for me to freeze the fresh pasta and save for another day. As much as I hate freezing things, the process surprisingly didn’t make a difference to the quality, texture or taste of the fresh pasta.

Duped by a nice set up, zero on customer service. Zero on customer service - inattentive, actively ignoring us, eye rolls, even chatting back when we asked to exchange our bitter coffees for juices or a refund. No, this is unacceptable. The customer comes first, like all successful businesses, not your petty four dollars.

My pick for breakfast in Neutral Bay. We come here often for breakfast (when we aren't at Bourke St Bakery nearby) as Wild Basket has great food and offers a simple modern menu.

Their specials are always delicious and the baked beans with chorizo dish is my husband's absolute favourite breakfast.

I really just wish they'd get a highchair!

Great food and coffee. Friendly service. Geta busy. They could do with some more tables maybe? Highly recommended.

Great little cafe and Deli shop. This is a great shop. Loads of specialist Australian products from olive oil to indigenous herb pastes and some of the country’s best cheeses and cold meats. Not to mention a unique selection of wines to match the treats on offer in this shop. Great to for gift's if you have foodie friends. Alternatively you can have one of the best coffees(definitely one of the best decafs!) in Neutral Bay and a bite to eat. All food is made from the ingredients that are available for sale (it's like try before you buy!) it's small menu, but delicious! Recommend the BLT or ploughman’s platter, out of this world.
