Review Leroy's Cafe - Newport

Great menu and lovely people. Really delicious burgers and healthy options but the chai latte was a little let down. Also a bit cold during breezy day.

Great place for lunch or anytime of the day. Nice vibe, good service and great for kids as well.
Hello There
I had the hollan daze for brunch. I couldn't have poached eggs and asked for scrambled instead. The staff were accommodating and lovely. The food was cooked well and the ingredients used were fresh. If your there, I recommend giving this dish a go. :)

Food: Excellent choice of cafe food. Fresh. Service: Fast and friendly. Location: Right next to the playground (accessible through back) and library. Value: Well priced. Summary: Great for families. We went back to Newport and decided to try out the cafe down the road, which also looks nice. However they stopped doing food after a certain time, so we went back to Leroys for lunch. Highly recommended!

The overall food quality is okay but I recommend against the miso ramen on the current menu.

Great food, great atmosphere, and fantastic customer service. Just across from the station and great value for money, with lots of seating options and child friendly facilities. A lovely brunch spot!

This place has a lovely eggs Benedict served on hash browns with a lovely zingy pear and rocket salad. Had great service from kind Italian Lass...she loved I recognised her accent...coffee is always excellent!!

Had to wait 15 minutes for my take-away coffee, and they didn’t even get my simple order correct and had to be re-made. Their service has always been slow, but this morning took the cake. Need to up the pace on your take away coffee making!

Lovely covered outdoor area, great service even though it was busy and all tables were occupied. One thing that can be improved on is the kids pancake dish - pancakes were dense, dry and cakey even though they looked fluffy and the ice cream and fairy floss side was not enough to add moisture. Our waiter was happy to source some maple syrup upon request. Perhaps an alternative option of fresh fruit or berries and condiment would be nice. Otherwise lovely atmosphere and will go back

Over the weekend, my boyfriend and I came in for lunch. We didn't have a heap of time, but the service we received was prompt. Our food and great, the coffee was good, but there was one issue... The man next to us was so, so difficult. To shorten the story a little, the first waiter that served the man next to us explained the menu, and the broccolini pasta, so the man ordered it. It came to the table, and the man was upset he received a whole bowl of pasta with a little broccolini, rather than a bowl of broccolini with a little bit of pasta (this was explained to him initially). The waiter that came over to help was SO great; offering a replacement meal, offering extra sides, and then taking the meal off the bill. I've worked in hospitality for 8 years, and I've seen it all. Hospitality workers aren't commended enough for the hard work they do, dealing with some of the most difficult people, but this guy handled it so well, so I just wanted to say well done! I'd appreciate if this was passed along to the waiter, he was wearing a white collared shirt, and has blonde in his hair! Thanks for a good meal!

With their backyard renovation, it is the best cafe in the west so far for a family with little kids! Adults can relax and actually enjoy the food, and their menu is quite impressive too!
Fino Zumpano
Great coffee and best burger!!? The backyard is a great place for parents to relax while kids enjoy themselves. Highly recommended

Awesome place for a coffee and breakfast... busy place but consistent and always return ....

Great little cafe that takes you away from the busy street side to be treated with good hospitality, smiles and service.<br/>The menu offers a great selection of really healthy, fresh tasty eats as well as some more indulgent options.<br/>The interior is great to sit amongst and the attention to details in both their menu and the venue makes Leroys a great brunch, lunch or eating choice.<br/>Will be back for more here.

If you want a cafe that is perfect for kids then this is that place. Enjoy your meal while the kids enjoy the cubby hut.<br/>The staff are very friendly and the food is pretty good too!

I chose Leroys for Saturday brunch based on the good rating on Zomato as we were looking for a cafe at Newport. Leroys is within walking distance from the train station. The cafe was quite packed when we arrived but we got a table for two right away. Quite a nice cafe and has a good vibes. We ordered the breakfast burger, Newport Hollan Daze and coffee. Service was a little slow maybe because they were busy and it took awhile for someone to take our order. One of the poached eggs was overdone and I think there’s too much hash browns. I would have preferred a classic egg Benedict with a good hollandaise sauce.

I have wanted to try this place out for awhile. I like the side of town, the menu and it’s kid friendly with a playground. Out of the 4 staff members on the floor only 2 were friendly. Coffee was a complete miss. We had the bagels, muffins and avo. They were all good except the bagels had barely anything filling. Definitely some potential but room for improvement.

AMAZING - this place is so amazing!! We came for a quick brunch this morning and staff were attentive and lovely. The coffee is Campos and so delicious. Highly recommend the smashed peas with haloumi. There’s a great playground in the back for kids. Will so definitely be back!!!

Service was quick and friendly. Cappuccino was smooth and froth, creamy. Also lovely croissant. Maybe could have been warmed up but overall no complaints.

Great little cafe next to a reserve. Good coffee and had friendly service. We sat at the courtyard which was semi sheltered from the sun with a nice breeze coming through the opened windows. Orders came through fairly fast even though the cafe was fairly busy. Will come back

Nice coffee, service is okay but could be better as some are friendly and helpful and some not #bizarre I ordered the the greens plate (can’t remember exact name) with a slice of sourdough and loved it! Good for a nice cleaner meal, my friend had the zucchini fritters that you can see in the background however she said they weren’t all that great. It’s a shame most of their meals don’t come without bread or an alternative carb
Meteor_rain_7
Very nice brunch, the place is easy to find, next to the Newport station. I had the Newport Hollan Daze with bacon, LOVE the crispy bacon, and there is a lot of bacon, some brunch places I have been before only gives couple of strips, definitely adds to the points. The only thing I would suggest about this is to add a slice of bread, I am not a big bread person but because is the hollandaise sauce is a bit salty, a little bit is bread would be nice. Hubby had the Ultimate Chicken Burger, LOVE the mac and cheese croquet, wish we can order this on the side, maybe we can, I am not sure. But WOW so yummy. But I think that’s the only thing good about the burger, the chicken was a bit to dry for me, didn’t tick any of my boxes, hubby gave me a piece of the chicken but I can’t finish it cos it’s too dry. Hubby quite like it , he didn’t mind the dry chicken, but he said he prob won’t order again. I REALLY suggest putting the mac and cheese croquet as a side to order, it is so good.

Staff were AMAZING! So lovely and great service. Very kid friendly and the park/outdoor area was great. Food is also delicious. Will definitely return!

The place is a bit too warm for me as they open all doors and windows. Not sure if the AC was on that day? It was such a warm morning. Anyway my pesto bagel was delicious, nicely toasted with decent amount of filling. The Newport Hollan Daze was rather small though.. thought for $19.50 we could at least get a bigger potato rosti or something. One of the eggs was no longer runny. Service was good, no complaint there.
Hello. Imnikki
I have been on a sweet binge lately, and my run continued at Leroys. With the name "OMG WTF Nutella Waffle", I had to order this to find out what level of OMG and WTF I would be experiencing. Call it research, if you will.<br/><br/>When the dish arrived, it was indeed an OMG moment, WTF somewhat less because I'm trying to cut down on swearing. A chocolate waffle topped with Oreo mousse, strawberries, cookies and cream ice cream, drizzled with Nutella and finished off with an upside down waffle cone. Hello Instagram! Beautiful dish, and beautifully executed. The waffle could be a bit fluffier, but taste-wise it was a great balance of sweet and chocolatey. The light airy mousse, the fresh strawberries, the creamy ice cream, the crispy waffle cone, and of course, the lashing of rich Nutella all came together to create a symphony of texture and flavours.<br/><br/>My partner went for the Newport Hollan Daze, and this hit the spot as well. The hash browns were golden and crisped, albeit some might find it a bit too well-seasoned. The smashed avo helped balance out the robust flavours of the other ingredients, and who could resist that porky sweet and salty goodness of the bacon? Tender, slightly fatty, with edges that produce a crunch with each bite.<br/><br/>Our skinny lattes were good, but not great. A bit weak, but still pleasant. The delicious food, and the personable and extremely efficient service, made this easy to overlook.<br/><br/>FYI - some dishes have the Instagram symbol next to it so if you're after some likes, you know what to order!

Bitter coffee (burnt beans, which is a tragedy for someone serving Sydney's superior blend) and I am unsure if they knew what a ristretto is . . .because they forgot it then brought us an espresso without sparkling water.<br/><br/>I guess they can do better, or maybe I just have Sydney expectations for coffee . . .

Small place with really nice options of food, the outside area is a great option for a nice coffee during afternoon during summer! Also ofer nice desserts and juices

Visited today and waited 25 mins for a breakfast dish whilst there were roughly only six other people in the place, all having drinks. A woman with two children who came in after me got their chips ahead of my meal coming. The meal was cold on arrival. I ordered an iced cafe latte that came in a cup with a little ice. Apparently, the glasses being given to others having cold drinks were not to be used for my cold drink as the barista wanted to use the cup. Completely underwhelming, but the staff had good chats with each other so I guess that is all that matters.

Really nice feed - well-priced, great quality, simple produce done well and the portion sizes are really decent. The Campos coffee always goes down well too and haven’t had a bad coffee yet. Have been a few times now on recommendation from a local regular - can see why it’s a go-to. Looking forward to returning!

Love coming here. Brekky is lovely. On top of all, I love that I can enjoy my meal while my son plays on the playground. Very kid friendly. Good job!
Brunch Queen 👑
Popular cafe serving breakfast like any other Melbourne brunch cafe.<br/><br/>This place gets busy so after a short wait we were seated and coffees were promptly delivered. Have to say I rarely order coffee only because I believe nothing beats our home beans. However on this occasion I did but wasted my time with a milky weak coffee flavour (self confessed coffee snob). I enjoyed poached eggs with a side of avocado and hallumi, nothing too fancy but good. My friend had the waffles and was disappointed to find they were dry and cold, did not eat as well as it looked.
Melbourne With Kidz
LEROY'S CAFE NEW PORT<br/>Leroy's cafe located in New Ports is a Perfect way to spend your mornings the cafe has both Play time & brekkie sorted with the kids.<br/><br/>Leroys has a Great play area with Cubby house, slide, undercover sandpit, chalkboard, toys that the kids can use, while you enjoy your coffee and meal. Bonus families can use the smallideasmelb App and receive a free kids meal with every adult meal purchase. <br/><br/>Highly recommend Leroy's for a relaxing brunch great food, staff are very friendly, the outdoor area has a great design allowing parents to relax while watching their kids play.<br/><br/>

Nice. Good coffee. Chicken tacos were good. Nice Attentive wait staff. Good back area play equipment for children to play while parents brunch.

