Review Kinn Thai Restaurant - Newcastle

Absolutely love Kinn Thai. We normally go to the restaurant in Greenhills, but met up with friends at the Kotara one this time. It was an extremely busy Saturday night and the way the staff handled it was incredible. They literally have it down to a fine art and know how to keep things moving. Easy ordering from a QR code on the table and the food came out so fast. We were all very impressed with the staff and their impeccable service. Overall a wonderful experience...OH and the food was all absolutely delicious, as usual. No wonder we love Kinn Thai!

Thoroughly delicious. The venue was lovely and the staff were friendly and attentive. Lots of good options on the menu, and it was quite quick to arrive. All the food tasted wonderful, was presented beautifully and filling. We'll be back again for sure!

food was okay, but staffs maybe didn’t get well paid. The girl at front seem unhappy with customers, chef use a moldy basil as a garnish.

Like the atmosphere and styling in the back section at night. Good easy meal out. Be great if had a few more veg/vegan dishes on menu (seems a bit less than some other Thai restuarants) and shame they do not take the NSW Dine vouchers.

We ate there on several occasions. The taste of their foods are good. The Masammun Lamb shank with roti, & crispy soft shell crab are die for. Their other curry, stir-fried rice are good as well. This restaurant is a bit pricey in terms of serving size.

Thai is by far my favourite food and I have been visiting and enjoying the food at kinn Thai since they opened. They’re food is amazing but of recent times not as good as what it has been and the service is now just appalling. I have been for quick lunches and long dinners 4x in the last fortnight and would consider myself a very regular and good customer. I enjoy to sit and talk with a glass of wine without being rushed to order instantly (they should know this after 4x in a fortnight right) the staff have asked me to order 4x in 4 minutes in recent visits to the point I have not enjoyed myself and been forced to order, eat and leave! Last night I took 14 guests for my birthday and when asking staff if they could do a stir fry from the menu but add noodles to it (instead of ordering rice on side) they declined my request and told me they were too busy. Another person at the table asked for something that was on lunch menu and said they would pay dinner price but this was also declined. Again we were rushed to order,eat and leave. I felt I should politely tell staff how I felt about the service and they smiled and laughed. They told me it was managers discretion to do something like add noodles to a stir fry and I said this was not ran by management at all (again the waitress laughed) I feel very upset with the service provided by the staff and most of all the lack of care to turn the experience around so I would continue to return on a regular basis. I work in customer service and always acknowledge and tip great customer service when eating out, I have not ever felt the need to tip staff at kinn Thai as I honestly feel like they want customers to leave. I also watched half a dozen customers be turned away at 8pm as they “close” at 8:30pm. That would’ve been hundreds of extra dollars. Get with times kinn Thai and open to suit your customers needs and the industry you are operating in! Poor Service Experience!!!

A great meal at a reasonable price. Service was good and food was served promptly. My only gripe was that the menus we received (booklet within a folder) were pretty much past their best and a bit grubby. All the corners were disintegrating from use and numerous food stains on the menus. From a hygiene point of view, found this a bit off as the pages felt grubby and you then use your fingers to eat some of the starters etc. No complaints about the food or service but a simple fix ( replace tattered menus or laminate the pages) would be a positive change. Definitely worth a visit 😁

