Review Cbd Hotel - Newcastle

Thomas Trowbridge
You get what you pay for. Very small room and staff are not very polite. Asked for 2 more pillows for the room and he only brang one. Entrance to the rooms you have to walk through a dark ally way. There are communal showers and bathroom so no private bathrooms in room. Overall if you just need somewhere to sleep cheap for the night than go for it otherwise spend the extra money and get a decent hotel that provides all of the necessities.

The hotel is kept clean and the staff are very friendly. It's very basic accommodation and it has a communal bathroom, but it ticked the boxes for me...a convenient place to stay for one night while I did some work nearby. The mattress and pillows were comfortable. It wasn't super cheap, but breakfast was included, so it's good value overall.

Basic room with 3 beds, a mini fridge and sink. Clean and tidy. Strange walk from check-in to the rooms, down a little sketchy side path. Shared bathroom was ok. Kind of like any other public shared bathroom. Fine for a budget overnight stay.

As a place to stay it's terrible! Entry to hotel was down a dark, dingy, smelly alley beside the pub. Rooms are musty and dank - windows either don't open or don't close. Room was only just bigger than the bed. Most rooms have shared bathroom. A few slightly larger ones have ensuites. Bathrooms - both ensuite and shared/communal - haven't been updated since it was built (50s or 60s?). Totally overpriced for what you get. Saving grace was the breakfast (included in rate), which was quite good. As a pub, meals and drinks were fine.

Finally! A place in Newcastle that has a play area for kids!! The play area was great. They need umbrellas for the tables outside as it's too hot and sunny for sitting and eating outside so you can supervise kids playing. Menu was really basic but service was great.

Celebrating a friend's engagement, the hotel was great for this type of event. The finger food was tasty and came out regularly. Quick service at the bar and plenty of room for everyone.

You get exactly what you pay for, and a bit more here. Staff are great, rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable and in a handy location to everything in town. The food is great and well priced for anyone on a budget. If you're looking for a place to put your head down without costing a fortune this is ideal, unlike budget accommodations, this has everything you need, meeting areas for friends and business, bistro, bar, entertainment and pokies too. Will stay here again.

I only came for food at lunch time. The building is well looked after, kept very clean but the interior is a tid bit outdated. The staff are lovely and provided great service. However the food was just average, nothing too exciting.