Leroy's was a really nice spot to stop by for food! Love the unique architecture (especially the wooden shed!) and the food here is fun.<br/><br/>We had the Magic Mushrooms, the Newport Hollan Daze and the Loaded Fries with Leroy's secret sauce. Nothing to complain about the food, I love the tartness on the hollandaise, the Magic Mushrooms are a must-try for all vegos :)
Michreviews
Nice place near my neighbourhood. Serves up healthy breakfast/brunch. Literally don’t seen any meat in brekkie section. Portion is more towards the delicate side (except waffles). Probably feel nothing to a big eater like my partner. Waffles is dense and feels more like a muffin/brownie that is protein packed. Its not the usual airy waffles with crispy edge. Not bad but I guess its a bad choice to pick something with ice cream for brunch (partner picked it cos it says recommended or something 😂). Would be dropping by soon I guess. Wish to try their scones which I saw some tables ordering that.

When a cafe catches you from the corner of you eye you know its something special. This cafe is nothing short of understated. Styling is on point and definitely makes it inviting. Smiles all round and lovely service. A great coffee to compliment the well constructed breakfast no complaints at all! Good Food, Good Coffee, Good People, Good Vibes 👍

Leroy’s motto “Good food, good coffee , good people, good vibes” and you definitely get a sense of all of it when you enter the vibrantly decorated cafe. Predominantly focused for the breakfast crowd but has a thoughtful lunch and salad option if you that’s what you’re after. I chose The Nomad and it delivered exactly how it was written on the menu with great flavours, thoughtful presentation and a generous portion being the key highlights. Complimenting the food Leroy makes a great coffee with one leaving you wanting a little more. Well done to the team at Leroy!

Beautiful place, have an outdoor area great for mums with youngsters. We came here on a very cold day, and since they turned on the heater outside, we decided to sit on the indoor/outdoor adjoining area to have our lunch. I imagine this cafe must be a lovely place to hang out during summer days.<br/>I had a beetroot latte and LFC burger for lunch. I loved the burger. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the mayo slaw was a great addition to the burger.<br/>The beetroot latte tasted so much like chai latte, and was very powdery at the end of the sip.<br/>Staff were very attentive.

oh dear zomato, please bring the 0.5's back in the ratings. I cannot give Leroys 4 stars, but they deserve more than 3.<br/>Went here on a Friday because I was in the area. Cafe looks nice and has a nice undercover outdoor area. Service was friendly but nothing exceptional. I took the Magic Mushrooms. Presentation is awesome, it looked really good. Flavours not convinced. Something was too salty in this dish (maybe the rosti or the mushrooms.. or both.. I couldn't quite figure it out). Also the combination of flavours in this dish didn't really work. It was plenty of food and it did fill me up well. If it would've been possible I would've given 3.5 stars.

Always amazing food and coffee. Been here several times over the last 6 years and it never disappoints. Staff are very attentive and friendly also.

the coffee is pretty good but i just don't go here because i find the staff not very friendly or consistent. its quite crowded too unless you go out the back. hard to get in and out of with a pram.
The Dear Luncher
Yo Leroy!<br/><br/>How good is it seeing an old house/premises converted into a new world cafe? This expansive and cavernous charmer is a great example of how this can be done successfully. <br/><br/>The menu is largely geared towards brekkie but it's certainly got some solid lunch options too. That was the reason Your Dear Luncher was present, a Sunday lunch. There are a lot of burgers on the menu and three of them were ordered. The odd man out has the smoked trout bagel (weirdo). Your Dear Luncher ordered the LFC. This was a burger made up of Southern crispy buttermilk fried chicken, fresh tomato & siracha mayo slaw, served on a black brioche bun & side of fries. The Dear Luncher has smashed many fried chicken burgers in his day, and this one was just OK. The chicken was a little bit underwhelming. However the disappointment came mainly from the abundance of siracha mayo. It made for a sloppy experience, which can sometimes be OK but siracha mayo (this one in particular) does have a tendency to overpower. <br/><br/>The two beef burgers ordered were thoroughly enjoyed. Reports from the weirdo who ordered the trout bagel were that it was a little salty. The experience at Leroy’s was excellent though. Plenty of space for a Little Luncher to run around ... efficient and friendly service, despite the chaos that was Mother’s Day Lunch.

Lovely cafe in Newport with friendly staff and good service. I had the smashed peas with halloumi which which was super tasty. Another fave was the panna cotta. <br/>If you’re visiting on the weekend they do bottomless mimosas!!!

