Review Mega Gyros - Newcastle

We have been here many times, the owner is very friendly if you met him, food are really good. My children really like the Gyros from this place. Back there again yesterday 11 July 2019...best Gyros ever. My daughter went to Athens, Greece last year, her comment was "Gyros in Greece tastes exactly like here"... Cool hey!!!

The best authentic gyros and Greek food around

My husband discovered Mega Gyros about a month or so ago. He became totally obsessed with the place and would not stop talking about how amazing the food is, how friendly the service is and what a genuinely great guy the owner is. We went for lunch last week and now I totally get it. I cannot fault this place, everything was perfect. The food is amazing, fresh & delicious. Great portions, friendly & quick service, no ingredients overpowering another & appetite 100% satisfied. It's just really cool to be able to go somewhere and get really brilliant food, when so many other places just leave you feeling ripped off and disappointed. You feel welcome the moment you arrive and it would be really tempting to sit in one of the comfortable booths and just graze the afternoon away. To the owner or owners, please, please please never close up shop, I don't think your customers would be able to handle losing this absolute sparkling gem of a restaurant. I don't want to eat out anywhere else ever again.

Mega Gyros provides an interesting menu whereby the healthy meals served are generous, delicious and well presented. The food is always fresh, properly prepared, served promptly, and is most certainly a great value for price. My visits are always a pleasant experience with friendly staff, especially "Jamie" who is always happy and engaging. I'll keep on going back. Fantastic food! Five stars!

Must eat here! I'm originally from western Sydney and have always enjoyed Greek/Mediterranean food like this, I have struggled to find a good place in Newcastle but now my search is over. The owner politely greeted me on my way in and explained the menu to me. It's easy to order as there are photos of the food on the menu and at the entry. Fresh homemade sauces and a great price! Highly recommended, especially the homemade chilli sauce.

This is the best Gyros restaurant in Newcastle. I went to Greece many times in my life and you can trust me the gyros taste the same than the original one... Thank you for your hard work to make food as good as Greek ones!

Fantastic!! We went here on my birthday and sat outside, and it was such a beautiful night. Jamie and his crew were all so welcoming and friendly, and provided us with a beautiful meal and a fantastic night! The food is so yummy and such great value and we can't wait to go back! The food and service are both amazing, been many times and never let down! Highly recommend the large Merida plate to share with some halloumi and if you have room the galaktoboureko for dessert is sooooooooo good!!

Absolutely beautiful Greek cuisine. A stack of us went there after football last night and we were accomadeted for brilliantly , we had some tables put together for us a bit of AC/DC mood music playing and some casual banter with the owner The food is flavoursome and filling and was served up quickly , the staff were also unreal. Can’t say enough good things Thanks

Only just found out about this place and I'm very excited. A taste of Greece in Charlestown. Food was great and the staff all in sync with eachother. Jamie thank you for your hospitality. We'll definitely be back!! This would have to be the only place I've been where everyone is constantly smiling!!

The service was spot on, they brought a high chair out for my daughter without asking and the food was awesome the lamb was perfect with a good size meal at the right price, can't wait to go back!

Closest thing I have seen to legit Greek food outside of Greece. I sampled land souvlaki plate tonight. Most places will stuff the lamb up and it turns out chewy but not here. Beautiful. I wished I had seen that they do GF pita before I ordered as I would have loved a gyros. Next time.

One of my friends highly reccommended this place AND so I hit it up AND DAMMMMMMM the food is dangerously delicious! The service is quick and efficient the food is tasty fresh and cooked to perfection! - Oooooh and the Greek desserts are worth a try too!

The staff were very friendly. The food was absolutely yummy and very generous serves. A great menu choice for the kids too!

Awesome people and amazing food. Couldn't put the gyro down. If you like chili try the homemade hot chili sauce.

My wife decided to get catering with Mega Gyros for her 30th birthday. Good decision on her part. Everyone loved the food and the best part of it (other than the leftovers) is the service. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a food coma :-)

Sooooooooo good! Move over King Street Newtown, this food was fantastic! You have to come to Charlestown to eat this Greek God food!
