Review The Little French Cafe - Newcastle

Sarah Wilks
We came at a busy time but we were still greeted and our order was taken. We got a variety of pasties, they were absolutely delicious. The coffee was amazing! Hands down one of the best coffees I have had in a while!

What a great coffee!!! Cheaper too because of their early bird discount. Wish I had more time to sit and enjoy one of the delicious looking tarts or pastries. Wonderful dine in section to sit with good company and conversation or going solo and catching up on emails. Lovely space. Friendly staff. Great service.

How does this place not have a daily queue down the street? The pastries are better than any I’ve tasted in Melbourne. Seriously light buttery, layered flakey sweet parcels of heaven.

I posted a review last year after we had absolutely appalling treatment from the older woman working behind the counter. Not sure if she was the owner. I can't see it now so am wondering if the review has been deleted. I would give no stars after the dreadful treatment my friends and I received. Later tonight - just received the unprofessional reply from the "Cranky Older Woman Owner" as you have self-identified in your response below. I am NOT a troll and, as you seem to have forgotten, I will remind you of the appalling treatment you gave my friends and I last year. There was a group of us - women in our 60s - and one asked for a key to the loo and you said in front of your staff and any customers within earshot that another lady ("of your age" quote unquote) had "made a dirty mess" in the loos a few days before and then you asked us not to do the same. OMG - if you can somehow turn that into good (or even remotely acceptable behaviour in ANY workplace) then you have a very low bar set for customer service. If you are the person to whom I am referring then I truly hope the business changes owners in the very near future. Still disgusted and NEVER a troll my dear.

Highly recommend!! Pastries are delicious and so good!! Got take away lasagne and was so so good!🤤 Coffee was made perfectly as well. Staff are friendly and helpful on every occasion I’ve been in. Parking can be tricky on the main road but I don’t blame the business for this.. get in early or you’ll miss out!! A gem in Newcastle that’s for sure ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Do not come here for French cafe food. Pastries are not made by the proprietor and taste generic. When things are made, like the last time I visited, one might get a toasted sandwich with a cold filling. Even worse, the proprietor lacks basic modicum of customer service and would blame you for the cold filling. Frenchfaves down the road actually makes French cafe fare in house. There is nothing like the smell and taste of just baked croissants. It also has a much better customer service. EDIT 21/2/22 Unfortunately the cafe Frenchfaves had to close due to illness of the owner and chef. Abhorrently, three days later on the on Facebook page of The Little French Cafe, it has been stated in reference to the closure: "And just like that, equilibrium is restored to Belford St..". There is no low point the manager of the Café's Facebook page won't go to to belittle other people.

I love French pastries and popped into @TheLittleFrenchCafe in Broadmeadow. Stepped inside with many people waiting for a coffee on this very chilly morning. Decided on the following: - Passionfruit cruffin: delicious creme patisserie with the freshness of the passionfruit shining through this lovely creation - Portuguese egg tart: the most unctious creamy vanilla custard encased by delicious flaky pastry. Very enjoyable. - Blueberry Danish: layer up on layer of flaky pastry holding a delicious blueberry filling. So yum. - Nutella cruffin: another well crafted cruffin with a lovely smattering of Nutella making each bite so very tasty. What a way to start the day! #FrenchFood #patisserie #pastry #cruffin #passionfruit #Nutella #Danish #blueberry #PortugueseEggTart #sweettooth #foodie #newcastle #newcastlensw #newcastleaustralia @newcastle_nsw_Australia #newcastlefoodies #newcastlefoodie #newyfoodie #newyeats #novacastrian @zomatoaus
