Great beer selection and funky little pub.
I have only eaten here twice.
The first occasion during the week there was a good selection of the usual pub grub. Reasonable priced meals and good portion sizes.
The second time was on a weekend lunch. Pizza only selection that nice but not mind blowing.
Amenities could definitely do with a refresh in the main dining are but are clean and tidy.
I would recommend this for a meal of drink.

A pretty great selection of beers and decent food. A little more on the expensive side but very tasty. The front bar has a great love music area, albeit a little dingy, and the beer garden area is light and airy. There are multiple bars and some nice cocktails to choose from. When we ordered our dinner the bartender warned us there would be a wait on food because it was busy, but we were pleasantly surprised when it came out early.

Wonderful Pub!! Had a lovely afternoon with a few drinks and were surprised when we went into the dining room for dinner, to find Michelle had prepared a beautiful Valentine's Day table for us. Our dinner was sensational - I would highly recommend this pub, plenty of space and staff are amazing. From myself and my husband Craig Stead.

Ate the leaves, but couldn't decipher between croutons (which were plentiful) and chicken... If you love toasted, stale bread, or dry chicken, come here!

The Stag is a staple of the newy food and music scene. It’s more of a question of why you haven’t been there yet. I got some wings and a burger. It was great. Juicy, flavoursome, all with good service. My friends had a good time too and the beer selection is varied, but quality. See you there next Tuesday.

Stag and hunter hotel is massive. There are rooms and more rooms down the back. Looks cozy where we had our dinner, be so good for function, birthday party and all that stuff. They have really good kitchen. We had cod & mussels, romp cap & hand cut chips and haloumi & corn salad and they were all so delicious. Good size with reasonable price. Love their cocktail menu as well.

Effing awesome atmosphere and great staff! The Stag is not only a great supporter of live (and original) music, but one of the best venues for it too. Great layout and unique decore, makes the pub pretty much the Newcastle equivalent of Sydney's Frankie's Pizza, or Melbourne's Cherry Bar. Fantastic food too! Swanky looking dining area, and a mouth watering menu. I can definitely recommend it, as I eat there every week.

Nice atmosphere, most of the staff were very nice and friendly, food was good though a bit expensive for what it is, beer went down very nicely but again too expensive at 6.50 a schooner for a non boutique beer, was really good to see a pub with 2 decent pool tables and at least 4 pinball machines which is why I chose the Stag but once again too expensive, $4 for 1 game of pool is absolutely outrageous making it 10.50 for 1 standard beer and 1 game of pool. ????� All that said we did have a great time and overall it was pretty good, would like to check it out when a good band is playing but won't be able to go there very often as we're not rich.

Suprisingly great food and service. Chicken Maryland hardley gets offered anywhere anymore. Hubby had a piece of meat that was rubbed in chocolate and chilli with a wine jus. Very different flavours. But a great combo! ���
