Review Etna On Darby - Newcastle

Polite and fast service Reasonable pricing Terrible food The service was good, ambience was nice, the food was unfortunately bland and poorly cooked. I ordered a garlic bread that was entirely lacking in garlic flavour and a bosciaola that was bland, without bacon, panchetta, guanciale or any discernible seasoning.

Service, pizzas and pasta were good but we were super thirsty afterwards for the whole evening. So strange how they don’t serve table water and you must buy bottled water if you want a drink (first place I’ve ever been to in Australia like this) Got myself a ginger beer from the fridge and realised it was Aldi brand.

The vibe of the restaurant is nice and cozy. Service is friendly. But we were disappointed by the food. Why ? The pasta was totally over cooked. The dish it self lacked taste :(. I mean its a Italian restaurant, you’d expect a decent pasta dish right? Lot of people are raving about authentic Italian food but the dishes were made without love or care. Wish I could have said otherwise, we won’t be coming back 😔.

Just had the most amazing Italian meal in a long time. I could hear other people on nearby tables saying similar. What a fantastic lunch. Pizza and pasta were all wonderful.

The smells permeating as we passed pulled us back to this quaint little restaurant. We had a garlic pizza which had a good base w a slight crunch on the bottom yet still had enough thickness without being heavy. Who knew a simple spaghetti w chilli, garlic and little bit of spinach could taste so good. We also tried the Vienna schnitzel which was also tasty w a light crumb. The service was good and reasonably priced. What a lovely little surprise ETNA is. Highly recommend it.

Delicious authentic taste of southern Italy. Meatballs were very satisfying. Garlic prawns have a knock-out flavour, but disappointed with paying mains price for 6 prawns.

Such a great place... one of the originals offering generous, fresh and delicious food.. bring a bottle of wine as it's BYO (no corkage) with some friends and have a great meal.. looking forward to this place becoming a regular

Wednesday night 28th December Feeling Extremely disappointed after dining at the Etna tonight. Common chef you need to pick your game up if you want customers to return . Not good enough . Neither of us ate our meal . Left feeling very annoyed down $78.00 expensive meal for our dog . The front of house manager was very appreciative about my rather negative comments about our meal and in particular about the " veal" and the garlic bread both hard and dry . Overall bad experience!!!

Had dinner there NYE. Was disappointed that things on menu was not available, especially the arancini balls. My husbands seafood pasta was fabulous but my risotto was undercooked but lovely flavour. Bar & restaurant staff were very friendly & helpful though. Would like to try other menu items in the future.
