Review The Glebe Takeaway - Newcastle

Moira Duewell
Very, very disappointing. Used to enjoy this place, but the last two times have been terrible. Last time everything was overcooked and very oily. This time the cocktail fish tasted old, the calamari ring were rubbery and tasted bad, the potato scallops were heavy and undercooked - all inedible. No leftovers as it went in the bin. The only reason for any stars is that the kids said 'the chips aren't burnt this time' and 'they actually taste pretty good'. So, we'll be going to the beach or harbour for fish and chips next time.

Absolutely disguisting bought $100 worth of takeaway and had had throw most of it out not fresh and tasted awful and rubbery. To top it off the woman was very rude didn't even say anything when I would ask her something just nod and point....obviously didn't want to be there ! Not a good look for customers.

Wish i could put 0 stars ! Overpriced and terrible quality. Felt instantly sick after eating small portion of the burger, and the scallops were so burnt we just put them straight in the bin. Very disappointing from what used to be a favourite takeaway.

Got the veggie burger and small chips. Decent prices for the amount of food. Classic fish and chip shop large amounts of chips. Very friendly staff despite being very busy (public holiday, one of few places open!)

Great place for afternoon fish and chips. Grab a feed and duck around the corner to the beach for views to satisfy anyone.

Felt like fish & chips and headed to Glebe Takeaway. I was asked regular or chicken salt? Thanks to that stupid Optus TV ad I avoided saying both and breaking out into dance. Sorry, back to the food and chicken salt was the choice - seafood pack: Small chips, 2 cocktail fish, 2 prawn cutlets, 1 seafood stick, 2 calamari rings, 2 tartare sauce Lovely crunchy chips with adequate salt, perfectly crunchy battered tender fish, crunchy crumbed prawn cutlets, yummy calamari and with a squeeze of lemon and tartare sauce, even better. Lovely friendly service too and the wait was short. #fishandchips #chips #prawncutlet #calamari #lemon #tartaresauce #lunch #takeaway #cashonly #foodie #newcastle #newcastlensw #newcastleaustralia @newcastle_nsw_Australia #newcastlefoodies #newcastlefoodie #newyfoodie #newyeats #novacastrian @zomatoaus

Chips are absolutely horrible.. half cooked.. don't know what's happened in the passed couple of years but they've gone downhill so bad 😪

Bloody superb fish and chips. Can be a little slow, depending on the number of staff they have working, but generally worth the wait.
