Review Hooi's Recipe Take Away Restaurant - Newcastle

We spent over $50 for dinner delivered last night. Got salt and pepper chicken (which was the only thing that was okay), special fried rice and fried noodles. The rice and the noodles just tasted like unpleasant char and had burnt bits all throughout (like when the wok or pan hasn’t been cleaned). Couldn’t eat these and they went in the bin. So disappointing

Great little restaurant, these guys are the real deal. Delicious food, served quickly and great value too. Its my go to takeaway treat for the week also.

The food is good and the pricing is pretty reasonable for the quantity served. The waiting time to be served was less than 10 mins during our visit! There is a good variety of vegetarian dishes too!

A very good little restaurant. Reasonable price and the food is really nice.

Absolutely the most basic fried rice ever had. This take away use to be our favourite. Rang to explain but no decent explanation.

One of those (open) secrets of Newcastle Area. Great tasting authentic food. Try the Laksa and the honey chicken. Note: Open Wed-Sun from 0500pm.

Hooi's makes the best Laksa in Newcastle :)  Lots of other yummy dishes too.  Great service, fast, clean restaurant.   Take away and dine in options available

10/10. I recently just moved to kotara, and I really enjoy Chinese food on the odd occasion. Hooi's is close by and the food is excellent and the prices are really reasonable as well. Highly recommenced.

We were expecting good Malaysian food but found it to be Anglosised. All dishes were very sweet, the curry tasted like curry powder and bland. They also have way too many items on the menu, from Chinese to Thai to Malaysian. It would be much better if they stuck to less dishes and did them well. The staff were very nice and I could see the appeal of this place as a cheap local. I think it needs keep up with Australia as our tastes improve

Great food. Hooi's Recipe is a secret paradise for loves of great Thai/Malaysian/Chinese food... I am a lover of Thai Satay and I've eaten it all over the world... I keep wanting to go back to Hooi's Recipe
