Review Ridge Street Takeaway - Newcastle

They charge $200 for 6 chips. Seriously though, they are using chips to pay the rent; for $10 you would expect a lot of chips, not here. I wouldn't mind if the chips were high quality but they're just average chips. The rest of the food is average too. I would give them 2 stars, but extra star given for the great customer service.

Absolute filth, the fish was undercooked and rock hard, calamari was okay, prawn cocktails inedible, seafood sticks taste off chips were horrible. So disappointing would never waste my money here again as we literally threw it away.

Friendly service. We loved the chips - this is $10 and fed 2 hungry parents and 2 kids. Pineapple fritters also highly recommended. Salad roll was huge but a bit bland.

The chips were good, the scallops even better. BUT the big let down.. was the metal in one of our burgers.. when told they said the fan above where they cook the meat was broken so bits were falling... WHO would still continue to sell burgers knowing there's a risk???!

Unfortunately we had TERRIBLE customer service. I've never left a shop feeling so low and angry due to how I was treated. My partner and I got in the car thinking what did we do so wrong to be treated so poorly. Was an awful feeling handing over my money to someone who definitely didn't appreciate our support.The lady serving customers has NO customer service skills what so ever... How she has a job in customer service I have no idea. The man working was so kind to everyone, I feel terrible he has to work along side a cranky lady. We wanted to support a small local business for our once a week takeaway meal during this covid lockdown but unfortunately Mcdonalds would've been a better option... Now this is saying something! As an employer myself, if any of my staff treated our customers the way she did tonight, they WOULD NOT have a job! It doesn't take very much to smile, speak to people politely, with manners and greet them on arrival and to thank them when leaving. Although the works schnitzel burger and chips were great, the scallops and fish didn't have a great taste to them. Will not be returning here ever again due to the service. There are many other great fish and chip stores around the area that offer 1000000x better service and feel like we are appreciated as paying customers.

Great chips and fair dinkum prices. Worth the walk from the baths. Call ahead with your order, calamari hand cut.
