Review Pino’s - Newcastle

First meal out after a long covid lockdown. ) 10/10 for the new breakfast options @pinosrestaurant ! Great menu, amazing delicious food & friendly staff. ) Grateful for another great option to get quality vegan breakfast 🙏🏽

My girlfriend Vanessa and I had a beautiful meal at Pinos on Saturday (9 July). We were so impressed by the beautiful vegan food, portion sizes, atmosphere and the staff. Erin who provided guidance on the menu was outstanding and had a beautiful and professional manner. We will be back again and would highly recommend this place for anyone, whether you are vegan, vegetarian or a meat lover, your senses will be delighted.

The new restaurant is tastefully decorated, however, it still doesn't justify paying $18 for a schooner of beer. The rigatoni was okay, the gnocchi was a heavy garlic infused mush. Also, unsure why restaurants can't have music that allows conversation .. the din created by loud pumped up music is possibly chosen because staff enjoy it, not the customers. If you're paying $60 (minimum) for a bottle of wine, you'd expect to see staff dressed in a classy fashion, rather than mid drifts and skin tight shorts. Charging high end prices for low end 'fair'?

Didnt realise this was a vegan restaurant until I got there – I’m not vegan but always up for eating vego and vegan. My husband and I shared the fake sauce gnocchi and the charred corn, chilli and basil pasta. I thought the gnocchi was amazing – the corn one less so but I still enjoyed it and glad I got to try something different. I can see other reviewers saying the food is on the salty side – I thought it was a great level of salty personally! We also got the panna cotta dessert and I really liked it. The service was great; our main waitperson was super lovely and helped recommend a fantastic wine and answered other questions we had. I liked the ambience as the restaurant’s decor is very charming and interesting to look at – yes it’s maybe a little loud since the place is quite small, but I was able to have a conversation with my partner at a normal volume, without raising my voice. This mightve been different if we were a bigger table. I was visiting Newcastle on a trip and would definitely return if I ever came back.

Pinos needs to just check into reality and not take their nuanced take on Italian and popularity for granted. Don’t get me wrong the food is great. Absolutely incredible. Probably some of the best in Newy. However the service has to improve. We had to ask for the drinks menu, ask to order drinks, ask to order dinner, ask to order dessert. And after we ordered they “had gone in break” and we had to wait for them to prepare our meal. The waiters seemed to prefer clearing and cleaning and chatting amongst themselves. We get it! You are alternative! You love each other! If this attitude continues it really kills the vibe…

Very busy Friday evening, so the place did feel a bit crowded. The food is fantastic though - I’ve been vegetarian for 40 years and have eaten veg food in many parts of the world. This is very much up there with the best. Why not 5 stars then? Service was genuinely friendly and helpful but a bit erratic - some of our mains came out quite a while (20 mins) after the others and it’s awkward to have some at table not eating while others are, or for everyone to wait and let food get cold. But we’d definitely try here again.

Oh my goodness the food is amazing!! I can't wait to go back! It was great going with friends and sharing dishes so we could try everything. There are great gluten free options.

Very poor service and, a lack of consideration for dietary needs. Our party called ahead to check whether our specific dietary needs could be met, and we were assured this would be the case. We booked a table outside. On arrival - at exactly the time of our booking we were told that other customers were "waiting" at the table we had booked, and we were asked to stand outside and wait. We stood for 30 minutes and waited outside. When we were finally seated, the table was not clean. We were given one menu to share between the 3 of us, and then it was another 30 minutes until we were seen by the wait-staff to place orders for food. Only at this time were we told that our dietary needs could not be met, because they had "run out" of gluten free options. At least they offered a verbal apology. Nonetheless, this was a disappointing waste of time and energy.

A tad loud and crowded so if that bothers you a lot then oh well. But to be honest if a place is crowded that usually means it’s well loved Food is great! Well worth the price (and not expensive either) staff were really great as well

You can instantly rate a place by how many empty chairs there are. We were lucky to get a seat! Delicious food and great service... These guys know they’re stuff! �����

Our dinner was absolutely amazing! So flavorful �! Great quick service, will definitely be back again, the deep fried sprouts were the best!!

Epic food and great hosts. Pinos is a funky little gem of a restaurant with a weekly changing menu of super tasty face treats and is BYO, you can’t go wrong. We love Pinos!

A nice trio of young gentlemen that will make you feel very welcome with the delicious food and welcoming environment that they have created.

Delicious vegan pasta, BYO and hip hop to listen to. Awesome dining experience. Loved it and will be back.
