Review 5 Sawyers - Newcastle

I went Saturday night, all cocktails became only $10! Tried both and both were great.

Place goes off on Saturday! Great atmosphere with the music and a dance floor beside the bar, it made for a lot of fun! Drinks were reasonably priced if not cheaper than other venues but all still great options on their taps and cocktail menu. Writing this review after my 4th visit and I definitely recommend others to check the place out Enjoy!

Thursday night before public holiday on a Friday, the place is jumping and states online that you are open until midnight. We walk in at 10:45pm and staff called last drinks then wouldn’t serve anyone. Staff were rude and dismissive. My group was 16 and all chasing cocktails. Extremely poor experience and I have previously recommended the cocktails here to everyone I know.

Wide selection of interesting and tasty drinks. Great atmosphere and lovely staff. The lack of table service does mean you're standing at the bar a while though.

Hands down the best place for cocktails. Please order the Orange Crush (I believe it's orange and hazelnut) you will not regret it.

Good bar service and I'd highly recommend the Drag Bingo with Timberlina!

Nice bar located on Darby Street strip with a casual open feel and a USA themed food menu. Southern Fried Chicken seasoned with oyster sauce, spicy sour cream and coriander. Perfectly cooked chicken, over fried (too crunchy), oyster sauce too salty, too much sour cream but helped counteract salty sauce. A bit disappointing but a few tweaks and it could make the US proud. Dark Chocolate Fondant - rich dark chocolate lava cake with roasted nut, honeycomb and salted caramel sauce Redeemed themselves with an excellent dessert. One cut into it and it oozes rich dark chocolate. A decadent dish to put a smile on anyone's face. Love the crunch of the honeycomb and pistachios. A bit too chocolatey that the salted caramel sauce gots drowned out, but it's all about the chocolate! @5Sawyers

Thank you so much to Karen and the staff for last night! You made my 21st dinner and drinks the best it could possibly be. So accommodating and helpful. The food was delicious and the cocktails are to die for. Great service and we all loved the atmosphere. Thanks again!

Great little spot; first time there last night. Reasonably priced drinks etc, and putting on great musicians like Shaun Kirk in a intimate surrounding, not inundated with people. I give the whole experience last night 10/10 without any exaggeration.

Best place in Newcastle! The hosts are fabulous, the drinks to die for, and the atmosphere amazing!

Great atmosphere on a Sunday night with a good live band. Had the melt sandwich thing which was great. 2 for one cocktails Sunday too would be good to get into. Friendly staff too and just the right degree of business.

Came here with me partner and his parents. The cocktails at the place are amazing ! Wow the WEIS BAR is my absolute favourite of all time. Yum!

Fit us in on NYE at the last minute, very accommodating and great service. Conflicting views on quality of food from our table - I really liked the sliders however some others weren't as impressed. Tacos were a hit however the crumbed chicken was no good! Bruschetta delicious, cocktails yummy too, looks like it was a good NYE party based on the mess we saw in there on the NY day coffee run! Thanks :)

Came here for the second time. Food was outstanding. Had my parents with me who are fairly basic eaters but they were so impressed with the food, as was I, again!

A new gem in Darby Street.... A great addition to Newcastle's premier entertainment strip. 5 Sawyers is the new blend of grown up, grungy, funky and downright cool...with a food and drink menu to match. The soft shell tacos and slow cooked pulled pork sliders are a must, washed down with a good range of beers, ciders and wines.<br/>Service was a tad slow on our first visit but given the place was packed, it was fine.<br/>We are regulars now and slowly working our way through the menu. Loving it all!<br/>Good on you 5 Sawyers, just what Newcastle deserves!

A bar that is 'needed' in Newcastle.. I have been to 5 Sawyers a few times now & am yet to be disappointed. My partner & i usually avoid eating at new establishments within the first 6 months to give the place time to find its feet. But we gave in at 5 Sawyers after seeing the food coming from the kitchen.<br/>The menu is great for the type of bar that sawyers is, we have ordered many dishes & shared amongst our group every time. The chef here knows food!!<br/><br/>The booze available is also top notch & the prices for spirits in particular are very reasonable. Beers are a little pricey but you get that when a bars profits aren't propped up by atmosphere killing pokie machines. I'm happy to pay a little more for my drink not to hear them in the back ground.<br/><br/>The interior design is conversation provoking & the historical style & branding of 5 Sawyers is a credit to whomever thought it up. Well Done.<br/><br/>The only thing that upsets me about Sawyers is that for a small venue you still order at the counter!! Sawyers could be the first bar in Newcastle to go that little bit further to deliver an experience to the customer & offer full table service to diners & drinkers. <br/><br/>Keep up the good work Sawyers.
