Review Northern Star Cafe - Newcastle

Not the best dress/decoration restaurant but food are so delicious. When you feel a need of Italian pasta, this place is really recommend. Presentation of the dish may not be superb, but excellent in your mouth 😃. There are also lots of choice of yummy desserts. A bit slow in service but she is very friendly...oh, try some gelato, too. It's homemade and Greatttt....

We wandered in here off a recommendation on the street. The place was full, but they got us set up out in the hallway, which was actually really nice. The lady that looked after us was absolutely fantastic, funny and really helpful. The food was very well priced for the quality and the size of the servings, I had the Gnocchi which I thoroughly enjoyed. All in all a great dining experience.

Nice ice cream but as it's pricey it would be just a v occasional treat ($8 for two scoops and didn't get much of one scoop as the server struggled to dig it from the case; costs more than a two scoop ice cream at Rivareno in Sydney as a point of comparison).

I have been going here for 20yrs, the food used to be beautiful. Now the restaurant is filthy dirty, the wine bucket we got was sticky and had stuff spilt all over it and had nwver had a wipe over and one of the glass were dirty. The waotress put our glasses rim down on the sticky table. The table and chairs were sticky. I had hair all through my salad, the chef has a long pony tail flapping around. The saltimbocca we ordered was very average, veal wasn't tender and the sauce was a thick cheese sauce, not a white wine sauce. There was no toilet paper in the toilets! Since the real Italians sold this place it has gone downhill big time. Don't waste your money on their expensive average food in a dirty unhygenic environment.

I don't normally write a review unless its is 5 star performance wether it be food or service. Northern Star Cafe have the best Italian I've had in my 12 years in Newcastle. The dessert was amazing will defiantly be going back.