I was a bit hesitant going to Leroys after seeing so many Instagram posts as it was such a long drive for me, all I could do was hope that it would be worth the long drive and thankfully it was ! The service and the food was impeccable, kudos to all the lovely staff that I got to interact with that day. <br/><br/>I went with 2 friends and we ordered 4 dishes between the three of us . The granola panacotta which was probably the most stunning dish has officially changed my view of granola! I loved how it was not too sweet and the amount of fruit they give you really balances out the creaminess of the pana itself and makes the milk you pour into the granola extremely refreshing. <br/><br/>We also got the magic mushrooms which had a great combo mix of different types of mushrooms which differentiated it from other cafes as usually you would only get the button mushrooms sauteed in some kind of garlic butter or herb butter .<br/><br/>The tacos we ordered were also a stand out , there was so much flavor in them it was truly a party in my mouth ! <br/><br/>Lastly we got the Nomad which consisted of a fried eggplant on garlic labneh, this was also delicious and a great middle eastern inspired dish.<br/><br/>Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Leroy's and highly recommend it, whether if your thinking is it worth the drive or if you want to check out somewhere local, it will be worth your time
The City Lane
Leroy’s philosophy is “Good food, good coffee, good people, good vibes!” and this is exactly how we felt when we entered the café. It's a great place to enjoy and day of the week.
Melbourne To Mouth
Absolutely loving this gorgeous little spot in Newport! With a deceivingly large space and lovely outdoor (weatherproof) patio, it’ll be great year round!<br/><br/>If you’re up for brekky or lunch, there’ll be something on the menu to tickle your fancy. We went for a couple of their shakes to start - chocolate and strawberry - both huge and almost a meal in themselves. The aptly named OMG WTF Nutella waffle was exactly that - one of the most instagram worthy dishes I’ve had in quite some time. So many different textures and flavours going on instead of just chocolate which isn’t all that common in sweeter breakfast dishes. Their burgers all looked amazing and didn’t disappoint either, stuffed full of all the goods and a hugely filling meal. Round it out with one of their bloody Mary’s and you will have had yourself a good time!<br/><br/>Definitely one to add to your brunch list.
Eat_today_diet_tomorrow
Friendly, cosy and cool cafe near Newport station.<br/><br/>We were lucky enough to try the OMG WTF nutella waffle, dukk dukk dukkah and their special beetroot & sweet potato rosti. Everything was great, absolutely nothing to complain about.<br/><br/>We also got to try their Espress-yourself Martini. To be honest, this is really good (taste-wise), but it's a little too strong for me to drink the morning. If you like some kick in your drink, this is definitely something to try.<br/><br/>Would come back again if we had the chance!

West Of Melbourne
Leroys cafe is located just west of Newport station. It is the perfect spot if you plan to have breakfast with little ones, both human and animal, with you. For the children there is a private playground at the back and there is a separate enclosed outside seating area if you have a pet. There is heating available on colder days. They have a respectable kids menu as well.

Been here for my first time, Spectacular! Nice cafe, kids friendly cafe to hang out, lovely coffee and nice breakfast. I just had a wonderful saturday with my family. Definitely going back! ❤️
Good Food Good Mood
We dined as guests of Leroy’s cafe on the weekend and fortunately it was worth the trek all the way across the other side of town. I really loved the set up. They have taken great care in all the little details and offer a space that is unlike any other. For a start they have an entire playground outside with tables surrounding it so families can come and parents can have their breakfast or coffee whilst the little people are kept well entertained. They also have another outside area on the other side of the cafe which is enclosed but can be opened up in the warmer weather that is pet friendly. Once again the little personal touches are evident here, there’s a heater installed but there are also blankets available and family friendly books to read and colouring in pencils for the kids.<br/>The inside is just as well thought out with an abundance of house made sweet treats and a Sunday special of bottomless mimosas. <br/>I kicked off with the cool running’s juice which was a yummy fruity concoction of watermelon, apple pineapple and orange. We then decided to share our meals and went for the smashing, açai bowl and chicken taco. <br/>I started with the smashing and while this is a pretty simple dish they really made it shine. Often this breakfast classic is served with a wedge of lime but this was so perfectly and deliciously seasoned it was one of the most enjoyable avo dishes I’ve had. The açai itself was quite sweet so well paired with the slight tartness of the strawberries and the acidity of the passionfruit. A very well balanced smoothie bowl. The taco was actually two tacos generously overflowing with yummy fresh ingredients. This one has quite a kick so make sure you have a Bloody Mary on hand to wash it down. <br/>Overall I’m more than a little upset that I live an hour away. Genuinely friendly staff a great community atmosphere and fantastic food. What’s not to like?!

Coffee was good and the staff were friendly. Presentation of the food was also nice. My partner enjoyed his meal and the menu had different options.

easily the best cafe in the west if not all of melbourne a credit to the owners for creating such a ambient space love leroys and will travel 45mins some sundays just for a leroys fix :)

Leroy's in Newport is a must visit cafe if you are in the area. Leroy's caters for all dietary requirements, with their super nourishing menu. There is a lovely reserve nearby for the kids to explore, or they can enjoy some quiet time at the local library around the corner. @plantbasedmum_

Nice breakfast place.. staff were friendly & acommodating.<br/>Food was good, not the best acai i’ve tried as it was not that cold. Panna cotta was tasty & both were beautifully presented.<br/>Table was a bit sticky so could have done with a wipe down.

