Review Arrivederci Restaurant - Newcastle

My boyfriend and I went here to order a large garlic prawns and a large ham and pineapple pizza. We ordered, they were nice, told us it would be 20 minutes. All good. We came back after 18 minutes, I was keeping time, and just politely waited for our order. 30 minutes had gone, we could see that our pizza was ready just sitting on the bench but no garlic prawns. We just waited there and one of the staff said they would go check the kitchen for our prawns. She came back out and said they're just starting to make them now (this was at 42 minutes). Another 10 minutes had gone and the prawns finally came out. The staff didn't even apologise for the wait. We went to the beach later to eat out dinner, was hot and nice but seriously, I have attached photos of the prawns. We ordered a large garlic prawns, we received 7, and they cost us $22 for the garlic prawns alone. Really disappointed.

Amazing food! The pasta was cooked perfectly and the portion sizes were decent. Recommended for when you are starving! But what made it was the service :) the girl who served us was Hannah and she explained the dishes really well and always had a smile on her face which made the experience 100%.

Food is wonderful here. Service is friendly too. Don't be put off by the spartan and simple decor. One of my friend who is Italian said you don't see this type of places anymore in Australia with its traditional and simple style of cooking.

I ate a farewell dinner with some of my Japanese friends here, it was unforgettable night and the Italian staffs there were very friendly and the pasta was great.

Brilliant food! Great place to go for a night out. The food was perfectly cooked and the pizzas were top shelf and the spaghetti was cooked absolutely spectacularly it was the best spaghetti I’ve ever eaten! I would suggest for anyone on any occasion! This brilliant venue is by far the best Italian restaurant in The Hunter I have ever experienced! All in all a rate it: 5 stars for those reasons

Very disappointing! We have been here many times before and rated it as our favourite place to dine out but tonight left us disgusted in the food and service. Clearly the original staff were not there or are no longer there?? We were a group of three adults and two toddlers. We booked ahead to find no table reserved. We sat down with only three other tables occupied in the restaurant but had to still ask twice for high chairs whilst our children were left standing next to our table. We arrived at 6 and ordered fairly quickly. The restaurant quickly filled and we were served burnt garlic bread as we waited for our mains. By 6:50pm we asked what was happening with our mains. Our order had not even made it from the front counter to the kitchen. This was then followed by complete ignorance from the manager who ignored us. Not even an apology. When we requested the waitress bring the manager to our table again we were ignored. Eventually the manager came over making a joke about forgetting colouring in for our children whilst they waited (the least of our worry). We were then told a barrage of excuses as to why our food had not yet arrived and still no apology. Eventually the manager just walked off and proceeded to serve other customers. Once our food arrived it was clear it had been rushed. It was tasteless and powdery. When we went to pay the bill the manager again proceeded to try to talk around the issue of accepting they stuffed up and apologising only to then have the kitchen staff abruptly approach us and order us to leave the restaurant. Absolute disgusting service from what used to be a great restaurant. Shame to see it has gone down hill so far. We will never return.

I visited this place with my family for a birthday. I reserved 2 weeks in advance. Table was not reserved. It was too cold, we were shivering. The lady who took our order was nice and offered to turn temperature up. After that we received, possibly, the worst restaurant service/experience in Newcastle. Food well below average. The bolognese pasta sauce had been burnt and "saved" (not) by adding loads of tomato paste and sugar. My 13yo could not stomach it. Sicilian spaghetti sf was nice but sauce thick and gooey. Pizza too much cheese, base below standard. We ordered Tartufo and got served Tiramisu instead, which was supermarket quality. Dessert was served on our table still covered with dirty plates and left overs from mains, disgusting. At end of night, whilst at the counter to pay the bill I questioned the lady about serving a tiramisu instead of a tartufo. The lady reiterated that the dessert we got was indeed tartufo. Whilst discussing this, a waiter behind me was making fun of me with rude gestures and laughter. He did that until he accidentally made eye contact with my husband and my children waiting for me at the door, who witnessed the scene. A complete utter train wreck from start to finish. Ruined my daughter's birthday dinner. Never ever again.

Been coming here for years. Sicilian pasta spaghetti is a must if you like seafood or Al Mondo. Service is ok but food comes pretty quick and is so good. Pizzas are great and all pasta serves are huge if you order a large. Licensed and BYO
