Review Blue Door Cafe - Newcastle

Kris
Chicken benny for breakfast was a mix of mouth watering flavours that sent my taste buds crazy in a great way. Beautiful mug of flat white and a sneaky side of chips šŸ¤— Great atmosphere and lovely accomodating waitressā€™ Thanks for a great start to my day šŸ˜Š

Use to love this cafe back in the day and would go most weekends. Iā€™ve only been a handful of times over the past two years due to COVID but today will absolutely be my last. As a party of 2 we waited almost 40 mins for coffees to come to our table after they had lost our order. The food and coffee was completely average at best and not at all the same quality that it use to be. The biggest change was the drop in service standard. The staff on the day we visited all seemed very young and inexperienced, while not rude they just didnā€™t have a level of attentiveness you would expect from a sit down cafe as we had to flag down staff to ask for table water, menus and also for our coffees to be delivered. Hope they can get the place back to its former glory, such a shame it has changed so much.

Service here was fine. They have variations on your standard breakfast and brunch menu items which are somewhat enticing but failed to deliver IMO (chicken bennie). On another day got the acai bowl and that was pretty neat.

Made a booking for 4ppl, but there wasn't enough seats at the table they had set aside for us. When they took our drinks order they completely missed the first drink we ordered and it ended up arriving half way through our meal 20mins after our coffees had arrived. The food came out in a timely manner even though they were busy; and it was delicious! It was also well presented and good portion sizes. The staff were friendly even if a few seemed a bit green (not sure how long they've been open, it's been a while since we've ventured into Newcastle). And when we were leaving they discounted the late drink off. Would definitely come back!

Great balance of flavours in the nasi Goreng with just the right amount of spice. However would've liked a bit more lamb considering it was a $4.50 add on

A grest place to have breakfast when you are in Newcastle. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They serve healthy food that tasted great. The portions are also in good sizes. Customers can choose to dine inside or outdoor under the shades.

Friendly staff and quick service. The place and nice and warm Inspite of how could it was outside. Theyvhave a lot of healthy and clean meals that you can order. The green bowl was nice and filling for breakfast. I would definitely recommend this place to others. Their is great too.

The coffee is amazing, however I got the avo on toast from their breeze in/out menu. Iā€™m a coeliac so I asked for it on gluten free toast. When I got to the office to eat it, it was one tiny slice of gluten free bread that hadnā€™t been toasted at all. Pretty disappointing tbh. Jess makes the best coffee though ļæ½

Yes you are busy but you should be ready to go for a busy Sunday morning took my food 45 mins to come out and when they did they got the order wrong so had to wait another 30mins at this time my sister had eaten all her breakfast and had to wait and watch me eat mine! The food wasn't even good my bacon was cold and the staff blamed it on that they just got a order in for the table of 20 over there so you should have enough staff on to get plates out in 30mins

Ok. So, went to blue door. First time there. Looked nice, good atmosphere. Ordered the scrambled eggs on sourdough with a side of sausage and avo. Drinks and food came out so quick! Impressive. Halfway through the meal, someone was sat at a hightop table next to our lower seating. I get that in order to make money with such a small space, you need to put customers in pretty close proximity to each other...but when someone's hairy butt crack is within half a meter of my food, I get a little worried about how far we're going with this tiny cafe stuff. Maybe avoid this happening again by not putting stools on the same side as lower seating. It really was the only negative to the whole thing. Also, can we get over sourdough already!? It's annoying to cut and it isn't actually much better than other breads. Hit up some focaccia, it's so much better. All in all I would definitely eat at Blue Door again, but I'd recommend having a reservation and asking for seating away from higher tables.

Unimpressed, menu choices are not as expected at a lunchtime establishment, the breakfast bacon and eggs board was highly overpriced at $27.00 Menu needs some serious love. No basic menu items eg a fancy chicken burger or similar items. $6.50 for a small cup of chips. $9.50 for a bowl of ice-cream with a pancake with maple syrup. And coffee was not at standard temperature,(cool). Overall, won't be returning. Terrible.

Went for breakfast Sunday and donā€™t think Iā€™ll rush back staff polite but food overpriced for what it was Poached eggs hard the pot of tea I thought they brought kids cups out first Overpriced trend

Went here for brunch yesterday, it was busy, we ordered and food came out surprisingly fast and the pancakes were amazing. So impressed with food and speedy delivery to the table considering how busy it was. Great service and friendly staff, my best coffee in town! Thank you Bluedoor :-)

We are just visiting Newcastle and after searching for cafes near our hotel, Blue Door looked the best. Service and food was fantastic. I had the byron bowl with halloumi and my husband had the smashed double egg & bacon roll. The coffee was really good too. There seems to be a bit of construction around the area, but dont let that stop you from going to Blue Door.

