Good little spot for a mothers group catchup. Very kid friendly with a separate carpeted room complete with little bouncy castle, and another play room next door. Debbie and staff are lovely and have big plans for the space to make it even more kid friendly.
Thankyou for lovely afternoon, the food was delicious and all the staff were lovely.
I love finding new places where the children can play and the grownups can enjoy a bite to eat and a chat..
Thankyou, we will definitely be back.
Thanks for a lovely brunch. Debbie and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The play spaces for little ones is fantastic and keeps them happy for ages.
Great place to take kids and eat a delicious meal while they play in a safe child friendly environment with loads of toys and a jumping castle to keep them entertained for hours.. will definitely be returning
This place is perfect for Mother's group catch up and first birthdays. Babies can crawl and play in the indoor play area. Absolutely recommend it! Great staff especially Jess was very helpful.
Just visited this place for the first time. I love the ethos and was keen to support, but also so pleasantly surprised by how good everything was! Great coffee (I drink soy and it was perfect!) and the most beautiful pancakes I’ve had for ages. Lovely staff, and very well set up sunny outdoor space where my dog and I felt very welcome. The play areas look great too. Will be back for sure!
Beautiful vegan sweet treats and excellent catering! Thank you for your quality food!
I hosted a 3rd birthday party for my son at New Leaf recently and it was amazing! Kelly and the team really went above and beyond - they decorated the room perfectly, food was really good, service was top notch and we didn't have to do a thing!! It was so easy and reasonably priced, my husband suggested hosting all our children's parties there! Highly recommended! Ps there's also a mini jumping castle!
Great environment, brilliant staff, awesome food. First time visit, will be back for sure. Quiet cafe area with separate kids area
Great family environment, where the staff we really nice, friendly and efficient. Food was really nice and great value! It was pizza day, where the kids made their own pizza! Great idea and they loved it! Overall a very pleasurable experience.
Had a really great time today will definitely be back, good food great service and my two Little’s ones had a ball.
Thanks so much
Delicious food, and the staff were all so welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be coming back in the future!
What a great place to go! So accomodating and kid friendly! Staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. I forgot to bring food for my 7month old and asked if they had a banana I could purchase to feed him. They didn't but offered to make apple purée for him. Was so impressed with the staff and service. Exceptional cafe with a great mission. Keep up the great work!!!!
Went here for the first time this morning with my son. It's an amazing cafe with great food and coffee, friendly staff and toys to entertain the kids. Absolute gem!
Nice little cafe inside a church. Staff are friendly, and the food is good. The servings are quite hearty. Plenty of parking and it’s a chilled neighbourhood.
Can I say, what a long way good customer service goes! Wow the people are friendly, the service quick and a good feed at a good price...
This little cafe supports the unemployed, training and up-skilling them so they can move to greener pastures!
The food was decent and filling.. Won't be needing lunch!
"...REALLY GOOD TO SEE..A CHURCH COMMUNITY CAFE..GIVING KIDS WORK..."
We had Brunch at NEW LEAF CAFE in Newport, the other day...
Not much from the front, but kind of nice inside...
Lots of locals in, and out.. having coffee.. brunch.. lunch..
We all had the 'bacon and eggs' - basic but generous.. plentiful..!!
Boys had milk shakes, I had a latte - really nice coffee..!!
There were a few interesting things on the menu..
Service was friendly and welcoming....
The papers there.. to read, and take home.. if you wished..
It's nestled amongst houses, so not a lot of atmosphere...
Just a pleasant very affordable handy little place to go for home-style breakfast or lunch...
COST: Under $50 for four - Yes, seriously...!!! Don't go to MacDonald's...!!!
Visited on Friday 9 October 2015 for Brunch with my family of four.
Quite a pleasant meal at a cafe I hadn't tried before. I had the chicken schnitzel, chips and salad: chips were fresh, hot and crunchy. Salad was a regular salad but I liked how the dressing was in a little self serve squeeze sachet - see photo. I think the schnitzel was a packet one but it was still pleasant and cooked well. A homemade one is always better though. Maybe next time. My partner had the scrambled eggs on toast with bacon and a hash brown. He said it was all cooked well, was hot and the eggs were tasty! Bacon wasn't as crunchy as he would have liked but that is just personal preference. Will be back to try something else soon.
Great find and brilliant service. Had a groupon voucher that we used. Food and service were excellent. Chef was super friendly and staff interacted well. Cafe is helping out long term enemployed, so help them hel others. Thanks for a great experience and will definitely be back. Keep up the great work and quality service
Love My Food From Melbourne
+4.5
Nice cafe in Newport. This is a great little cafe located in Newport. Unlike many cafe's, this isn't located in a main shopping area, but the locals must know about it as most of the tables were full. The food and milkshakes were good (burgers, big breakfast and caramel milkshakes). The service was good, but the table next to us had to wait a little longer as a table of 12 ordered there food just before this table.
Staff were friendly and there was seating options inside and outside.
If you are in Newport, why not give this business a try for a drink and meal. It is not five star, but I wasn't disappointed either.
