Review Cielo Italiano - Newcastle

If I could give more stars for service and food quality I would. Great location on Queens Wharf. Sarah was excellent, well timed service, she made sure everything was ok. This is a great, well priced Italian Restaurant. Maybe the best lasagne I have had. My kind of food. We loved this place.

Enjoyed a nice meal in a very relaxed setting. Evening could have been so much better had it not been for a group of loud drunk idiots sitting on a table near by. Food and drinks reasonably priced with friendly service.

Nice food, friendly service. Gnocchi and mussels were fine, we asked for a bottle of water as we had glasses on the table and when out meals arrived we asked for our cutlery and serviettes. Even though we were the only people in the restaurant the bucket of cutlery was duly put on the table instead of being set for us. We had to attract attention again to order another drink.Good spot for people watching and to enjoy the last rays of sunshine.

I absolutely enjoy good, tasty Italian food. On a rainy day in Newcastle for a family catch up & having heard about the food at Cielo off we went. The resturant did not disappoint. Of the meals we had were veal, pasta & prawns, lasagna, pizza & garlic bread. Service was friendly & prices were reasonable.

We had a late Thursday lunch here. We'd seen pics of the wonderful looking food & thought it was worth a try. First issue: plastic tablecloths. If you're going to charge that much, either have them bare or with linen. Second issue: dirty side plates, cuttlery & glassware, there was still lipstick on the wine glass. Overall the food was okay, presented better than it tasted. The staff were friendly, although a little slow considering there were only 4 tables of customers. The food was well timed, but personal opinion you shouldn't put lots of oil, salt & pepper on salad. We were underwhelmed by Cielo Italiano. A few negatives, but not bad enough to say we wouldn't go back, just not great.

$10 cocktails from Wednesday-Sunday was so good. Best espresso martini I have ever had, and had the best Sex on the Beach cocktails. Lovely staff, very helpful. Food was delicious and well priced. Loved this place- went back 3 days in a row.
