Review Suspension Espresso - Newcastle

Great coffee. Very simple menu but everything I've had here has been good. Enjoyed a coffee and bagel and enjoyed doing a little bit of work whilst relaxing in the outdoor setting.

Great coffee and food spot. Eat in or out, and dog friendly tables available. Food is fresh and tasty, staff are friendly and super helpful.

When you spend $27.83 because you pay a 15% public holiday surcharge which is because you have to pay extra for service…but then wait 24 minutes for 4 takeaway coffees of which 1 of The orders were wrong (served hot instead of iced…) then what do they say “well that’s not what was ordered”…and I say “…umm… yes it was what was ordered….it was 4 iced drinks. She must’ve just put it in wrong”…to which they said “oh well that what’s on HERE (the order slip). I go “oh well…umm….” And she says “well if you WANT…..I could remake it for you, but-“ (then looks around as if to say ‘we’re just soooo busy, I don’t know how long it’ll take’. I say- I just don’t have time though, to wait. They just look blankly. As I walk off I said to my mother-in-law…”I don’t think they care much.” And the male Barrista gave me a smug smile. Yeah, I’m not sure about this place. Nothing professional about it.

Dropped by for a quick lunch before heading back to Sydney in the train. The lunch special was pumpkins soup and it was the best I’ve ever had!!! The sourdough on the side was toasted perfectly and had a herbed type butter smeared lightly which gave it that extra taste. I’d highly recommend, the staff were friendly and helpful and the cafe was comfortable and easy to get in and out of and the seating spread out so that you weren’t listening to the persons conversation at the table next to you :)

Nice staff, didn’t rate the 20 minute wait for a $6 takeaway coffee tho, esp when it’s not busy.

Quirky, cute, rustic. Great coffee & sweet treats. Almond or soy available. Meat & vegetarian options. Toilet avail. Courtyard playground & outdoor tables. Great vibe.

Waited 40 minutes for scrambled eggs and not worth the money you pay for it. They bought out the person's food I was with 20 minutes before my meal. When asked they said they'd forgotten about my meal and did not offer any refund or anything. Unfriendly, over priced and think they're too hipster for their own good.

The friendliest cafe in Newcastle with the best coffee, simple as that! (Plus the salmon bagels omg yum). I’ve been going for 10 years and it’s basically ruined me for anywhere else!! lol . (On that whole “hipster vibe” thing in other comments here? Nah. (That’s a Sydney thing, innit? Lol). It’s just relaxed and happy. We’re all just there for the coffee, really! Oh and the music is usually just chosen by the baristas that are on that day! . Eg I’m here right now and I think it’s...20s showtunes?!! (Think Lassi...). Folks’ tastes vary I guess!!).

You are my favourite new go to place in Newcastle. The food is amazing and the atmosphere made me feel like my childhood. It brought tears to my eyes♡

Nice coffee and cake, prompt service, cool decor. Music was either really loud or really soft. Quite indescriminantly. Auto levelling would be good and at a volume that your patrons can hear each other.

Service is consistently unfriendly and slow. Also very hard to ring up and pre order coffees because the phone often does not get answered. Have asked for my meal to be redone because it was not made the way I ordered it, and staff were rude about it

Friendly, efficient staff in a relaxed pleasant environment

Suspension Hamilton delivers when it comes a good brew, by far the best coffee in Newcastle 10/10 ✌️

This Melbourne coffee snob feels at home here.

I went here on the first occasion got a pretty good coffee so I returned a few days later to stand waiting while the three staff chatted away and finally after 4 mind asked me for my order. The coffee was not as good the second time around so I would not return. Across the road the Taylors Workshop have great coffee and attentive staff.

3.80 coffee in a land of 4s, the decor mixes vintage industrial with works from local artists gracing the walls. Service felt a bit cold but maybe it was just a bad day. Had a lentil pumpkin salad ($14) that was tasty. Covered courtyard at the back is a bonus.

Although the menu is not large the food at Suspension is top notch. My favourite menu item is the feta and smashed avo with tomatoes and an egg.
Magicfiretruck
Friendly hipster atmosphere. Pretty decent coffee. Foods a little pricey. All in all not bad.

How do they do it?. I have been going to 'spennos for about five years now; about as long as I have been in Newie. It was one of the first cafes I went to, and it is still, by a very long way, my favourite place to go. I admit to not eating there very often, but when I do, the food is always simple, clean and tasty. The coffee, now. I do like my coffee. I try, these days, to only drink coffee that has been locally roasted, and is made by someone who knows how to drive a machine and who knows not to burn milk. Chris and Steph have ensured that these things are taken care of, and unfailingly find awesome, smart and beautiful people to work for them, who really know their stuff. I salute these two.
