Review Hotel Delany Restaurant - Newcastle

First time coming here as was in town over Easter and we weren't disappointed! Had a couple of burgers and beers and all were great! Chips were cooked so well and arrived fresh, crispy and hot. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

Good spot for lunch. Love catching up with friends here. There are two options on the lunch menu for fish and chips. One has salad and the other just has a whole lot of chips. Worth checking if you are keen for some veggies other than potato!

Favourite popular recently renovated Hotel Delany has friendly atmosphere good pub food and wide selection of beers, spirits ciders. We enjoyed sitting outside area people watching on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s opposite many cafes & restaurants. There is a Drive-thru Bottle shop that has a wide range of good wines and all the beers and spirits. Hotel Delany is an icon of Darby Street.

The food is delicious, we used to go most Wednesdays but have stopped as there seems to be a wine supply issue. Every time our group goes there is no Pinot Noir in stock by the glass (even though it is on the menu) and most other reds are frequently sold out by the glass. I am not much of a reviewer but we have questioned the staff multiple times about this issue but it continues to be a problem. Dying to come back and enjoy the delicious food, let me know when there’s some Pinot available 😂

This review is meant to be constructive. I work I hospo and have been here twice this week and I have to say, far out man this place is horrible atm. We. Went in for dinner and couldn’t find a single table or menu that wasn’t sticky. One of the tables outside even had 100s of ants crawling over the sticky menu left there and the staff seemed to not see it at all. Apart from this, half the tables were littered with empty glass and plates that were never cleared. Multiple staff standing around behind the bar chatting while tables are dirty? Come on… also, the food… I ordered a med rare steak which was basically blu. Fish which was well over cooked. In my restaurant this food would have never left the pass because it was visually below standard. The venue itself is in a huge state of disrepair with barriers set up everywhere blocking off walkways, evatoes, duct tape holding the bathrooms together. The next day I went there and the same story. 15 patrons in the venue and it took 15 minutes for me to get my espresso martini… my mate and I went to play pool and the open door next to the pool tables had blown tree leaves all over the carpet which no staff member made any effort to clean up. Guys, take more pride in your venue…. Staff we’re really really nice but the venue just looks like absolute garbage. No one cleans tables, desperate repairs needed everywhere. No one cleans ANYTHING, food was made badly.

Great food. Great staff. Just under-prepared for the bookings they had. Lucky we had extra time.

Decent pub grub. Slow cooked lamb pasta was small for the price, but the burgers where pretty good. Stick to the basics.

Dirty tables, unfriendly staff and dismissive management. Very ordinary selection of beers on tap. Used to love this pub in its heyday but won't be going back again.
