Review Bloodwood Restaurant & Bar - Newtown

A very nice concept, with a nice specialty menu. The service is excellent, the design is quite interesting. The food is delicious and the team is helpful and generous. The table are so close and it gets really noisy when it is fully booked in a way that could hear the people sitting on the next table clearly along with the noise coming from downstairs as well.

Came on a Monday night and it was happening. Constant flow of customers- not too many dinner places open on Monday so very thankful this place was! And till late too. Food was delicious and service was friendly and efficient.

Fabulous food and ambience. The music 🎶 was great. Really loved the friendly and polite service. They actually know their food so well and take pride in that. From a simple bread to the cheese platter, all the things we ordered were impressive. Would be definitely back as it was an experience to remember.

I've been to Bloodwood twice, and the latest time was even better than the first. It's a bit of a tapas vibe, so we had 8 dishes for 5 people, which was absolutely perfect for us. The food came out SO fast. The absolute stars of the night were the Ocean Trout, Prawn Toast, and the Beef Skewer. Absolutely incredible flavours. 10/10 for all three of these dishes. The two I wouldn't order again were the Duck and the Octopus. Duck was cooked perfectly and had a sour rhubarb sauce. Needed a tiny bit more sweetness to be amazing. The Octopus was a weird one. Not a fan of the flavour combo on there. Very bitter with the charcoal. The drinks were great. Would recommend the Pommy cocktail to anyone. Their spicy margarita packs a real punch. The staff were absolutely fantastic, attentive, and the drinks were flowing quickly. Our waitress was so caring and supportive of managing our table's allergies. Took her time explaining the menu in detail to ensure we were comfortable. There were no peanuts on the menu (perfect for peanut allergies) and use minimal dairy. They also offered vegan alternatives for a lot of food items if that's what you're into. We finished the night with the rice pudding and the chocolate fudge cake. Both were absolutely lovely. The cake was dense and delectable, and the rice pudding had these AMAZING little balsamic grapes on top. Overall, an incredible evening. The whole table was so happy with the whole night. We'll be back again for sure.

Great food & wonderful service! We really enjoyed our time at Bloodwood Newtown ~ the Lamb kebab is a must try!! Thank you to the wonderful lady who served our table, her passion & enthusiasm made our night.. Cocktails are delicious!

Bloodwood is a great spot for a premium dining experience in a relaxed, casual setting. The staff are very supportive and accommodating and can vary many dishes to suit allergies, diets and general preferences. The lamb is a must try. I haven't yet had a dish there that I didn't like.

Great atmosphere and delicious food. What more could you ask for. You’d never realise how big this place is by walking past it on the street, but the back section can fit quite a few people. It’s hidden feel creates a great atmosphere. Defiant worth giving it a go. The food was also great (we got the banquet menu) and the service absolutely matched. Couldn’t be happier.

Food is delightful and so are their drinks, we chose the banquet menu and were very satisfied with our choice. The greatest highlight (among many) was the desserts, hands down! The flavours are complex and really ends your evening on a sweet and blissful high. Most importantly, the staff are vibrant and friendly and really quite funny!

Awesome food, great staff, funky place..... a little loud though to chat is the only negative. Completely recommend

A positive experience from greeting on arrival to farewell by Amanda. Although the restaurant looked very busy, we were seated within the advised 5 minutes. Patrick was working the 'upper deck' very efficiently and although extremely busy, was very attentive anticipating our service flow including wine. My dietary requirements are fairly extreme, no meat, seafood or wheat but Patrick took us through the menu with suitable options The food was well presented, fresh and very tasty. The menu allows you to order individual or group offerings and we shared an small plate but ordered separate mains Definitely a Five Star Experience

Amazing evening shared with my gorgeous partner. Great food, great wine list and awesome staff. My partner presented me with my engagement ring on our plate of polenta chips with Gorgonzola dip - this dish will forever be in my heart ❤️. I love this place. Everything you want out of restaurant and bar. You can choose to dine or to eat or to graze. Choose to drink big or to drink small, or to drink long or to drink sweet or to drink spice or, one of my favorites, chose to drink craft. Choose to sit inside or to sit outside or to sit in a bar or to sit at a big a private dining table. Last but not least, lovely people looking after you. Great place to be! A home from home!

We went on the 25th October and wow! The food is amazing plus me and my partner love to try different dishes so great for us, the best dish by far is the beef brisket! We tried 4 and all of them were as good as the next.

I was visiting Sydney from NYC and I was looking for a place to eat at in Newtown. I heard of this place and I was thoroughly impressed with both the food and service. I liked the serving portions and I loved the beef sirloin with spatzle, barramundi, and polenta fries. A perfect place for those heading to Holey Moley and Dendy Cinemas. #TravelingWithJared

Well first time there and definitely not the last time. The food was really good, lots of diversity in the dishes yum yum. I think important to share so then you get to try little snippets of everything. Then the "refreshments" or should I say sherbies!!! Very palatable good scotch selection and cocktails. Eclectic atmosphere, however the service was very attentive and friendly.

Great food, quirky fun staff, unusual menu with good variety but poor form that you have to wait 90minutes for a table! It is crazy that you can't book! Lucky there is an amazing bar across the road to keep us entertained or I would not have waited!

Food is great, they change the menu often enough to keep you coming back, Great wine, great service, and a very relaxed Newtown space.

I would of given a 5 but one of the female staff was so rude, first on the telephone when we couldn't find the place and then when we got there. So rude! The guy looking after our table certainly made up for it though. He's food and wine knowledge was excellent and the dishes that we ordered were beyond our expectations. The wines he recommended paired with our dishes beautifully. Will be back for sure but hope we get a more inviting attitude next time.,,

Met my friend up for dinner there, atmosphere is good and it has a warm vibe there. The initial waitress is very attentive and very patient as my friend is vegetarian and listened and offered suggestions as to what we can change in the menu to suit her needs. Another waiter came to take our order, then informed us that we can't change things in the menu. A bit of consistency with information amongst the staff would be helpful in future. Food is good, but the waiter could maybe tone down the attitude a notch. Gesturing to me instead of letting me know the bill was arriving is downright rude, and you could see he treated the Caucasian crowd differently compared to the Asian clients presents. Would not recommend people to done there unless you're Caucasian I'm afraid........

Amazing food combinations some I thought I would not like but I'm converted. I was there for a birthday banquet on Sunday night and literally could not stop eating. Your staff where very friendly and professional and would and have recommended your establishment to friends and family xxx

Food was brilliant but the constant asking from staff about our meal our cocktails our olives if we'd finished if we'd nearly our wine was so overbearing. Ashamed because the food & wine list can really hold its own