Leroys never disappoints. Delicious, generous breakfasts, tasty fresh juice combos and consistently good coffee. If Newport is home be sure to check it out!
Gravy Lover
The food is nice and decent servings a bit on the high side of the price scale , But that’s just cafes these days. Ive had 4 terrible burnt coffees at this place and after each time I just hoped it would be nicer the next time I visited, Because who doesn’t like having a lovely breakfast with a good cup of coffee. I will still eat there but the coffee sucks and at over $4 for a coffee it’s a shame .
Janita Jenice
Average food, slow service<br/>Good coffee<br/><br/>Had the chicken burger recently, it took an hour to arrive, for too much sauce bun was soggy and inedible.
Lucysfrench
Loved Leroys! Easy to get to, a minutes walk from Newport station. Friendly staff which didn’t mind us sitting at the table for 2 hours. Food came out reasonably quick and delicious too! The açai bowl was excellent! Definitely recommend.
Wing Chan
I used to visit this cafe nearly 5 days a week, not because the food is great, but the location is convenient. Food is ok there, presentation is good, taste is average. Mocha latte is the best in this cafe, my second favourite would be their scone. Coffee is generally a bit sour to me.
Brunch Diaries
Leroys is an interesting looking cafe right at the gates of Newport station. At first glance you wouldn’t be struck down for assuming it was some sort of pizzeria or Italian restaurant due to the decor and neon sign. It has an interesting wooden enclosed garden to the side and a garden to the rear. This was my first visit and even though some of the reviews seem a little hit and miss the hope lingered that the food would be good, it wasn’t. The mark of two out of five is for the friendly service, the coffee and the wooden enclosed garden but if you serve an Eggs benedict made up of packet hollandaise! Frozen hash browns, cheap thin sliced bacon and a handfull of undressed rocket you get zero marks. Not in the current cafe climate that Melbourne offers. Not in any climate come to mind. If you want to charge top dollar( and leroys clearly do) then you will find yourself compared. I️ found the two small chicken tacos below that of any local pub or Mexican restaurant I’ve recently visited but at least there the dearer side of 17 dollars was not charged for them. 8.50 each for a chicken taco is insulting especially given its bland under seasoned flavour. Newport really needs a good cafe. That cafe is not Leroys.
MY NAmE IS Lee
Leroy’s cafe is modern with a nice fit out. For our visit we had The Big Dog and also the McLeroy Burger with soy hot chocolate and cappuccino. <br/><br/>The Big Dog was pretty good with a lot of flavour, but it is pretty much a hot dog at $16.90, so not sure if it’s good value. The McLeroy Burger looked good on the menu but in reality for us it was a bit disappointing with a flavourless patty that is dwarfed in the bun, and the chips were big but not a good texture.<br/><br/>The coffee and hot chocolate were both good.<br/><br/>Overall our experience in Leroy was ok, but would look to try other places when next in Newport.

Love love love! My daughter and i are regulars here during the week! The coffee and play area are always well received and loved by us! The menu changes and akways has tasty specials as well as well loved favourites!

Grabbed a Coffee here this morning. The service was excellent and quick, given that I was there early today. <br/><br/>The strong skinny latte was good although I was missing froth on the latte, it was more like a flat white. <br/><br/>Other than that it was good and I’ll definitely go back. <br/>

AMAZING!!! Went here yesterday, I had the OMG pancakes! Incredible, couldn't finish it, but pancakes and popping candy? How can you go wrong?! My mother had the porridge which she thoroughly enjoyed, can't wait to go back!

Haven't been here in years, glad we stopped in today! It was busy as expected for a weekend but service and food were super quick. Very friendly staff, plenty of seating options and kid friendly. Would definitely go again.

Lovely welcoming space, if you can avoid the toddlers running rampant. Food and coffee terrific.<br/>Have eaten lunch several times..i've tried some of the simple dishes from the counter-trout bagel and cronuts delicious, and also heartier menu items which have never disappointed.

'Get smashed by Avo' or 'Climb the tower of Rocket', this is how it felt.<br/> I thought I'd go back to this venue as been over 6 months but been going for a long time as I loved their smash and other healthy options but today after driving a bit of of my way I was left disappointed and subdued. <br/>It was Choca-bloc busy as their seating arrangements could be improved as most patrons took two tables even though it was two persons and the last thing you want to do is sit and scoff next to people you don't know!!!!<br/>I had to sit on a high stool next to brick wall and I was struggling to use my arms as a bit squishy but at least the kind waitress found me a spot:)<br/>The fresh Chilli was weak like eating capsicum and it didn't fire me up so I got another bowl of it but it didn't matter. The toast seemed like Coles loaf cut up as it had no real taste like some sourdough should particularly as you need to cut it thicker than standard. There was too much pepita and sunflower kernels as it was crackling inside my mouth like that crackling gum you can buy (the stuff I ate in the late 70's/80's).<br/>The coffee was above standard but I had to wait a long time to get served and when I did it took a while to get my coffee as parking around there is atrocious and I only had a half hour so had to eat fast. I'd probably go again maybe for their beef burger or soft shell crab burger, ohh and coffee.<br/>
Sapur3
Your lovely Swedish waitress (sorry didn't ask for her name) was so accomodating and cheerful. Some of the people in our group had difficult requirements but she was patient about it all. Had the smashed avo which was fantastic. Would go again when I'm next down this way

Oh Leroy, where have you been all my life? Well for the last year or so, in little old Newport, but why did I wait so long to visit? As a quality food and coffee deprived mum of two, of late my outings have been limited to child friendly venues, where the kiddies are happy, but my tastebuds are left feeling rather neglected (hence my lack of blog posts lately!). But that’s about to stop thanks to this amazing cafe that offers good coffee, delicious food and has an onsite playground for the kiddies. You read right fellow mumma’s! Good food and coffee while the kiddies are entertained for hours in the cubby house. That’s my kinda bliss!
Anafantasia
This place is such a great find! The back area with a playground is amazing. The staff is lovely. The food is good, prices aren't bad and they offer a variety of dishes for the little ones. Will come back many times.