Walked past this restaurant several times thinking it was overpriced and crowded. Yesterday, the wife asked if we could try it because of friends' recommendations. First impression wasn't good because of perceived indifference from the initial host/server. She gave off a felling of "unhappy to be there". Her initial indication of where to sit (in the centre of the restaurant) wasn't to my liking and I indicated I'd like to be seated at the higher tables/stools to the side of the restaurant. She gave no answer, just an unhappy look. We sat for a while waiting for menus so we looked about to see what was being delivered to other tables to get an idea of the offerings. What we saw we liked. When we received the menus, we immediately decided on our choices and looked for a drinks menu. After a while, the wife gave up waiting and just grabbed a spare from an empty table. Whena server arrived to take our order (not the original server) we selected an appetiser of "Betel Leaf" containing tiger prawn & spices (2pcs), appetiser of "Crispy Soft Shell Crab with Papaya Salad" (4pcs), appetiser of "Petite Satay Chicken" (8 skewers) and a mains serving of "Pork Ribs" (3 racks). We indicated all of the food to be delivered at the same time and we would be sharing. We also ordered a "Jug of Maitai" to drink. The Maitai Jug arrived swiftly and just as we took a sip, our food began arriving. Within 10 minutes of taking our order, our table was a showcase of food and drink. The new servers were pleasant and smiling, making a great difference to the whole experience. The plated presentation of all the food was excellent and the aromas were outstanding. The "Betel Leaf" was okay. I tried it, but the dish is not something I would order again. I found it a bit dry and not very flavourful. At $8 it was reasonable for the cost. The "Petite Satay Chicken" skewers were cooked well and the accompanying peanut satay dipping sauce was delicious. The serving size was very good for the $8 price. The "Crispy Soft Shell Crab" was again cooked well and the accompanying shredded green papaya salad with roasted peanuts, green beans, tomatoes and lime juice was very tasty. The 4pcs of crab were a great portion size for sharing and a nice dish for the $14 price. That brings me to the "Pork Ribs". Firstly, the aroma and the appearance of the offering was intoxicating (no, it's not the maitai talking). The 3x segments contained about 4-5 ribs in width and were a sizeable meal portion. The ribs were cooked to perfection, with the meat falling off the bones with little coaxing. The coating of their sweet "special sauce" was salivatingly delicious, requiring licking of ribs and fingers to get every tasty molecule of it. The price of $24 for the ribs meal was an absolute winner and a dish that I'll be coming back to enjoy as soon as possible! The "Jug of Maitai"? It was refreshing, flavourful and copious for the $29 price. Yes, I've bought better maitais and I've made better maitais. However, this was a nice drink to be enjoyed on a beautiful, sunny day. Our final cost of the mid-afternoon meal was approximately $95 (with holiday surcharge) and I fee that was quite acceptable for our experience. We strolled off with full tummies, a glow on out cheeks and smiles on our faces. We'll be back to Kinn Thai :-)

Have been there 4 times at night and 1 lunch time I get the spare ribs at night and no one can do these as good they are the best the pork belly is fantastic and the pad see euw is yum and the luch menu no 19 is yummy always will come back value for money and best thai ever

This is my favourite place to eat out, there food is always amazing and you never have to wait long for your meal, the staff are lovely and always polite and friendly, kinn Thai have the best green curry and lamb shanks I have ever tasted!!

Went to Kinn Thai for lunch. Food was amazing, service was fast and staff friendly. My partner is thai and is very fussy with thai food in Australia as it’s not authentic enough for him, he rated Kinn Thai. We will definitely be back.

People when u get the chance come and have a feed at this place. Must rate the Thai food here better than Thailand its self.

Had dinner their tonight with family Absolutely AMAZING food we are from Sydney and sorry to say Sydney can’t make food as good as this. Well done to all the chefs ���and staff for fast efficient service �

The "ambience" of this place is non-existent. Noisy, noisy, noisy and far too open in that food-court environment. Not realising some of their tables were high with stools to perch up on, this is what I was offered for my booking with my 87 year old mother. Luckily, they offered another normal table squashed up against a divider along a walkway so the four members of our party spent an uncomfortable evening shouting at each other across a cramped table waiting for our orders, one of which never arrived. Just as well the food which did arive was fresh and tasty. However, we won't be going back.

Don’t get take away!! All though it had a great taste. Less then half a small container of vegetables and tofu for $15. Won’t be coming back. I’ll stick to my local huge authentic servings for under $15!

My son and I went yesterday lunch time I don't like Thai food at all BUT my son goes their a lot !! I got sizzling beef I think it was called. Omg it was the best food Ive ever tasted in a Thai restaurant I will be taking my hubbie their very soon SUNDAY intact. A+++

I have always had a great experience at Kinn Thai! considering it's always sooo busy the food comes out quick and is sooo tastey! and OMG the best curry puffs i have ever had! I only once had a problem but it was sorted quick smart and we went on about our date! always accommodating. Keep up the good work.

We enjoyed Sunday lunch here. Food was fantastic. Our meals came our approximately 15mins after ordering which was surprising as it was extremely busy. Service was very efficient and friendly.
