Review Zaffran Indian Restaurant And Takeaway - Newcastle

My parents and I visited here for dinner last night. We were absolutely amazed with our friendly host who described our dishes and all their history. He confidently suggested different combinations and boy were we glad he did! The food is exquisite, refined and bold in depth, flavour and feel. It was far more than just a curry for dinner, we were entertained, amazed, taught and delighted all at once. I highly recommend Zaffran Indian for an experience of culinary delight and I highly recommend you let the people there lead you into some of the best Indian food I have ever had.

What a delicious experience! The service was very personable. We tried the Chaat for entree which was amazing and really cleansed the palate. A must try and not on offer at many if any other Indian restaurants. The Lamb was super tender and not fatty. The desert dumplings and saffron ice cream was a pleasant surprise and the perfect way to finish our meal. Very clean. Highly, Highly recommend! We will be back for sure.

Delicious food, by far the best Indian I have ever had. I’ve been to 20+ Indian restaurants even been to India and never tasted the flavours so prevalent in any dish. Also extremely friendly staff even inviting us into the kitchen to view the tandoori oven. Would 110% recommend coming here.

Any negative review here would be by competitors. This place is streets ahead in taste and quality for Indian food in the Hunter. The service is superb and there is never a long wait. Been eating here for over 20 years and follow them wherever they go.

The food is amazing the best tasting Indian food I think I have ever had, the portions are generous, we stuffed ourselves silly for less than $40 each and still had leftovers. The service is quick , The host is very friendly and happy to share some of the culture . I will be happy to go back again and again.

Had one of the worst Biryani here. It wasn’t even a Biryani. But was charged exorbitant amount for what was not even a Biryani.

We went there first time, but was a culinary delight. Very pleasant owner/chef, recommended a good wine which was perfect with the food . The food was authentic in taste and flavour-fully delicious. Serving size was very generous. Lamb cutlets were juicy and perfectly cooked. Gajjar ka halwa was the best I have ever had. I live in Sydney but planning to again to enjoy the food , its worth over 2 hours drive.

Got take away on Saturday night, fabulous food, samosa’s were delicious and the lamb in our curry was tender, melt in the mouth beautiful. Curries had lots of flavour and the naan bread was perfect for soaking up the incredible curry. Would highly recommend, amazing Indian food.

Absolutely no ambience, and we were completely ignored by the staff - them choosing to go around individually to check up on all tables surrounding us. The food was bland, and the Naan very very dry and flavourless. All in all, would NOT recommend. Ambience, taste, price and Menu could all be greatly improved upon.

Thanks so much for the amazing meal! The service was great. It was really nice to try all the different types of bread. The vegetarian options were as tasty as the food for carnivores. The flavours were excellent. The lamb on the shank was succulent. The portion sizes were really good (have a doggy bag for tomorrow).

This is definitely one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to! What’s great about it is not only are they vegetarian friendly–they’re as authentic as the ones in India. You can really taste the individual flavor of the ingredients. Kudos to their talented chef! It’s great that they import almost all their ingredients or create them in-house to make sure there’s no compromise in the taste. More so, I love its elegant interior and hospitable ambience. It’s a perfect place to have a taste of India with your family and friends!

My colleagues and I had a lovely, relaxing dinner thanks to the accommodating staff and chef. We ordered the banquet and it was delicious and they catered to our individual needs without question. Will definitely be taking my family there. If you love Indian food, then you’ll love Zaffran, Newcastle. Over ate, what else can I say.

The restaurant itself is exceptional, not only because every meal we enjoyed have a variety of options and were flavorful but also because the prices are so reasonable. They serve homemade goodness of traditional Indian curry. They also serve cocktails and wines that go perfect with your dishes. Thumbs up for excellent customer service!

Moved to the area recently and have been scouting for a 'local' that we love. Found it tonight when we visited Zaffran. The food was the absolute bomb - The Garlic and Chilli Prawns were delicious and also had a zesty fresh salad as an accompaniment. Large serving and plenty for two as an entree. Moved on to the authentic Butter Chicken and Fresh Garlic/Cheese Naan. Probably the best Indian I've had, even better than my local in Sydney. Do yourself a favour and try this quaint and authentic restaurant. You know the food is great when the Chef wanders around mingling with customers asking for feedback. We'll be back. Delish!