A friendly café that ticks the right boxes, you could say it almost Le-roars!<br/><br/>Leroy's has a lot of elements going for it. It's right next to Newport train station, a large park and a playground. It's easy to get to and there's heaps of space, play area with a blackboard, toys and small seats for the little ones to enjoy.<br/><br/>It's split into three areas which allows for different views and accommodates many customers, thankfully, as it can get busy.<br/><br/>There's an all-day breakfast menu that's extensive with all the usual suspects.<br/><br/>Coffee is smooth, creamy and hard to fault, which is paramount for a café and the chocolate milkshake is delicious, full of chocolate flavour.<br/><br/>We ordered the Baked Eggs on Fire with Spanish style sauce, trio baked beans, tomato, chilli, red peppers, chorizo, fetta and eggs with toast and The Leroy burger with wagyu beef patty, cheese, relish, tomato, aioli, mixed lettuce, pickle on a brioche bum with fries, of course I added bacon for $2.50 more.<br/><br/>Baked Eggs on Fire buries the eggs under all the magic on top, this ensured the egg was cooked and not super runny as my wonderful partner pointed out. The taste and explosion of spices and chili is all there, leaving no room for criticism for this wonderful creation. It's large by the way, perfect for those that love a big breakfast.<br/><br/>The Leroy burger was surprising. Everything worked well except for the mixed lettuce which left a bitter taste in my mouth. The good old fashion iceberg lettuce would have been a perfect substitute instead. The mixed lettuce was also under the beef patty which continued to cook the lettuce. However, the wagyu beef patty was sublime, with a unique BBQ taste and juicy. A bit more sauce and iceberg lettuce and we might have a contender on our hands. The fries were crunchy and well-seasoned.<br/><br/>We were too full to try anything else but my eyes took note of the Nutella muffin that was succulently peaking at me. I will come back for you.<br/><br/>I enjoyed my experience at Leroy's, the service is attentive and the price is standard for a café. My recommendations are to improve the burger and to include freshly squeezed juice.<br/><br/>There's so much to try on this menu (I'm looking at you Nutella muffin, I haven't forgotten), that I would be looking forward to on my next visit.

Great staff<br/>Fantastic portions and quality for the price <br/>Kids area out the back is fantastic for mums n bubs - very impressed ! We will be back

Get the pancakes! They are so good and yes, you will say OMG when they come out. Staff are super friendly and the coffee is good. Enjoy! Right near the train station too.

Really impressive. I have very young kids and jumped at the chance to have lunch while they played in the sand pit and play equipment out the back. I was happy with just that but to add that the food was delicious, relatively inexpensive and the service great too, I was, as I said, impressed. I built my own breakfast because I had a hankering for all those items and couldn't find a menu item that encapsulated them all and I'm willing to pay more to do that but two lunches, a kid's lunch, a bowl of awesome chips and a coffee came to just over $50. I'll be back again soon.
The Hungry Mummasita
Visited Leroy's today for lunch with husband, two toddlers and a 5 month old. We went straight to the backyard and was greeted with a cool kid friendly layout. There was a cubby house in the middle and a sandpit below that. Yay!!! The boys ran straight there of course! Great!! We can sit and enjoy our meals while they play. The food was delicious. I ordered the Newport hollan daze which came with a hash brown, smoked trout and poached eggs and your usual hollandaise sauce.. yum!!! My husband's "weekend warrior" was mighty indeed! The black pudding crumb was to die for so good!! The service was great.. will definitely be back there soon!

I can't get enough of Leroys! As a local, its in a perfect position, a short walk from Newport Train Station.<br/><br/>The cafe itself has an open, modern set-up with a great little outdoor spot to hang out as well (heaters included).<br/><br/>Out of multiple visits, my favourite dish has been the Cacao porridge, the lashings of maple syrup with freeze-dried fruit perfectly contrasts.<br/><br/>Service is fast and friendly.

This place is great for families as they have a complete play area for kids to play with and seats all around. Great menu and good for tge western subs but can get really busy. Overall good variety and the burgers are bomb
Must Be Hungry
We came here on a Friday lunch time and we fell in love instantly. Dean the floor manager was delightful and very helpful, he let us pick our table and looked after us very well.<br/><br/>The cafe was full of families and children, which it was a pleasure to watch as that was a sign that we were in one of the best cafes in the area a mammas know best.<br/><br/>We ordered their Super Salad and the soup of the day. We didn't have time to post our first IG story that food was ready! We know that was just a salad and a soup order BUT still we were impressed how fast they were. My salad was super tasty, fresh, light and at the same time filling enough. The Soup? Oh that soup was one of the best we have ever had, truly a punch of flavour that will be always remembered. <br/><br/>Overall, a great venue with a cool backyard outdoor area, too notch service and tasty as food.<br/>Thank you for having us.