We were seated quickly and our order taken quickly But then it took 45mins for my smoothie a further 5 mins for my hubbies cuppacino the another 10 for our meal. Thankfully the meal was delicious. Other ppl who came after us were served faster with their drinks. It was like we were forgotten. Blue Door was highly recommend to us by locals so was disappointed by the near hour of waiting for our drinks and food. Been there once thats enough.

We definitely enjoyed our breakfast! The meals were so beautifully presented & tasty, so many yummy things on the menu to choose from. Very reasonable price for the great quality meals, we will be back fore sure! Also very accommodating & welcoming for kids, with colouring in and a great little kids menu. ļæ½ļæ½

We had 4 adults and 4 children on a Sunday morning. We were attended to quickly and our food arrived quickly as well. Thanks to the lovely staff and Chef's for making my breakfast just the way I needed it to be.

I asked for well done poached eggs but not to point where I wasnā€™t able eat the egg white..

One of my favourite cafƩs in Newcastle. Fantastic vegan options! The staff, the food, and the atmosphere always keeps me coming back.

You now have to pay cash to buy a coffee! Really people want the convenience of eftpos , who carryā€™s cash! Watched numerous people turned away this morning who were loyalty card holders. Never mind lots of other cafes! You need to change this ! Bad decision!

Very nice friendly staff, were quite attentive to us, meals came out reasonably quick and quite delicious, would recommend to friends and would go back again .

Place was a bum weā€™re all hung over waiting for our meals yet when it finally came we shouldā€™ve just gone to maccas, way over priced for a potarto looking cafe that didnā€™t even have proper hash browns but these depleted looking nut potatoes were a disgrace to the hash brown community.

While staying in Newcastle a work colleague suggested we go to the Blue Door Cafe for breakfast. The first morning went for the standard bacon and eggs on sour dough which was delicious. Second morning tried the quinoa porridge with fresh fruit and almond milk. Wow! What a delight. If you are in Newcastle would highly recommend you visit this cafe.

Amazing lunch, Amazing menu. Great for healthy eating. Service was prompt and immediate, lovely atmosphere and decor. Ambience was chill and flowing. Music was nice and meals came out fast.

This review is for the cocowhip from their outlet by the beach. Not as creamy as an ice-cream or gelato but still satisfying as a dessert. More like sorbet texture. I tried the raw salted caramel. The caramel slice added that extra bit of sweetness and decadence. Cocoa nibs added crunch to it all.

Nice outdoors atmosphere, friendly staff. Ordered juice and tea. Enjoyed a nice sunny morning here. The music is a bit loo loud though.it gets quite busy on Saturday morning.

Busy cafe! Great location. Outdoor server was lovely, he did such a great job and could tell had years of experience.
Enjoyed the food here. Everything fresh and tasty. Good variety on the menu too.
Husband changed his poached eggs, on the breakfast board to scrambled. We appreciated the chef doing this: thanks for a lovely experience.
Spend my last easter holiday brunch in that cafe. The food was great as well as the service and even the music. The big breakfast was sooooo big and the way they present was absolutely natural ( with nice wooded board). I will defiantly come back. Ā By the way, this cafe was really busy on that day, but the food comes so quick.

Really nice vibe about Blue Door, music going off on a Sunday morning and plenty of locals filling the tables. Staff are extremely friendly and accomodating.

Food is nice but quite expensive compared to other health conscious places around the area. Would come back but not in a hurry.

I love both Blue Door CafƩ and Blue Door Kiosk at Merewether Beach. The staff are stunning and the service is good but the food is hit and miss. To see a vegan wrap was exciting but was really let down because it didn't seem as fresh as what Blue Door markets itself to be. Tried the mojito kombucha which was refreshing and was able to wash down the vegan wrap. There is a wide range of food items and drinks on offer all worth a look.

Staff are always friendly and prompt with service. The food is extraordinarily tasty and is like no other in Newcastle. I would recommend Blue Door above all else.
Kev
Great food--just hope they don't get your order wrong. At Juicy Beans, apparently that's always the customer's fault.
