Review Moor - Newcastle

Came here for breakfast during Easter long weekend. Given many cafes closed this place was quite busy on the day. Friendly service though and food came at a reasonable time although queuing to order took a while. Fairly simple menu and food was ok but nothing special. Looking around at what people we're ordering it seems their juices are quite popular so may be why people come here.

My partner had been wanting to come here for ages on their Thursday Tagine night and we finally got the excuse to do it when using our last Dine & Discover voucher before it expired on 30th June. We booked a table in advance inside out of the cold. The interior was buzzing, but not so loud you couldn't tall. Staff were all very kind even though they were getting run off their feet. We started with a mulled wine each to stave off the cold from being outside while we waited for our food. I got the chicken with kale, olives, and yoghurt, but I found my partners lamb neck tagine was the stand out. It melted in your mouth and created a lovely savoury mix of lentils and sauce, punctuated with the occasional piece of pomegranate. The accompanying Persian saffron pilaf rice was also quite good, particularly the sweet dried fruit. It seems that the tagine night menu changes faiy regularly, so I feel like we will be back at some point.

Visited Moor on the spur of the moment as I was working in the area and needed a feed; so glad I did. On arrival I waited to make sure I was all good to sit in while coffee was being made for folk in front of me. Gave me a chance to look at the decor. Got a relaxed vibe and assurance I was in a good spot. I took my all day menu and sat in a corner in the sun. Water was soon on the table and I was not rushed to order which was good as the menu was very much all filled with my style of food. I settled on flat white coffee and spicy scrambled eggs - see the photo! Coffee was good and not overly hot which I like. Then the food, bottom line, the best scrambled eggs I've had! Eggs where spiced and came with chorizo sausage and a great onion/chilli/ coriander topping - I added a hash brown. Start to finish was amazing, set me up for the entire day. Truly head to the venue if you are in the area. Staff are so nice and welcoming. I will be back though for an evening meal.. Thursday night is tagine night.. got to try that. Fantastic brekky! Thank you!!

Ordered 2 lattes, a shakshuka, and chilli scrambled eggs. Mind blown. Lattes were spot on. The chilli scrambled eggs was flavourful, unlike anything we had in other cafes. Wife is a small eater but polished the whole plate on her own. Shakshuka was wholesome, however could do with a little salt. Overall a satisfying experience and would fully recommend stopping by for brunch.

I was very disappointed by the food in this this cafe, I ordered scrambled eggs the bread was extremely hard and I was given a better knife to help with same, I was told there was no other bread. The eggs were extremely dry so that was also very disappointing. Maybe the head chef was on his day off!

Tagine Thursday! On Thursday nights, this restaurant has a tagine night with BYO wine. We had a really enjoyable meal with friends on Thursday night - we loved the lamb and chicken tagines and the cous cous!

Mostly good experiences here but it can be hit and miss. Can feel a bit rushed and sometimes they get my order wrong. Last time I was in, someone else's food got delivered under my nose then taken away fairly carelessly. I was concerned that it would then be passed onto the right person and may be an issue of infection control or might just be thrown out and wasted. These things happen but I felt it could have been avoided if a bit more care was taken.

Thank you for wonderful service and food tonight. We had a table booked for two, then had two other people join us. One of whom was vegan. Not only did you accommodate the two extra covers but you also went out of your way to deliver vegan meals on a whim. Nothing was too much trouble and the service was friendly and professional. Oh and the food! Absolutely delicious! Our vegan friend even saying that her meal was exceptional and in her too ten best that she has had. She's a very experienced traveller. So again thank you!