Love to visit Leeroys for a weekend brekky, food and drinks are great and lovely atmosphere. Coffee milkshake is one of our faves! Have found staff very friendly also.

Went here for lunch today walked in & was greeted straight away even though the place was packed. Ordered the cool running juice which was nice & the OMG pancakes which were really good but was a little dry but could've been due to how busy they were, will go back again & try some of the other food

Recently refurbished, Leroys is warm, unpretentious and family and pet-friendly. Indeed, during Sunday brunch it’s full of young families, most of them enjoying the outdoors space enclosed by timber framing. An additional courtyard is currently being constructed at the back.

A really pretty cafe with amazing service and quality food!! 😍👌🏽 Leroys is positioned amongst modern and newly renovated housing! The service was impossible to fault, it was a really pleasant experience!! They are building a children's play area out the back which is also a really nice idea. <br/>The food was really nice, we had the OMG Pancake, with whipped ricotta, coffee cream, salted coffee cocoa, hazelnut crumb, popping candy, burnt fig ice cream and chocolate fairy floss 🍫🍦👌🏽<br/>We also had Smashing, which was smashed avocado, Bulgarian feta, rocket, super seeds, on sourdough with poached egg! 🍳🍞<br/>Finally we had the Newport Hollan Daze, which was smashed avocado, hash browns, bacon, poached eggs, hollandaise, rocket and parmesan! <br/>

One Sunday  morning, I trekked across town with a food blogger friend to Newport to check out newly refurbished Leroy’s Cafe. After experiencing some structural damage towards the end of 2015, Leroy’s is back with a whole new layout, new menu and new vibe. Situated in the Western suburbs of Melbourne, their clientele ranges from young couples to families with young kids. Walking through the door, there is a comforting, familial ambience that is simultaneously welcoming and exciting.

Usually quirky, well decked out, corner cafes rarely fail to deliver. This was the case for Leroy's. Excellent customer service, quality, mature flavour's and at a decent price. I ordered the 'big dog' - An American style hotdog <br/><br/>To get the 5.0 - Hotdog needed to be cooked longer

A name dubbed after the local cat, Leroy, known to frequent the block, Newport café Leroys delivers delicious food and a friendly vibe. After undergoing a recent refurbishment, Leroys delivers modern flavours, great coffee and strong beliefs that local produce and seasonality are the stepping stones to great cooking.

The service is nice, but the food is not really tasty. Coffee doesn't have enough flavor, eggs are ok, but really hate the smashed avocado, omg, smells like smelly underarms, almost throw up :(:(:(! Mushrooms are nice, but sick of the the smashed one underneath

Another amazing brunch spot with good-looking interiors, friendly casual atmosphere, great service and delicious food.<br/><br/>An appetising menu consisting of mostly savoury and some sweet offerings. I ordered Auntie Shakshuka with sourdough, which is baked eggs, beans and chorizo. Note there is a 20min wait for this dish so in meantime enjoyed a chai latte and flourless orange poppy seed cake which was amazing!<br/><br/>I love a good eggs in purgatory but this I found rather watery and only contained one egg and rest filled with beans. The yolk was also over cooked so you couldn't get that gooey run to dip the sourdough in, disappointing. Please fix this, otherwise it was a satisfying tasty dish.

Great local spot. Very friendly staff, great coffee and awesome breakfast menu. Reasonably priced. Has a pretty quick turnover of tables, which is appreciated when its crazy busy on weekends. Recently renovated with indoor and outdoor seating and a small play area for kids. Can bring your dog too! Definitely worth a visit!

Just had the worst experience here. I am recovering from surgery and using a crutch to help me walk. I made a huge effort to walk there as I'd heard it was a good local cafe. I was taken to my seat by a male waiter. Then a female waiter came over with a glass and bottle of water. I smiled and said 'how are you?' And she made some perfunctory comment as she walked away, didn't engage me in any conversation. She then came back with a knife and fork and napkin, but no menu and didn't ask whether I wanted a coffee. Didn't say anything actually. I was about to ask for a coffee but she turned and walked off. I waited for her to return with a menu. I watched as new customers came - 3 different groups in the section - and were given menus, offered coffees, brought food. I watched as people had their empty coffee cups cleared and offered another, I attempted to make eye contact with both female waiters in the section, the literally looked right through me, but dealt with people either side of me. I couldn't understand what was happening. I've never had such bad service for starters, but I began to feel like it was personal. They'd enter the area and 'scan' the room to see if customers' tables needed clearing or for orders to take. There I sat, trying to look them in the eye. They'd turn around and walk off. I literally felt like bursting into tears. Were they intimidated by my crutch? My awkward gait? After 30 minutes I got up and left. No one noticed. My husband called them and they had no idea. I walked to another cafe nearby. I was greeted with a warm and welcoming smile, offered a coffee straight away, menu came next, order taken, lovely friendly engaging waitress. Is it that hard? I think a bit of self reflection is in order by the waitresses involved. This was deliberate avoidance, refusal to make eye contact, refusal to engage, refusal to serve - and appalling.