Attended a kids birthday party here a couple of weeks ago and was curious to go back for lunch. Happy to say I was not disappointed. A friend and I both popped in for lunch with our toddler boys and the food and kids area were great. Milkshakes and chips for the kids were nice and the fruit and yoghurt platter that the table next to us had looked amazing. The fish and chips was a good portion and the wedges were delicious. Fettucine carbonara looked a little messy but was lovely and the homemade fettucine was great. Nice service with a smile and great prices. Good feed without trying to be fancy and great way to keep the kids busy while you have a catch up. Will be back
Great food and service ! Tried the big breakfast and eggs Benedict . Both great! Coffee was good and hot choc was good as well! The service was very friendly !! Will come back !
Visited the cafe with my living social voucher. $19 for breakfast for 2. Excellent customer service and very good coffee. Food was decent for the price paid.. Not sure if I'll pay the full price for what I got though. We also got charged $2 for tea... Was not told at the time of ordering. We paid the $2 without arguing as they do charity work to help the needy too...
Loved this place. Decent coffee. Good food and wonderful service.
I enjoyed my meal, it's simple and not to fancy. Sometimes it what you want and need. It's a shame that they couldn't handle the rush as there was a little charity thing happening outside. They have the potential to be successful just need to speed things up and cope well under stress and a rush. Food took longer than other places that are usually a lot busier that I've been too. I'm going to continue to support this place because it's nice and quite and staff are lovely.
Absolutely fantastic service and portion size!! It's a small cafe in a suburban surrounding. Loved the welcoming and friendly staff and well priced meals. We will definitely be returning.
Not only does this café have great meals and all freshly made pasta. It also serves delicious Devonshire tea. The place is spotless, warm and friendly. The veggie breakfast I had was served beautifully and everything was so fresh and perfectly cooked.
To top it off the manager takes on kids working for the dole to give them experience and enable them to gain employment. Come on everyone he deserves our support.
Wonderful staff and honest, homemade style food!. My partner and I went there today after purchasing their Scoopon voucher online for 2 people.
Staff we very friendly and accommodating and the ambiance was perfect too. Not your younger 'hip' place with fancy menus and edgy decor though, instead this place is warm, modern and genuine.
I ordered the Pollo Funghi (creamy chicken and mushroom) fettuccine which was fantastic! The experienced head chef explained how he actually makes his own pasta in house (pasta maker clearly in view!) and sauces to order - something that was clearly evident in the texture and taste. Honestly, I've had a lot of Pollo Funghi's in my life and this is definitely up there with the best! I was also lucky enough that the chef had made a fresh batch of fettuccine this morning - 20 mins before we arrived! haha
My partner (the big breakfast connoisseur) ordered the veggie breakfast and really enjoyed it as well.
Coffee was good, however I did find it slightly bitter, but then again that could be the type of coffee used or how it was made - not too sure... Also this is coming from someone who enjoys sugars with their coffees so I enjoy mine differently to most!
Our Scoopon deal cost us $17 for two meals and two coffees - insane value for what you get. Even without the special promotion, their standard menu prices are very affordable. My pasta for example was around 10 or 11 bucks on the menu for a normal serving size.
We'll definitely be going back there, no doubt. We're extremely keen to try the other mains - especially that tempting chocolate mousse!
In summary, a solid new starter and highly recommended.
Never judge a book by it's cover and always judge a lunch joint by there Parma.
Good Parma, Good Coffee- Good place for a bite
Great Pasta. Loved the fresh homemade pasta! Never had homemade pasta before and now I would not want to go back to the processed stuff! Nice and warm inside which is especially good in this cold weather. Will definitely go back!
Great place for kids. Coffee is great. We had our daughters 4th birthday here and had a fantastic day. Plenty of space for the kids to run around in doors. Friendly staff who went out of their way to ensure everyone had a good time. Highly recommended
Lovely family friendly cafe. My toddler loved the kids area. It kept him entertained for the whole time we were there. We'll be back. Highly recommend!
A training cafe. Not as quick as your usual cafe but you can see care is taken every step of the way.
Nice size servings and a big area for kids with parents (blow up castle, cubby house outside a room to draw and toys to play with) on one side and a big area for adults on the other.
Great place for kids and the food is really good. I believe they have a new chef ( for a little while now), it shows! My son's chicken and chips was chicken strips and not processed nuggets, which I hate to say other "trendy" cafe's serve up. The kids area, means both mum and toddler are happy.
Went with 3 others. Food was great, service was good. Clean tables and food didn't take too long. Keep in mind the kitchen closes 1 hour before closing time and if you have discount vouchers they only let you use one per group so don't go in there with a big group asking for more than one voucher. Also they only have sour dough bread so don't ask for other types other bread. Other than spending more than I planned was a good experience. I'll be going back again.
This place is a new favourite of ours. We have come here with friends for lunch and were so happy with the food, service and coffee. Today we took a grumpy two year-old and got to experience the kids section of the cafe, and it was magical! A huge playroom for little ones to explore and lovely seating for the adults. Although seperated from the main cafe it didn't feel like we were forgotten or anything and again got to enjoy a wonderful lunch. New Leaf clearly care a lot about its staff and customers. I am reccomending it to everyone!
Lovely food and really good service. Staff are very attentive. We are having a 7th birthday party here next month which so far with there planning and assistance looks like it will be great.
Its a pleasant little cafe that is trying to do something different. It is a tool to help young people get out into the world and get real world job experience.
Do not come here if you are expecting inner-north Melb hipster experience.
The coffee is passable and the food is good.
The toddler play area is filled with an array of toys (mostly donated) and the small courtyard has a picnic table and bench seats and a small play cubby/slide.
It gets busy with families.
They do lots of social events for children/