So you’ve decided to pop out a life ruining child? The days of quiet carefree brunches, need not be long gone memories. Children are the future, but oh god, please give your parents a rest. Leroy’s in Newport is a popular spot for young families. The recent refurbishment, includes a large backyard and shutters that open up to the neighbouring park. The unpretentious vibe means doggie and kiddy parents, can enjoy a bite in peace. Leroy’s is named after the neighbourhood cat. Not dissimilar to the popular fluffballs, Leroys has gathered fanfare amongst the locals – for breakfast just as good as the inner city. The all day breakfast has options for the indulger and the waistline watcher. From super salads to super hot dogs, this family friend cafe has both health and indulgence covered.

Dine at Leroys last week, tried the Dukk Dukk Dukkah which is basically smashed peas on toast with poached egg, haloumi and of couse dukkah. Love its flavour combination but I found the serving size was too small. Same issue goes to the mushrooms.

I live in Newport and eat at Leroys regularly. Service has improved since the reopening - it is now pleasant and friendly without being too intrusive. Leroys successfully caters to all people; mums with babies, couples, young singles etc. <br/>The food is delicious and never disappoints. <br/><br/>
Eat And Be Merry Crew
Running a cafe must be a headache. Some customers like dogs, others don't. Some customers have noisy young children, other customers want peace and quiet. How do you satisfy everyone?. Leroy's Cafe in Newport does a good job of catering to different groups. Indoors has a pleasant buzz and is relatively peaceful. Outdoors (under a roof and securely enclosed) is noisy and child-friendly.

Great cafe located in Newport right next to the train station. Very children friendly with a play ground with viewing distance. Staff are great and food is wonderful

Originally chose to eat at Leroy's primarily due to the fact that it's located next to a playground. We're definitely returning, not just because of it's location, but for the good food! The food that we were served looked good and tasted good - with most menu items costing less than $20. They also have a kids menu. In addition, we were warmly welcomed and served.

Definitely one of the best places to have lunch in Newport area . I tried two burgers here, Mc Leroy beef burger and LFC chicken burger. Both of them were great. The chicken burger was one of the crunchiest I have ever had, though it's lightly seasoned. The beef burger packed more flavour, though there wasn't anything extraordinary. The chips and coffee were okay. They also had fresh juice which was pretty good.

According to locals (of course from New Port), Leroy's is clearly one of the best cafes in the suburb. We decide to go check this cafe out and honestly I enjoy my dining experience here. Lovely service from staffs makes me the first impression. Great coffee for me and a cute bottle of milk shake...

We used to be leroys regulars and loved the combination of fantastic food and kid friendly atmosphere. We visited at least two weekends per month for breakfast. We were very excited to return after the renovations only to be very dissappointed. The backyard is now closed and the enclosed side room that used to have kids toys and plastic blinds to protect from cold is now open to the elements and no toys or space for the kids. The only kid friendly part of the place now is that it's located next to the park. They've even taken my favourite "honey glazing" eggs Benedict dish off the menu :(<br/>Won't be returning in a hurry. Shattered that our favourite restaurant is nothing like it used to be- far too "trendy" and nothing that makes it stand out from any other cafe in the area.

Love the new renovations they have done here! Definitely a more enjoyable atmosphere with friendly staff and a very spacious cafe! The menu provides a great variety of meals and snacks with plenty of cakes to offer at the counter! One of the better coffees I've had with very speedy service :)

Ordered the Newport Hollandaise Daze with Elisha Hodges. We felt like we were waiting a while for our order to be even taken, then again for our food to arrive. The staff were not willing to accommodate to our needs and made us feel uncomfortable. The food portions were small for the price and did not fill us up at all however they were very nicely presented. Won't be back.

Leroy's has stepped up ever since its renovation. Love that it's a family friendly environment that also offers yummy well priced food and great coffee

Nice breakfast on a sunny Saturday morning. The place has a good collection for vegetarians and the taste definitely does not disappoint! My 'magic mushroom' dish had a look of a 5 star dish and it did taste wonderful.

I have to say a was a loyal customer. I used to take all my friends and relatives there, but since it reopened I've been a little disappointed. First of all, the backyard where kids were able to play while adults ate, is now closed so it's not very kid friendly anymore. The coffee is not as good as it used to be and the menu, though more sophisticated, is a lot smaller (less options and small portion sizes) than it was. Staff are very friendly and they're not annoyed by kids, however all the areas that used to be dedicated to children including the toys are now gone. It's still a good place to visit but feel like it was so much better before renovations.

After a 15 minute wait I couldn't wait any longer to be served/ acknowledged. Obviously understaffed. While I was there I seen patrons collecting their own food from the kitchen. I'm local and been there once when they first opened. Food was average but was happy to give it another go.

Been here 6 times since the renovation and a long time customer prior, consistently excellent service and meals. Menu is even better than before. Newport daze and the burger are exceptional. Coffee is a 3/5 there's better in Newp but it's absolutely good enough. If I were trying to impress someone with brunch in the inner west I'd take them here. Staff are fantastic.

First time. Great place. Newly renovated. Really nice vibe. The staff are excellent. Tasty food. Coffee good. Great kids menu. Will be visiting soon again.

So they closed for a bit and my entire family was pretty heartbroken, and upon their reopening we were delighted with the new menu! I had an excellent taco experience and the chips on the side of my mothers burger were some of the best I've had in ages<br/>However, would recommend another heater or two in the outdoor seating area as we were quite cold, but it was 9° and there were blankets available so it wasn't too terrible
